Ministries Meet the Staff Jimmy Duke, Jr. St. Mark United Methodist Church is a vibrant and growing 1900-member church in the northwest section of Columbus, Georgia. St. Mark has a rich tradition dating to its beginnings as a mission outreach of the St. Luke Church in 1856. St. Mark's people have demonstrated their vision for reaching people for Christ's kingdom by relocating strategically for outreach three times. The church was moved to its present location in 1974. Due to demographic shifts, the church at its last location had dwindled to an active congregation of approximately 50 faithful members. Now, weekly worship attendance averages approximately 700. St. Mark is a theologically-conservative, evangelical church in the Wesleyan tradition, known in the community for the warm hospitality of its members. Our ministry is very much a lay-oriented one. Church leadership is shared among approximately 200 persons on all the various boards and committees.
