Into the various descriptions of churches, chapels, priests, parsons, congregations, &c., which it contains, a lively spirit, which may be objectionable to the phlegmatic, the sad-faced, and the puritanical, has been thrown. But the author, who can see no reason why a "man whose blood is warm within" should "sit like his grandsire cut in alabaster," on any occasion, has a large respect for cheerfulness, and has endeavoured to make palatable, by a little genial humour, what would otherwise have been a heavy enumeration of dry facts. Those who don't care for the gay will find in these sketches the grave; those who prefer vivacity to seriousness will meet with what they want; those who appreciate all will discover each. The solemn are supplied with facts; the facetious with humour; the analytical with criticism. The work embodies a general history of each place of worship in Preston--fuller and more reliable than any yet published; and for reference it will be found valuable, whilst for general reading it will be instructive. The author has done his best to be candid and impartial. If he has failed in the attempt, he can't help it; if he has succeeded, he is thankful. No writer can suit everybody; and if an angel had compiled these sketches some men would have croaked. A wonderful commuting partner
This set plays in my car, so I can listen to long segments at one time. My previous car's CD player was not equipped with the necessary MP3 capability, although they played easily on my computer. I used to attend Chuck Smith's church and really miss being in California mostly because I can no longer attend Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa to hear Sunday night Bible study. While listening to Pastor Chuck's Bible commentaries, I find myself constantly saying, "so that's what it means." He's just great at tying the Bible together.

It's like going to Bible College...homeschool status!
These are actually required for all Bible College Students in Calvary Chapel Bible college to complete during their stay.They get the student version which is sped up 1.5x speed though.This version is the o.g. version! These are the messages that you can hear on Pastor Chuck's radio program "The Word For Today" Monday through Friday at the normal speed.The MP3 files on the discs make uploading his entire library onto your computer a breeze.One of the greatest resources I've ever encountered for Bible study.

Everything you could possibly need is right here. To be able to go through the entire Bible, verse by verse, chapter by chapter, book by book with such an amazing Bible teacher is such a blessing. Pastor Chuck clearly explains and expounds on the Word of God in such a clear and concise way. I was amazed that this also included some of his books as a bonus feature. You couldn't ask for anything more!
