Product Description

Simon Ross Valentine has written the first scholarly evaluation of the teachings, beliefs, and lifestyle of the Ahmaddiya Jama'at, an Islamic reform group founded in nineteenth-century India that currently boasts millions of followers worldwide. To the great aggravation of other Muslims, the Ahmadis assert that prophets existed after Muhammad, a controversial belief that has led to fierce persecution, especially in South Asia, where the government has declared the Ahmadis to be non-Muslims.

Valentine explores other major claims made by the Ahmadis, including their assertion that Jesus, instead of dying on the cross (as Christians believe) or ascending to heaven after the crucifixion (as mainstream Muslims teach), in fact escaped from the Romans and settled in Srinagar, the capital of Kashmir and the alleged location of Christ's tomb. After an account of the life of the movement's founder, Ghulam Mirza Ahmad, Valentine discusses the history of the Ahmadis, their proselytization strategies, the role of mosques and madrasas, the position of women within the religion, and the Ahmadis' doctrine of a peaceful jihad.

1-0 out of 5 stars Untrustworthy
We can say shortly that anything that was written by Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (the Liar) cannot be trusted.

5-0 out of 5 stars A book by a gifted Man
Hazrat M. Ghulam Ahmad was a great person. He was gifted and guided by God himself. All of his books are very well written and are all worth reading. Most of them are defending the religion of Islam. He was born in Qadian India about a hundred years ago. He wrote these books mostly in Urdu, Arabic, and Persian. His arguments are very well said. They are mostly from the Holy Quran. He was a great man. He made the claim to be the Messiah of the time. The messiah that was prophisised in all the major religions of the world. Now he has a community called the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam. Millions of people follow his teachings. And of course the beautiful teaching of Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa s.a.w. His community is increasing in large numbers like soldiers of the true islam. (...)

5-0 out of 5 stars Most Authentic
Maulana Mohammad Ali is indeed one of the greatest writers of present day Islam. His accounts of Mirza Ghulam Ahmed are undisputible. The Maulana has penned several other great books, including Mohammad: The Prophet, which is a must read.
These writings however are poison ivy for those narrow-minded confused folks who say that Mohammad was the last Prophet, but believe that Issa (Jesus) will climb down a ladder in Jerusalem to come save THEM from hell.
May Allah have mercy on them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Most authentic depiction of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad...
Maulana Mohammad Ali is without a doubt one of the most prolific Islamic scholars of our age. His integrity is without a doubt unquestionable and his first person association with Mirza Ghulam Ahmed for a long period of time makes his accounts most authentic..
Also must reads are: his translation of the Holy Qur'aan and his title History of the Prophets.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nonsense
even though i respect the many good works of Maulana Muhammad Ali and i consider him to be very knoledgeble, but i can't agree with this book, andi certainly can't believe such intelligent thinker would write such asblasphemous book, may Allah have mercy on his soul.

5-0 out of 5 stars An accurate portrayal of this religious figure.
The book indeed is quite an accurate account of the life Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. It not only deals with historical background issues, but also hisclaims, position on Islamic principles as well as his project regenerationof the religion (ie. Islam) which was being lost to the material world.

As for the reviewer who claims that he was "bored", this isonly indicative of his level of insight towards spiritual matters. The bookis clear, consise and well supported with references from the works ofMirza Ghulam Ahmad. Any unbiased reader interested in the subject will notbe disappointed!

5-0 out of 5 stars The most authentic English biography of a servant of Islam
The author, Maulana Muhammad Ali, is the famous writer of several world-renowned works on Islam. The Maulana always acknowledged that the inspiration for his work came from his mentor and guide, the Founder of theAhmadiyya Movement, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian.

Sadly, the lifeand teachings of this great Muslim Reformer and thinker, as Hazrat Mirzawas, have been misunderstood and misrepresented beyond all limits. It isextremely fortunate that Maulana Muhammad Ali recorded this concisebiography. This book is highly authoritative, not only because of theMaulana's established reputation as a scholar of the highest merit andintegrity, but also because he was a close associate and confidant ofHazrat Mirza, and lived and worked with him in Qadian for the last nineyears of the life of Hazrat Mirza.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad regardedMaulana Muhammad Ali as the most accurate and reliable exponent of histeachings and beliefs. Therefore this book can be safely trusted to providethe most authentic account of Hazrat Mirza's life and mission. ... Read more

Mirza Hadi Baig, a religious scholar dedicated to Islam, was the first Qazi (city Magistrate) of this area. Because of his religious beliefs, he named the new town 'Islam Pur Qazi'. With the passage of time, it changed to 'QaziMaji' (The word "Maji" means Bull referring to the animal still found in abundance in Qadian) and then later to just 'Qadi' and eventually came to be known as Qadian. It was in 1834 AD during the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh that the estate consisting of Qadian and five adjoining villages were given to Mirza Ghulam Murtaza Ahmad, father of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad. A remote and unknown village, 'Qadian' emerged as a centre of religious learning in 1889, when Mirza Ghulam Ahmad established the Ahmadiyya Movement. Qadian remained the administrative headquarter and capital of the Ahmadiyya Caliphate until the partition of India in 1947. Qadian is located at . It has an average elevation of 250 metres (820 feet). Since the city is located east of Damascus, it holds a special significance to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Movement, who believe that the Mahdi rose from this city. As of 2001 India census, Qadian had a population of 20,827. Males constitute 54% of the population and females 46%. Product Description
Khalifatul Masih or Khalifat-ul Masih ("Successor of the Messiah") sometimes simply referred to as Khalifah or Caliph is the elected spiritual leader of the worldwide Ahmadiyya Muslim Community and is the successor of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian. The Khalifatul Masih is believed by the Ahmadiyya Community to be divinely guided, continuing the same divine communion which the founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad is said to have enjoyed. The Lahore Ahmadiyya Movement however does not subscribe to this belief. The Khalifatul Masih is also referred to by members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community as Amir al-Muminin. The current Khalifatul Masih is Mirza Masroor Ahmad. After the death of Ghulam Ahmad, his successors directed the Ahmadiyya Community from Qadian which remained the headquarters of the community until 1947 with the creation of Pakistan. From this time on the headquarters remained in Rabwah, a land bought in Pakistan by the community. In 1984 the Ordinance XX was promulgated by the government of Pakistan which rendered the Khalifa unable to perform his duties and put the very institution of the Ahmadiyya Caliphate in jeopardy. ...
