Beginning with the latter, we have (a) the mechanical theory of Nature, (6) the theory of Evolution, and (c) the psychophysical theory of Body and Mind.A. The Mechanical Theory: — The Laplacean calculator; different views of him; he excludes the teleological. Abstract dynamics, a strictly mathematical science, the basis of this theory, which thus divests itself of the real categories qf Substance and Cause, and substitutes for them the quantitative terms 'Mass' and 'Force' (or Mass-acceleration). Mr. Sommers gives an interesting perspective to the readings of the bible.While we may not agree with everthing he writes, it does make us think and opens up our minds to different interpretations of the bible.

Ehrman is an American New Testament scholar, currently the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ehrman writes about the early Christians, using the term "proto-orthodox" to describe the Christian traditions that would later be defined as orthodox. He describes first- and second-century Christians as not yet having a unified, orthodox tradition. He is the author of a number of books in this area, including Misquoting Jesus (2005), God's Problem (2008), and Jesus, Interrupted (2009). Ehrman grew up in Lawrence, Kansas and attended Lawrence High School, where he was on the state champion debate team in 1973. He began studying the Bible and its original languages at the Moody Bible Institute and is a 1978 graduate of Wheaton College in Illinois. He received his PhD and M.Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary, where he studied under Bruce Metzger. He received magna cum laude for both his BA in 1978 and PhD in 1985.
