Extractions: To the dedicated workers of The Salvation Army: As Christians, we have admired and appreciated The Salvation Army, but today, The Salvation Army touched our family with a simple sandwich. Our adult son, a NASA Security Officer, working in Lufkin, Texas was handed a sandwich by a Salvation Army worker, the only food he'd had all day since leaving his home in Huntsville, Alabama. That simple kindness means so much to us. He said the sandwich was delicious! Our son is doing his job under difficult circumstances, and The Salvation Army is there to help those with this awful task of gathering remains of the Columbia and its crew. Thank you for being there for our son, and all the others like him, in this disaster and in all the others. Enclosed is a small donation so that The Salvation Army can continue to lend a helping hand in times of need. Please pass our thanks on to those workers in Lufkin!
