5-0 out of 5 stars Bedtime Story for a 13 year old
My daughter found this book so interesting and informative that she even chose it to read as a bedtime story.

5-0 out of 5 stars Keep this one in your library
To fully understand chemistry, you're obviously going to need more than one book, but this one is going to explain things better than any other you'll find.I admit that the author(s) lost me in some of the later chapters, but that's probably just dumb old me and all in all it was well worth the ride.Based on this experience, I'll very likely be reading the Genetics book too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommended by Chemistry Professor
I loaned this book to my chemistry professor and it was accurate enough and informative enough that he bought his own copy and now recommends it to his students as supplemental reading material for his course. It is very enjoyable and easy to read. The illustrations are fantastic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Less explanation
I bought this book hoping to find a detail explanation for every questions asked in the book. However, it does not. Almost all the answers are given directly without explanation. Even there is an explanation, it would be short and not helpful at all! We have to look back at the notes to find the reason for every answer! The book itself is a SOLUTION MANUAL and STUDY GUIDE! It should give the solution for every answer. Not just the answer. And it should GUIDE people to understand the answer given! Not just give the answer directly.

I do not recommend this book for those who seek detail explanation. It not worth the money. 100 bucks for just answers without detail explanation? Totally wasted!

This is a must have for organic chemistry, it is extremely helpful in my understanding of the material.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY FROM THIS PERSON
JessicaC. Does not reply to requests for information on delivery dates and does not ship products on time. I was supposed to get my product by August 19, it is now August 22, 2010 and I still have not received it. I have to wait until October 27 to file a claim with amazon. I needed the book for school which starts in September. Never buy from this person she will never reply to you emails and will not send you the product you purchased. Avoid her like the plague.

5-0 out of 5 stars this is a true "solutions manual"
the solutions manual is as thick as the text, and that sucks to carry around, but is so very nice to have access to full worked answers for every question posed throughout the chapters, as well as carefully crafted explanations for said answers.
This is expensive but you get what you pay for.and that's a whole lot of organic chemistry. ... Read more

Great service from this seller. Received the book within 2 or 3 days of ordering and it was in perfect condition. I would definitely recommend this seller.

5-0 out of 5 stars Study Guide with Solutions Manual for McMurry's Organic Chemisty, 7th
I'm using this book in my first year of organic chemistry, very helpful with the solutions to the problems in the book, and efficient in helping study for an exam.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty helpful
The textbook itself is not always as clear as it could be.This solutions manual is definitely helpful to have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good
Product was what I wanted and the description was accurate. Shipping was fast as well. Had no problems.

3-0 out of 5 stars Meh.
Let's be honest: paying nearly $100 for a solutions manual sort of...well, sucks.

The pricing is especially onerous as one has already invested nearly $200 in McMurry's text, which does not include the answers to problems in the back, making the study guide a necessary evil.

If you're using McMurry, you're going to need this.I can't say I like it so far; the answers don't always seem to match the problems exactly, but I'm sure at some point it will be very useful. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Organic Chemistry by Janice Gorzynski Smith (Hardcover)

As a student I find this text one of the best I have ever used. The easy to follow bulleted information format theme throughout the book is extremely helpful both in learning the material and studying for a test. Its beautiful cover, clean molecular graphics, and relevant aside images create a pleasant aesthetic that transfers to the material and enhances the learning process. Visualization is so important for organic chemistry and beautifully presented here. Chapter and page layouts make sense and are easy to follow as new subjects are presented. If you are a professor I would recommend you start using this text book to teach your O-Chem course, your students will benefit from it.

I needed to know Organic Chemistry by Janice Gorzynski Smith was THE book that was required for my class. Having the full cover image, author information, and ISBN displayed prominently saved me time, energy, and heartache.

4-0 out of 5 stars Organic Chemistry I Workbook For Dummies
Lots of space for practice, with explanations given as well. The only part that I dislike is how it's arranged; it's difficult to find exactly what you want practice in.However, if you just want a general overview of all the concepts in Organic Chemistry I, then this is a must have.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great!
This book is good to read in accordance with a text book. I don't recommend just using this book if you want to learn about Organic Chemistry. Some concepts are not explained as well and my need more examples.

5-0 out of 5 stars useful book
if you are taking organic class and nothing make sence to you, get this book. It helped me a lot to understand the basic thought on Organic Chem. You may still need to read your text book for details specially if your teacher is very much deteil oriented like mine.

3-0 out of 5 stars Helpful
Lots of problems here to solve. I would use it with Organic Chemistry for Dummies. I never could get the knack of Organic Chemistry, but itwasn't the book's fault. This is actually a helpful book with some good practice problems.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Ice Breaker
This is an extremely well done introduction to ochem.I've read a lot of Dummies books, and this is one of the best written. No small feat considering people with PhDs in the hard sciences are challenged to teach at an introductory level.

It's quite simple, so of limited use by the end of the first semester of a 2 semester ochem series. Despite what the title suggests, it's got a brief explanation of the material, and then some questions. It's not strictly a workbook.

I would strongly suggest getting it just before going into ochem to get a brief overview, and by the end of the first semester you'll see where things are heading in the 2nd semester. The practice questions are also good for the level of the book.

Don't expect to get much out of this book if you are at the end of the year and looking for more practice questions. It's too basic for that.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best home chemistry book available
I bought this book because of a renewed interest in Chemistry, a subject that I very well on in college, but forgot most of twenty years later. Based on the books' description, I was hoping for a book that was hands on, would cover the basics, and would lead me into more advanced chemistry at some point.

The book did not disappoint - it by far exceeded my expectations. The first five chapters of the book were preparatory - maintaining a lab notebook, safety, what laboratory chemicals and equipment need to be purchased. The author offers cheaper solutions for chemicals or equipment that could be made by oneself or purchased cheaply from a grocery/hardware store. The fifth chapter describes the basics of lab practices - making weight and volume measurements, working with glass tubing, filtration, etc. These important details were very beneficial to me, as I had forgotten all of them.

Chapter six and on were labs, which started from the basics, and became progressively more challenging. The labs are grouped by type (i.e., separating mixtures, solubility, etc). Each lab starts with some background information, but it is typically brief. It is recommended to purchase a chemistry text (although not necessary to do the labs).I bought the recommended book, and found it quite beneficial. The labs are not "child" chemistry, like making elephant toothpaste or baking soda fountains, but are high-school and college level, and beyond.Dangerous chemicals are sometimes used, as is necessary if you want to do real chemistry, but the author uses good judgment and uses safer chemicals where possible.

There are a few experiments where an equation or some important details are not given - it seems that the author is trying to encourage the reader to do some research in a chemistry reference text. There are also questions at the end of each lab, and some of them are quite difficult.

The author maintains a website and forum with errata and supplementary information, and also hosts a Youtube channel that complements the book nicely. For a small subscription cost ($18), there is an addendum that contains an answer guide for the lab questions at the end of each lab, as well as over 30 additional labs.I highly recommend that as well.

This is by far the best book for home chemistry that I have found, and I am thoroughly pleased with it.

5-0 out of 5 stars As advertised
This book is exactly as advertised. It has a big section in the front explaining what you need, what you realy don't need, and why. If you want to learn about chemistry and have a home lab. This is a good book to use as a lab work book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful book
Very useful book for teachers who love and enjoy making experiments not only in a laboratory but also in a theoretical class of chemistry.
The instructions are so0 clear and the ilustrations are so good.

5-0 out of 5 stars You're gonna need a chemistry equipment supplier.
This book is some solid science! It's more for the home-school crowd than the dilettante who just wants some party tricks. Granted, some of the experiments are pretty darn cool (copper ore comes to mind), but you're not going to be blowing stuff up like on YouTube - hopefully - you're just going to be doing some basic (dangerous) experiments.

This book is NOT for kids under 12 or so to use alone. It involves acids and bases of strengths which can cause burns. Which is half the fun, of course, because the book has a comprehensive safety section.

You will need some lab equipment to get more out of this book than just "hey, you can do that?" You'll need someplace that sells chemicals and someplace that sells beakers, etc. Fortunately, the book tells you how to find these sorts of retailers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just "home" chemistry but THE chemistry of the future
This is a dream come true -- a home chemistry book that is not just a bagatelle, but a full-sized lab manual and reference book (412+ pages). It's a serious book. Sadly, it will also be an historical publication, I predict, the cornerstone of all real chemistry of the future. Why? Because of the Culture of Fear: fear of chemicals, fear of glass, fear of litigation, fear of terrorism, fear of druggies (see Thompson's note about iodine on page 65). Already that culture has resulted in the death of the chemistry set, as noted in his Preface. In the near future, that same culture will result in the death of the chemistry class, too, which can easily be "replaced" by computer simulations and labs equipped with timid fake nonsense. (As much as I admire many applets that simulate reactions, as miniature works of art, I also find them disturbing as harbingers of the chemistry pseudo-lab of the future.) As that transformation continues, the day will come when KMnO4 has been replaced on the lab bench by a lookalike that pretends to do a few limited KMnO4-esque tricks and can optionally be sipped as imitation grape juice. At that point, home chemistry will be the ONLY chemistry, the only game in town. Then millions will thank Robert Thompson for having shown them a way back to the real thing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Similar effect to Lavoisier only more so ... abstractifying the subject
First published 1947. This Dover reprint is the 1970 edition. About 950 pages. Naturally has excursions into physics, including the structure of the nucleus and electrons, and things like electron shells. Also of course gas material from Avogadro onwards, and the relation with atomic and molecular weights, vapour pressures etc. And states of matter, such as ice, and water including deuterium and tritium; and crystallography. He doesn't clearly distinguish theories from empirically established material - but this is very common and part of the legacy of overblown mathematical treatments. Naturally enough, it has to deal with chromatography, and mass chromatography - i.e. separation by weight. This book predates most colour chemistry. Pauling made a mistake over 'high energy bonds'; he has quite a bit of material on biochemistry, perhaps foreshadowing Pauling's later vitamin C obsession, including hormones, vitamins, amino acids, and enzymes. There's some metallurgy. There's also an account of ektachrome colour photography - state of the art then. Much of the book is organised on periodic table lines, for example by metals with similar characteristics, and inert gases etc - and of course the full table had only recently been elucidated when Pauling wrote first, as not just transuranics but a few other gaps had been filled only in living memory. Other periodicities of course are discussed. And there's the maths of thermodynamics (includes in effect thermite - as in 9/11), heats and rates of reaction, and 3-D geometry and some other things. He gets supercooled things wrong, and I think the kinetic theory of gases.

If you like to know how things are made, and what from, and have a sense of historical continuity, this is a very good one volume reference. Pauling was not one to admit he was uncertain, so this book is more hard edged than it ought to be - I suspect in lectures and teaching Pauling would have been less dogmatic. The emphasis on overviews, and mathematical models, does however remove some of the picturesqueness of earlier chemistry texts, with accounts of mercury mines in Spain, or German minerals and Paracelsus, or wallpapers and 'poison green', so it's relatively austere. Highly recommended for people with science interests, and some maths, who like to ponder the slow processes of unravelling truths.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great chemistry textbook from the master himself
I am a chemistry teacher and a chemist, with a background in physical chemistry. I have had the good fortune of having some world-class chemists as teachers during my education, who's insight and wisdom I have (with much effort) tried to incorporate into my own teaching style, as they have changed my life in very significant ways. I purchased this textbook after reading many positive reviews, leaving me curious to hear the words from the horses mouth. Although I have only read the first few chapters so far, I can say that this is the greatest inorganic chemistry textbook that I have ever read. Pauling does a beautiful job of synthesizing classic and modern physics in developing the theories of what is now known as Quantum Mechanics -- his approach is from that of pure thermodynamics, and masterfully done, I might add. Never condescending, but coming from a very different level of understanding, reading this book is like watching any master artist creating their art before your very eyes -- genius in it's raw, pure, unadulterated form. The best that any intelligent being can do is sit back and watch the artist do his thing -- in awe.

5-0 out of 5 stars WONDERFUL!
I bought this book several years ago as a resource to complement to my work in physics. At the time I was studying ferromagnetic materials.Pauling writes so well and with such clarity that I found myself wondering why physics textbooks were so dull and hard to understand by comparison.I should have written this review years ago so that others in the sciences could have benefited from access to such a wonderful reference book.

5-0 out of 5 stars my ''chemical'' childhood
I started my serious education in chemistry from this book. I was very young then. This book, which was later supported by other more specialistic books in chemistry and physics made me to choose chemistry as my specialisation.

Really great introduction to the chemistry for young people with a passion!

Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars Linus Pauling won two nobel prizes AND he writes fantastically
Rooted in both vigor and simplicity, this chemistry text will amaze you. Pauling is very mindful of how the student ought to recieve information and in that he carefully picks the order of topics. Too often people disreguard the importance of the presentation of information. It's a shame because they are being willfully ignorant to techniques that catalyze and promote learning. Our brains are more responsive to associative learning because biologically that's what goes on in neural circuitry. Anyways, it's best I don't spur off into a tangent. Buy this book. It taught me chemistry. ... Read more

Product Description

In this innovative text, Bruice balances coverage of traditional topics with bioorganic chemistry to show how organic chemistry is related to biological systems and to our daily lives. Functional groups are organized around mechanistic similarities, emphasizing what functional groups do rather than how they are made. Tying together the reactivity of a functional group and the synthesis of compounds resulting from its reactivity prevents students from needing to memorize lists of unrelated reactions. The Sixth Edition has been revised and streamlined throughout to enhance clarity and accessibility, and adds a wealth of new problems and problem-solving strategies.

5-0 out of 5 stars thank u
i just wanted to thank u, When i first opened the book, there was a sweet thank u comment from the seller. It was really grateful. I would definitely buy more stuff from you , and its actually thank u kinda stuff

5-0 out of 5 stars Professional, nothing to complain about
The shipment was quick. The condition was new (as noted by the seller).Good work, would definitely recommend.

3-0 out of 5 stars The pointy end of the textbook racket.
It would've been nice if this had cost an order of magnitude less.Unfortunately, I, as a student, have no choice in what books I buy, and that's probably why textbooks have such abusive prices. My only choice is who it is that gets to gouge well north of $100 for something that costs around $10 to print; in any case, when class starts, I must have the book--and looky here, it's a new edition. It was this (~$160) or the campus bookstore (~$250).Either one was going to put a nasty dent in my wallet.I suppose it could've been worse.

5-0 out of 5 stars A good solid set of notes and key points and concepts
I teach chemistry. In short, this is a good solid set of notes and key points and concepts for students of IB Chemistry in one place. There are no questions or problems to work in this study guide - just summary and key points.I haven't found a better more succinct guide in one place anywhere else to get summary, main points and key concepts.

Chemistry for the IB Diploma: Study Guide (IB Study Guides) (Purchased on 08/25/2008)
everything was ok

5-0 out of 5 stars Great review for test
I used this book two years ago, sorry about late review, but it is the reason why I passed IB Chemistry higher level. In the two weeks or so before the exam I went through the entire book, reading everything and doing the problems at the end of each chapter and it was amazing and very helpful. It organizes everyhting into groups and charts that make it much easier to review/memorize/learn.HL and SL material is also clearly marked.Helped me all throughout the year for reviews for tests also.A must have.

3-0 out of 5 stars A good study helper...
... but I wouldn't rely too heavily on it.The book was very informative, but it was hard to grasp the basic formulas because they aren't clearly presented- they're just used in examples. While this may work fine for some, it isn't a best choice for presenting information.
It was helpful in studying for my IB test and getting the vocabulary right, but that's about all.

4-0 out of 5 stars essential but not by any means enough
I believe this is an essential book for any IB chemistry student. This is because of the following reasons:
1. This book is concise and direct. It summarizes what you need to know in IB chemistry in less than 200 pages. This is very concise compared to other IB chemistry books as the IBID's book which has more than 600 pages.
2. This book managed to present information in a relatively interesting way. The organization of paragraphs and information is less "boring" compared to other conventional books.

However, this book is by no means enough due to the following reasons:
1. This book offers very few past IB questions. This is a great disadvantage because solving past exams is a vital part of preparing for the exam.
2. This is a great revision book. It is a study guide perhaps not very fit for 1st time study. In order to use this book alone, you must have a really good teacher.

Now personally, I strongly recommend using this book with another bigger IB or A-level book and solving tons of past exams. The bigger book will be for first time study and this book will be used for monthly revisions. I believe this is the best way to get a 7. By the way, I got a 7 in IB chem. HL.

I hope this review is of benefit.

2-0 out of 5 stars Cliffs Quick Review Chemistry
Still made Chemistry boring and too complicated.Found that The Complete Idiot's Guide to Chemistry is a much more user friendly learning aid.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great
Received quicker than expected. Quality was great, just as if I bought brand new from a bookstore. would definitly purchase thru them again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick but intense
I am a physisist with some interest in knowing chemistry, I found this book a very intense introduction that gives a panoramic view, good to continue with more advanced readings.

3-0 out of 5 stars CliffsQuickReview Chemistry
ClifsQuickReview Chemistry offers succinct summaries of fundamentals of chemistry. It covers the basic principles, defines terms and laws, and would be useful for a beginning hobbyist, I suppose. However, high school chemistry also involves a lot of math, naming ionic/covalent compounds, and predicting products, which this book says nothing about. I am a high school sophomore and so far, I have not found this book to be very helpful as a supplement.

5-0 out of 5 stars Friggin' Incredible.
This book got me through a very grueling high school chem class. It is very easy to understand. I can't put my finger on it, but something about the way this book is written just makes understanding come naturally for me.

Hope it does the same for you. A great value. Your grade depends on it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Let's Review: Chemistry
When I purchased this book on July 27th, 2010 and was given the option of selecting shipping, I chose the one of cheaper cost of course. But when I recieved the book within only 2 days, I was very pleased. The book was used, but looked and felt new. There were no visable damage and I was very pleased with the fact that all the pages were in the book and there was no pencil|pen marks written in the book as well.

5-0 out of 5 stars great.
i was struggling rlly rlly bad w/ chem. i was on my way to an F on the regents. I took the practice tests from the red barrons chem w/ all the 9 actual regents exams, and was failing everything cause i had forgotten everything. But i got this book litterally one week before (when i thought i was doomed) and studyied my heart out with it. it was my life for that one week. (btw, its rlly not that big, half the stuff is 'not on regents info. '). Anyway, i learnt all the subtance, and regained all the knoledge and informatoon , and it all was so simple and it all became easy. [except mole calculations arent explained so well]. So get this, its AMAZING!!! and then, get the red one w/ actual exams, (i studied that entire book the morning before the test (the test was at one oclock), and it incontrovertibly raised my grade by at least 15 pnts. the regents is sooo predictable, i saw all thesame questions from the tests in the book. Anyway get this, and the red one, and ull be set. its just too good. Better than paying for 10 hours of tutoring, and only like 20 bucks! I ended up getting a B, and was so happy. Really, if ur serous about doing well, u gotta get this book too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Helped my daughter a lot.
My daughter just started learning chemistry and she said this has helped her a lot. It's simple and to the point, it even has regents questions and some answers in it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive

However, the book appears to give a thorough review of NY State Regents material for Chemistry: The Physical Setting. ... Read more

Product Description
The Ninth Edition of Organic Chemistry continues Solomons-Fryhle's tradition of excellence in teaching and preparing students for success in the organic classroom and beyond.

Students are often overwhelmed by the early rigors of organic chemistry. Solomons-Fryhle prepares students for these early rigors by introducing acids & bases--topics they know from general chemistry--early, followed by chapters on structure and stereochemistry. Next, a discussion of ionic reactions gives students a foundation for the vast majority of reactions that they will encounter. The Ninth Edition continues to introduce IR spectroscopy in chapter 2 (after functional groups) and Carbon-13 NMR spectroscopy in chapter 4, providing synergy with most lab courses and, again, reinforcing learning.

The new edition of Solomons-Fryhle also has a completely revised WileyPLUS course to help students and instructors reach their full potential. WileyPLUS provides instructors with the most robust online homework solution in organic chemistry. This revision of WileyPLUS meets students where and when they learn and provides them with a learning platform that offers real learning solutions that complement their approach to managing and mastering organic concepts. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Good Transaction
Although I ordered this book as an old one, I have received itin a very good condition

2-0 out of 5 stars why????
This book was just fine for an intro course in Organic Chemistry. Why did the authors feel the need to come out with a new edition only 2 years later? To make the book more helpful for students?
It only ends up hurting us, the students, who cannot sell back their old books, for which they paid exorbitant amounts of money. Either make the books cheaper or stop coming out with new editions so frequently.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste paper, it's online
I don't know about other classes, but for my class I was required to sign up for "Wiley". Because I bought this book used it did not come with a free Wiley subscription and I therefor had to buy a [...] subscription to Wiley and when I log on what do I find? The whole book is available to me ONLINE! So not only did I not have to buy this book but because it is available online I can't even resell it for a good price seeing as it only goes for [...] used. As for how it teaches I liked the diagrams and I didn't find too much trouble when it came to actually reading it. However I cannot believe that I could have just used the online version (which I used most of the time any ways because my laptop is lighter than this book). So do you self a favor and just sign up for Wiley (eco-friendly online version) and either buy the answer books (answer not available through Wiley for some odd reason) or look on with a friend who has the answer book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Too many errors
Not even out of the first chapter and errors in units have been encountered (prob 20).I don't trust these people to teach me chemistry!!

1-0 out of 5 stars written review-mad
THIS ITEM WAS SUPPOSE TO GO TO MY SON IN PRISON AND WAS NEVER DELIVERED

1-0 out of 5 stars Error... Error.... Error
This Could be a good book IF the editor (or author) had taken a few minutes to proof read it for errors. There are content errors in the text (e.g "celsius temperature equals a Kelvin temperature plus 273 degrees"NOT... Kelvin equals Celsius plus 273.And the book is riddles with errors like this.A signficant number the the ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS are wrong... just flat out wrong. It looks to me like there is a lot of transpostion of information... c for K, etc.

Maybe that was the author's intent.Make so many errors that, as we are working through the book we have to double and triple check against other sources because we don't trust the answers in the book... either that or the author really is a Dummie.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great, except for the typos and errors
This book is great and fun, but there seem to be A LOT of mistakes when it comes to the Questions and Answers in each chapter.

In Chapter Three alone there are four glaring errors which make you first question your own sanity (ie. "I'm CERTAIN 2000 degrees Celsius equals 2273 Kelvin!") and then question what you're being taught in the book (ie. "2000 degrees Celsius IS 2273 Kelvin! Why are they telling me it's 1727K?!?!").

It makes me wonder what the proofreader was drinking when going through the text...

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Workbook Even if You are Not a Dummy
The best way to learn a subject, especially a subject with the reputation of difficulty that chemistry has, is to be engaged while learning. The quartet of authors (Mikulecky, Brutlag, Gilman, and Peterson)of this workbook have organized the material to keep the student actively involved while studying rather than reading a myriad of chemistry facts. I found this a super stand alone book for tutoring students having difficulties with chemistry. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Help
It's not "Cliff Notes for Chemistry" but it ties in well with the Zumdahl text.I have found it helpful and would recommend it as a reference source if you're taking a college general chemistry course with the Zumdahl text.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chemistry: Student Solutions Guide, Seventh Edition
This book is excellent for working through problems in regard to the text book. The odd numbered problems from the companion text book are answered in this answer book. What makes this book essential for study is that it goes further than just giving the answer as is provided in the companion text book. It shows how you arrive at the answer. All the math steps are provided.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay textbook
The book is full of valuable information. There are some nice diagrams on certain subjects. In particular covalent bonding has a good explanation with lots of great 3d pictures in the book. However this is not a good introductory chemistry book.I think that if you plan to use this book you should already have a general background in chemistry.Like many others have said in their reviews, this is a book written by chemists for chemists. Not a good book for the novice chemist.I am a pre-med student and this book is a good book to keep to review for the MCAT down the road.So if you already know a good deal about chemistry then this book is for you and will make a great reference for future classes.

Although, I was refunded on this product I was not satisfied with how the entire purchase was handled. After not receiving this item I inquired about it and the seller claimed they had mailed it to me,rather than admitting they forgot to mail it.Normally when you order something from Amazon they send you an email that they have shipped the item even when its a used item seller.I never received an email. It was important to obtain this study guide. I would not do business with someone so unreliable.
Amazon; however, continues to provide great customer service.

3-0 out of 5 stars Organic Chemistry Student study guide/solutions manuel by Smith
I received the Student Study Guide/Solutions Manuel to accompany Organic Chemistry 2nd edition by Janice Gorzynski Smith. This copy however was not an actual reproduction from the publisher McGraw Hill but rather a photo copy. It arrived in a poorly glued binder that I had to re-bind or else the pages would have started to fall out. The cost was reasonable however at 40.00.

2-0 out of 5 stars Book is good, seller is bad.
The product is very helpful if you're taking an organic chemistry class. The best way to learn in OChem is to try the problems in the book and learn from them.
The only thing I didn't like about this product was that it was sent to me PHOTOCOPIED and WAS NOT THE ACTUAL BOOK. I have seen the actual book, and this was not it. So, I am disappointed in that respect and have contacted the seller.
