I am in the middle of this book, and have not been able to put it down. I came back to this page because I had to read all the reviews and see what others thought about it. I am caught. On one hand this book is so audacious, it is hard to believe. On the other, as one reader put it, she is either 100% lying or 100% telling the truth...and in my mind and heart I know that what she is recounting is probably true. Before September 11 I would not have believed this at all....but could it be possible that September 11 is a HUGE TRUAMA BASED CONTROL PLOY? I can't shake the thought. Discernment is the key here, and while this information seems impossible to believe, if you hear with your heart you will have to ask why would anyone make this crazy tale up? To what end? I also have read a great deal of channeled material that supports what is reported in this fantastical tale. It is chilling and disheartening. But knowledge is power. Time to wake up WORLD. Since this is not about the US GOVT, but about CONTROL of our WORLD by a very elite group that has lost touch with who they are....Our sexual energy is our power...and these folks are so out of balance, they long for what we have, HEART, EMOTIONS... we must begin with COMPASSION. And heal not only ourselves, but them in the process. This evil is a reflection of our own shadow. In healing that part of ourselves we can raise the vibratory level of the Earth so they will not be able to exist here.... it is becoming more and more urgent every day...we must use our hearts and not our brains - they can control our brain - our brains ARE BEING CONTROLLED. So think with your heart and read this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Argument for Renouncing One's American Citizenship
A century ago a book such as this would have been a call to the barricades. Today with the state as powerful as it is, this book simply makes you want to leave the United States and let it rot.

For those who haven't read the book, O'Brien's story is one of a survivor of a CIA-sponsored program called MK Ultra, which aimed to explore the limits of human "suggestibility." The program began following World War II, when numerous top Nazi scientists resettled in the United States, at the invitation of the CIA, to continue their research into mind control. The project was based upon the research finding that if a person is severely traumatized, he or she will "split" off a "multiple personality" as a defense mechanism. It was those "multiples" that CIA scientists sought (successfully) to "program." Today thousand of people exist as mind-controlled slaves whose "programs" for various activities, such as performance in pornography films, prostitution, message carrying, and drug "muling," can be "accessed" by their "controllers" by cryptic keywords.

A reader curious about O'Brien's book should be forewarned of the exceptionally bizarre nature of its revelations. In fact, at least in my view, the revelations are so bizarre, it would probably be a bad move to read this book without first reading something that "builds" up to it. A good primer on the subject would be John Decamp's _The Franklin Cover-Up_.

Those who do read the book and are of sufficient independent thought to see through the haze of disinformation put forward every day by the state-influenced newspapers and magazines and see the truth in O'Brien's book are placed in a difficult position. They're in possession of extremely rare knowledge, and, futhermore, extremely bleak knowledge. For the picture painted by O'Brien, unfortunately, is nearly without hope.

I am not a religious person, and I have always been both mildly amused and mildly offended by the stories of organized religion. But this is, I must admit, a book that can change such a person as me, for after reading _Tranceformation of America_, I'm left asking an unanswerable question.

Where did all this wickedness come from?

If anyone ever read Dolores Cannon, in her book, Conversation with Nostradamus, it says that world is controlled by two people at present time( present time being 1980's ). These two people resides in NYC and London which are two of the most powerful strong hold for illuminati just as David Icke described in his book 'Biggest Secret.' In the Conversation with N, it also says there is a group of people, a Cabal, that is somewhat similar to military juntas and hold key position of governments which are not very splash and spot light centering; however, these positions are powerful and is key point in process of making laws and etc. Once they get hold of a few of these positions, they enlarge their influence by putting their people on other key positions. How these people control other officials are by black mails from sex - the exact describtion is in the book when George Bush looked for any hidden cameras or stuffs like that and Bill Clinton said Bush doesn't have to worry about it because he is with him.

I am pretty sure Bill Clinton is a mind control victim. According to one of the Arkansas state troopers he would just glance an article filled with small characters and recite in verbatim. This is photographical memory endowed to who has Multiple Personality Disorder with relatively high degree of intelligence, just like Cathy O'Brien. Her description of her photographic memory is of course written in this book.

For the update, I think these illuminatis - cabal - whatever you want to call, got a hold on Mark Phillips and in turn brain washed him and made him new handler of Cathy O'Brien. For this detail, do your research on the internet. ... Read more

Editorial Review

One might expect The Satanic Bible at least to offer a few prancing demons or a virgin sacrifice, but if you hopped this train expecting a tour of the house of horrors, you're on the wrong ride. Far from a manual for conquering the realms of earth, air, fire, and water, The Satanic Bible is Anton LaVey's manifesto of a new religion separate from the "traditional" Judeo-Christian definitions of Satanism. While LaVey rails against the deceit of the Christian church and white magicians, he busily weaves his own deceptions.

The Satanic Bible claims the heritage of a horde of evil deities--Bile', Dagon, Moloch, and Yao Tzin to name a few--but these ancient gods have no coherent connection between each other or to Satanism, except that all have been categorized by Christianity as "evil." Calling on these ancient names like a magician shouting, "Abracadabra," LaVey attempts to shatter the classical depiction of Satanism as a cult of black mass and child sacrifice. As the smoke clears, he leads us through a surprisingly logical argument in favor of a life focused on self-indulgence. The Satanic Bible is less bible and more philosophy (with a few rituals thrown in to keep us entertained), but this philosophy is the backbone of a religion that, until LaVey entered the scene, was merely a myth of the Christian church. It took LaVey, and The Satanic Bible, to turn this myth into a legitimate public religion.--Brian Patterson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars True Magic and Reason Exalted!
This book has a very special place in my life for two reasons:

1. It surprised me with it's lack of hype or madness;

2. I could almost believe, with some grammatical variation, that I had written it myself.

This book made me aware that I was not "the only one who felt this way". High Priest Anton Szandor LaVey has here written a text that agrees with my own nature.

I was actually in the process of cleansing the ridiculous bonds of ignorant additions from the Magical Arts when I finally read what I had previously assumed to be a fraudulent, hyped up jest. My only motivation for reading the Satanic Bible initially was purely amusement. I was both surprised and exultant to find that this work was expressing my own feelings and goals. In addition, I was surprised to find it had been written (just) before I was born!

This is a text that details True Magic and Natural Religion. To authentic Witches and Warlocks it conveys that feeling of "coming home". My only regret is that I shall never meet the author personally.

If Magic is what you seek - buy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars At Least, Entertaining...At Most, Enlightening
Okay, now looking at this book, throw out the words "Satanic" and "Bible" from your consideration. Can you do that? If so, you're ready to embrace everything this book has to offer without the weight of societal prejudice to weigh you down.

This book isn't talking about hating deity or being the Antichrist or any kind of dross like that. Shock of shocks--this is a book of PHILOSOPHY. Whether LaVey himself originally conceived of these ideas or not is unimportant; he did write them down so that you and I could use our own minds to read, ponder, and draw our own conclusions.

Here's my tip, folks. LaVey has five Satanic tomes to his credit. Most people begin with the Satanic Bible, but I think this is a mistake. If you are just beginning to explore LaVey's world, read the Devil's Notebook or Satan Speaks! before attempting this one. I say this because the other books are examples of philosophy in action, and the Satanic Bible might be clearer for a reader with this background.

And if you get easily offended at the word "Satanic", remember there are plenty of people around who would get offended by the word "Bible".

2-0 out of 5 stars Good basis, but idk if this ever had to go on paper...
But he made a load of money off of it didnt he!! This book was just the begining of a huge joke which is modern satanism. He took what had been a brutal cult ritualistic religon, and toned it down for the avg. 13 yr old into the 'evils' of rock and roll to grab on to, and now its a big buisness between their corny web page and huge web store w/ everything from pins to cups they are makin a bucketload. What a load of crap, dont bother with this garbage, even if the logic makes sence. The logic in this book is natural type logic, satanism was never meant to be published. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Straight up truth will set you free!!!
I found it is the most straight-forward Christian book out today detailing what real satanists are actually involved in. I was ecstatic to find a book that gave the straight up truth about what she and others did to serve satan! With the upcoming of Harry Potter and witch tv shows glamorizing witchcraft and the occult, as a life-long Christian, I've always wondered just what real witches and other devil worshippers actually do and how they encounter the devilor become devil worshippers in the first place. She talks about how children are given to Satan from birth which totally explains child killers (which I also have a scholarly interest in). She discusses things Christians might do in their daily lives that may affect them in the spiritual realm unbeknownst to them. Rebecca also talks about demon possession in detail, and how demons can use a persons body who is very involved in the occult world. I am a criminal justice student who will enter the world of law enforcement soon. I will be encountering people who are under the devil's influence (like in Rebecca's book) on a regular basis and am very happy to have this insight without having to go read an actual devil's handbook to find out where these people come from. The reader can visualize exactly what takes place. I think this book is a wake-up call for all people, especially Christians who don't really pay attention to occultists or think that spiritual warfare is not so serious. It will bring you closer to God as you get a better understanding of how the enemy operates.

Lastly, I just want to say the devil is a liar, and I agree with someones review before mine when they said God (the Holy Spirit) will let you know if what you're reading is false just like when you're listening to a false preacher, and you say to yourself, he is not speaking the word. This author speaks the word in her book in a loving and Godlike manner showing you she is just trying to save and inform the world (like she did the witch in this book). There is an anointing on this literature.

4-0 out of 5 stars There Is A War Going On
If you ever doubted in your life that there is a war being fought every day then you need to read this book. It is chilling to think of the battle that is being fought in air and to know that it is our eternal souls that is at stake. But thank God for Jesus who PAID IT ALL with his precious blood. The enemy is nothing to play around with and if anyone is struggling with which side he should be on then I suggest this book. Dr. Brown was able to tell her story of a particular battle that didn't take place in a land far away and wasn't reported on the evening news. God allowed her to see into the supernatural realm so that she could report of God's Glory and Power and lead people away from the lies and deception and to the light of truth. This book is her testamony of God's awesome power and VICTORY!! After reading this book you won't have to wait until the battle is over, you can shout now cause you know in the end GOD IS DEFINATELY going to WIN. To God be the Glory !! With the Agape Love of Christ

5-0 out of 5 stars Luke Warm Christians
Whenever i read the reviews for this book i become disturbed. Christianity as we see it in the bible has become so diluted and christians have become confused as to who they serve, and who GOD really is. In the misdt of this world, it seems like everyonewho goes to church at least 4 times a year and prays "our father who art it heaven.." can call themselves christian, but they do not really know the power of GOD. Being a christian IS about going to church and believing in GOD, but it also about arming yourself with knowledge, and fleeing from ignorance. Ignorance will kill you! Satan is all around us. His worshipers are an imbedded part of our society and yes, esp in the hospital. I am from AFrica, and a similar thing started happening to my older sister when she was nine. She fell ill, and went to see a doctor who drew blood, and my mother said he went to another room and began to shout and talk to himself. He came out and gave my mother some pills to give to my sister to take 4 times a day. Short after my sister started vomiting green stuff, and almost died. (she had a rare form of malaria that infected her liver) Shortly after they found out this guy was a witch doctor. My mother then read this book and began to pray over my sister. within days she was off her deathbed, and was completly cured. This book saved my sister's life.
If you say you are a christian, PLEASE read your bible everyday, if you really read your bible you would understand that everything written in this book is the truth.
satan has so ilfultrated our society and world that we think that everything that asks us to give up the things we like MUST not come from GOD. Trully following GOD with all your heart means you have to give up alot of the things you like. Being a true christian is not easy.
Robecca Browns book is not to be taken with a grain of salt. It is truth 100 percent. The reason most christians do not beleive is not because they do not believe in GOD, but if they believe this story is true, then thier whole world is blown to bits.
Its almost like the matrix, which is kind of funny, but true.
It is a real WAR, and you can remain ignorant, but that is your disadvantage. Do you believe that GOD created us just to live on the earth and go to church on sunday, watch TV and go to work the rest of our lives?
If you trully beleive that then you are not understanding the awesome power and the perfectness of GOD. You are not giving him the glory and credit he deserves.
God did create us to worship him, he also created us to fight evil and the devil everywhere we saw it. Why do you think the disciples cast out demons? Why do you think Saul spent the rest of his life writing letters to all the churches telling them how to guard themselves against the enemy. We dont call satan the enemy just because he is bad, we call him the enemy because he is trying to KILL US everyday, and if you believe that the war is a lie, then you are letting him decieve you.
READ YOUR BIBLE! the bible is the most important tool we have at our disposal. even if you do not read this book, read the bible! and read it carefully, pray about reading the bible, and think about it as often as you can. The bible can save your life! and if you don't read the bible, or have never read the bible, dont read this book.
The only way to fight off the attack of satan is through the holy ghost who arms you with the word of GOD, that comes from the bible.
"greater is he that is in me than he who is in the world" only works if you are filled with the holy ghost. tht supreme being. If you belive in God, but have not been filled with the holy spirit, he is NOT inside of you.
You are not automatically born with the holy spirit, you have to ask him to come.
If you havent asked him, then you are only flesh, with no spirit. satan is stronger than ANY human on earth. ( i am in no way glorifying him, i am only telling the truth. satan has magical evil powers, you do not, simple as that) the only person satan is not stronger than is GOD the all mighty. (satan got his power from GOD)When you ask the holy spirit to come live in you he protects you from all the "flaming arrows of the evil one" and no weapon formed against you will prosper. But God is kind and a gentleman, he will not force his way into your heart, he gave us free will.
TO ALL LUKEWARM CHRISTIANS:
If you go to church every sunday, and pray luke warm prayers to GOD whenever you need him to do you a favor. You don't trully know the power of the LORD GOD. Please read your bible, pray fervently and find out more about him before you make accusations that are riddled with ignorance.
GOD IS AMAZING and AWESOME. He is the creator of all the ends of the earth, and do not forget that satan was Lucifer, the most beloved of all of GODs angels before he became satan. GOD gave satan A LOT of power, but his power will never match GODs.
Christianity is NOT a joke! it is Real, and it is hard.
Cancer, AIDS,MS, Malaria, and all other diseases can be explained scientifically through atoms and electrons and all that other stuff, but who do you think created atoms and electons? Who created science? who created the human body? Those diseases have medical backing, and if God can make Saul blind, if he can raise the dead, if he can do all these wonderous things, dont you think he can also cure caner?
GIVE GOD THE CREDIT HE IS DUE, and do not underestimate the devil. He is tricky!
God bless and keep his hedge of protection over all of you, in jesus name! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Whoa! This book really opened my spiritual eyes!
Since I accepted Lord Jesus as my Savior and Lord in October 1994, someone introduced me about "He Came To Set The Captives Free" by Dr. Rebecca Brown. I read her book and was so impressed and decided to order other three books through Amazon.com. When I finished read my books, I saw the world completely different! Whoa.

Yes, I confirmed that Dr. Rebecca Brown is right because I experienced with "my ministry" into someone (my friend) that had possessed with evil spirits! I finally resolved the problems with her a week later. Without reading my books, I can't resolve the same problems successfully. Praise the Lord!

Also, I confirmed that Dr. Rebecca Brown is right about recent UFO sightings in secular media and my child nightmares as demonic manifestations. When I was a kid, I frequently experiecned nasty nightmares when I tried to sleep in the dark room. I can't sleep with turned off lights.

With my testimony about three of my terrible nightmares.. When I started to have a dream, I am washing myself in my tub... I saw the cartoon-like purple lungs crawled across the wall out of the edge of wall. The dream ended. I woke up and was so afraid.

Another one: I started to have a dream... I saw the lit-up cartoon-like ceral box with a picture of Robin Hood crawaled on the ceiling out of the edge of the room. The dream ended, I woke up and was so afraid.

Last one: My dream started... I saw the some buildings and clear sunny sky.. Then I saw the millions of skeletons marched over the open field around the buildings. The dream ended... Etc..

Yes, I have so many terrible nightmares when I was a kid... My parents did not understand what I explained about them but they told me just a dream. So sad. :-( I do not know that until I read this book. I was so shocked to find out about child doorways (terrible nightmares). I still am seeking for the complete deliverance from Satan's strongholds through my prayer.

In Christ, Tim Stark

5-0 out of 5 stars Sequel to He Came To Set The Captives Free
In this sequel, Dr Rebecca Brown shows how the Lord continues to protect her and Elaine after her (Elaine's) final deliverance. She talks about issues that are important to every Christian, such as prayer, hearing God, covenanting with God and having a holy fear of God. Dr Brown also shows, in detail, the various doorways that many people, including Christians, unwittingly open to Satan. She shows conclusively that the "Jesus" worshipped in Roman Catholicism is not the Jesus of the Bible and reveals the origin of several anti-scriptural practices in Catholicism. Dr brown shows the link between New Age and Satanism. Also discussed is the seldom-mentioned topic of the aftercare of Christians after they are delivered from demons. From many of the true case studies mentioned in the book, Dr Brown shows that God deals with each deliverance differently because HE IS GOD and loves His children as individuals. From the case studies, we see that Satan is a liar and is not Almighty like God. Nevertheless, we are not to underestimate him but we are to trust in God's loving care. Read this book and be blessed

1-0 out of 5 stars Loony
To think that anyone could be inspired by this load of s**t is just plain insulting. I'm a satanist and the book insulted me personally. The author spent time in a mental institute for the love of hell. But, if you find the ramblings of an insane lady inspirational be my guest. But frankly I would then have to mark you also as an insane f**k. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Whole Sub-Culture!
As someone who grew up listening to metal bands from the 70s (Blue Oyster Cult,Black Sabbath, etc.)I found it fascinating that these kids in Norway took the music so seriously.Although I loved the metal bands that I listened to I never even considered that they might be describing a lifestyle or worldview. The kids in Norway and Sweden, however, took it completely seriously-to the point that they created their own form of Metal to express their own point of view.I've been able to track down some of the music that was mentioned in this book and I honestly don't know how you could tell the difference between the music of,for example,Armored Saint from the late 80s and Emporer, a black metal band that figures prominently in this book. The kids in this book used metal to express their own struggles and ideology-this wasn't a case of metal causing church-fires; instead, the kids burning churches created music to express their feelings and ideas. One note to US readers-the church burnings described in this book are not related to the burning of black churches that was happening in the US in the mid 90s.This is a very interesting book. The authors bring you along as the kids in Norway burn churches and murder each other, and finally turn to fascism. This book is definitely worth 4 stars. I recommend it to anyone interested in youth subcultures.

5-0 out of 5 stars Satanic terrorists' history book
Striking book! The better points have already been overwhelmingly made here; well written, plenty of first person accounts and an unflinching search by the author to dig up information. As someone who is really interested in the Norweigen black metal scene myself (and I'm in a US black metal band as well), it was an eye opener. I couldn't get the images of these young, white teenagers out of my mind for days after I had finished the book. The pictures Moynihan has used to show how human and harmless these people look in everyday life really struck me. The authors made a very good point in showing that the average metalhead in Norway is quite a bit more intellectual than in the US. These are young people who, for the most part, have seriously thought out hard spiritual questions, which relate to their creative output. I'd say that one subject that very few people seem to have touched on, including Moynihan, is that the musical quality of black metal is quite high indeed. It is often dismissed as some artform for brainless, talentless extremists (at least here in the US), but in reality there is an enormous outpouring of talent from this part of the world. Extremely good work is being done, and the musicians are dead serious and firmly dedicated. Lords of Chaos does meander a bit in the end towards fascism and Nazism, and it came as no suprise that Moynihan's own band bears a striking resemblence to those two idealogies. While there are similar elements in black metal (might is right, strong over the weak), I have found Nazism to be not very popular at all among these bands, maybe 1%, if that. However, I do not live in Norway, so it's just my observation based on the lyrics and interviews from these bands. To present this scene, without commercializing or marginilizing it, is to be commended. Overall, the authors have captured a moment in history of a doubtlessly important cultural movement, a subculture of spreading hatred and terror. (It's no coincidence that Norway was the last of the European countries to submit to Christianity, up until 1000 AD! So their connection to strong-willed heretics is well founded.) 'thanks for a great book!'

1-0 out of 5 stars Moloch's Power Chord Puppets
The only good thing about this lower astral plane charade is that it will allow anyone with a smidgen of spirit, intelligence, and light to see the stupidity of the black metal musicians themselves and how they are unable to see that they are mere Power Chord Puppets for some corporate Moloch wearing a three piece Armani suit, sipping a Martini and listening to lounge music. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars More intriging than any work of fiction!
If the book wasn't listed as non-fiction, I never would have guessed that anything so tragic could happen to a young child!

The book centers around Torey, the author, a special ed teacher and her new class. One of the children, Jadie, is an elective mute something that Torey by coincidence specializes in. After Jadie is convinced to begin speaking to Torey, the child begins to act strangely and divulge even stranger things. Her world is deep and very, very dark , indicating abuse of some kind.

Torey also gives insight into the problems of the other classmates. Their plights are deeply touching.

We are lucky to have teachers like Torey in the world. People who are so drawn to helping children.

5-0 out of 5 stars A gripping, chilling account of a child in peril
This is my first time reading a book by Tori L. Hayden, and i'm impressed with her ability to captivate the reader and expose one to the realm of emotionally disturbed children. This heart-wrenching story about an elective mute, Jadie, who was abused and maybe even involved in satanic rituals is truly one that chills and haunts you even days after reading the book. It is difficult to believe that anything so horrendous and unspeakable could happen to a child as innocent and young as Jadie. However, Tori's dedication and compassion is impressive and her ability to bring children back to the real world really strikes a keynote in each and every one of our hearts. However, I was stuck in the lurch with the ending, and I hope that an absolution or at least a better conclusion that could sum up the book could be included.

5-0 out of 5 stars amazing page-turner!!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Best of Anton Lavey's Work
Greetings Everyone. Out of all of Anton Lavey's works (satanic bible, satan speaks, and the satanic witch), this book rght here, "The Devil's Notebook" (in my opinion anyway) is the best of Lavey's works. At the same time that some of the stuff in this is humorous (read chapters "Duck-Billed Platitudes", "Hatha Toilet Seat Meditaion", and "The Whoopi Cushion Shall Rise Again" for instance) most of stuff that Lavey says in this book is so true I'm surprised Lavey himself is not a perfect human being. Chapters like "on the Importance of Being Evil", "The Goodguy badge" and "Two Wrongs Make A Right" I agree with completely. You'll have to buy the book yourself and see why. Of course, I'm not actually a satanist, I'm really an atheist, so the only thing that I do not agree with in this book is all that magic and occult [stuff] that plague all of Lavey's work (I know that satanism doesn't equal to devil worship and Lavey's work doesn't mention anything about virgin sacrifices, animal mutilation or any other sick stuff that christians like to credit satanist with, for those of you that are satanist and are reading this review, so relax). Anyway, I have read other of Lavey's works. The satanic bible was okay, but it was filled with stuff that people should already know by instinct, satanist or not. The Satanic witch is just about the only piece of Lavey's work that I find repugnant and stupid. Again, in my opinion, those of you that are starting into satanism and/or never read one of Lavey's works, satanist or not, I suggest you start with this book first before you read any other material by him.

3-0 out of 5 stars An Entertaining Read
This book is a collection of essays, written by Mr. (pope?) Lavey. Judging by the introduction, written by Adam Parfrey, it is some sort of tribute to him - though I am not for sure. It is good for entertainment, though not a whoooole lot else... but then again, books are a form of media, and the whole purpose of media is to entertain, so...

Alright, this is deffinatly a great read! I totally, TOTALLY loved the Diabolica, Duck-Billed Platitudes, and How to Be a God! They are all very entertaining and humorous (though I'm not sure whether or not they're supposed to be). Also, the whole book is pretty motivational for that little screaming, raving satanist in all of us.

That's about all there is to say about it. I mean, honestly, at only 147 pages, it's not a huge chunk of reading. I read it over one weekend. Not great, but not bad - not by any means bad - hence three stars.

3-0 out of 5 stars Of limited interest . . .
Not only to Joe Citizen, but to most Satanists as well, to whom this must seem rather tiresome. This is my first exposure to LaVey's writings, and I'm not terribly impressed. I found his style (and philosophy) to be manipulative, juvenile, and pedantic. A predilection for obscure words and arcane references. I'll assume then, that being irritating and difficult to understand is a Satanic tenet. Don't get me wrong--I found many interesting parts to this book, especially when it came to his taste in classical music, in manufactured environments and artificial human companions. If you're into robotics you definitely want to hear what LaVey has to say. But if you're new to Satanic philosophy or the Left Hand Path, I'd look elsewhere. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Right on Target! Very factual.
Dr. Rebecca Brown is truly a leader in informing any people-not just Christians- about what is coming. Absolutely no one should be without this knowledge Dr. Brown has shared trying to alert us on the wiles of the devil. It is all there. The off the wall type illusions satanists can ingest in a passive persons mind is true. In reference to the werewolf story and ufo thing. Everyone needs to read Jesse Penn Lewis'"War on theSaints" and it will explain some of Dr. Brown's stories that seem so unrealistic. Satan through his demonic power uses counterfeit visions which seem unreal to most civilized people- but to the person the satanist exploited with the "seeing" of whatever it was- it is very real. Occult means Hidden Things.... I praise Dr. Browns work- it is based on things that actually happened to people she has helped. Believe me- a satanist uses every trick in the bag of satan's lies and deception to frighten weak christians. Thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book and a Blessing
Many people have tried to discredit Rebecca Brown because she digs to close to the truth. I have read her book and everything in the book is scriptually based and sound. She doesn't give herself one bit of credit and gives it all to G-d's glory. The book explains exactly how the Adversary is infiltrating the church, how to do spiritual warfare, and how do to it to yourself.

It is important to know that none of us are perfect and everyone has error in their lives. The websites that have stated she was a witch...well she is not. Anyone who questions the truthfulness of her words can just go to G-d in prayer and ask Him. G-d will tell you. That's what I did...and I find her legitment. Test the spirit.

Anyway this is an excellent book for Christians and for those who wish to get out of the occult. Get your hand on this book and you find yourself soul searching.

5-0 out of 5 stars The WAY Out & The WAY Forward !
This is the FOURTH book by Rebecca Brown that I have read. I am glad to say that this book is equally as good as the other three, "He Came To Set The Captives Free", "Prepare For War" & "Unbroken Curses".

This book includes an in-depth study of quite a number of personal 'case histories' of both Christians and Satanists ALL being delivered from satanic/demonic oppression and onslaughts of varying natures and degrees.

Rebecca Brown provides a wealth of information on deliverance and the approaches necessary in the various aspects of spiritual warfare.

The deceitfulness behind and throughout satanic/demonic attacks and their variety of origins are dealt with in some detail. In every case the way out is also clearly portrayed so that no-one is left without a solution to their own particular situation.

Satanism, in it's vast number of forms, is a vast problem, way beyond anything portrayed in the press, media or preached from many Christian pulpits. Ignorance in the Christian theatre of this major enemy, is one of the largest weaknesses in today's Church.

Rebecca Brown illustrates that in a Las Vegas police conference in February 1986, the police estimated that between 40,000 and 60,000 ritual homicides (human sacrifices) had been committed that year in the USA alone. The situation has worsened considerably since then. The scale of the problem is awesome, but the Deliverer and His Message still prevails and is here for all to see.

I have read many books by other authors on this subject but Rebecca Brown provides much information not provided elsewhere.

This is a highly, highly recommended, Biblically based, book packed to the brim with priceless information. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just not his best!
Don't misunderstand me- I really have an affinity toward LaVey and the glories he stands for- happiness, individualism, and nonconformity paired with strength, power, and ethics, but, please, alow me to explain, as objectively as possible, the reason why I felt this book only merited the paltry three stars I assigned to it. First of all, there just isn't much applicable material contained withing its covers. Its not a practical guide to Satanism; the books only redeeming essays are the first one, and perhaps "The Good Old Days," which does manage much insight on the follies of human misconception and misinterpretation. However, those searching for LaVey's best are advised to read the Satanic Bible, The Devil's Notebook, and also The Satanic Witch. Therein you will find all the positive, wonderful info you need. I would only recomend this book to those who are true Satanists and wish to know what their founder thought. Otherwise, I recomend the aforementioned. Thank you for reading this, I hope I've assisted you in some way- if your a Satanist. Hail Satan!

4-0 out of 5 stars The final (?) testament of a diabolical prophet
Anton Szandor LaVey, author/compiler of "The Satanic Bible" and founder of the notorious Church of Satan, certainly had a unique position in late 20th century culture. "Satan Speaks!", published after his death, represents the final testament of this demonic prophet. Whether or not you are a Satanist, you just might find this book to be an interesting, provocative, and even enjoyable read.

A collection of short essays, "Satan Speaks!" varies in quality. Some of the selections strike me as underdeveloped, self-indulgent rants: I refer particularly to "Child Abuse," "Some Professionals and a Poem," and others. But even some of these grouchy tirades have appealing flashes of dark humor; try "Don't Bathe," LaVey's celebration of body odor.

And the best of these essays range from delightful exercises in creative misanthropy to truly thought-provoking analyses of popular culture. LaVey speculates on the connections between the Jew and the Satanist in "A Plan," discusses the potential of "The Witch's Shoe as Weaponry" in the essay of that title, and issues a fascinating manifesto for Satanic cultural activism in "The Horns of a Dilemma."

And throughout the book one can find marvelously quotable aphorisms from the man known as the Black Pope. Examples: "Is it coincidence that the most important word to a Satanist is 'Why?'" (from "The Third Side"); "Did Charlie Chaplin have a Hitler moustache, or vice versa?" (from "The Jewish Question"); or "Don't bomb abortion clinics unless you happen to need one, and they won't take you" (from "My Enemy").

"Traditional" religionists and other more "proper" folk may cringe at LaVey's writings, but to the adventurous reader, "Satan Speaks!" is a deliciously stocked candy store. Was this truly LaVey's final testament, or are there hidden demonic manuscripts of his waiting to be unleashed upon a trembling world? Stay tuned!

1-0 out of 5 stars Ehhhh
This book does contain a few good perspectives and essays, but I wouldn't waste my time. When I say a few, I mean a few. The further and further I got into the book, the less impressed I was with LaVey, and the more I considered him a JOKE. Just tonight, I read a whole list of LaVey's lies - on the churchofsatan.org website nonetheless! But anyways, this book sucks. Check out some Nietzsche or Crowley instead. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good starting point
This is a sort of primer on ritual practice, and should not be looked to for advanced techniques. It is an interesting supplement to _The Satanic Bible_ and shows readers that the sketchy ritual outline in TSB is not the only one that can be used by "good" Satanists. If the readers take this idea to its logical conclusion and realize that they should start constructing their *own* rituals, the book will have done its job.

The text shows that a variety of source of inspiration can be used for ritual practice. LaVey takes inspiration from the French DeMolay of the Knights Templar, the Russian peasant legends, even the fiction of H.G.Wells and H.P.Lovecraft.

The book is roughly a cookbook, with some ideas for rituals and trappings that the author thinks are nice. You can slavishly follow the book, refusing to deviate one iota from the letter of the law, or you can become a true gourmet and allow the writings to inspire your own masterpieces.

4-0 out of 5 stars _The Satanic Rituals_
_The Satanic Rituals_, like its 1969 predecessor _Satanic Bible_ [cf. my Amazon.com review], is most accurately seen in the 1972 context of its creation: to supplement the _SB_'s Black Magical theory. Just as the _SB_ grew out of a series of handouts provided to members of the 1968-70 Church, so the _SR_ was originally a looseleaf collection of ritual texts restricted to its Priesthood during that same period.

The _SB_ contained three elementary *operative* Black Magical workings, but none of the *illustrative* type that Anton LaVey felt equally significant. Illustrative rituals possess no independent power; they are "mind mirrors", enabling the magician to see his will articulated and displayed before him, so that he may adjust and refine it.

In his introductory essay "Concerning the Rituals", Anton further differentiates rituals and ceremonies: A *ritual* affects the practitioner; i.e. it executes a "mind mirror" function. A *ceremony*, on the other hand, is merely a pageant or a play for psychodramatic illustration of a favored belief or philosophy.

The _SR_ is a book in three "layers". The first is that of *literal truth*, which the book purports to be. The second is that of *deception*, which much of the book actually is. The third layer is that of *underlying magical instruction*, which transcends mundane conventions of truth and falsehood.

A person who applies the principles in the book by actually performing the rituals and ceremonies will discover that they *work*. Should he discover the factual flaws in the essays and texts, he will be somewhat confused as to *why* they work. Only then will he begin to realize the truth underlying the art and science of magic: that the powers to create and to define are *functions of the will*. Thus he reaches the _SR_'s third and final layer.

The series of rituals begins with the traditional Black Mass, said to derive from 19th century France's Society of Lucifer. Actually it is a "censored" version of the _Missa Solemnis_ composed by Priest Wayne West (cf. my _Church of Satan_), which in turn drew heavily from J.K. Huysmans' _La-Bas_, the famous classic of French Satanism.

Anton states that the original Knights Templar developed the "Stifling Air" after their 13th century visit to the Yezidis. There is no evidence of such visit, nor does "SA" reflect actual Yezidi theology. He then suggests that the "Stifling Air", as a 6th Degree of the Knights Templar, is designed to follow a rite of the Ancient Arabic Order, Nobles of the Mystic Shrine wherein they travel beyond the "Devil's Pass". In the actual AAONMS ritual text, however, the candidate does *not* enter the pass. "SA" defaults to Anton's own creation, adapted from Raynouard's 1806 drama _Les Templiers_ and James Thomson's 1880 poem _The City of Dreadful Night_.

"Das Tierdrama", again a variation of the original Church of Satan version (_COS_), is adapted exclusively from H.G. Wells' _The Island of Dr. Moreau_.

"Die Elektrischen Vorspiele"'s theme of the "Hounds of Tindalos" derives from Frank Belknap Long's famous 1929 story. It has no Nazi-SS ancestry at all.

"The Homage to Tchort" is supposedly from Russian mythology. But the Khlysty sect was scarcely Satanic in doctrine; its adherents practiced fasting and self-scourging to drive out devils of the flesh, which unsurprisingly evolved into wild sexual orgies.

Confusion over "Melek Taus" arose from the secrecy of the Yezidis' two sacred books, and persists in _SR_, which interchanges their names. The _al-Jalwa_ is properly translated as _The Book of the Revelation_, while it is the *other* Yezidi book - _Mashaf-a Resh_ - that is entitled _The Black Scripture_ (cf. _COS_).

The most blasphemous second-layer deception in _SR_ consisted of my own introductory essay on H.P. Lovecraft, my "Ceremony of the Nine Angles", and my "Call to Cthulhu" (cf. _COS_). In 1971 Anton visited me at the U.S. Army Armor School at Fort Knox, insisting that the _SR_ would just not be complete without them.

The two Satanic Baptismal ceremonies - one for adult Satanists and the other for children who were not actually members of the Church - were both original to the Church of Satan. (I authored the Oath contained in the adult Baptism.)

"The Unknown Known" touches obliquely on Hans Hoerbiger's _Welteislehre_, or Doctrine of Eternal Ice, in which the history of the universe consists of alternating cycles of fire and ice. The "Wel" gained popularity in Nazi Germany because of Adolf Hitler's enthusiasm for Hoerbiger, whom he called "the German Copernicus". Anton, however, creatively interprets the theory in a social, not a cosmological context.

Anton concluded the original dedication page with my name, immediately preceding it with that of my Army boss at the time, Brigadier General George S. Patton III. And I'll leave that a "final mystery" of this exotic, fearsome, and dangerous little book! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Novel You'll Underline
This is a glorious read. The plot is marvelous and intricate. There is never a dull moment. Characters? Boy what characters! You will meet your friends, maybe your priest and people you recognize from your own parish/congregation.

While this is based on the Catholic Church it is an excellenct murder mystery. Perhaps we are seeing the debut of a new Chesterton.

I found myself underling the factoids and some of the better lines in this book. This is something I have never done with another novel. "The Endless Knot" is quite hilarious, informative and suspenseful all at the same time. I can't recommend this book too highly.

A superb first novel. You won't read it just once. I can't wait for "The Darkness Did Not" to hit amazon.com.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great New Characters!
I enjoyed The Endless Knot immensely. It has an utterly engrossing plot, terrific parallel lines of development, yet the best thing about it are the unforgetable characters. Couldn't put the book down!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Catholic Traditionalist Crime Story
Father Baptiste, the detective-hero, is a Catholic realist, hunting down evil through the labyrinthine ways of matter and spirit. This book was presciently written years before the current scandal in the Church, and is even more grimly funny today. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Devil's nihilistic rampage through pop-culture
Gavin Baddeley's _Lucifer Rising: Sin, Devil Worship and Rock n' Roll_ is a journalistic outtake on Satanic themes in modern pop-culture. This British author is hardly objective, a Satanist himself (his name has "bad" in it!) and as such, the book offers a glimpse into the inner workings of the minds of those who feel inspired by Satan. Or more accurately, by the notion of rebellion against the "restrictive" God of Bible and Church. The tone of _Lucifer Rising_ is the same as that of the narrator-announcer on VH1's _Behind the Music_ series: pretentious and self-authoritative. It is filled with interviews, illustrations of demons, sacrilegious artwork (a painting of St. Anthony the Great tempted with a vision of a beautiful naked woman on a cross, for example), and of course, with more then a few photographs of voluptuous naked women featured in occult ceremonies. Much of the imagery either blends the characteristics of male and female or promotes a radical sexual polarity, abstinence a definite taboo in Satanism. Baddeley begins by tracing the origins of Satanism from Old Testament times, where it grew as an offshoot of heretical sects including Gnostics, various backwoods pagan customs and as a direct inversion of Christian belief, moral authority and ritual. In the 1700s odd beliefs and Luciferian thinking may have even been an impetus for the Founding Fathers when they gathered together in their lodge meetings to draw up the laws of the United States. Alestier Crowley was certainly the most influential occultist in the early 20th century, spreading bizarre ideas in his numerous books on the occult and the coming new age. German contemporaries of Crowely, postulated strange theories that would later be integrated into the politics of the Nazi Party. Guido von List and Lanz von Liebenfels published writings that Hitler read avidly, in the journal _Ostara_ on the divine nature of the Germanic race. The 1960s aesthetic, atheistic, dilettante and speculative Satanism of Anton LaVey is especially examined in depth. LaVey's version of Satanism is a combine of blasphemous rituals mocking the sacred realm of Christianity, with a doctrine of hedonism and an atheistic metaphysical worldview. His "Church of Satan" does not literally believe in a devil, but rather in atheism, which is logical because a literal worship of an evil, demonic entity would therefore presuppose the existence of a good, creator God who allowed the devil to rebel in the first place. LaVey, misanthropic, elitist and misogynist in his views, also cursed the hippie movement for its optimism, espousal of brotherly love and utopian idealism. In the 1960s, Satan became the favorite icon of Rock n' Roll bands, many musicians employing satanic imagery, inverted crosses and gothic, morbid negative themes in their lyrics and concerts. Baddeley examines in considerable detail the satanic elements in popular music, from the Beatles, Rolling Stones to punk rock and heavy metal all the way up to the 1990s. Some Scandinavian heavy-metal heads, as chronicled by the self-proclaimed Pagan Michael Moynihan, have been involved in the heavy metal scene have been involved in violence, church burnings, and of course in promoting a virulent form of anti-Christianity. Baddeley interviews Moynihan about the "Faustian spirit of Fascism," derived from Spengler's theory of the cyclic rise and fall of cultures (accompanied by a photograph of the androgynous Marilyn Manson in a Nazi pose). A common theme among fringe Satanic cults is that they embrace the idea that the West is in a state of total decline and that the world is soon to embark in a downward spiral of chaos and bloodshed and the revival of paganism. These self-proclaimed Satanists are quick to explain that they are not affiliated with "Wicca" or white magic because of because of Wicca's philanthropist and egalitarian outlook. Satan has even become a popular character in comic books, movies and even video games in addition to youth-culture music. Several notorious serial killings, such as those of Charles Manson and Son of Sam had dark, occulted inspirations. Satan is an appealing character because he represents a youthful rebellion against an established order that certain occultists with an agenda want to attack--stable society and especially the Christian religion. _Lucifer Rising_ is an interesting look at some of the wicked elements in the undertow of Western society in the past fifty years. Satanists like Baddeley claim en masse that without the devil there would have been no Christianity. However, such a stance begs the question: where would Satan and his angels be if there is no God for them to rebel against?

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource of diabolical information
This book covers the wide spectrum of multi-faceted Satanic beliefs and practices, ranging from the The Church of Satan and Anton LaVey (with interviews) to modern black metal music. It contains interviews with many people involved in Satanism, including:

Boyd Rice, the founder of the Abraxas Foundation and the star of the band Non

An interview with Glenn Danzig and his metal outfit

Blanche Barton, the current High Priestess of the Church Of Satan since Anton LaVey's death on October 1997

Details of Aleister Crowley's sordid life

The myth of Satanic ritual abuse and reasons why the media wanted you to believe every word of it

Marilyn Manson, one of today's premier musicians.

"Lucifer Rising" is immaculately reseached, well written and enjoyable. Most other books on this subject pale drastically in comparison. With that said, I'm awaiting another book by this writer- judging from his past material and this offering, he has an eye for quality and adroitness- more than worth the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars Fathers of Black Metal
Written by Church of Satan Priest Gavin Baddeley, a book of this kind is easily in the ranks with 'Satan Wants You' by Arthur Lyons, as the credits & influences The Church of Satan has had on society & modern culture is fully recognized, thereby giving the Devil His due.

There are compelling interviews with Dr. LaVey {whose words are spread throughout the book as relative to the subject of the chapter at hand}, HP Blanche Barton, Mgr. Gilmore, a two-parter with Mgr. Boyd Rice; Thomas Thorn of EHC; iconoclastic film-maker & long-time friend of Doctor's, Kenneth Anger; Mgr. Vincent Crowley of Acheron; Abaddon of Venom; Quarthon of Bathory; Coop; Mgr. Rex Diabolos Church {whose necro-erotic art adorns the front cover}; Timothy Patrick Butler; Michael Moynihan of Blood Axis; Count Grishnacht & Euronymous of the 'Black Metal Circle' {a couple of presumptuous & antagonistic delusionals who declared 'war' on The Infernal Empire. As a consequence of their absurd proclamations, which can be compared to the flea crawling up the leg of an elephant with the intention of rape, one killed the other, both of whom declared eachother 'allies'reveal themselves herein to be nothing more than reverse-xians, still praddling about under the xian mythology, many times veering towards Tolkien's fantasy world --- they very easily could be considered "Tolkienists", rather than Satanists {by their own admission, they would rather call themselves 'devil-worshippers' & 'slaves of Satan', dedicated to bringing about the most misery they can upon the world --- just like xoids, whom they claim to respect, as they are, verily, brothers in arms, or 'black sheep'. In the same herd; then there's Glenn Danzig, Glen Benton of Deicide, King Diamond {who is accredited with the use of 'corpse-paint' for use by contemporary Death-Metallers}, Sister Namaah of The Kirk Von Satan {a veritable 'Satanic Nun'}, amongst others.
The book is divided into three parts:

1. The History of Satanism, which covers the basic inceptions, superstitiions, & practices of the aristocracies in indulgence, & the revolution of The Black Mass.

2. Satanism in The 20th Century, which includes historical recollections & occultic ties of The Third Reich, Gerald Gardner {the comical origin of 'wicca', which is about as 'ancient' as the turn of the century, & serial killers Richard Ramirez & David Burkowitz, among others.

3. The Satanic Millenium, explains the Infernal rise of the internet, diabolical board games, Columbine, Marilyn Manson, the afore-mentioned 'Black Metal Circle', & the future influences of Satanism upon the world.

Lucifer Rising takes on where Satan Wants You leaves off, & is a must for Satanists to possess --- indeed, it is absolutely a part of Church of Satan history. This book is unprecedented, as it is a record written by a Satanist, someone who knows what we're all about, & thus takes an objective view on the subject, instead of the usual biased & bigoted misrepresentations of xoid Satanophobes. A real work of art.

Editorial Review

It's always a pleasure to find a book of history so well written that I lose track of time while I'm reading it. Masello has collected the exploits of prominent sorcerers and alchemists, secret societies, rituals and key tools of black magic, without sinking into a subjective analysis of the morality of these occult arts. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and concise historical description of sects.
The best book of it's kind that I have seen. A succinct overview of numerous historical sects, traditions, and so fourth from Crowley, the Golden Dawn Tradition, the Gnostics, Simon Magus, and others. This is an excellent book to attain the historical and real points that each of these orders possessed. This book elicits many hidden facts about these people and sects and is excellent for anyone to attain a fundamental study of the various types of occult knowledge there is today in the world. Also demonstrated in this work of art is how most of modern technology came from these profound occultists. From astrologists paving the way to astronomers, to the alchemists developing the steel industry in their futile attempts to change base metals into gold and silver. For other historical books of this kind, check Angel Magic, which is not as clear, but still good. -For further disucssion of this book e-mail me-

3-0 out of 5 stars Not a bad start
This book is a great resource for anyone who is just starting his or her study of the history of black magick. It gives an overview of some of the darker practices and the bigger personalities involved. I give it three stars because only half the book is really about black magick. The rest is about occult practices that I don't believe fall under the heading, such as alchemy, divination and dream interpretation. It would have been nice if Masello had used that space to go into more detail about what the magicians actually did, but it is still an interesting historical study of the occult.

5-0 out of 5 stars keeping the details to a bare minimum
Raising Hell: A Concise History of the Black Arts and Those Who Dared Practice Them by Robert Masello is an concise but comprehensive overview of the history of occult arts throughout the centuries, filled with interesting stories and creative characters in search of power beyond their control. The book is divided into several distinct sections, each dealing with a specific aspect of the occult arts, giving the reader a wonderful glimpse into the powers which lie in the great beyond. Although it makes mention of numerous sources and reference material, by keeping the details to a bare minimum he only serves to wet one's whistle on the nature of his survey, making readers want to delve deeper into regions unknown. A great start for people interested in the occult but don't know where to start. ... Read more

Tony presents the material on alternative religions in a comprehensive and easy to understand format. His pure objectivity on the subject is refreshing. The investigative guidelines are essential in assisting law enforcement personal in making informed decisions that can prove vital to the safety of all concerned. Besides recommending this book to police officers, I recommend it to all interested in alternative religions and the study of them. Thank you Tony, for building an educational bridge between law enforcement and those of us in alternative religions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Resource Material
As the popularity and growth of alternative religions reaches an all time high, the chances of occult groups running into law enforcement increases greatly. This book is the single most important work designed to accurately inform those who are sworn to protect our rights, without the bias and fluffiness you would find in the plethora of other occult books written by practitioners of those faiths. The author presents to the reader very real-life examples of what officers may run into when investigating occult activity, while at the same time reminds the police to be respectful of our beliefs, whether they agree with them or not. Investigators will be able to relate to the concerns addressed in the book, and practitioners of these faiths will find a library of useful information contained in a concise and easy-to-read style. This book has long been overdue and will certainly help bridge the gap between the practitioners and those who must interact with them.

I only wish I could afford to send a copy to every law enforcement agency in this country. This book should be readily available to every police officer and should reside in the library of every teacher of alternative religions.

A big thank you for a very well written and much needed resource.

5-0 out of 5 stars A present for your local sheriff!
This is a really good book and one which should be on more shelves in sheriff's offices and police libraries. And if you are curious about the African American / Christian religious paths, Tony is extremely well-informed about them!

A good book to have and a good book to give to local law enforcement!

5-0 out of 5 stars The book that changed my life for the better
With the current wicca craze spouting off "An' it harm none..." this book was bound to be shunned. It explores the darker side, as one might've guessed, but the book also fires at the primitive woodland notions of the god Pan, Christianity, and blessedly wicca. The authors personal tales are also a plus due to the fact it shows that they do practice what they preach. And what can be expected. This is not usual for any occult how-to book. It is funny, and informative. It made me realize more about the spirit world around me than a hundred occult books that I have read over the years.

How did this book change my life? With the simple message that people out there want to control my life through their expectations. I would definatly recommend this to those occult students who are sick of living life through "karma" and other thought tools to keep one in line.

5-0 out of 5 stars An intelligent look at Satanism and humanity.
Ave,

I am a Luciferian. I tend to be a very harsh critic when it comes to works that deal with Satanism and "Devil worship" (for lack of a better term). I can say unafraid that this book is tops on the list of books concerning the Left-hand path that have been made within the last 30 years. The simplified versions of each of the grimores is quite enlightening as to the framework of "christianized" evocation. I personally do not use such rituals to evoke entities. I see is as hypocritical to invoke the names of the Christian god to summon a compleatly different entity. I would normally hold this against the authors, however, they make their understanding of Satanism quite apparent throughout the rest of the work. The testimonies of Jason Black's own experiences are quite helpful to the practicioner of any system. I recommend this book to any serious magickian.

Anyone that buys this book is Wasting their time and money. The old days are over when Demons were commanded by people using xian god names to make pacts.Today if anyone tries to make a pact will get a rude awakening. Pacts are disrespectful to the Demons, plus you are commanding them in the xian god's name. I warn anyone who buys this book..Don't Buy It, and try to command any Demon mentioned in this book. You will So Regret it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Anton LaVey Prefers Sex Ploys To Magick!
In his book, Mr. LaVey dismisses a Wiccan or another White (beneficent) Magick user as one who "...either is kidding herself or has much to learn." He redefines a witch as a female temptress who has made a pact with the Devil and who uses her magical sexual image and prowness to "...cloud men's minds and make simpering idiots out of them." Mr. LaVey's witches play with men because "...if a woman wants anything in life, she can obtain it easier through a man than through another woman...".

The book presents Mr. LaVey's lessons for witches. He discusses his concept of men and women's physical, mental, and emotional characteristics. He discusses how his witches project a selected sexual image using cosmetics, body language, fashion, sexual ploys, psychology, fortune telling, and ceremonial magic. He discusses how his witches control the news media.

Mr. LaVey's book is both humorous and sad. Mr. LaVey's instructions for manipulating men are absurdly stereotypical. But once Ones realize that Mr. LaVey's lessons are totally serious and that Mr. LaVey apparently *has* trained many women, Mr. LaVey's opinion and use of women saddens Ones. Mr. LaVey's witches resemble veneered furniture: their finish only is skin deep.

This book, which provides a window into Mr. LaVey's personality and life, is a mixed blessing. Keep your ice open.

4-0 out of 5 stars Empowerment and Hussydom
LaVey's 'The Satanic Witch' was published at a time in the twentieth century when femininity seemed about to be frogmarched off the map and relegated, as something archaic and downright repressed, to the annals of history. Before such a shift occurred, LaVey penned this witty, charming and informative defence in praise of beauty, glamour and 'loose women' the world over. Power, he declares, comes from a recognition and enjoyment of traditional gender roles. Not a message particlarly palatable to bra-burners or to LaVey's contemporary 'good' witches. However, and despite initial misgivings expressed by some of my my fellow reviewers here and elsewhere, this book is remarkably and ref
