FTER the siege of Derry, Walker accompanied the British army to the River Boyn, where he fell by the hand of the enemy, just a few hours before the victory. His work was accom- ;, plished, and God called him home! At the base of the shaft, are several large cannons, which were used in the siege of 1649, when Sir Charles Coote's army, which had espoused the side of the Rump Parliament, was besieged for five months, and in 1689,when the Protestants of the north, declared themselves in favor of William, Prince of Orange. "Roaring Meg "is the largest cannon on the wall, and measures four feet six inches in girt at the thickest, and eleven feet in length. It bears the following inscription, on its back, ' Fishermongcrs, London, 1642."Dekry's Cathedralhas one of the most imposing sites of the city. Standing, as it does, upon the highest pinnacle, and having a lofty spire, it gives great effect to the whole place.
