5-0 out of 5 stars bizarre undersea info reference
Cephalopods a world guide introduces us to abizarre strange fascinating ocean world which is both diverse and complex in its familarity and its skills in having such top level rich voracious predators for abundance in the food web as major role players as both predator and prey. They all lack spikey spines armour and only few are poisonous undersea.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Photography
While this is not a deep look at these, themost fascinating of invertebrates, it is a lively book that is most valued for its illustrations. Some of the photographs here are amazing, and the taxonomic information seems to be, from this amateur's perspective, sound and up to date. This is either a lively reference or an informative coffee table book, dependeing on your point of view, but a great addition to the library of any ceph buff.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great book
Cephalopods are indisputably the coolest things ever. Thus, this book is the coolest thing ever. You should buy it unless you are a loser.

5-0 out of 5 stars Many, Many Squid
The main feature of this book is that it contains glossy photographs of every cephalopod species that has been photographed, usually more than one for each. Each species comes with a short description.Several short essays are included describing mating, chromatophors, and other aspects of cephalopod behavior and anatomy.Although I'm not sure how useful it is as a resource, it is an excellent book for those who find squids and cuttlefish interesting and for artists with an interest in sea life.

3-0 out of 5 stars Average Content, But Nice Pictures
Being a Doctor of Cephalopods, I found this book to be relatively informative, although I think it really excelled itself in the magnificant photography included in the book. I've got a joke about an octopus, but that's for another time.
Well Done!

Editorial Review

Product Description
Ammonites, as they pertain specifically to the order Ammonitida, are an extinct group of marine animals belonging to the cephalopod subclass Ammonoidea. They are excellent index fossils, and it is often possible to link the rock layer in which they are found to specific geological time periods. The closest living relative of the Ammonitida, is not the modern Nautilus which they somewhat outwardly resemble, but rather the subclass Coleoidea (octopus, squid, and cuttlefish). ...
