5-0 out of 5 stars Provides the basic tools for searching the cosmos for answers
For quite sometime I had wondered how it was that Astrologers were able to relate the heavens to our everyday lives. This book most definitely satisfied my curiosity. It definitely makes a sense.I would say this book is perfect for anyone looking to gain a deeper understanding on the subject of Astrology. This book also puts the power of interpretation in your hands, rather than relying on some newspapers horoscope section or a website which you would have to pay.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, Insightful Astrology Book
"The Only Astrology Book...." is a great book that explains in a clear, and straightforward style. The bonus CD-Rom is cool because it can create your chart without having to do the calculations by hand. Highly recommend this book.

This book is SO on! With any new relationship I check to see what the book predicts and for better or worse it is always right. Maybe I should pay more attention to what the book says and it would save me some time and heart ache ;) The title says it all really.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic book!
Great experience.Book arrived early, was in good condition, and the information provided helped me a lot.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE book for non-believers of astrology!!!
Everyone I show this book to gets their mind blown.Regardless of your opinions on metaphysical things like astrology or past lives, this is a VERY insightful, enlightening book.It spells out one's weak spots to work on and one's natural talents, as well. I find if quite helpful in understanding family members, friends, lovers and myself.I own scads of astrology books and I use this one probably the most.A not-to-be-missed book!

4-0 out of 5 stars The Universe Knows You - and here's some evidence.
If you believe that life is a roadmap to discovery - and you are interested in a more detailed map, you might find Jan Spiller's book of interest. As in many complex issues, there are no hard and fast answers on how to lead your life - but the descriptions of those in your "node" will likely resonate with you, and bring some perspective, which always does wonders.I find some of the affirmations a bit hokey - but the goal and result seems to be heightened compassion - for yourself, and for those around you.We may think it is impossible to categorize and generalize people into astrological signs, and in this book "nodes" - but surprise, surprise - for those you know well - the descriptions seem tailor made, for those you don't - a "what-if its true" scenario - that only broadens awareness and again compassion for how each human tries to cope.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing and very accurate!
I was sceptical at first, what could possibly be different than all the other books...boy was I surprised! I felt as if someone knew me so very well and that the book was written for me! I asked friends to read and it was also unbelievably accurate for them as well. This book came at the right time as my weaknesses were in black and white at the moment i needed them. Buy it, read it and be amazed...a true wonder.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clear, concise and condensed
By far the best book I own on astrology.Jan Spiller's ability to clearly articulate and define the personality traits associated with one's North Node is fascinating.A chart given in the beginning of the book helps determine where your North Node is, which is helpful in looking up the nodes of others. This is the meat of astrology put into language that is easy to understand.Jan provides an outline based on our nodal position of what our gifts and struggles are, and how to gain balance with our difficult patterns.I found it to be very telling and extremely helpful. This information is not generalized, but incredibly specific and accurate. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars beginner
This is a great book about astrology for beginner and advanced student alike. Clear, precise and fairly easy to understand.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best beginner's book out there, will benefit almost anyone
You would have to be an advanced astrologer not to benefit from this excellent primer on astrology. It has everything you will need to read your own chart and become familiar with the language of astrology (the zodiac, planets, houses, asteroids, and so on). The explanations are simple and down-to-earth, which is exactly what a beginner needs to understand astrology. The more advanced student will often refer back to it as a reference.

The authors take a very friendly approach, with excercises meant to be used to understand your own birth chart better. Upon completing the book, you will have your own interpretation of your birth chart and will be ready to read other charts and attempt more complicated analysis, such as progressed charts.

The book is free of opinions and agendas, nothing but plain astrology presented in a way that anyone can understand, given a bit of effort and dedication. This is your first stop if you are interested in astrology or know something about the subject and want to consolidate your knowledge. econ

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT Beginning Astrology Book
I completely enjoyed this book. It was interactive enough to keep me busy and informative enough to keep me excited about filling out each page. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in the process of taking their astrology knowledge to the "next level."

Basically, you fill in a lot of charts, keywords and more...all about your own chart. You will end up practically memorizing keywords etc. by the time you are finished...without even realizing you have! Well, written, well laid out...big thumbs up!

Book Description

Though the practice of astrology is many centuries old, it is only perhaps once in a generation that a thoroughly new, totally original way of looking at the zodiac is discovered. The New Astrology is such a system.

For those convinced that there is nothing new under the sun--or the stars--Suzanne White offers a startling and provocative thesis: There are not 12 but 144 signs of the zodiac, each distinct, each unique, each vital to everyone's quest for self-understanding.
By combining the astrological systems of the traditional Chinese (terrestrial) with that of the Occident (celestial), Suzanne White demonstrates that each of us is governed by two signs.Hence, a Capricorn Tiger is likely to be quite different from a Capricorn Cat, as is a Leo Dog from a Leo Dragon, and so on. This unique blend of Western and Chinese Astrology gives detailed analyses of each of the 144 signs, including individualized sections of love, sex and romance, business, money, careers, home life and compatibility (or lack of it) with other signs.
Already a best-seller in France, The New Astrology is a massive undertaking and the result of more than a decade of research and study of the two systems. It offers insights into not only our own lives, but also those of all who are close to us.Suzanne White's prose is lucid, candid, and suffused with a sense of fun, but The New Astrology is above all a serious tool for self-awareness and understand the rich variety of human nature all around us.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not as expected
I expected a good reference book comparing & combinging the two astrology systems & what I got was a simple horoscope with no substance or explaination behind it. Very disappointing when you consider her works. She could have done so much more.

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY ACCURATE!
This book contains 90% very accurate descriptions of characters and personality of the 12 chinese signs x the 12 western signs. I got this book many years ago, and it is accurate when I read her readings for my father, sisters and friends. I would say I find her description to be 90% accurate, I think the 10% deviation may be factoring in environmental influence (eg. if she says this person likes to dress up or vain, but sometimes if the person is brought up in a family or culture that doesn't support that, or if the person is not physically attractive, they may do the reverse from low self-esteem etc). But nonetheless, her description of people's personality and character is usually very spot on.

I used her book to read several of my girlfriends, it is incredible. The ones Suzzane say that are loving, kind natured, nice,- they are indeed very nice and loving! The ones she says are cheerful and humourous- they are indeed those who like to laugh and joke! She said my father's sign is a 'born winner', she is right too, for my dad worked from a job of a teacher to become a multi-millionaire investor and director. She said I'm the sincere and serious/hardworking type, and I make a livelong good friend, well that's also true as I have many friends whom I knew since kindergarten and primary school!

5-0 out of 5 stars very informative
Well worth the money.Very informative. It puts a whole new side to astrology.

4-0 out of 5 stars Interesting and Amusing Read
I had a copy of this book several years ago, loaned it out and never got it back, so when I found it on Amazon I reordered it. Very pleased with Amazon as always. In a nutshell, it combines eastern astrology's signs based on what year you were born and western signs which rely on the month. The book itself is well organized, easy to navigate, informative, and entertaining. About the only drawback was that it lacks the indepth compatibility comparisons common to most of these types of books. You won't find much information regarding yourself the Taurus/Goat getting along with your spouse the Leo/Monkey unless the author thought it was a particularly good or poor match. Still, overall it is well worth getting.

2-0 out of 5 stars interesting idea but yin/yang info is entirely incorrect!
I thought I just had a bad copy of the book or something when I was reading her definitions of yin and yang, and I've also never seen the Dog classified as yin.In ALL other material I have seen or read about yin/yang (which is considerable since I studied Taoism for years) yin is known to be feminine, dark, moist, contractive, connected to the moon.Yang is known to be masculine, bright, dry, expansive, connected to the sun.And as another reviewer farther down the line noted, her associations between the Chinese zodiac sign and its yin/yang quality are not at all in line with the ancient traditionally taught paradigm.I'm not sure where that comes from or where she learned it the way she did, but I stick with the ancient texts and original source books.

It's an ambitious undertaking, certainly, and I love the idea of blending the two forms of astrology but the actual book left me a bit cold. It's juicy reading for a few moments, but I didn't learn anything. If you're new to astrology this could be fun, but if you study the subject (Chinese or Western) this won't do much for you.And I can't stress enough the importance of the yin/yang symbolism and qualities. You can't separate that from Chinese astrology and with her system being totally different from the way it's been taught for ages I can't put any faith into it.

Cute and fluffy fun, but steer clear if you are looking for accurate information. I've owned this book for over 10 years and while I'm an enthusiastic student of astrology, I never use this as a tool. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars amusing
I found it a fun thing to read on my lunch break and that's about it. There are better books out there, but this one is okay.

1-0 out of 5 stars Wow this one is old!
Okay I bought this because I like Martine's other astrology book, "The Only Astrology Book You'll Ever Need". And it truly is the only one. LOL Sexual Astrology is from the 70's when she was no doubt, at the beginning of her astrology quest. It's not a bad book, just outdated. Good thing I only paid 5 bux for it! lol

4-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining!
This book is full of 70's sexual astrology terms. It's really fun to read with your friends. It's definitly dated and several of the examples in the book are in no way relevant to today's lifestyles, but it is a fun book to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very helpful book
This book is very accurate. Why that should be, I couldn't say. What is particularly helpful about it is that it gives a small paragraph about each sign's compatibility with every other sign, including the predicted outcome (such as "an enjoyable affair, but an unhappy marriage," or "an ardent affair, a lasting union").It mentions why two people will fight, and whether or not they can overcome this.I never thought much of astrology until I read this book, but what especially convinced me is that it read like a road map of my parents' failed marriage. If only they had read this book!

As for myself, I thought I was doomed to romantic unhappiness after the example my parents set.Yet after 10 years of unsuccessful dating, I was finally able to recognize and connect with the man of my dreams because of the guidelines laid out in this book.It has also been helpful for understanding and getting along with my friends and co-workers.

Many people seem to grasp instinctively who their best matches are, and I am never surprised when I look up the compatibility of the happiest couples I know and find that they are a perfect match. But if you struggle in this department, and you need help figuring out what you need in a partner, this book is for you!

Disclaimer:although the sexual descriptions in this book are usually quite accurate, they are also very graphic. If such things make you uncomfortable, I recommend another book by the same author, "The Only Astrology Book You Will Ever Need."It also has information about romantic compatibility, but it is much more tastefully done.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good book but...
Older astrology book - you can tell by the type-set but all-in-all not bad.A good fun reference. Not a whole lot of detail but then again how much sexual detail can it hold.I have other books on sexual astrology as well as multiple astrology books and this is now part of my collection.A keeper but not the only book of it's kind that you'll want or need to own. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Deserted Island Double-Take!
I have studied Astrology for almost 20 years. For a brief period at the peak of my studies I did practice Astrology and was working toward NCGR certification. I chose to put my energies into having a family, however, and put Astrology aside for awhile. I still use it as a tool and have come back to it in the last year. I thought I'd write some reviews on the many books i do own. As I clicked on this book (my favorite) I actually did a double take at Ms Gallanti's review written in 2003, thinking i ALREADY wrote it. Here's why: I too, have said many times over the years that "if I were asked to take only ONE Astrology book to a deserted island for the rest of my life, it would be Mr Arroyo's Astrology Karma & Transformation"!

Do not pass go, do not collect $200, just buy it, and I'll see y'all on that island someday!

5-0 out of 5 stars personal astrology
Loved this book. Well written and comprehensive. Understandable and useful even for the non- astrolger. Tremendous insight.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's amazing how finally things get together, the knowledge from the past finally spreading out to everyone!
Thank you author!

5-0 out of 5 stars Astrology made more accessib le
The more I read about astrology the more beautiful and complex it is. There is so much to be assimilated and interpreted: houses, planets, signs, aspects, elements, etc. Stephen Arroyo has taken the subject of karma and really explained how the energies of the planets can affect or reveal how karma is expressed. He's done this in a way that is easy to understand, and breathtaking to read. He gets right to the heart of the matter, with examples to clarify the concepts. The book added to my understanding of transits and progressions. Arroyo's discussion of Edgar Cayce's readings on astrology were illuminating. I loved his discussion of the application of astrology to counseling, and how a deep understanding of astrology helps one to be a better counselor. He also includes a bibliography of books he quoted from in the text, that can only serve as a beacon for more knowledge of astrology. After reading this book I am hungry for more! The insights in this book will make it useful for years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best astrology book of all time
If I was asked to choose between all my astrology books to pick one and only one to take with me on a desert island, I would pick Mr Arroyo's classic Astrology Karma and Transformation. In fact when I moved to the USA from England with only my backpack this book was with me. Why? It contains the most profound psychologically and spiritually insightful astrology that you can get your hands on. In fact, this book is almost a shame to read, because once you have read it, you will be hard pushed to find a better astrological text...

Arroyo here talks about the chart and particularly about the aspects and transits of Saturn and the outer planets, not with a cookbook approach but with the insight of the very special humanistic alchemy that carachterizes Arroyo's work. Drawing for Jungian concepts, psychology and spirituality Arroyo brings to life the birth chart and its players and weaves meaning into the life experience. And his writing is so beautiful, profound and yet simple, deep but easy to grasp. I love this man, such a jewel of mind and wisdom for us to enjoy...

In the book you will also find lots of stuff about the ascendant, transits, progressions, little bits and pieces of information that, even years after , you will refer to and think about and mull over in your mind. This is one of those books with that magical holographic quality, where every time you read it, it expands and you see stuff you had not seen before...

If I had to reccommend one book for you not to miss, this would be the one. Buy it. You will treasure it for life! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars TOPS!
Best astrology I've used. Studied and did astrological charts many lifetimes ago. I usedtheir book last year and found it to be very much on the mark, so I bought this year's edition. Highly recommend.

5-0 out of 5 stars More than worth it!
If you even remotely believe in Astrology, this is a "must have" book! The front cover states, "Discover Your Future with the World's Most Accurate Astrology Team" and I speak from experience when I say that Jeff Jawer and Rick Levine have been 'right on' with my forecasts for the past two years. This is why I purchased the book.

I know who they are, I have experience with their accuracy, and their book went above and beyond my expectations! I didn't expect the front section explaining Astrology basics, houses, nodes, and so on. Titled, Astrology & You, this is a great introduction to Astrology for the novice and a great quick reference for veterans.

While I'm only in the second month of the personal forecast section, they are already 2-2 in accuracy!

An outstanding guide written by outstanding, down-to-earth professionals!

Book Description

Illustrates how aspects can offer a profound depiction of an individual and his or her destiny.

Contains comprehensive sections full of interpretations for every planetary combination.

Concepts are explained through the use of actual birth charts and diagrams.

A core textbook at the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London.

Aspects are an essential piece of the astrological puzzle when it comes to interpreting and using the information that astrology can give us. It is not enough to know the placement of the planets on the horoscope. It is the relationships between the stars and planets that let us grasp the destiny of the individual. Aspects describe the drama of our lives--the complex configurations that influence what will happen to us over time.

Sue Tompkins, a fellow of the Faculty of Astrological Studies in London, shows how to interpret aspects when doing daily astrological readings. She uses the lives of real people to plot the aspects and offers examples of every possible planetary combination. Detailing the influence of oppositions, trines and elemental trines, and cardinal, mutable, and fixed crosses, Tompkins shows how aspects provide the energy in the chart that transforms the horoscope into something symbolizing an alive and vital human being. With Aspects in Astrology, Tompkins provides both the novice and the experienced astrologer the evidence and concrete methods needed to grasp the vast knowledge offered to us by our horoscope.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent choice, add this to your collection sooner than later
I have owned this book for a few years now. Though I am enrolled in a super correspondance course I also turn to this book in addition to the material I've been given. If I recall, this is a reprint of a much sought after OOP book. If so, I am grateful.Just when your brain is stuck on a symbolism or you need a fresh idea- crack this open.Full of insightful knowledge that exudes confidence, experience and practical application. This book is about uniting planetary symbols for interpretation. No chart delineation is included and it's not intended to be.You will instantly recognize the truth in the pages.

4-0 out of 5 stars important info for any astrologer
This book lists out all the possible aspects between planets and explains each in detail.A very helpful reference book for astrologers.

4-0 out of 5 stars Aspects in Astrology
This book offers good in depth descriptions of planetary contacts through aspects, some of which I thought were right on.However, it mostly describes what happens with hard aspects. It only mentions briefly how some of the issues in the life would be easier if it were a trine. Although, there are in depth descriptions of the meaning of quintiles, semi-sextiles, sesquiquadrates, etc. in general, he does not indicate the difference if a planet makes that kind of an aspect vs a true hard aspect. I would have liked to have heard the significant differences, instead of having to infer them myself.

5-0 out of 5 stars aspects to astrology
I thought this was a great book on aspects on a persons chart. Highly recommend this book

5-0 out of 5 stars The most comprehensive and clear explanation of aspects
One gets the sense from reading this book that Ms. Tompkins has extensive experience in chart analysis ... because the text is free of clichés, conjectures, and contrived descriptions. The core energies of planetary connections are expressed with razor-sharp precision and truth. Her writing style is elegant and eminently readable. This book ranks among other astrological literature by Dane Rudhyar, Stephen Arroyo, Liz Green, Greg Bogart, Donna Cunningham, and Rob Hand.

4-0 out of 5 stars Exploring the mysteries of the prenatal eclipses
I generally like both authors of this book, but after reading it I was left with mixed feelings.

The first part, written by Jan Spiller, interprets each planet's placement through the signs and houses. Well, Jan Spiller was basically the reason I bought this book. Having read her book on the moon's nodes, "Astrology for the Soul", and being completely amazed by it, I immediately bought this one too, with no second thought. I
must say though, that I was quite disappointed by her interpretations. I understand that the planets' placements are meant to be interpreted in a spiritual context, but still, what I read felt foreign to me, almost irrelevant. It's as if each interpretation focuses on one small part of what that placement could signify for the person, and ignores all the rest. I guess the fact that she separates all characteristics within each placement into "dynamic" and "static" (something like "positive" and "negative") made things worse for me, because I can't help but finding such good/bad distinctions simplistic, and ultimately rather confusing.

Anyway, the second part, written by Karen McCoy (with the contribution of Jan Spiller), interprets prenatal eclipses. And this is the real gem of the book. Prenatal eclipses are a rather neglected topic in Astrology, but they have a great significance in understanding karmic patterns and soul purpose. Karen McCoy has done a comprehensive research on the subject, and provides amazingly insightful explanations. Tables are also included, where you can find when was the last solar and lunar eclipse right before your birth, and in what sign did the eclipse occur.

So, the part on prenatal eclipses is what makes this book worth reading, in my view, and that's where all my four stars go. Highly recommended for those interested in karma and karmic Astrology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fairly complete
This book was much more complete than I ever expected. I use it as a reference on a regular basis. The information appears to be fairly accurate and fairly detailed. Lots of formulas to help the user calculate and draw their own charts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent overall introduction to astrology
This is a first class general introduction to all of real astrology. If you have heard or suspected that there is a great deal more to it than the newspaper columns, this book is a good place to begin finding out more. Rae Orion explains the basics and complexities of the birth chart (a proper horoscope is based on the exact time, date and place of birth) in a clear, straightforward manner.

In "The Cosmic Cookbook" section, Orion takes the reader through the basics of birth chart interpretation. Sun signs, Moon signs, the positions of all the planets in the various signs and houses e.g. Mars in Aquarius, Uranus in the sixth house and so on. Real life examples are scattered throughout the book. Other sections cover basic compatibility, both Sun sign combinations and more complex relationship astrology. Towards the end there is "Ten Types Of Astrology" (including Vedic and Chinese) and some more esoteric features of the horoscope are briefly covered in "Ten Ways To Complicate A Chart" (such as midpoints and Arabic parts).

An excellent starter. "Parkers Astrology" could be a colourful complement to this volume, and I recommend Stephen Arroyo's "Chart Interpretation Handbook" as a possible next step.

3-0 out of 5 stars Ok for beginners
This was my first book on Astrology, and I must say it's definitely helpful in understanding some of the most confusing basic ideas behind the subject. The book goes into plenty of detail about what all the planets and houses mean and it teaches you how to read your own chart. I've already learned more from this book alone about my chart than I can even put together. However, I found the information about aspects a bit weak. The chart for figuring out the aspects of your chart didn't seem quite accurate (...), and the information about more aspects farther into the book was not easy to understand. I'd say if you want to learn more about aspects to find another book, but this is pretty good if you're just starting out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent and thorough
Don't write off this book because it's about astrology, and don't buy into the stereotype that believers are flaky. The author certainly doesn't fit this stereotype. This book is written seriously and intelligently. If you don't know anything about astrology and would like to learn as much as you can, this is the book for you. This book is very easy to understand and proves that astrology is uncannily accurate. Orion helps dispel skepticism (from close-minded people) regarding astrology by discussing the mathematical basis (referring to planetary alignment) for this ancient science. There is an entire section in the later pages of the book devoted to this mathematical aspect, and it gets quite complicated, though Orion breaks it down well. Even gifted mathematicians will have to spend some time here, but if you're devoted to it, you'll be pleased with the results. Keep in mind that you will need to know not only the date of your birth and your birthplace but your exact birth time, which is essential for an accurate reading. Give this book a chance, and you'll be awestruck with your newfound information and perspective.

1-0 out of 5 stars Appropriate Title
Appropriate in that you'd have to be a dummy to believe in the validity of astrology.Time and time again the claims of astrology have been refuted.Yet, the popular press continues to pump out worthless tomes such as this one. When will the dumbing down of American society end? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars nicely written
It's not often you find a well written and organized book on either astrology or sex, and this is both. Worthwhile and interesting.

5-0 out of 5 stars A welcome and recommended contribution to Metaphysical Studies collections
Sexual treatises usually focus on physiology and physical aspects, so it's quite unusual to find a survey which focuses on the astrological elements of attraction and sex, but "The Astrology of Great Sex" fills the information gap in providing astrologer's sun-by-sun analysis of which partnerships are really complementary. A welcome and recommended contribution to Metaphysical Studies collections, readers will learn the basics of sexual turnoffs and turn-ons with an astrological focus in chapters that cover dating, attraction, and sun signs.

Book Description
Using a new language of energy based on the ancient “four elements” and in harmony with that used by the more advanced healing arts, renowned author Stephen Arroyo here explores how astrology as a language of energy can be astoundingly accurate and useful in illuminating individuals’ energy exchange in all close relationships. The preface, author’s note, introduction, and early chapters of Person-to-Person Astrology lay the groundwork for serious consideration of astrology as a significant discipline. The following chapters detail the influence of the four elements—Fire, Earth, Water, Air—on the 12 signs, with a particular emphasis on the rising sign (Ascendant). The author shows readers how to experiment by comparing birth charts, and explains, through detailed descriptions, people’s psychological motivations and needs based on the positions of their Moon, Venus, and Mars. Appendices include astrological definitions, keywords, and sign tables that allow readers quick access to the basics. Written in the author’s trademark clear, accessible style, Person-to-Person Astrology presents a new approach to finding fulfillment in any kind of relationship. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars After waiting for so many years...
For a new book from my absolute favorite astrology author
I was quite disappointed .
No new insights, a lot of basic and retreaded information from his older books.
I still use all his older material on a regular basis and recommend them highly for their incredible insights into the human condition but this one is really not worth it for anyone who is already familiar with his work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on relationships!
I'm a longtime fan of Mr. Arroyo's work and Person-to-Person Astrology to me is his Magnum Opus.I heard he had a new book out from a very perceptive review by Mary Plumb at mountainastrologer.com which really gives an excellent overview. I agree with her assessment that "this is a wise and wonderful book." It's very accessible for non-astrologers and yet it has so much to offer us perennial students of the subject.

I really enjoyed the beginning chapters. He's quite critical of our modern culture and observes how it prevents us from recognizing our authentic selves, and shows how astrology can help us discover our essential nature, and recognize our individual motivations and expectations. He's an amazingly clear writer who's not afraid to tell it how he sees it... andeven if you don't agree, it's really thought provoking!

What's different about this book, compared to other astrology books, is its scientific and scholarly approach. This isn't just `theory'. Over 30 years of research and counseling he gathered hundreds of quotes from interviews and questionnaires so you get real people's experiences to illustrate the "energy interaction" between people. He also has found the best quotes from other respected authors' observations and gives full references to their sources. All these quotations combine to give us a clear overview so we can better understand our relationships and how we resonate or clash with each other.... He explores many little-noted aspects of astrological factors and really illuminates their meanings in a strikingly original way. This is a great practical guide for analyzing relationships

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but expected even better
Lets start by saying that any book by Arroyo is better than no book from Arroyo. And that any book from Arroyo is better than about 90% of other astrology books out there. Having said that, this is not one of Arroyo's finset works, in my opinion. It is a book on some of the basics of relationship astrology, and it is directed at an audience of beginners and complete astrology novices. And here lies the snag with this book. Arroyo is such a refined astrologer, that a book of basics written by him, seems like a complete waste. Its like a gourmet chef teaching how to boil an egg. Or an Einstein teaching first graders their times tables. Reading this I was left with a feeling of dissapointment that after so many years of not publishing any new works, there was nothing here for me to sink my teeth into.

The book itself is of course well written and pulsing with Mr Arroyos very warm and insightful personality. But it is basically a book about Moon, Mars and Venus placements by sign (no mention of houses) and their role in relationships and compatibility. The intent here is that of looking at compatibility as energy exchange between individuals as signified by the energies of the elements and signs. Good concept, but he wrote about this much better and in more depth in his book "Relationships and life cycles".

Overall a perfectly good book, but a bit of a dissapointment to this old timer, who was anticipating an Arroyo book with a little more substance to it, maybe a little closer ot his classic Astrology, Karma and Transformation. But then, that would probably be asking too much. As such, glad this man is publishing at all and hoping to soon be hearing about more forthcoming titles from this exceptional author.

5-0 out of 5 stars Steven Arroyo has outsone himself again!
I love this book.I have read all of Steven Arroyo's books and found "Person to Person Astrology" to be quite insightful and comprehensive.I will be referring to this book for many years!

Book Description
A contemporary and practical guide to Mayan astrological techniques

Discusses the logic and meaning of the 20 day-signs of the Mayan calendar

Explains the many cycles of Mayan astrology, such as the 9-day cycle of the Night Lords and the 13-day trecena

Contains extensive tables of Mayan astrological data, allowing readers to cast their own Mayan horoscopes

How to Practice Mayan Astrology presents a contemporary guide to one of the most sophisticated astrological systems ever developed. Like other ancient peoples, the Maya looked to the cycles of the planets as markers of time and designators of order. The predictable cycles they observed became codified in the Mayan calendar and astrological system as a way of organizing the seeming chaos of human life.

Mayan astrology is based on 20 named days that are cycled 13 times to create a 260-day calendar, the Tzolkin. The authors explain the symbolism, logic, and meaning of the 20 day-signs; how these signs reflect 260 possible personality types; and how they can be used for divination. They also explain the important role of the Four Directions and the planet Venus in ones personality matrix and life issues. Included are extensive, easy-to-use tables of Mayan astrological data, allowing readers to determine their day-signs, to see how these signs are also influenced by the cycle of the Night Lords and the 13-day trecena, and to cast their own horoscopes.

1-0 out of 5 stars Content, OK. Ephemeris is WRONG!!!
I have carefully checked the signs shown in the ephemeris (which comprises about 50% of the books volume) with the work done by those who support Jose Arguelles and Dr. Carl Calleman, the recognized experts on the Mayan Calendar. And the values in the ephemeris of this book are WRONG! The error appears to be due to the fact that the authors did not research the Gregorian calendar well enough to discover (what I thought was a rather well-known fact) that in October, 1582, there was an 11-day adjustment to the Gregorian calendar. Therefore, I consider this book to be practically useless!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for any comprehensive New Age library.
How to Practice Mayan Astrology: The Tzolkin Calendar and Your Life Path offers a modern analysis of the Maya planetary cycle keyed to understanding the Mayan calendar and astrological system. The symbolism and logic are explained in chapters which also assess applications and analysis strategies, making for an important variation on your typical astrological guide: perfect for any comprehensive New Age library.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent learning tool for the Mayan method of astrology, and culture.
I bought this book for two reasons; I became interested in the ancient Maya, as a project for my Anthropology class in college. The interest stayed with me, so the book was a natural progression. Secondly, I do natal astrology charts and discovered the astrologer, Bruce Scofield, online at "The Mountain Astrologer" website. As I read every article I could find by him, I discovered that he is an authority on theMaya culture.
The Mayan calendar in itself is a challenge...and if you're up to it, I recommend this book as a wonderful teacher. Bruce Scofield presents material that can be difficult to fathom, in a simple, easy to study and understand manner.
Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Astrology's Secrets to Hot Romance: How to Find true Compatibility and the One Who's Right for You
This book is a keeper.I could not put it down!!! My friends have all wanted to borrow it and I have had a hard time getting it back from them. This book is easy to follow and easy to look up the different signs and they're compatibility with other signs. It's the "Linda Goodman's" Love signs for this millenium.Yes this is an astrology book, yet there is good deal of honest psychological advice to help deal with relationship issues that may appear in the subjects life.Everyone has some sort of strength or weakness to bring to a relationship, this book brings these issues to light, whithout judgement. This book could possibly help to heal problems that an individual may have had for years with realtionships.I highly recommend it even if the reader knows nothing of astrology.

I had to buy more copies for my friends in order to get my copy back!
A great reference book that's highly respectful for all signs. Learning about myself can sometimes be challenging yet Phyllis makes it rewarding and something I want to share. Give it to all your friends and relatives, especially the ones you want to relate with better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rich Information, Fun Reading
The prose style of this book is a delight - natural, contemporary, alive. The information is actually more subtle than it may appear on the surface. Not many astrology books step so frankly and easily into the bedroom, nor are they nearly as clear about how we interact there. There's a joyousness and zest for life underlying all the author writes that makes you want to read the next page, and leaves you feeling good about yourself and your partner.
