5-0 out of 5 stars Notes and Quotes
Of course, the principal author is our Lord, as all scripture is God-breathed.The human authors present a clear, clean format with notes and quotes that inspire and make you think.Good job!

4-0 out of 5 stars a great study bible
I was looking for a study bible that wouldn't dumb it down too much, wouldn't be geared towards a teenager and wouldn't be over my head or way too long - I also wanted something with an easy to read format and that was light weight. This student study bible easily does all of that. It was exactly what I was looking for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Translation
This is an excellent translation of the Bible, well organized into paragraphs and written in modern, proper English. But especially valuable are the insights included throughout the Bible written by Philip Yancey.Having read some of his other books, I was expecting applicable and well thought-out points, and I was not disappointed. This Bible is excellent for helping a new Christian learn more about their faith and it is perfect for an experienced Christian to use as a tool to delve deeper into the meaning of being saved by Jesus Christ.

5-0 out of 5 stars Review of NIV Student Bible, Revised
The Student Bible is an inviting pathway for youth and adults who have not read the Bible much or at all; yet it is a valuable resource for experienced Bible readers, Sunday School teachers, and Bible study leaders. Its Reading Plans and many helps (e.g., Guided Tour of the Bible; 100 People You Should Know; notes, charts, maps and explanations) enable a novice to catch the threads of the Bible's major themes and characters quickly, while they offer deeper explanations, understanding and connections to those already familiar with the Bible.I have used the Student Bible to teach both youth and adults with consistently enthusiastic results.I encourage students to use it as their "working" Bible, to make notes in it as they read and study it -- its soft cover format makes it especially portable and flexible for this purpose.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent guide,Bible made simple and interesting, must read
The three track reading plan given in this Bible is very effective, after reading this Bible I am sure one would understand the Bible like never before, the notes by Philip yancey and Tim are very honest and informative, a must read for every human being on this earth great going Philip Yancey ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Resource
My daughter and I love this atlas!Very easy to use, even for a child..it is full of colorful maps and easy to read details. We use it for both school and personal bible study.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Student Bible Atlas
I have been looking for just this kind of atlas for my 5th and 6th grade Sunday School class. The main thing I like about it is that it uses the same map of Israel and shows it at the various periods. Most atlases and Sunday School curricula show various maps instead of one map that changes over time.I liked the comparison maps of the empires. The comments and illustrations with each map are also useful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Companion to Bible for Both Child and Adult!
This is definitely a worthy purchase if you have achild and as well if you (admit it) still get mixed up a bit with Middle East geography, especially when it comes to what an area was called years ago and what its present-day name is.When you read a passage to your child, show him withthis each time where that scripture was taking place at that time period(the atlas shows name changes and political boundaries in different timesegments). You both will have a much better understanding of what wastaking placewhere and when. ... Read more

If you want to see change in a person's life than buy them this bible or buy it for yourself. This is a great bible that answers any question that you can have in your mind about the word of God and how to follow the word.I bought this bible for my brother who is an intellectual and loves to ask questions.Well, he couldn't stop raving about this bible. He said it was the best gift that I gave him.The bible ask questions and give the answers. ex. 5-0 out of 5 stars Great
This bible really let me understand the bible easily.

4-0 out of 5 stars awesome bible, really helps ya understand it!
i got my version of this book (leather) 2 years ago.it's been great!it has character profiles, reading plans, an introduction to each book of the Bible, insights (short articles written like a clip from a magazine, helps you look at things in a new perspective) and highlights, which are little blue boxes through out this book that point out interesting facts & help explain a difficult verse. There is a section in the back marked with a blue tab called "Where to Find It."it has things like a glossary, a piece called Well-Known Biblical Events, or a Line-up of Rulers, then a short subject guide.right behind all that are the maps.i recomend this Bible because it really helped me understand it, and helps me see things you'd normally over look.By the way, i read somewhere if you read 3 chapters a day and 5 on Sundays, you should finish the whole Bible in about a year.Pretty cool, huh?anyway, i hope you seriously consider this book, it really is awesome!

4-0 out of 5 stars **Wonderful, but not perfect
If you ask any person who has owned mulptial Bibles, you will find that many of those people will have the same thing in common. They find that the footnotes are annoying, or did not fullfill their purpose.

One of the greatest tributes that this Bible has to offer is that there are random little 'in debth' looks into different passages.I've found these useful in that they give you an example of how deep you can really go into the Bible.

One innacuracy I have found in this Bible is the translation. In several parts, I feel the urge to pick up my Hebrew Bible, and make the translation myself, just to double check. There have been many cases where I was fairly certain that a passage in a specific secion said one thing, when it clearly said something different. As one of the main purposes of the Bible is to extract a feeling of what is morally sound, you want as close a translation to the real thing as possible.Like I said though, this only comes up in a select few parts, so don't feel that you need to rush out and get another Bible to check it's translation^_^Another note that people may or may not realize is that one of the authors of the Left Behind series (my memory fails me as to what his name is at this current moment) helped write those little side notations, which is another plus.

For a student (teen-college), I highly recomeend this Bible, and think that it is probally one of the best out there for that age group. For those who may be older or younger, you should check out the differnt types of Bibles that the NIV version has to offer--ex: devotional, single's, womans, mens, childrens ect...

Godbless 'ya! (I know he will:)

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest Bible to Read!
The Student Bible is the greatest study bibles ever. The 1, 2, and 3 track programs are absulutely perfect for studying. These programs make me feel that I don't have to obliged to read 3 or 4 chapters each day.One chapter a day is usually the amount you read in the Track plans and it's even better if you read ahead.Buy this bible.I am closer to god than ever before.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just for youth and teens...
I am 31 years old and have been walking with God for 9 years now. I try to read thru the bible 1 time per year. I have the privilege of having 5-10 different tranlations and different study bible's including the grown up version of this one. Not telling you this to brag as you dont know who I am, I am building up to the point that this is my favorite one. The study notes dont get in the way with too much "interpretation". It just states the facts in very simple terms. And will encourage you in your walk with God wether you are a new believer or have been walking with God for many years. Everyone that has had any exposure to this Bible will tell you that it is GREAT!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Youth Study Bible
This is a great youth study bible.I brought it for my teenagers and they love it!My son is excited about reading his bible because this bible helps you understand the scriptures more easily.I purchased three bibles in total. The print is a little too small for me but the teenagers don't have a problem with it.You won't regret getting this bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Bible
My wife loved this bible so much she had me buy four more

5-0 out of 5 stars the best bible for young adults and teens
i bought this bible for myself and was amazed at how much i loved it and bragged about it. I am a leader in my youth group and the kids were saying that the reason they don't read the bible is because they don't understand it. So I've been buying these for them. They are awesome.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Format that Makes the Word Easily Understood!
I was searching for a NJKV Bible for my kids for school (2nd & 3rd grade). The text is laid out in a readable format and the explanation capsules are filled with information.

I liked this Bible so much that I went out and bought my own and use it daily!!!!! Because it is the "New" King James Version, it is a close approximation of the KJV but with a little less of the old English language. And, it has become my PRIMARY study Bible. As such, I only suplement my studies with the Message Bible, or the NIV, or other translations.

I can honestly say that this Bible has been tremendously effective in my understanding of the word and in helping the scriptures come alive in my life.

I don't hesitate to recommend it to my friends and my youth group. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great First Bible!
I've been using this one since I became a Christian. The notes and tracks are really helpful. I'd recomment this to anyone looking for a good way to start diving into the Word on a regular basis. The only thing is I wish it came in a bonded leather compact edition so that it would last.

**Update** I'd also like to add this - I recommend obtaining the NASB version for superior translation accuracy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great For Students!
This Bible can touch people who normally dread opening the scriptures. It makes the bible easier to understand and cherish. It is filled with many tips, reading plans, and facts. There is a great section in the back where you can look up bible verses by subject. I gave ended up giving my copy to my non-church going teenage neighbor who came over my house and started thumbing through it. Next thing I know she asked if she could take it home cause she was so interested! She's reading it cover to cover! Excellent!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bible
I have tried many other bibles and this is the best one that I have found so far.It helps you understand everything in it and is extremly easy to read.I reccomend this to all ages.

5-0 out of 5 stars A++++++++++ Translation
I have always had trouble reading the Bible. The language was always difficult, and even though I went to church and understood the stories, I tended to "get lost" when I was reading the book on my own.

...until I got this Bible.

The Student Bible has, by far, been the easiest read of any Bible that I have ever had the pleasure of reading (and owning).3 different reading tracks can take you through the key points of the Bible quickly, through every book in a semi-long amount of time, or through every word in the massive book. However, while this comes in handy, what I found most useful was the inserts inside the reading.Constantly throughout, notes have been made, explaining traditions, who people are, and other things that people today might find odd or confusing. For example, in Ezekiel, there is a note that helps explain the afterlife, saying,
"Though eternal life shines through a few Old Testament passages (see "Life after Death," page 581), life after death was extremely vague in most of the Old Testament. The grave was represented by a place called, "Sheol."The fate of the nations described here as "within the grave" gives a vivid, eerie sense of death."

These notes, along with advisements at the beginning of each book, help provide additional information and assist in the comprehension of events and ideas. This Bible also has a helpful glossary, a lineup of rulers, a subject guide, and maps that pinpoint places and journeys (among these are the Land of the Twelve Thieves, the Kingdom of David and Solomon, Jerusalem in Jesus' Time, Jesus' Ministry, and much more!)This Bible is awesome! It has been the only version that I have been able to read consistently and understandably!A+++++++++++++++++++

(This review pertains to the leather-bound book.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for those who would like to get to know God better!
The NIV Student Bible is a wonderful Bible. It has a 3-Track reading system which will guide you through the whole Bible. You can choose to read from Track-1 a 2 week reading plan which gets you through certain topics such as "The Teachings of Jesus", "Becoming a Christian", "Prayer", etc. The Track-2 is a 6 month reading plan that takes you through the most well-known parts of the Bible. 5-0 out of 5 stars very pleased
I was very pleased with this product. As were my students whom I handed them to.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not only for "students"
I am a pastor who's been in ministry for over 15 years. When I first saw this "Student" Bible, I quickly dismissed it as the first of many lines of youth-oriented Bibles. But several years back, I happened to pick this up at our church's Lost & Found (many Bibles can be found there, as you must also know from first hand experience) and was delighted at what I found.

I recommend the bulkier NIV Study Bible or Quest Study Bible for my congregation so that they can study the texts as they read them. But for me, I wanted a Bible that didn't have so much study materials that forced me to glance here and there, but something with small morsels of goodies here and there to make me pause at the important (or most often quoted) passages for a second glance. With this Student Bible, I am able to be free of "study texts" so that I can engage in the text without an external guide, but as I read through the Bible, this Bible makes me stop to read the short sidebars or quick notes here and there that reminds me of some important points. As a person who's read the Bible many times over, I really like this feature -- never overbearing, but in perfect amount.

These days, I recommend this Bible to my congregation.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good overall
-Very good.I like the quality of its leather, and the bookmark and holding box that come with it are the icing on the cake.
-My only complaint would have to be the tendency of the pages to fold inwards. But hey, this is what happens with non-hardback books.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pleased as Punch!
This Bible exceeded our expectations as a great present for our youth. They loved it.We liked the glossy hardcover with the silver accent and the reference guides in every chapter were very effective. We liked the price and the delivery was on time.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm a New Christian
Hi! I'm a new Christian and a foriegner. When I read this bible with its short description and easy-to understand English, I began to enjoy reading the Word of God. This made me yearn to learn morae and be part of a Christian community.

I believe that it doesnt matter whether the bible is King James (too-difficult English) or New Version, it must convey the message of Christ. Besides we are not saved by how many times and how accurate the bible, even Satan reads it as shown when he was tempting Jesus. Its alla bout love, faith and hope in Lord Jesus. We simply understand Him more by reading His words and obeying His commands. That's the challenge.

I'd give this book a five star because of its presentation, easy-to read English and the various description how and what a Jewish culture means. Sometimes we base the Scriture on ouw own understanding , experience and culture. We forget that Jesus is a Jew and its a good insight what His culture then and how they are made different amoingst all nations.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great short resource for students
I give this four stars only because many of the days don't include anything beyond the scripture passage and a quote. The days that do, however, provide excellent devotional thoughts.Along with this, the entire framework of the Bible is covered in only minutes a day. What more can be expected of one book (outside of the Bible itself?).

The best way to use this resource is to study it in a group with the curriculum written by the author available at simplyyouthministry.com.Use this with your class and the impact will be much greater.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great way to get to know God's Word...
I got this book when I started to deepen my faith and found it as a great way to learn the Bible. Every day, there is a story from the Bible that includes scriptures to look up that apply to the story and a fun thing such a verse to memorize or a profile on a person in the Bible. I have since passed it down to my sister and she reads it every day. A great book with great intentions.

5-0 out of 5 stars 1 minute Bible 4 students
I am in my early forties and just found a type of Bible that I really enjoy reading. It is not easy to read just one study a day since you want to continue reading.Would recommend to those who want to start reading the Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best devotional I have ever read
I am a middle schooler and I read it every day.my church friends read it every day and like it.This is a very good way to learn the bible in 1 year and be able to read it year after year.my youth paster gave this to me because he thinks its a good way to read the bible. this book only does the main points of the bible but at the bottem of each scripture it show verse that are realated to that scripture.

5-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS BIBLE
Even though I was given a Bible as a child, I tried to read it but it didn't make sense to me. When I started going to church with a friend as an adult, I knew I wanted my own Bible to make my own notes in it. I went to the bookstore and bought this one. It is clearly written in plain English so I can understand it. And even though its a thick book, its not that heavy. You dont need to be a teenager to buy it, sometimes its even easier when you're first starting out. This is a great Bible, buy it, you wont regret it :).

2-0 out of 5 stars Good translation, terrible notes
The NLT translation is a nice one, particularly for teens. It is thought-for-thought rather than word-for-word, which means it is less accurate to the source texts in some places, but also a lot more lyrical and lively.

But the notes are atrocious.I do not think they should be read unless other points of view are also read. They make erroneous statements about "Christianity" and what "Christians" believe when in fact nearly every note is applicable only to a particular brand of contemporary conservative American evangelical Christianity. And, the "real life" anecdotes are obviously false, many in fact retelling urban myths, in an attempt to vilify non-"Christians".

I would recommend either the NIV Student Bible or the NRSV Access Bible instead. Both have accessible notes, one from a conservative (but still thoughtful) perspective and one from a mainline perspective, and would be far better introductions to the Bible for young people.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Bible!
This is an excellent bible for students and adults alike! The translation is amazing (my favorite) because it's not only exceptionally accurate (translated from the Greek & Hebrew text) but also written in conversational everyday English, so it's like a breath of fresh air you totally understand what your reading. And when it comes right down to it that's exactly the way Paul wrote his epistle's to the people - in everday common Greek language that people used on the street. And isn't that the point to read God's word in everyday speech so you can understand and apply what you've read.

Content wise it's amazing and presented in a very graphically pleasing and easy to read manner. Very attractive. There are book intro's, life application notes in the text, relevant "Ultimate Issues" articles, "Here's what I did" articles of students and how they lived out the word in their lives, "I wonder" articles, "Moral Dilemma" notes of real life case studies where young people had to make important decisions, "Personality Profiles" of bible people, "MegaThemes" at end of each book are study questions on the main themes of that book, also there are charts, maps and artistically designed memory verses. The content is so personal and applicable for student and adult alike. And graphically it's such a treat to read.

The only drawback I have with this bible and a pet peeve of mine with Tyndale's bible design's is that I wish they would go all the way on their design. They always do something to short change it. In this case and in most cases with them they could have gone all the way and printed with two colors as opposed to one color black. Also, they could have used better quality whiter/thinner paper. I love thin paged bibles and I know alot of bible readers do. Those two drawbacks is the reason why I didn't give this bible the full 5 stars treatment.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Bible Available
This is the best Bible I've ever owned. It's written so it is easily understood by anyone these days.I've had another teen Bible, but this one way surpasses it in quality and readability.I would highly recommend this Bible to anyone new to to Christianity or has been a Christian for a long time.I had always considered myself pretty Bible literate, but this one made me realize a lot more.It is also great at showing how you can use the Bible as an everyday example. This is a must have for every Christian.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great map for the Christian journey!
This Bible is one of my most cherished treasures. The Life Application Bible for Students is a great source of truthful and reliable help and information. It is the best gift that any person can get or give away. It is priceless and the best self-help book out there! Your money won't be wasted at all. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Prompt, correct, slightly damaged from manufacture
I ordered 4 new books, 2 were perfect but the other two had some sort of manufacture rubber glue on the edges of the pages. I was able to open each page carfully and separate them but it would have been nice to have them without residue. The residue doesn't come off but the book can be used.

The content of the book is fantastic. It is a nice little pocket size practical guide for common questions regarding what the Bible says about current and classic questions. I gave them to 3 teenagers and one young adult--well received. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best student study bible out there.
I was super hesitant to get this Bible. I saw the aqua one at borders for $26.xx and came to look on amazon and it was 20 bucks. Still i was hesitant cuz i lean more towards word for word translations like the esv and niv compared to dynamic equivalence translations like the NIV.
However, i'd spent a good amount of time going through the aqua colored edition that i realized this Bible would be great for me. So i decided to get it as my third Bible and use it for the purpose of the learning tools in it.
Good thing is that i found this blue one, there's an orange one too but they are the same as the $20.xx aqua one. Different print dates but both second editions. I even went to the NIV website to look at the pdf chapter onesof each one just to make sure they were the same and it were so i bought it.
I did get here and i'm glad i got this $15 one cuz it's the same as the aqua colored one, the only difference is the price. I mean it's the same thing on the same pages the only difference is the color of the bibles.
I like it, i've been reading it everyday and the dynamic equivalence is not soo different, at least the genesis isn't although when you get to proverbs, you see huge differences that completely change the meaning of the verse so for that, get an esv.
I'm a college student and some of the things i've read soo far does apply to me. I find it to be a great study bible. I spent weeks sitting at borders every afternoon comparing different study bibles. I mean reading differnt chapters and whatever.

If you are crazy about color and are willing to pay $5 extra bucks at amazon or 11 extra borders, get the aqua colored one but just know the extra money you are paying is for the cover of the book. Same things at the exact places in each page but just different color. They're both second editions. Amazon doesn't list it well, this one is also a life application studybible like the aqua one.
Otherwise, buy this one cuz you are going to be glad you did and for the price, it's soo worth it even if you don't like the NIV translation.

Oh, MY five star rating is solely for how good this bible is as a student study bible. It is NOT my rating for the NLT translation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Student Life Application Bible
Great Bible - easy to use and the kids like it and enjoy the "extras"

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
I just began reading this, but so far it has been extremely helpful. There are submitted stories from students explaining situations they've been in and how they've applied that certain verse to their life.I've found a few and said wow! thats exactly how I felt and just what I needed to read.I've just recently got back into my relationship with Christ, and in the index of this book it offers exercises for people just accecpting Christ as their Savior, and also helpful tips for people who have a friend who just began their relationship.I'm eighteen and I would say this is a must read for anyone interested in renewing or beginning a relationship with Christ. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great inexpensive Catholic Bible for teens & graduates!
I'm a Catholic religious education teacher for high schoolers.I find this particular Bible to be a GREAT inexpensive Bible to give to junior high school, high school, and college-aged Catholic kids because not only is it an NAB (New American Bible, which means that it has very helpful footnotes, is a very accurate translation, gives great summaries and background info for each book of the Bible, and has the impramateur) but it also has a Q&A section at the front that is written in a style that teens will definitely be able to relate to and answers questions that will certainly come up for them at some pointabout the what and why of basic Catholic beliefs, dealing with depression, answers about premarital sex & chastity, abortion, drug & alcohol use, what Catholics believe about the Pope and why, what Catholics believe about Mary & the Saints and why, etc.I'm giving one of these to each of the graduating seniors in my class this year (I wish I could afford to give one to each kid in my class -- not just the seniors!)I'm also going to give it to three nieces who are graduating this year.I thought about giving them classier-looking fake-leather-type Bibles with their name imprinted on the front, but I think that this Bible will be much more useful to them in the long run because of the great Q&A section (about 100 pages or so) in the front; and even though I doubt that any one of "my" kids would pick up a Bible and read it now (they pretty much come to R.E. classes grudgingly and disagree with much of what the Church teaches about morality), I think that there will come a time when they WILL pick it up and browse through it, or look for specific answes in it.This Bible is an answer to my prayers to find just the right graduation gifts for these kids!(I had just about decided on "Did Adam & Eve Have Bellybuttons?" -- which would have been a great choice, too, although I really wanted to give them a Bible -- before I found this Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Bible!
Easy to understand and very easy to read. This was my first Bible and I have since gone on to love reading all versions because of my strong base I received from this Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful New Testament for teens
I am so sad that this version of the New Testament is out of print! I was happy to find three used ones at this site and I bought them right away to pass on to teens that would benefit from a wonderful, easy to understand contemporary English version of the New Testament. Before the new testament begins, the first 100 pages are also fabulous. They are filled with questions and answers for Catholic teens on their faith.I have bought one for each of my three children and my daughter has given copies to her friends. The New Testament is written in such an easy to read format, with solid Catholic interpretation in the margins.Teens need to have questions about faith, catholicism, sexuality, abuse, depression, the papacy, ..... (to name just a few of the questions and answers written about) answered in a truthful easy to read sensitive manner that is consistent with the teachings of Jesus and His one, holy, apostolic Church. What a joyful read!I hope it goes back into print in the future.

4-0 out of 5 stars Comfortable to use, not enough white space
If you attend a Catholic church in the US, you're already familiar with this translation.

I'm not a Bible scholar, so I can't speak to the quality of the translation. I find it readable; when I read some translations..., I find myself wondering, "What is really being said here? What's it say in the Greek or Hebrew?" The language in the New American seems less ambiguous to me, although that just could be because I'm used to hearing it in church. I haven't used the notes, so I can't say anything about those.

Given that I can't review the content, let me say of this edition, the book itself is comfortable; slightly smaller than a typical (not mass market) paperback, thin enough to grip in the palm of your hand, sturdy, and light, it's easy to *use*. You don't have to be sitting at a desk to read this Bible. The paper seem a little grainy, not pure white, but the type is clean and the ink doesn't smudge. And I think the paper, while thin, is sturdier than the bright white onion-skin in so many other Bibles. My only gripe would be that the margins are so small you can't just hold the book and read the middle column; you really have to stretch the binding to get at the words on the inside columns.

Overall, a nice edition; it's portable, fits easily in your backpack, and is easy to handle.

4-0 out of 5 stars An eye opener
This bible brought helped guide me in my endeavor to engage myself in my religion. It was easier to read and understand than some of the other versions that I have read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Bible Ever!
I have not been able to put this Bible down ever since I came across the paperback version a few weeks ago at a used book store! The introduction to each book of the Bible and the notes throughout help you gain a better understanding about what you are reading. I plan on ordering a hardback version for both my husband and I since we teach Sunday school. If I can find this version in large print, I will order one for my mother too.I would highly recommend this version not only to new readers of the Bible, but to anybody who is serious about learning the Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great beginner Bible Dctionary
I found that this is a great dictionary for the person just getting started studying the Bible. The pictures and explanations are great. The timeline in the beginning is a real asset. I teach the Training for Service class at my church and this timeline is invaluable to understanding the 400 years between the two testaments. All the charts and displays are nice and vibrant and easy to read. If you purchase it, you will enjoy and get much use out of this.

5-0 out of 5 stars This one is worth it....
This is a wonderful bible dicitonary not just for students but for all, its been very helpful...definitions clear and precise...amazing...

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Value
For the intent and scope of this beginner's Bible dictionary, it is of outstanding value and the price is not bad either.I recommend this dictionary to my seniors Bible study classes and I'm giving a copy to the young man I'm mentoring for confirmation.Word meanings are short, concise and easy to understand and it is filled with all sorts of explanatory charts, tables, diagrams and maps, as well as, some superb artwork.I have a more complete dictionary for home study use but this is the one I carry to class.

4-0 out of 5 stars Student Bible Dictionary
I purchased ten of these for our church adult and teen bible study groups. The book is simple for teens and even though perhaps a little too simple for our adults, it is basic and satisfies the text that they need a bible dictionary for.The price was great, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for beginners and people looking for illustrations
I didn't realize how much I enjoyed using this dictionary until someone stole mine!!!It has great charts and graphs and is colorful...it has the kings in order and during what time of history...it has pictures...it's simple enough for those who do not want to be weighted down with fancy jargon...so if you are looking for a sophisticated dictionary, this is not it!However, it serves it's purpose. It gives good information, but not a plethora of info...but well worth the money spent! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very good Bible edition with generally excellent commentary
I will start by saying that I own three copies of this Bible. The only thing that keeps me from giving this edition of the Bible an absolute "10" is that the commentary is occasionally theologically squishy. For example, I would have preferred even a "moderate" stand on the question of abortion when commenting on Psalm 139.Other than this, the commentary is excellent with page-length summaries of each book, frequent short treatments (occasionally half-page length) showing the absolute relevance of scripture passages to modern situations, and several plans to help the student read the Bible. It is excellent for somebody who is not a Bible expert but just wants to know what the Bible teaches ...
