4-0 out of 5 stars Good series
I purchased Vol I (not on amazon right now) of this two volume series. This series is done very well. When a 12 string, 6 string and mandolin are all playing simultaneously, this series will give you all the notes (mandolin transcribed for guitar) along with the vocals. The accuracy will leave you wondering if Page really intended each of the tabulated notes, or is the guitar scribe showing off his tabulation talent.Very well done for the songs included in the series, but where are the other acoustic classics like Traveling Riverside Blues, Bron Y Aur, Hey Hey What Can I Do...?Surely the discriminating artists who prepared this series are not just going to quit their talent before tabulating all of Zeppelin's acoustic songs. And the electric tunes should be included in a sister series.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good reference
Fairly easy and simple to follow.Provides enough guidance for the average person to perform minor repairs at home.If you have the right tools and work area, the book will aid you in completing more involved repairs. It will not make you a luthier, but it can save you money.. if ued correctly.. on some of the simplier repair task.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great stuff
This book (and its companion volume II) is outstanding. The author has a no-nonsense style of writing that is entertaining, concise, and extremely useful. He explains what works, what doesn't, and why.Very good information on making your own tools and on how to do a better job with less work. His motivation is to share information, not to sell product.I have other books on the subject which are good and very useful, these two volumes are far and away the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
I can provide only a brief review as my time is limited. In a nutshell this is a book that any Luthier would benefit from. It is obvious that Mr. Teeter is a very precise craftsman whom does not take shortcuts. The information presented is the correct way to do whatever needs to be done. I would have to consider this the best of the books on lutherie that I own.

4-0 out of 5 stars learn to repair a guitar , for understand how to build a new one.
In my opinion this book and the volume naturally 2 represent a guide to face the reparation of the guitar and at the same time to have the necessary notions to be of assistance to whom will purchase' our new tools.
All it takes is building a tool it says Cumpiano, but it also needs to be able to repair it.
Then a good guide to integrate the know how of whom wants to build a guitar.
Excellent the section of the jigs and tools that allows to save many money.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for anyone who cares about their acoustic guitar

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
I have owned this book for a little over a year now, and still go back to it all the time.Very well written, very informative.Still working on learning some of his transcriptions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Definitely worth getting
Starting in the mid-'90s, I regularly bought the English magazine 'Guitar Techniques' whenever I could lay my hands on it here in Germany, simply for Eric's great acoustic section and beautiful playing on the CD that accompanied the magazine. The few short remarks that introduced each piece conveyed a great warmth and quiet humour; Eric was, even at a distance, a great teacher.
I was delighted to find this book - as another reviewer says, Eric's originality and the completeness of his mastery of fundamentals are reflected in its structure and writing.
I had bought several other guitar books before this one, but for acoustic guitar, along with Jamey Aborsold's, this is the one I reread most often.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST ACOUSTIC GUITAR TUTOR EVER WRITTEN
Eric (R.I.P.) was a great musician and a great teacher (please see his web-site) and unlike most other tutors, this has been very carefully thought out and worked up from scratch. Any guitarist would benefit from owning this I think, regardless of the stage they are at. It is outstanding and comprehensive and comes with two CDs. ... Read more

Product Description
Musical acoustics presents a unique opportunity to see science and art working together. This book is a balanced presentation of all aspects of musical acoustics. It explains how our ears and brains interpret musical events, and connects traditional physical analyses to musical reality. The purpose of the book is two fold: (1) To help students use simple physical concepts as tools for understanding how music works, and (2) To use students' interest in music to motivate the study and appreciation of scientific methods. Any given chapter will challenge students with several points that are not obvious on the first reading. Starred sections are optional and are not a prerequisite to later sections. ... Read more

Ordered the textbook for class and it arrived swiftly, but didn't need it.So I contacted the seller, returned it and received the refund just as fast.Good service!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must!
An amazing piece for those interested in acoustics and its musical applications. Very well explained and very well organized.

5-0 out of 5 stars i love this book

It is a nice introductory book both for music and physics.. physics students who are learning wave theory should consider reading at least some chapters of this book..

5-0 out of 5 stars Great starting point for studying the intersection of science and sound
This book is an excellent starting place for someone who wants a somewhat quantitative treatment of the science of sound as it relates to music, but does not have the advanced math background necessary to digest something like "The Physics of Musical Instruments". The chapters and sections in this third edition are the same as in the previous edition, however some changes have been made to the content. The book is updated with more current references to the end-of-chapter bibliographies, and there is some new material, especially in areas affected by the personal computer's role in the digital processing of sound.

The author provides an integrated understanding of three major areas: the production of sound by various sources, the propagation of sound from source to listener, and the perception of sound by the human brain.
For easier reading, each chapter starts with an introductory section that sets up the chapter. There are also summaries and lists of symbols, terms, and relations highlighting the most important terms and quantitative expressions in each chapter. There are realistic and interesting exercise sets containing both qualitative and quantitative questions for each chapter, with most chapters containing 20-25 exercises. There are also projects included that provide out-of-class assignments that generally require students to do research. There are approximately three of these in each chapter. Finally, several new photographs have been added to this third edition, particularly of the inner ear structure and of the vocal cords in motion.

Like the previous reviewer, I make a habit of purchasing and reading several textbooks a year, and sometimes I am very disappointed and sometimes I am not. This is one of those purchases that I found most worthwhile. If you are interested in the intersection of math, acoustics, perception, and musical instruments I highly recommend it. A math background up to the level of algebra and geometry should be sufficient to understand the quantitative portions of the book. The table of contents is as follows:

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating
This book is a thorough overview of physics behind music. In the first part of the book, Hall lays the foundation with an investigation into waves, sound propagation, sound measurement, and the human ear.The middle third of the book takes up families of instruments, and how they work to create musical sounds. The last part of the book investigates room acoustics, sound reproduction, and the perception of intervals, tunings, and musical structure. Each chapter includes references and suggestions for further reading, numerous mathematical exercises for practicing the concepts covered in the chapter, and a list of potential projects for further investigation. The book includes a glossary and answers to selected problems, as well as an index.

I read quite a few textbooks for work and occasionally just for interest's sake, but this one really stands out. After reading the first few chapters, I found myself wishing I could sit in on Hall's lectures. His style is intensely personal, and his explanations are incredibly clear.I'll admit that sometimes my eyes glossed over while slogging through some of the numbers and charts, but it was mainly my fault for not being a more active reader. In order to get the most from this book, you really need to read it with calculator in hand, or better yet, an Excel spreadsheet open, ready to try out the numbers and scenarios that Hall provides us with.Nevertheless, the math is kept quite simple- -no calculus; if you can do algebra, you should be able to get through the book.

I've found the information in the book to be quite useful.Hall's description of how resonance works in drums has helped me make sense of my tabla teacher's pickiness about where my fingers strike the tabla heads. And at last I understand the physics behind why some rooms in my house are acoustically dead, and others are alive.Hall has opened up a new world of ideas for me, and I will be thinking them through for years to come.I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to know how music really works. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Intro to Sound
If you have had university-level physics then this will not offer too much except to reinforce ideas. However, it is well-written and a nice introduction to the topic for those who are interested in science but are not scientists by trade.

3-0 out of 5 stars GOOD BOOK
I RECEIVED THE BOOK VERY SPEEDILY AND IN VERY GOOD CONDITION. HOWEVER, AFTER USING THE BOOK A FEW TIMES FOR STUDYING, I NOTICED SOME OF THE PAGES WERE GETTING LOOSED AND WERE BEGINNING TO FALL OUT. OTHER THAN THAT, I AM PLEASED BECAUSE THE BOOK IS VERY EASY TO FOLLOW.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book..very cut and dry
I was required to buy and basically memorize this entire book for class and it was very good; i learned more than the basics, that's for sure. However, my classmates thought it was a little cut and dry and that some parts were a tad confusing.

4-0 out of 5 stars good reference text
A bit of a challenge to read at times, but great for use as a reference.Covers more than the basics of sound transmission and all the associated physical science.Concepts are clearly and thoroughly explained. If you like the hard facts all the math you could ever hope to have is here - and if you don't like the math it's easy to ignore without losing the message.I'm glad to have the book and equally glad it wasn't my required text for Hearing Science. ... Product Description
Architectural Acoustics presents a comprehensive technical overview of the field at a level suitable for working practitioners as well as advanced undergraduate or introductory graduate architecture or engineering course. The book is structured as a logical progression through acoustic interactions. Beginning with an architectural history, it reviews the fundamentals of acoustics, human perception and reaction to sound, acoustic noise measurements and noise metrics, and environmental noise. It then moves into wave acoustics, sound and solid surfaces, sound in enclosed spaces, sound transmission loss, sound transmission in buildings, vibration and vibration isolation, noise transmission in floor systems, noise in mechanical systems, and sound attenuation in ducts.

Chapters on specific design problems follow including treatment of multifamily dwellings, office buildings, rooms for speech, sound reinforcement systems, rooms for music, multipurpose rooms, auditoriums, sanctuaries, and studios and listening rooms. While providing a thorough overview of acoustics, it also includes the theory of loudspeaker systems and sound system modeling as well as an in-depth presentation of computer modeling, ray tracing and auralization. It will be particularly beneficial for architects and engineers working in fields where speech intelligibility, music appreciation, and noise isolation are critical.

5-0 out of 5 stars Architectural Acoustics (Applications of Modern Acoustics)
THE book on acoustics for non-acousticians. Comprehensive, concise, and completely accessible for anyone with an interest in acoustics. THE "go to" text for audio engineers, sound designers, and musicians who want to better understand the physical world that directly effects their art.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent book on Acoustics
Having read some architectural acoustics books, I can recommend this one as one of the best.It is an excellent resource. In fact, I should not have spent some of my money on some oldie books, which were cheap but not as good.

This is an up to date book, and it is worth every penny you spend. If you are a student or someone interested in the topic architectural acoustics, it is a good resource but it has many formulas (sorry if you do not like physics).

With it I have been able to specify to an architect who does not know hardly anything about acoustics how to correct his design for a contemporary church. I also recommend "Handbook for Sound Engineers" as a compliment to this book, for people that are trying to get the best of both worlds -- acoustics and audio. These are both good buys, and can help you very much.Remember that to be a good consultant you need to have a good library of books and this one would be an excellent part of your reference library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice
The ultimate guide to architectural acoustics covering many topics in a single and nice priced book, It has everything covered and explained to a good level, my only complain is that only basic measurement techniques are explained. However it is a great complilation of knowledge in a single package.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you only buy one book on architectural acoustics......
In his preamble the author refers to the fact this book took him more than 10 years to write.Given the level of detail and the comprehensive nature of this book, this is not surprising.

There may be better acoustical books available relating to specific niches of acoustics, such as Beranek and Barron's works on concert halls and there are certainly more simple introductions to the subject, such as Egan's book of the same name, but for anybody who doesn't mind grappling with some mathematical equations, this is definitely the best and most comprehensive book on this subject of the 15 or so that I possess.

Like the author, I am also a practicing acoustical consultant and a lecturer in this subject. It's probably splitting hairs, but I suspect that my architecture students might not respond well to this book due to the fact that the illustrations are generally limited to fairly simple black and white drawings and the mathematical approach may intimidate some, but for other acoustical consultants and engineers interested in the field of building acoustics, I would definitely recommend this text.

5-0 out of 5 stars Looks like a new classic on Architectural Acoustics
I just received my copy, and have yet to dive into. However it appears up to date (2006) in that it covers modelling and auralization concepts. The scope of the book is expanded compared to Eagan's excellent text. Take a look at the table of contents on line for an idea of the topics.

It appears to be well written. The mathematics of sound are covered. This should be a standard reference text for a general knowledge of architectural acoustics.

July 2007 - I use this book as one of my primary references. It has excellent breadth and detail. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Acoustic Guitar Guide
I received the book within 10 days of making the order. The book was a great hit with the person whom I purchased for.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for
I am a beginner guitarist who's advancing pretty fast and definitely outgrown his guitar, so I decided to look for something, but was clueless what I have to look at. This book breaks down everything in ways I couldn't imagine. Every part and it's qualities and how they matter individualy and overall. This is exactly what I was looking for. I also love the way Larry Sandberg romantisizes the guitar, which makes me love it even more, and yet he always keeps it technical and relative. THANKS!

5-0 out of 5 stars Get it or you'll regret it
Wow, I don't think I can beat the spotlight review but allow me to add the scores to this book because it deserves a 5-star. I have to first say, this ain't a book that teaches you HOW to play the guitar but definitely the best book yet on describing what the guitar is.

Believe me, I have been playing guitar for over a year now and have no clue what's the different between Brazilian Rosewood or cedar top, spruce top, etc. Larry Sandberg explains all that, including on the differences between string gauges and what the varieties of guitar physiology. So just because you're a good guitar player doesn't mean you know about guitars. You have to read this book, one way or another if you are planning to play the guitar. If not, you'll regret it, because this book gives you a general idea of what you need to know about the guitar from top to bottom.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Acoustic Guitar Guide: Everything You Need to Know to Buy and Maintain a New or Used Guitar

Good foundation for someone interested in the variations and basics of guitar construction including materials, body shape etc. As I was bewildered by the vast amount of choice in the acoustic guitar market, I found it useful for determining the right guitar to purchase for myself. Must be a popular book because i have had it on order for almost 5 months and still don't have it!

Canceled original order and went with 2nd edition when it came out, 5 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book! Highly reccomended
This book is a great resource for anyone wanting to learn about guitar repair and maintenance. Personally, I'm just a guitar player that's tired of running to a guitar tech every time I need a seasonal truss rod adjustment. This book lays out very clearly the types of maintenance that are necessary for acoustic, electric, and bass guitars. My only critique is that the book focuses more on Gibson, Martin, and Fender guitars. For the 80% of the guitar community that uses these guitars, this is great! For me, I play a Taylor and a G&L (which is really close). It would be great to have a little more "universal" information. BUT, this is a very small issue. If you use common sense, the principles in this book can be applied to virtually all guitars.

The most important thing is that I used the techniques in this book and setup my Taylor 414ce, and now it plays AMAZING!!! Plus, I now know the proper ways to maintain and care for my gutiar so it will last for years!!!

This book is a must have for EVERY guitar player that has a guitar that they want to keep sounding great, playing great, and well maintained.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you own a guitar you need this book!
I currently own seven guitars. I tried repairing/restoringan old, cheap guitar a few years back and ending up with a pile of worthless junk.

Since purchasing this book all my remaining guitars sound better than ever. My first undertaking after reading this book was the restoration of my first guitar bought new 1965. Its plays like it was new and looks better than it has in years (many years). I have since used this book as my guide to a Gibson Les Paul restoration, a Yamaha BB1200S restoration, clean-up & set-up up on a couple vintage guitars, and was confident enough to do the setup an a new Gretsch I purchase a couple months ago.

I have done setup and cosmetic work on two friends' guitars as well.

Product Description

This book, A Field Manual of Acoustic Phonetics, provides a practical and easy-to-understand introduction to acoustic speech analysis, primarily aimed at those involved in linguistic analysis and description in the field and at those preparing for such fieldwork. It explains commonly used methods for displaying aspects of a speech wave, such as waveform graphs, spectra, spectrograms, fundamental frequency graphs (pitch graphs), and intensity graphs. It illustrates how the results of acoustic analysis can be interpreted and used to improve the objectivity, accuracy and precision of phonetic descriptions of speech sounds. The book assumes basic knowledge of articulatory phonetics. It can be used to teach introductory courses in acoustic phonetics at the undergraduate level.

Hey, isn t this interesting; it presents a different slant on the same material I have covered. I don t think it hurts to have two different ways of looking at things. Some people will find one more helpful than the other.

3-0 out of 5 stars Thought I Was Getting a Little More Than What I Got
The book is a good book to start with but it came with a cd that isn't that helpful.I thought it would be a dvd, but it wasn't.It just seems like a dvd of the lessons would have been more practical and not a cd for a beginner.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ultimate Beginner
I am enjoying learning to play my guitar and your beginner book by Keith Wyatt is very helpful. I would buy from this site again.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not super-helpful
This book is minimalist in the extreme - a real beginner is going to need fingering exercises and weeks of practice before mastering even the most basic chords. And this book doesn't give you sufficient guidance in those crucial initial stages. Is it a good buy? Yes. But it's not enough to replace a teacher or a more thorough book/video set.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sojourner
This book is by far the best beginner method book that I've come across. It gives you the basics ( types of guitars, tuning, changing strings, etc. ) then it goes right into learning chords.

I would recommend it for the beginner

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for "NEW to Guitar" players
If you want to "test" the waters with that child who "just has to play guitar" than this is the book. You will not find many book/CD combos for this price. There is enough information to get the new player off the ground and realizing that they can learn from materials and do not necassarily need a $15.00 a half hour instructor. For the price, the instruction on tuning alone is worth it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent instruction and humorous too
I am long time beginner guitar player. I can strum chords well enough to sing familiar songs, but never had any formal lessons. I found this book to be exactly what I needed to move beyond this stage. The writing style is conversational, with a good dose of humor. I particularly enjoyed the anecdotes about former students. The included CD is well produced, and does a good job of illustrating the concepts and techniques on the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Overview of all the things the others miss
I'm learning to play and this book is the first thing in awhile to really help me out. He takes all the topics that others seem to avoid, likely because they are technical and difficult to explain, and explains them in a useful and entertaining manner. The book also goes into areas like ear training that are very valuable and often missed in books.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent
This was an excellent overview of so many different areas. The book is laid out in a logical order, however, the reader could certainly pick and choose various chapters.Lots of good insights from many different sources.

4-0 out of 5 stars Most intelligent design i've ever seen
David Mead has taken all the fat and left the meat in this guide for guitarists of all skill levels. These are the questions you should be asking but didn't know how or what to ask for.

Has missed out on a couple subjects of which I thought was important(like left hand technique). Over all however, this is the most intelligent book to motivate and inspire a guitarist who wants to enjoy the journey to mastering an instrument.I work in a music shop so I am subjected to a whole lot of useless literature on the subject of learning guitar.

i hope it works out for you as well as it did for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Leo Beranek has written the definitive work on Acoustics
whether your interest is as a musician, an audiophile or as a studio engineer this book is a must read!

I'm not much good at math, but I learned a lot from this and enjoy the dry humor ( ex: "The Beranek Effect" )

Highly comprehensive and there have been changes made to my stereo system as a result of reading this; I often refer back to it

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Technical Reference
A very good read for anyone interested in audio science. This clarifies the science of surround a sound.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sound Reproduction 101
Too much to say in a quick review, but if you are designing a Home Theater or 2 channel playback system, this book is indispensable yet incomplete. You'll still need measuring equipment and software to get it right.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thoughtful evaluation of measurements' significance as perceived
Epic, well-researched, and thoughtfully organized.Having read dozens of texts on related subjects, and spent years designing and measuring sound systems, I can say that this is among the best resources available. While not lacking in theoretical rigor, Toole critically evaluates the correlation between predicted and measured responses in more widely accessible terms. Most importantly he chisels away at the mythology surrounding acoustics, acoustical measurement, and industry standards by firmly establishing the relevance of theory and measurements to perception. The result is an extremely practical tool for small listening room consultants and enthusiasts. Not falling too much into either of these categories, I still found tremendous relevance to the large-scale live sound industry, which stands to benefit from similar investigations.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, Someone Speaks Truth about Discredited THX System
For years the film industry has been using methods and "science" (I use the term loosely) that has set the film industry apart from every other audio technology.Odd for such a large business like film to take a "separate path" from esteemed organisations like the Audio Engineering Society (AES).For many years theatre owners were "bullied" into adopting THX (a pseudo-scientific marketing approach to sound created by non-engineer Tomlinson Holman), although no benefits were apparent from these systems.

Then these flaws were exported to the home theatre market with the branding of "THX Approved" speakers and receivers. All in the ill-fated attempt to "recreate the mixing room".It's all a complete fraud, and hasn't resulted in better sound anywhere. And people like Tomlinson Holman got Oscars for this junk. Can you believe it?Someone should go by and pick 'em up, they weren't earned, that's for sure.

For some reason the film community has been loathe to criticise this flawed technology, although most theatres don't display the THX logo anymore and universally ignore the concept.

The rest of the professional audio business has advanced dramatically - specifically live concerts, where the distorted, noisy, and unintelligible horn speakers have been replaced with line arrays, a much more appropriate technology for movie theatres, as well.

Floyd Toole to his credit completely disparages all this THX/Dolby/Constant Directivity horn nonsense for film, and while he doesn't propose any solutions he encourages the appropriate engineering talent at SMPTE to work to replace these flawed standards with actual working technology.

Thanks, Floyd, for finally saying the Emperor has no clothes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive and very well written
Toole explains just about everything you need to know to create or fine-tune your listening room or home theater in a way that's easy for even the layman to understand. It's the most comprehensive, authoritative, and well-written book I've seen on the subject. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Taste of Acoustic Blues Styles
This book/CD is for intermediate or better finger-style players that want an introduction to the various styles of play.Presents songs in the three major blues keys, various rhythms, and even an intro to slide.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very cool blues with great instruction!
Kenny Sultan makes learning to play blues guitar fun and enjoyable. The book comes with a CD so you can hear how each piece sounds.Kenny plays each song twice.First time it's slow so you can begin learning by playing along. Then again, at regular speed, which is good to work up to.
Kenny gives short explainations with each piece that I find helpful. The book shows music in standard notation and TAB.It starts with easier pieces in the beginning. You'll meet some good old time blues players and get a chance to try slide guitar at the end. This is a GREAT book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Just me
I would love to find a book, cd/dvd set that would teach the blues from the beginning. This book does not do that. This book will be alot beter for me after I spend a few years playing and then move on to the blues. This book also has tab so if you don't know how to read music you can still play. It is just not for beginner guitarist.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun book, but won't teach a lot
Very fun book if you just want to impress your friends with a couple of nice songs (above all the not-Kenny songs are worthwile). Good for a starter to learn some blues basics (though picking technique is not explained at all!!!). But, if you are an intermediate that looks for a jump forward, beware: this book won't teach you a lot, no scale, no harmony, no improvisation, just some nice tunes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This is a great book. If you've never played the blues before, like me, this is the book for you. You start out with some basic shuffels and move right into some fun and impressive songs. It takes some focus and practice but by working with the book and CD a little every day, you'll find new joy and passion in that old accoustic sitting in the corner. If you're sick of strumming through songs and want to let the guitar "sing" for you, you won't regret buying this book. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars I doubt you have a choice if it is for class...
I am about half way through reading this book for a course I'm taking. It is pretty good but, if you're like me, you'll definitely need to look up terms that are not explained. The glossary in the book is not super extensive, at 5 1/2 pages. The tone of the writing is also inconsistent: it ranges from chatty to highly technical.

The book itself seems very cheaply made ... the (paperback) cover and pages are so thin that it flops around and bends quite easily, and if you highlight in it, your marks may show through to the other side of the page. Interior is black and white (not that it really needs color).

Chapters are:
1. An Introduction to the Study of Speech Acoustics
2. Acoustic Theory of Speech Production
3. Introduction to the Acoustic Analysis of Speech
4. The Acoustic Characteristics of Vowels and Diphthongs
5. The Acoustic Characteristics of Consonants
6. The Acoustic Correlates of Speaker Characteristics

3-0 out of 5 stars buy the DVD version
This is a OK book although its a little difficult to follow at times. It's like a lot of instructional books, I doubt its understandability was tested by giving it to a couple dozen new struggling guitarists to try out, and then take note in gaps in logic and instructional gaps etc. That would have helped in this case. If you know a topic really well, sometimes its hard to imagine how someone would not understand your explanation. Still its got a lot of good stuff. This particular incarnation has the audio cd which at times is not that great a help. I would buy the version with the DVD.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Resource!!
Like many others I have purchased many guitar books with high hopes only to find that only one or two licks are worthwhile and another 20 bucks has come and gone...not so with this book!! Wyatt has a great acoustic style, a great instructional style and a wealth of bluesy guitar ideas in this volume!!

Lots of variations on the 12 bar blues with beginner to intermediate licks, riffs and fills to keep the guitarist engaged and the audience listening. Wyatt incorporates and intertwines fills and ryhthmn parts in a very cool, fluid style. With just a little practice many of the examples are quickly mastered.

The book breaks down the parts into easy to learn chunks and then gradually adds fills and licks and bass runs until you have a tiny little blues masterpiece, easy to follow well worth the $$

Product Description

Acoustic Emission (AE) techniques have been studied in civil engineering for a long time. The techniques are recently going to be more and more applied to practical applications and to be standardized in the codes. This is because the increase of aging structures and disastrous damages due to recent earthquakes urgently demand for maintenance and retrofit of civil structures in service for example. It results in the need for the development of advanced and effective inspection techniques. Thus, AE techniques draw a great attention to diagnostic applications and in material testing. The book covers all levels from the description of AE basics for AE beginners (level of a student) to sophisticated AE algorithms and applications to real large-scale structures as well as the observation of the cracking process in laboratory specimen to study fracture processes.
