GUIDE TO THE THREE SYMBOLIC DEGREES OF THE ANCIENT YORK RITE AND TO THE DEGREES OF MARK MASTER, PAST MASTER, MOST EXCELLENT MASTER, AND THE ROYAL ARCH. The purpose of this work is not so much to gratify the curiosity of the uninitiated as to furnish a guide for the neophytes of the Order, by means of which their progress from grade to grade may be facilitated. Every statement in the book is authentic, as every proficient Mason will admit to himself, if not to be public, as he turns over its pages. The non-Masonic reader, as he peruses them, will perhaps be puzzled to imagine why matters of so little real importance to society at large should have been so industriously concealed for centuries, and still more surprised that society should have been so extremely inquisitive about them.Complete with over 100 illustrations showing the signs, emblems, handshakes, postions, ect... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Masons!
To begin, this book helps explain the first 3 degrees in Freemasonry (and more, Royal Arch degree etc.). It gets 5 stars for its concise account!

My review should be helpful because my reasons for purchasing this book are likely similar to many.

I purchased this book before becoming a mason and was intrigued to learn about what exactly goes on within a lodge. At first, Duncan's gave me a superficial understanding. Though admittedly, it was rather dry and boring to read, as I will expect most non-masons will find.

However, having entered a lodge and re-reading Duncan's Ritual, it becomes a fascinating book. This is because it provides one with an account of the experiece he just went through. For this reason alone it is fascinating.

With that said,

1. if you are a non-mason and have no intention of ever becoming one this book probably isn't for you. You will just become bored (in my opinion). Although, it should satisfy your curiosity of what goes on inside a lodge.

2. If you're a non-mason and are considering joining a lodge I don't recommend this book either. Like the prior example, you'll likely find it boring. Further, you might spoil the mystery when you do get your first degree. I can vouche for this myself.

The following analogy might give you an idea of why this book will be boring to the non-mason.

It is like reading a finely composed musical score on paper, for instance Mozart (a mason, if you didn't know). The music doesn't really come alive until one hears the experience. The same goes for receiving your degrees in Freemasonry.

3. If you are a mason, and especially if you have just gone through your three degrees, this book is invaluable. It will help you reflect on what you just went through. You'll be able to put a face (from your own lodge) to the officer positions described in this book. Wow! To me that is half the fun.

-----

Overall, this book is most useful to masons looking to reflect on their own experiences in the lodge. Non-masons probably won't find it exciting.

There are, give or take, some small details that are specific to the time and location (New York 1920s?) when this book was first published. Nevertheless, 98% of the book should remain accurate.

Another book I recommend to masons is "The Meaning of Masonry" by Whilmhurst. Its a bit antiquated in its style, but its lectures provide deeper insight which I found enlightening.

McCoys Dictionary of Freemasonry was also helpful in self-study. Mackeys is good too.

Book Description
Long recognized as more than the writings of a dozen or so philosophes, the Enlightenment created a new secular culture populated by the literate and the affluent.Enamoured of British institutions, Continental Europeans turned to the imported masonic lodges and found in them a new forum that was constitutionally constructed and logically egalitarian. Originating in the Middle Ages, when stone-masons joined together to preserve their professional secrets and to protect their wages, the English and Scottish lodges had by the eighteenth century discarded their guild origins and become an international phenomenon that gave men and eventually some women a place to vote, speak, discuss and debate.Margaret Jacob argues that the hundreds of masonic lodges founded in eighteenth-century Europe were among the most important enclaves in which modern civil society was formed. In France, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Britain men and women freemasons sought to create a moral and social order based upon reason and virtue, and dedicated to the principles of liberty and equality.A forum where philosophers met with men of commerce, government, and the professions, the masonic lodge created new forms of self-government in microcosm, complete with constitutions and laws, elections, and representatives. This is the first comprehensive history of Enlightenment freemasonry, from the roots of the society's political philosophy and evolution in seventeenth-century England and Scotland to the French Revolution.Based on never-before-used archival sources, it will appeal to anyone interested in the birth of modernity in Europe or in the cultural milieu of the European Enlightenment. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I Disagree with the Prior Review
Ms. Jacob has done a wonderful job showing how the essentially non-mystic, scientific and artistic Enlightenment was "translated" into a political movement by the 18th century Masons. It is extremely well done.

The Mason's historic opposition to the Catholic Church - and to other authoritarian and non-democratic institutions of all kinds (including "Holy" Russia, as the prior reviewer chooses to call it) - political as well as religious, is well established historic fact and, as such, was critical to the development of modern western governments' tenants of religious toleration. THAT is history and THAT is Ms. Jacob's theme. Whether you approve of the Mason's or not, she clearly presents their critical role in history.

After reading and completely enjoying the book's scholarship and perspective, I wanted to let other readers know that, in my opinion, the prior review is simply a strong pro-Catholic and anti-Masonic view of history, and is not a review of the book, which is excellent.

1-0 out of 5 stars Exalting the Evil
"Living The Enlightenment" is not an appropriate title for this absurd manuscript.Certainly, we cannot experience this period of European history by perusing this horribly written book.A better title would be, "Exalting the Evil".For that is, indeed, what Margaret C. Jacob does between the covers of this work.

The book stands as, more than anything else, a panegyric to the hideous legacy of freemasonic "Enlightenment" thought and political action that led to the bloody French Revolution, was ostensibly founded on the philosophy of the regicidal 17th Century English Revolution, and carried through to the even more horrible 20th Century Bolshevik Revolution. In the Bolshevik Revolution, its leaders, Trotsky and Lenin, both harkened back to their intellectual predecessors, the Jacobins who, were, of course, children of this "Enlightenment".

What did this movement, upon which Ms. Jacob casts such lavish encomiums in this ridiculous book, represent? The Masonic lodges of 18th century Europe, as recorded by Jacob and others were places of radical politics, anti-clericalism, elitism, and unspeakable sexual perversion. This is the essence of the evil that Ms. Jacob seeks to exalt.

As to style, the writing is terrible. We are reminded in suffering through Ms. Jacob's poor excuse for prose of Denis Fahey's description of another author curiously also surnamed Jacob, whom Fahey characterized, quite accurately, as employing a "studied vagueness of expression".For illustrative purposes, we will cite a couple of examples:

On page 113 of her text, occurs the following memorable sentence,

"The message in the preface is clear enough, if somewhat disguised."

In a similar vein, on page 198, Ms. Jacob regales us with the following:

"However much the Enlightenment's endorsement of human equality was tied inexorably to literate and polite culture and deeply distrustful of "the people", it was palpably different from the rationale that justified separate and privileged estates."

Perhaps there is an esoteric meaning to such gibberish. But on the face of it, it is, like the bulk of the corpus of this text, complete and utter nonsense.

Finishing this book was a release from darkness. We have read this book, so that others will not be so encumbered. To any university professors who may be considering using this book as an adjunct to their coursework, we would urge them to consider other alternatives. This is the type of writing that drives many sincere and motivated history undergraduates into other disciplines.

Book Description
The Masonic Order is one of the most powerful Fraternal Orders in the world.Have you ever wondered why? Why did this order restrict membership to men of European descent? In this book Zachary Gremillion, Founder of the Imperial Society answers the following questions:What do these fraternal orders of Masonry have to do with African people? How did this order originate in Europe, and why were Black men in early America not allowed into membership until the coming of Right Worshipful Master Prince Hall, a colonial Blackman? Who are the Knights Templar? What was their relationship to the African Arabs/Moors also called Saracens? What did the Knights Templar find in Israel? Why were they at Jerusalem Temple built by African Hebrews? In this book Zachary P. Gremillion, a Master Mason, Thirty-second degree Mason and Shriner deals with the true origin of Masonry in Africa.Through intense research he traced what he calls the Proto-Masonic order to ancient Africa. He also deals with the Knights Templar and the Afro-Asiatic knowledge they found at Jerusalem Temple then to be executed, persecuted, and destroyed by the King and Pope.Prince Hall, Marcus Garvey, Noble Drew Ali and Elijah Muhammad are also addressed. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting Connections With Rather Circumstantial Evidence - in Unreadable Condition
I read this book as a follow up of Stolen Legacy and indeed the first chapter is devoted to that book, updating the controversy from 1954 to 2005.

African Origins of Freemasonry draws connections between many of the "world religions". Which isn't that new. However, the author connects them all to socalled Freemasonry. Including Moses, King Solomon, Jesus, Muhammad's close allies. But also Marcus Garvey and other rather political figures of more recent times.

A bit of evolution of modern Freemasonry is included, it's re-installation after ancient Egypt etc. in 18th century England and the newly independent USA. Some elaboration of the Knights Templars, Noble Drew Ali Shriners, the Moorish Science Temple of America and the Nation of Islam is provided in this context.

I am not sure, I know anything more about Freemasonry than before reading this book. It's about revealing the African origin of it all, only. As for that oath of silence, the author is bound not to tell too much - or anything at all. Which is at times very unsatisfactory: Some ancient African symbols, dresses and rudimentary philosophical ideas are similar (quote: "ALMOST similar", emphasis by author of book) to Freemasonry. That is occasionally less than circumstantial evidence, at other times I would deem that sufficient. However, this lacking sort of reasoning rather makes this a belief, valid only until further notice of more scientific fact. I am not really doubting the overall message of the book, it's just that I am surprised about the lack of hard evidence provided. It would have been more convincing to e.g. compare the teachings, as Stolen Legacy had compared Egyptian with Greek philosophy. But those teachings can't get revealed. I won't go into that notion of secrecy. As I know nothing about Freemasonry, her members may know, why they are that secretive. However, the original reasons may have served a purpose counterproductive today.

I never thought I would have to criticize spelling mistakes and the likes and in one or the other review I have refrained from engaging in this. However, this book is the absolute epitomy of that, thresholding into a phenomena. If you think, the first 50 pages are bad in this respect, get ready for the remaining 200! It gets worse by the page, as if the author had written this book in one night while forcing himself not to fall asleep. The only words readable as correct turn out to be intended as other words. Many, many sentences I had to read over and some over again to grasp the meaning, what the author REALLY intended to write. This is simply unbelievable. I thought about some sort of Freemasonry code hidden in all of that. I am amazed that there are publishers around not reading the books of their authors before going to print. I am sure, the author himself would have noticed this total text disintegration after a good night's sleep. This careless approach is an insult to the reader. And I am not squeamish, having no problems with the rather unorthodox writing styles of The Royal Parchment Scroll of Black Supremacy and THE HOLY PIBY: The Blackman's Bible. I mean, please: A word missing in the very first sentence of the book - on the front cover!

3-0 out of 5 stars Its good but...
Let's start with the positives.

First, the information presented here is very important to the African diaspora. The author properly places the ancient African societies of Kemit, Kush and Nubia at the head of the class where they belong. This is not just hot air being blown. The world has to accept the fact that the Greeks and Romans were only average students in the schools of Africa. They were repeating (or just claiming) things they were taught once they were allowed into the greatest schools the world has ever known.

Second, the author's information connecting the Masonic order, the Nation of Islam, the Moorish Science Temple, the 5% Nation and the Universal Negro Improvement Association is eye opening. Now it makes more since that the uniforms, organizational structure and teachings are so similar. It also explains why the groups are still working together. Malcolm X talked about the mockery of the Shriners and the analogy to the plight of African Americans in his book "The End of White Supremecy".

Third, I appreciate that fact that the author is no longer active in the Masonic order but he maintained his oath of secrecy by not saying too much
about the secrets. In this day, many "former Masons" have told "the secrets" since they are no longer in it because they know they can make lots of money talking. (Even though these men have taken an oath of secrecy, they have decided that the oath was not worth keeping. That says alot about their character.)

Now the other side...(These are just my observations)
1. Did anyone proofread this book before sending it to the printer? Starting with the front cover ("Dedicated to the sons and daughters of the of Africa"), there are mispelled words and punctuation mistakes that interfere with the flow of the reading. There are too many subject-verb agreement problems that make this book appear to have been written and typed in one setting. There were compound words that were separated, letters missing and misuse of homophones (using there and not their). It also keeps some people from believing anthing stated because of its appearance as an amateur piece of work.

2. What sources did the author use? There is no bibliography anywhere in this book. As an historian, I like to look at the sources used in many books to read them myself. I want to check the source myself to see if the author's interpretation is accurate. I also like to see if anyone else used the same sources. With the exception of some scattered quotes (incomplete and mispelled), it is really hard for the novice to follow the origin of these earth shattering revelations. People who are just starting to discover the ancient teachings of Mother Alkebulan need to be given more information. There are several books mentioned throughout but sometimes it is not clear if the person mentioned is the author or if the entire title is given. This subject of connecting Africa to the Masonic order has not been handle correctly in the past. This is a valiant attempt to do that.

3. What makes Zachary Gremillion a 90th degree anything? No where in this book is that addressed. He stated that he had been initiated into both the York and Scottish Rites of Modern Freemasonry and into the Shriners, all under Prince Hall affiliations. The Shriner degree doesn't really count as part of either Rite, while the York Rite goes up to the Knights Templar (13th) and the Inspector General on the Scottish Rite (33rd). I'm not sure if his extra degrees came from the Ancient Grand Lodge of Khamet or from somewhere else.

4. What exactly is the Grand Lodge of Khamet and how do we get more information or join? I understand that it is promoting the true teachings of the ancients before they were corrupted by Europeans. But I'm not sure how the organization can claim to have the pure teachings and still use the term Freemason. Referring to one's self as "children of the sun" (the definition of Freemason) is one thing but using the term is misleading.

These are just the things that bothered me while reading. Know this, I would still recommend that people read this book. There is a lot of very interesting explanations given in this book. I believe, unfortuantely, that the mistakes I mentioned above will keep some people from reading the book to the end, particularly those that don't want to hear what Gremillion has to say anyway. Reading part of it only gives you a piece of the light. Reading to the end will help complete the journey and open one's eyes to Africa's past glory and present legacy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Freemasonry Roots Revealed
Zachary Gremillion gives us a true history of the Free & Accepted Masons. He definitely did his homework, quoting & drawing from various reliable sources. The overall conclusion: Masonry is not a European invention, but has its roots in Africa.

Gremillion also gives a narrative history of Prince Hall, a colonial Black man. Prince Hall was born in Africa, according to this book, and very likely was a part of the ancient orders there. Further, he tells in detail, how African Lodge #459, was unjustly expelled from the Blue Lodge. But since Prince Hall was fully aware of the African origins of Freemasonry, he was not dependant on the Blue Lodge.

This book casts Freemasonry in a very different light than I have ever seen. Despite being a student of this work, Zachary Gremillion taught me a great deal. This book is recommended for all Freemasons, especially Prince Hall Masons. Also, anyone interested in African-American history should give this book a fair read. I give it 5/5 stars.

(Disclaimer: I know Bro. Zachary personally, and he is of a high moral & intellectual character, which makes the book even more powerful for me.)

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book on what Africans have done in WORLD History
WOW! This book is great! I have studied Khametic Wisdom and history for a while now. And I see alot of what was originated in Khamet, as far as instructions of life, are the foundation of all Masonary! My grandfather was a Prince Hall Mason in New Jersey. And he would always say that "we in the bible, and always learn our legecy". True Dat Grandpa! But as the author states there is more much more to the mystries of life than just in a masonic order. That I know its true. Alot of what the author say and didn't say, were lessons I have learn thru Khametic study. There are plenty of Temples that still holds these truths. Some may call them cults. I'm apart of a Temple that our NBT HET Queen is a world-known author. Queen Afua, she has revealed plenty that many hold as secret to the keys of life. We are not against masons, its just we focus on teaching Africans in America to go back to their correct state both mentality and physically. One of the first things I find out was that in every hour in the day. The life force energy of your body/spirit visits every organ of your body in different times of the day. So if you know someone who had heart surgery. There is a time in the day when this force is in the heart. If a doctor would perform the operation the patient would die no matter the results because of the life force energy was released. This is known by some Dr.'s who deal in that type of medicine. The point I'm making is that the life force/RA is always moving to different organs of your body throughtout the day. If we could learn how to treat RA/life force when in our organs we could live to the ages of biblical times! But the other side of this if you know where the force is you can also inflict death on someone with minor effort!
Zachary Gremillion work is extrtordinary! The one thing I must say that if the Khametic people knew so much and had libraries of wisdom and knowledge. And when europeans discovered and took them and only reveal certain documents or all to only brotherhood members. It makes a gentleman as myself to be curious about what my grandfather was. Because of all the available info. out here about Khamet is by a european and not a African. TUA NTR for Gremillion again! And I mean info. from the source not just the schlors of the copies of the source. I still have alot of questions but this is one of my many steps to be a mason. As Z. gremillion say "How long have you been a mason, All of my life!" Mr Gremillion I hope someone names a school or a street or a community center after you!!
NUK PU HRA CHA HE HI MTU P'TAH RA
I am a divine sacred Kingman who seeks words of power for foundation!

4-0 out of 5 stars Masonic Reference
Excellent for the new or Master Mason, for use at home or in the Lodge

4-0 out of 5 stars Worth reading
This is a wonderfully written book. May be difficult for some readers as some parts are in Old English. Keep in mind that Mackey is discussing 'legend' not known fact.

4-0 out of 5 stars Values and Beliefs, Not History
This is a beautiful book, and wonderful- if you recognize it as what it is.It is a collection of myths about the origins of Freemasonry, not a factual history. It does what all of our myths of our origins do- illustrate the principles and ideas we believe in.Many of the legends presented within are, in fact, unverifiable- such as the one that posits that Masonic secrets were hidden within pillars that survived the biblical Great Flood.

In fact, it is this legendary quality that makes this book so useful.Rather than an interesting historical review, this book can serve as a reference guide, both to our beliefs and our ideals.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Essential Research Book of Freemasonry
The History of Freemasonry is clouded with time, personal prejudice, suppression and many other factors. Yet, men like Mackey lay the paver-stones for the path of self-discovery amongst Masons. He gave many years of his life to this research and the book is well-worth every year he spent in dusty libraries, to produce this work. The beginnings of this book contain very archaic language, but the struggle is worth the time given to study. It seems that most books are a variation of this material, or refer to this material. Whether it is "the definitive history of Freemasonry," or not, is up to debate.... However, it is hard to appreciate NEW findings, without refering to books such as this one, to understand how much of the mass-market material is "accurate" or, at-least, Inspired-by well-documented research. I would expect to see this one on every Mason's bookshelf, but Anyone can appreciate the complex "History of Freemasonry."

3-0 out of 5 stars The book incites more questions than it answers
The book is quite thorough in citing the various theories regarding the origin and history of freemasonry, however, it leaves you hanging on what the author thinks is the correct one(if there is a correct one). For thenewly raised master mason this book will orient you on the mythologyregarding our craft. It will also impress upon you that the rituals areonly symbolic and as such are only partially based on history. The sadthing is that books like this tend to give out too much of oursecrets(check out Wilmhurst's book and see the word). The good thing is webrothers are enlightened as to the nature of our science.Besides onlytrue masons can understand the allegory and symbolism. ... Book Description
Explores the hidden history of Freemasonry from ancient Rome, through the Middle Ages, to the present

Shows the close connection between medieval masons and the Knights Templar

Illustrates the sacred nature of Roman and medieval trade associations

Reveals the missing link that connects the lodges of modern Freemasonry to the medieval brotherhoods of builders

Historians often make a sharp distinction between the operative Masonry of the Middle Ages and the speculative Masonry of modern times, emphasizing that there is no direct bridge connecting the two. Modern historians also have scoffed at Masonic claims concerning the close relationship between the Lodge and the Temple. Using medieval archives housed throughout Europe, historian Paul Naudon reveals that there was in fact a very intimate connection between the Masons and the Knights Templar. Church records of medieval Paris show that most, if not all, the Masons of that time were residents of the Templar censive, which allowed them to enjoy great exemptions and liberties from both church and state as a result of the protection afforded them by this powerful order.

Naudon shows that the origins of Freemasonry can be traced back to the collegia of ancient Rome. He traces the evolution of organizations such as the Comacine Masters, the Arab turuqs, and the brotherhoods of builders created under the aegis of the Benedictines and the Knights Templar, all of which provide the vehicle for the transmission of a sacred tradition from pre-Christian times to the modern era. This tradition is the source of Masonic ritual and symbolism, and it provides the missing link in the transformation of the operative Masonry of the medieval cathedral builders to the spiritual principles of modern speculative Masonry. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A Truly Great Work
This book is an indispensable tool, for the serious student of Freemasonry.
I do not recommend this book for the masses, curious, or highly opinionated dabblers, you may find it rather boring. I continually re-read and use this book for citing in my own work and as a reference tool.
Paul Naudon was an exceptional intellect. The amount of information and research covered is immense. Only years of such study and research could eventually yield to something as thorough as thisparticular work.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Much New
This book is basically a rehash of much old information, with little to instill new debate.

4-0 out of 5 stars A rare find amongst the myriad of speculative theories
This book presents as one of the best researched in the area of the history of freemasonry. The author has no hidden agendas to meet and so does not dabble in speculation - which unfortunately is becoming the "norm" for books on this topic.

As a thoroughly researched volume it does tend to bog down in names, dates and details, but this only lends more support to it's validity.

If you want a book that cuts through the nonsense you'll read in 60% of what others offer, and yet makes the history it documents almost as diverting as the wild speculations found in other books, this is the book for you. You will learn much.

3-0 out of 5 stars Maybe not your idea of secret
In looking at the title, I was expecting something along the lines of a book which was one part conspiracy theory and one part history.Something about the aura of freemasonry draws these kinds of thoughts to the fore. However, the author is giving us a historical explanation of the origins of the freemasons along with a bit of history about the Knights Templar.

First, the author tells us the distinction between operative freemasonry and speculative Freemasonry (the capitalization is the author's).The first refers to the organizations of builders. The second refers to the organizations which arose many centuries later and had not connected with the builders, but are the organizations we think of today when we think of Freemasons.

The book is not the easiest of reads as it was not designed as a quick narrative of suspense as are most books of Freemasonry. The author, very diligently, walks the reader through history to show how religion, government, and culture were united, spread, or opposed by the groups of builders.Without an understanding of architecture and a background in ancient history, this can be a little hard to follow. It is, nonetheless, very educational to watch the connections across the European and Asian continents.

This may not be the most exciting of reads, but it was not intended to be.It will provide the reader a more ancient and grounded understanding of the organization which became Freemasons.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best written & researched books ever connecting KT with FM
I have a house full of books on this subject - take my advice!
This one vol. belongs on your short list of books to read which connects the dots between the ancient Knights Templar & modern day Freemasonry.Due yourself a big favor and enlighten yourself with some important historical insights.Unburden your mind of previous theories which refuse to go back to what actually happened.
A novel like the Da Vinci Code this is NOT.
I am talking real scholarship from a translated text written by a Frenchman who knows how life was like in his country hundreds of years ago.
This author causes one to see into the past and understand how the culture really operated at this place & time.
Kind of rare to find a book like this any longer - just the facts please madam.

Now go and due your research on Rosslyn Chapel to complete the story!

"Seek, and ye shall find: if ye do not seek, neither shall ye find."

"A man could read every Masonic ritual there is, and discover all the "secret work," but he still would not be a Mason.Being a Mason does not come from study. It is something that happens in your heart and mind when you take the Degrees."

4-0 out of 5 stars Good reference for all curious guys about Free Masonry
This is in fact a guideline for free masons, starting from the first degree going right up to the last. It is an illustrated hand book, not a documentary or a novel.

If you are a free mason or a curious outsider, you can read this book for reference or fact finding purposes.

In fact, what Richardson has done is probably not very well received by the brethren, as he has apparently disregarded his oath to the order. However, as this book is around for more than a century now, it is fine to disseminate what the book is all about. ... Read more

This book is an excellent tool to help in your lodge work.Of course take some of it with a grain of salt just because we all know that there are some lodges with some masons who may do things a tad different, though not off center by any means.

This book differs from other instruction because it not only has the "how" but explains in detail the "why" behind it.I found it very useful for my library of masonic reading and turn to it often if I have a question on something.

The overall use of it is necessary if becoming a mason, or already one, for the fact it has definitions and terms that will help you no matter what lodge or branch of the fraternity you may be affiliated with.

1-0 out of 5 stars I can't understand why people write or buy this stuff.
Freemasons are a group of men looking to better the community. They rescue young people who suffer from broken bones and who are burn victims fly them to a Shriners hospital, put them back together and fly them back home all without cost, or asking them to join or even understand why. They are excepting of all races and religions, yet somehow they are constantly bashed for that because of some verses in the bible that people interpret in their own way. If helping poor unfortunate kids for no profit or gain is the devil's work, then where do I sign? I feel strongly that the only reason that these "churchs" bash freemasonry is that they will say or do anything to make sure that their members only spend their time and their money with the "church" that they belong to.Anyone who truly wants to research these "Facts" that Mr. Harris speaks about needs to look at a book titled "Is It True What They Say About Freemasonry" and keep in mind: "They who live in glass houses...."Is it True What They Say About Freemasonry?

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time
I'm a Christian first of all because I was born in a Christian family. I could be a Muslin or Buddhist... I strongly disagree that attack people, institutions or other religions is the rightway of living. Mr. Harris simply attack not only the Masonic Institution but all religions by saying that only "our" God is the real one. God is only one for all the universe, doesn't matter what religion you were raised in. But each of us can interpret whatever we want... Mr. Harris knows how to interpret in order to make money. Congratulations for him as a business man (only). However I think we lose more than we gain aggressing each other.

1-0 out of 5 stars Another Misinterpretation of Masonry
I am a Christian who holds to the five fundamentals of the faith.I am grieved and disappointed that this kind of misinterpretation is taking place among Bible-believing Christians. After reading a few titles along this same line, I see a correlation between believers who insist upon taking everything literally and anti-Masonic rhetoric.Freemasonry is full of allegories and symbolism, a point this author refuses to acknowledge. There is also an absence here of acknowledging that Freemasonry operates on general, not special, revelation.

If you're looking for a good, sound critique of Freemasonry, this one isn't it.Freemasonry isn't perfect by any means, but it also isn't occultic.I recommend "Born in Blood" by Robinson or "The Meaning of Masonry" by Wilmhurst as much more reputable titles.

3-0 out of 5 stars Freemasonry Exposed.....
For those who doubt the truths of the book Freemasonry by Jack Harris... try the following older but excellently researched
books..
The Craft and the Cross by Ian Gordon Kingsway Publishers
He too is an ex mason who had risen to successive levels in the Craft and the Holy Royal Arch..then God reveald to him the deception and the occult origins of Freemasonry and how it goes back to satanic rituals and occult practice.Even the so called Christian orders have origins in the occultic practices.
Whether or not one is a Christian is not the issue as far as Freemasonry goes - it is occultic.. which is of the Devil.

Apparently the Grand Lodg's statement that all reference to JAH-BUL-ON is to be deleted from Royal Arch ritual in the light of persistant protest. However, such a deletion cannot conceal the symbolism in both ritual and atefacts in lodge and chapter layouts, which betray the occule source of all so-called masonic wisdom and light.Even the masonic source material above
reveals the occultic origins of Freemasonry

FREEMASONRY IS KABALLAISM IN ANOTHER GARB.... see The Genuine Secrets of Freemasonry by F de P Castells... this masonic historian says quite definitely what it is...
The Word Kabbala/Kabala/Cabbala/Cabala/Quabala/Qabbala... is also mentined in the old books by Nesta Webster and others...some kind of occult mystic Jewish tradition.. based on a complex numerological system and very similar to Masonary and its progressive development through various stages in a quest for so called enlightenment. One can look up Cab(b)ala in the Concise Oxford Dictionary... a Jewish Oral Tradition, mystic interpretation, esoteric doctrine, occult lore, as meant only for the initiated... and occult as kept secret, esoteric, recondite, mysterious, beyond the range of ordinary knowledge, involving the supernautral, mystical, magical.

One Wynn Westcott had held office in the Grand Lodge of England and was appointed Junior Grand Deacon in 1902 and was also head of the Societas Rosicrusicians in Anglia - he was a practicing Kabbalist.. read his book for evidence of this.

If you read THE MYSTICAL Qubalah by one can easily see that FREEMASONRY (in its many forms) is indded Kabbalism in a different garb.... The similarites are unmistakable, from teh reference to God as THE GREAT ARCHITECT OF THE UNIVERSE.. the the lesser known symbols of the altar of the double cube, and teh equal-armed cross which appear on the Tree of Life s symbols of Malkuth, ... One should be disturbed by the linking of God's name with the names of the Babylonian god Baal (BUL) and the Egyptioan god Osiris (On)
The Kabbalist Dion Fortune claims that it is a Christian delusion to regard Jesus Christ as God incarnate.
(see The Mystical Qabalah)

Most masons do not worry or are aware of the occult origins of FREEMASONRY.. soare totally ignorant of them. They take part in the quasi-religious ceremonies without stopping to wonder about the origins of the strange words and symbols that are used. For many it becomes a substitue for religion, and the spirit of brotherhood which is engendered, as well as the many charitable works which resutl, gives them a sensation of being ON THE SIDE OF THE ANGELS... which is definitely fallacious. The only angels connected with FREEMASONRY are the fallen ones who first gave the Kabbala, on which the whole thing is based, andf far from being a harmless institution Freemasonry sould now be seen for what it really is, a DECEPTION WHICH LEADS MANY MEN (and women) awayu from the true GOD rather than towards Him.

Most men involved are of excellent character, and high morals and genuinely believe that the organisation is nothing more than a "system of morality" They may pass their entire Masonic life WITHOUT PROGRESSING to the higher degrees and thus never encounter anything to make them question this.
The above is credited to Ian Gordon in his book which was published by Kingsway Publishers - The Craft and the Cross
and as he says it is the Prince of Darkness himself who blinds our eyes and minds while masquerading as an angel of light.. and the "pure light of Masonic wisdom" to which the initiate is led, is beyond doubt nothing but complete and utter counterfeit to truth and is full of lies and deceits -half truthsthat deceive good men and that highlights precisely the insidious evil of Freemasonry in all its forms...

The Rose Croise (a so called Christian order) was once presided over by and received its instructiosn from a practising Lusiferian (DEVIL WORSHIPPER) Albert Pike.
In 1880 Pike issued INSTRUCTIONS to the 23 supreme councils of hte world which reveal his beliefs beyond any question..
part of which ran as follows..
To you. Sovereign Grand Inspectors General, we say this, that you may repeat it to the Brethren of the 32nd, 31st and 30th DEGREES - teh Masonic religion should be, by all of us initiates of the high degrees, maintained in the purity of the LUCIFERIAN DOCTRINE...
Pike goes on toe maintain that LUCIFER IS GOD, the equal of the Christian God Adonay and that

the true and pure philosophic religion is the belief in Lucifer, the equal of Aonay; but Lucifer, God of Light and Good, is struggling for humanity against Adaonay, the God of Darkness and Evil
Why do freemasons drink the cup of white wine and salt??
One cannot be a christian and drink from the cup of demons and be part of an organisation that is of the occult and inspired by demons...
So the secret word...AAAUUUMMM...AUM
sanskrit letters A stands for the creator (Brahma) the second U stands for the preserver (Vishnu) and the thirdM (siva)thedestroyer.. the mountain peak of masonry...
So Freemasonry at it roots is occulting and very un-christian
that is BRAHAMA VISHNU and SOVA// an unholy trinity of Hindu deities... a so called Christian Order of Freemasons...bears as much resemblance to Christianity as day to night.
Very few masons attain the 32nd degree and many continue in the organisation under a delusion for years and years and what deception Freemasonry is both to Christians and non christians... you may as well be playing with tarot, or ouiji boards or fortune tells - and we wonder why our whole western system is under a curse! May God forgive us all for our idols and blasphemies... be ye seperate and time for us to wise up
about the deception of Freemasonry

5-0 out of 5 stars The Truth Will Set You Free
"This secret organization has entangled ministers, elders, deacons, trustees, Sunday school teachers, and people all over the world in a web of lies and satanic rituals-all of which are veiled with the language of the Bible!" (So True, So True!)

I have studied many religions in my youth such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Muslim, Kabala, Wicca, Shamanism, and many other Occults in order to heighten my Martial Art Mental abilities so I know a little about the subject.

My Family has been Southern Masons traced back over 200 years! Grand Parents, Great Uncles & Aunts, Parents, Uncles, Aunts, Cousins all of which were Demolays, Rainbows, Masons, Eastern Stars & Shriners! All were God Fearing Southern Baptist, so I have heard it all about how great this organization is and mocked for over 10 years now for believing they were being lead astray from the true teachings of the Christian Holy Bible.

It was not until I embraced my Christian roots about 10 years ago did all the dark secrets emerge from my Masonic family. Everything they did in their rituals were OCCULT, Everything they believed lead them away from the Bible not closer to it as they thought or intended.

I would like to say that most Masons, Eastern Stars, etc. are honest, hard working, God fearing Christians who just don't understand! They think that by preaching the gospel, claiming to be Christians and raising money for charities that this organization is some kind of Christian icon in the world and void of wrongdoing.

Well even Satan believes in God, can quote the Bible and can help his followers to prosper! ***So, Does that make him a good Christian?***

I challenge anyone involved in this organization that believes themselves to be a Christian to study the Bible and compare the Do Not's in the Bible against the Do's in their Masonic practices. Also study some Occult books and see the similarities in the rituals you do.

Thanks for reading,
Larry

Anyone who says that this book is not well researched or written I would have to guess is a Mason and is protecting the image of Freemasonry. It's quite clear that the quotes in the book are from Freemasonry's teachings. They are the word of Pike who is the father of American Freemasonry. It's apparent that members were and are deliberately misled into believing false doctrine.I think it's sad that men choose to defend this garbage instead of standing up and denouncing an organization that is an obvious lie.Very sad how gullible these guys are. The authors supporting Ed Deckers position are the authors of Freemasonry. It doesn't get much clearer than that.

1-0 out of 5 stars Why not to waste your time with this book
When I was young an adult friend discovered my grandfather was a mason and provided this book in an attempt to thwart my interest in the organization. I read it and was quite disturbed. I actually attempted to spread Decker's filth because I foolishly believed him. I spent nearly 5 years researching freemasony during which time I satisfied myself that my loving grandfather who was also a pastor in the first christian church wasn't a part of some "Godless Cult". I am now quite ashamed that I contributed to his twisted attempt to chastise masons. He seems to have a grudge against Mormonism, but I am still not sure how he dragged us into it. I am now a master mason myself after much prayer and research pertaining to my decision to be initiated. And much to my pleasure I have found masonry to be an organization of quite moral and, in my geography, christian men who have quite a fear and respect for God and his teachings through Jesus. Freemasonry is no religion or cult or whatever Decker and his SaintsAlive group claim it to be. However, masonry has bestowed upon me a much clearer view of what it means to be a christian through its teachings of friendship, morality, and brotherly love. I strongly encourage anyone thinking about reading this book to please, please form your own opinion of masonry and not to mix Decker's knowledge and desecration of Mormonism with such an honorable group as freemasons.

He truly has misinterpreted masonry and I admonish the public when reading other masonic literature, not to look upon it as a religion, but a system of morality whereby a man may discover truths through which he may live a life that is pleasing in God's eyes, and resist tipping the balance of his life towards evil.

If it must be associated with religion let it not be a religion itself nor an antagonist to religion, but a complement to religion through which men may carry out their own religous beliefs in their own society.

Decker proved to me that he has no true knowledge of masonry.
I really don't know much of Mormonism, but the book seems to be more of a story he made up than anything factual. It is odd that the title says nothing of Mormonism, but the inside is a constant struggle to link masons to mormons. And for the sake of this review, this is one of the few books that I would throw in the fire.

1-0 out of 5 stars Decker's Sad Attempt to make a living.
First off, don't even waste your money on this book or any work by Ed Decker. The man makes a living off bashing Freemasonry by writing books and speaking and promoting himself.

Moromons happen to be Decker's other target for bashing and attacks in once again, a sorry way of making living and promoting himself. He happened to be a Mormon himself but was tossed out after it was found that he comminted adultry.

Decker just uses the same old tired arugments againest Freemasonry that others used in the past. However these objections were never fully reserached, some are half truths, while other are just outright lies.

Decker doesn't write books and speak about Freemasonry or the Mormon Church to inform people, if he wanted to do that, he'd be honest with them, he only does it for it profit and futher to promote himself. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Freemasonry and Judaism:As if I didn't know!
What are the forces behind the insane spirit of revolution that has taken the world captive, especially since the French Revolution of 1789?What has caused the downfall of Europe's traditional absolute monarchies and the authority of the Church?Who benefits from the decline of patriotism and traditional religious values? The answer, explicated by the French aristocrat Leon de Poncins, is the forces of Freemasonry and Judaism.I could not find a date of original publication as this is a reprint, but it appears to have been first published in the 1920s.The first part of _Freemasonry and Judaism: Secret Powers Behind Revolution_ discusses the role Freemasonry has played in the revolutionary spirit.Freemasonry is a secret society, with varying levels of involvement for its members, and takes the facade of a philanthropic organization. This is to cover up its ulterior motive, which is to wage an occult war against Christianity and traditionalism in general. The lower echelons of Masonic degrees do not know about the true meaning of Masonry any more than outsiders do, and who the true masterminds are of Masonic intrigue remain a mystery. It appears that Freemasonry is founded on the doctrines of the Jewish Cabala, the precise links lost in antiquity and obscurity.Similar teachings and groups can be traced to ancient times with a continuation of secret organizational structure, occult initiation rituals and symbols. Most of the instigators of the French Revolution were Masons. The Revolution was not a popular uprising against the ruling establishment and the Church as it is commonly believed, but rather planned out by unknown personages in high places who spread propaganda and made it appear that it came from the bottom-up when it was actually from the top-down.The Hexagram (six pointed Star of David) symbolizes the six pronged attack against traditional Christian civilization:

1) Religious (discredit Christianity and promote atheism and rationalism),
2) Ethical ("corrupt morality of the northern races"),
3) Aesthetic ("cult of the ugly and aberrant in art"),
4) Sociological (aristocracy out, plutocracy in, ferment class war),
5) Industrial and financial ("cartel and trust leading to abolition of private ownership and to state monopoly", a kind of communism through unbridled capitalism),
6)Political ("kill patriotism and pride of race").

The second part of De Poncins' book outlines the role of Jews and Judaism in revolutionary movements. The Jews have always lived "in exile" throughout the world, always at odds in some form or other with their gentile hosts.Their religion is one that is this messianic, materialist, based on the collective salvation of the group in the world rather than on the individual soul in eternity.Judaism is very community-centered and conservative, but at the same time Jews have spread liberalism, notions of "freedom" and "equality" to gentiles. If all the other religions and races of the world are confused and lack their own identity, then the most self-centered, ethnocentric group will dominate and perform the best materially and politically.Judaism and its occult creation and ally, Freemasonry, through wars, revolutions, and money manipulation covertly controlled all of Europe by the end of the 19th century.De Poncins notes that the only conservative country left in Europe which posed a threat to Jewish socialism and money power was Russia, with its Czar, landed aristocracy, agricultural economy, the Russian Orthodox Church and lack of democratic institutions.Holy Mother Russia thus was set up to bear the full brunt of Jewish wrath in the Russian Revolution.Several millions were brutally executed and massacred, including all levels of clergy, professionals, the Royal Family and nobility, small landowners and peasants, in the years following the Revolution.

Not all Jews are collectively guilty, of course, but their role as a force of decay has been the same the world over when they act as a group.De Poncins discusses Zionism and what it means to Jewish-gentile relations. The Jews have never been able to maintain their own country on their own (the State of Israel today is subsidized by American military and economic aid) and it appears that the Zionist movement has no intention whatsoever of bringing ALL Jews to Palestine.Zionism, like radical socialism, liberalism and communism, is another political subset in the Jewish plan for world domination, NOT and end in itself. The question is brought up of whether or not this is a conspiracy, along with the accuracy of the _Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion_.The _Protocols_ in and of themselves do not need to be a genuine document because what they state is substantiated by innumerable other sources, a considerable amount of which originate from Jewish authors themselves in addition to various "conspiracy theorists."It also appears that this whole thing is not strictly conscious among the Jews, but rather an inborn expression of their racial and religious being.Although international Jewish bankers have the political structures, finance, businesses, and most importantly the media in their hands, De Poncins encourages his readers to stand firm against the revolutionary spirit. Now is not the time for chauvinism, but for cooperation among all elements that serve to promote the traditional scene throughout the world over. One problem that I have with the book is that it does not contain enough of Poncins' actual writing, instead relying mostly on quotations from other sources. However, it does provide an excellent look at how exactly Freemasonry and Judaism act as forces of destruction in the name of "progress."Oddly enough, the publisher of this reprint is Afrocentric based on the other titles it offers for sale.

5-0 out of 5 stars Revolutionary Movements and Secret Societies.
_Freemasonry and Judaism_ by Vicomte Leon de Poncins is a rundown of some of the secret forces behind the revolutionary movements in the twentieth century.De Poncins examines the secret societies and the secret orders which underlie the freemasonic lodges and the causes of the French Revolution.De Poncins places much of the blame for the Terror of 1789 on the freemasonic lodges themselves.According to de Poncins, these lodges seek to overthrow the current traditionalist based society rooted in the principles of Christianity and in particular Roman Catholicism and replace it with a rationalist, atheist based society. While individuals involved in freemasonry at the lower levels may be unaware of its true intentions, those in the upper echelons of masonry as well as those belonging to various offshoot lodges such as the Bavarian Illuminati of Adam Weishaupt are more fully cognizant of its true intentions. Thus, masonry is a chief force behind the revolutionary movements of both the French and Russian revolutions.De Poncins also turns his attention to Judaism and the role both Judaism and Freemasonry have played in the creation of the First World War as well as the horrors of Soviet Russia.De Poncins provides a detailed sketch of the beliefs of the Jews as well as providing names and figures which support his thesis of a worldwide Jewish plot behind the Soviet regime.(See the book _The Rulers of Russia_ by Father Denis Fahey for a similar list of Jewish activities behind Soviet rule, written from a Catholic perspective.)De Poncins examines such Judaic masonic lodges as B'nai Býrith as well as other activities involving international finance and socialism. It is interesting that certain individuals among the Jewish elite support both international capitalist finanace as well as socialism. While this remains unexplainable at the naïve level, a proper understanding of the ideals behind Judaism enables one to see how both serve as aspects of the same corrupting system.De Poncins explains how usury is damaging to the economic system and the role both Judaism and international finance have played in instituting a system of usury. This book is a must read to provide an understanding of some of the secret movements underlying the revolutionary forces in the world of the twentieth century. It also includes a very worthy bibliography including works in English, French, and German of interest. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed this book
I really found this book entertaining and informative. The are some images permanantly etched in my head which I could do without but that aside, it's a great read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book. Truth hurts! It needs to be read more widely.
How can Christians remain tethered to this blasphemous religion of Masonry? On page 84 Jim Shaw writes; " Albert Mackey wrote (in the Masonic Ritualist), "Thus the trestleboard (blueprint for life) of the Jew is the Old Testament, of the Mohammedan the Koran; the Veda Scriptures of Hinduism and the writings of Baha-ullah are just as good as the Word of the Christians' God, for the fact is that all religions are never as good as the pure teachings of Freemasonry."

Masonry teaches that Jesus is no greater than the other "exemplars" of history (such as Mohammed, Buddah, Aristotle, or Joseph Smith). Page 94

33-degree Jim Shaw walked away from Freemasonry one day, after participating in a a Mason Maudy Thursday "black communion" ceremony in his Scottish Rites Temple in Florida.Participants of this ceremony are required to refer to Jesus as an "apostle of mankind who was neither inspired or divine". They then proceed to mock Jesus further by enacting a strange "black communion" ceremony. Pages 105-107

Another great book I highly recommend by another ex-Mason is "Masonry Beyond the Light".In his book Masonry "Beyond the Light", William Schnoebelen (now a saved Christian) talks about his experiences as first a Satanist and then a Mason who passed through nearly all the Mason Degrees, including some that American Masons are unaware of; such as degrees in Masonry like the Egyptian rites of Masonry and the Paladin. During his initiation into Palladium Masonry William sadly admits to standing with Masons, some who were also satanists and chanting; "Glory and Love for Lucifer! Hatred! Hatred! Hatred! to God accursed! accursed! accursed!". He says that hashish provides some of their "illumination", taking after the 1st "Illuminati" 18th century Mason Adam Weishaupt.

1-0 out of 5 stars Never let the truth stand in the way of a good lie
In this lively book, Tom McKenney co-authors the story of Jim Shaw, a man who left Freemasonry after learning that it was contrary to his Christian beliefs. Mr Shaw relates the story of his association with Freemasonry and his rise to become "one of its top leaders." Mr Shaw explains that he gradually became dissatisfied with Freemasonry as he grew in Christian knowledge, and he cites specific examples of what he considered to be non-Christian teachings in Masonry. But can Mr Shaw's testimony be relied on as completely true? Although his work went unchallenged for several years, Masonic researchers have uncovered what appears to be the secret Jim Shaw concealed, i.e., he exaggerated his Masonic standing and falsely claimed to have received honors which he never did. The reader of "The Deadly Deception" owes it to him/her self to see the wealth of information now available on Jim Shaw. In our book, _Is It True What They Say About Freemasonry?_ S. Brent Morris and I demonstate that although Tom McKenney's acount is lively, engaging and easy to read, the evidence posted online suggests that Mr Shaw yielded to religious enthusiasm and that Mr McKenney was his unwitting victim. This book is one of the easier-to-read anti-Masonic books, but it fails to convince this reader that the author's feet were planted firmly in the ground.

4-0 out of 5 stars [Three-and-a-half out of Four stars on reg. rating scale] Very good effort here.
'Reputation is a fragile thing', a popular
band once sang in a song back in 1982 (CT).
Credentials matter not when the contents
prove that something is not right and the
author honestly attempts to uncover some-
thing that intends, w/ duped followers, to
stay hidden (or is it 'hoodwinked'?). No,
the author may not have the 'cariculum vitae'
so to speak, to attack the octopus of Masonry
head on ON EVERY POINT [see my other reviews
pls., readers for more on masonic nitwits...]
but so what! Good is done in the daylight and
evil in building w/ windows painted shut, and
in darkness!

4-0 out of 5 stars Credentials of author unimportant (in my opinion)
In my opinion, it matters not if Jim Shaw had the credentials he touted. What matters is the content. Is it true? Can it be verified?I believe it is and it can be. The excerpts taken from pages of Mason literature as compared to what the Bible teaches make it clear that Free Masonry and authentic Christianity are incompatible.I'm saddened when I see the "Christian fish" and the Masonic emblem on the back of the same vehicle.I DO NOT HATE those who embrace Free Masonry, they too were created in the image of God and we as Christians should love them pray that the veil of deception be lifted so they may see the truth. The book does an excellent job at comparing what Masonic doctrine says versus what the Bible teaches. The content is easily verifiable by accessing Free Masonry literature.More could be said, but this is supposed to be a book review, not a lesson in Christian apologetics. ... Read more
