Fortunately they can be mastered by anyone, using examples familiar to all. The scientific method is analogous to car repair and to cooking from a recipe. Models from outside science, such as a sweater knitting pattern, are no different than scientific models such as rats, mathematical equations, or the models the government uses to test condoms. The peanut butter and jelly sandwich illustrates correlations, and drunk driving explicates the relation between correlation and causation.
