Excerpt: A white dwarf, also called a degenerate dwarf, is a small star composed mostly of electron-degenerate matter. They are very dense; a white dwarf's mass is comparable to that of the Sun and its volume is comparable to that of the Earth. Its faint luminosity comes from the emission of stored thermal e...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=33501 ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Simoun is a Japanese anime television series that was broadcast in Japan in 2006. It ran for 26 weekly episodes from 3 April to 25 September. A manga adaptation was published in three issues of Comic Yuri Hime. The manga shared the same characters and setting as the anime, but presented a different storyline. A second manga was serialised in Megami Magazine, with a radically different setting and a comic rather than serious and dramatic tone. There is also a two-volume light novel adaptation, which unlike the manga has a storyline close to that of the anime. In May 2007, Simoun was licensed for release in North America by Media Blasters. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Product Description
The study of close binary stars is of great importance in stellar astrophysics. The variability of the total light received from close binaries, provides the major source of information concerning stellar masses and dimensions. It conveys a substantial amount of geometrical, atmospheric and hydrodynamic information about these systems. The twomajor physical processes, other than obscuration of light duringeclipses, that cause a variation of light and polarization with orbital phase are gravitational distortion and the reflection effect. The former phenomenon manifests itself through (i) mutual shape distortion and variation of projected aspect image to the observer and (ii) the associated emergent flux which results from this distortion (gravity darkening). The second phenomenon is the actual radiative interaction. Usually it isnegligible in well separated systems, but is important in close binaries and also it is very complicated to model such systems. For theoretical modeling of such systemsone has to consider realistic models which takes into account the radiative transfer, hydrodynamics, reflection effect. ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Star formation is the process by which dense parts of molecular clouds collapse into a ball of plasma to form a star. As a branch of astronomy star formation includes the study of the interstellar medium and giant molecular clouds (GMC) as precursors to the star formation process and the study of young stellar objects and planet formation as its immediate products. Star formation theory, as well as accounting for the formation of a single star, must also account for the statistics of binary stars and the initial mass function. ... Read more
