But with recent albums that have dug deep into outsider art (Outside) and tapped into the mainline of state-of-the-art club music (Earthling) , Bowie, who recently turned 55 this past January, is anything but a shadow of his former self. Bowie: Tony Visconti and I had been wanting to work together again for a few years now. Both of us had fairly large commitments and for a long time we couldn't see a space in which we could get anything together. As spring came around, last year, things began to ease up. I told Mark Plati and my band that I was going to disappear for a while and put this thing together with Tony. They were very understanding, they've worked with me long enough to know that we would be back together again before long. That's when it all came together. I went over and stayed at Tony's place for a while and we talked and played around in his home studio to get a feel of what I was after. Ironically, the first piece that we recorded there in demo form and were excited about is one song that never made it to the final list. However, it was our starting point.

HEATHEN band members are Bill Whitlatch Charlie Smith Scott Blythe Jeff Knight HEATHEN HEATHEN performs Rock 'N' Roll songs from the 70's, 80's, 90's and current rock hits. We're what is called a 'cover band' in that we perform songs recorded by the original artist's (as most bar bands do). However, we make no attempt to duplicate the sound of the original songs as they were recorded. We are first and foremost a "Band of Musicians" who perform songs the way that we feel them. We are professional in our musical arrangements and in our performances. We also have a professional attitude toward the responsibilities of each gig. We have fun when we play because we enjoy the opportunity to make live music happen! SIDE NOTE: It was an Ohioan that coined the phrase "Rock 'N' Roll" (Alan Freed) and Ohio has the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame Museum in Cleveland. Rock 'N' Roll is as natural and normal to the people of Ohio as the blues is to the people of Chicago, Mississippi or Texas. HEATHEN does what we can to contribute to, and to perpetuate, Rock 'N' Roll music in it's awesome raw natural state.
