5-0 out of 5 stars Nicely Done!
This is a very nicely done book really taking a practical look at how energy is used on your network. This is the first "benchmarking" book for energy worth a crap that I have read. Most of the "green" fluff out there today is loaded down with market so vendors can push their wares on your network. Hey, we all have mortgages to pay right? But come on man! I just read about energy efficient paper shredders that save you thousands a year...and it had the math to prove it! Here is the part and the question that is not being anaswered; "Where do those numbers come from and why?" As an engineer, I need a nice reference to level the playing field and bring everyone to the table. This book has successfully done just that.

I have interviewed Rob and John numerous times in the past for TechWiseTV and I have always been impressed with their honest desire to conserve energy and build the best network possible now matter who's gear you use. They took that same passion, common sense and applied it to this book. If you are burnt out on read "greening" pdfs from every vendor under the Sun and just want a honest and solid method for understanding the problem, designing a solution and being able to honestly report your before and after results, then this is the book for you. I highly recommend this to all networking geeks out there! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Timely Book-as-Plan to Survive Bad Economic Time of2009
For time-starved readers (including those who do not read many books) the news-you-can-use format of this book means you have the opportunity to immediately customize a personal plan to savor more moments in your day-to-day life by being more productive and doing "first things first" - recognizing the pitfalls that have prevented you from doing so in the past.

This skill is helpful anytime but especially valuable in a year that may be precarious for many of us.

Laura's upbeat, can-do and realistic approach reminds me of a friends who cares enough to help me be my better self

4-0 out of 5 stars A great book to start with when combating fatigue
Author and narrator Laura Stack speaks like a caring coach with an investment in making you feel energetic.Stack offers tons of helpful tips for combating the chronic exhaustion that plagues our modern day culture.Stack's book covers a wide array of "energy bandits" and is a helpful way to identify what exactly is contributing to exhaustion. She covers lots of the basics, such as sleep problems and diet concerns. But she also dives into more complex topics such as how our emotional lives, and destructive emotions, can lead to exhaustion. This book is a great place to start if you feel chronically fatigued. It will help you identify what exactly is draining your life energy.Stack's successfully uses easy to understand metaphors and images to help listeners visualize the concepts she discusses. The Exhaustion Cure is not meant to be a book on the clinical disease of chronic fatigue syndrome- an illness that usually cannot be solved with behavior modification alone.Nevertheless, stress always negatively contributes to chronic fatigue syndrome so Stack's suggestions are helpful for stress reduction in chronic fatigue patients.Stacks has the right level of enthusiasm to her voice. Her positive outlook and energetic reading of this book will inspire listeners to work on regaining their own life energy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid Research and Personal Experience—I'm Convinced!
Stack divides her advice into 21 key areas and discusses practices or attitudes that either suck the energy out of you (her "energy bandits") or prime the pump and get you going at peak performance (her "energy boosters"). Topics covered:Sleep habits, diet, nutrition, exercise, pacing (as in "hectic work pace"), health, relaxation, resolution and state of mind, responsibilities (as in "saying no"), time management, learning/creativity, your environment (i.e., lighting and stale air), relationships, stress--from spouse or traffic or the kids, technology, purpose, workplace.

In short, Stack's philosophy seems to be if you're exhausted all the time, anything and everything--including what's between your ears--could be the culprit.

After reading her book, I'm convinced.Solid research studies back up her claims, andpersonal examples from her family life make her advice practical. When you buy this book, expect to change more than a few bad habits.Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Exhaustion Cure is exactly what I was looking for!
The Exhaustion Cure is just the guidance I was looking for. Laura Stack makes it very easy to define what exactly is bringing down your energy level by the helpful introductory "energy drain and boosters" brainstorming list. This list allowed me to take the time to identify EXACTLY what the causes of my lack of energy are and how to renew that energy by using my "energy boosters"! Laura also provides a quiz at the beginning of the book to help identify your "total energy quotient", which I can personally say was no where near what I had expected! This quiz opened my eyes to the sort of denial I had been in with how much energy I was truly lacking.

Each chapter is clearly defined and easy to follow. Laura makes this book easy to pick up time and time again, almost as a workbook, to guide you through the processes of gaining more energy and a better quality of life.

I have been through my share of "self-help", "fitness" and "wellness" books and Laura Stack combines the characteristics of all three into one successful book that I will be using for many years to come.

I have become a fan of Stack's and recommend (in addition to The Exhaustion Cure) her book, "Find More Time", to anyone who seeks to become more productive in their personal lives and to enjoy the things in life that truly matter.

Find More Time: How to Get Things Done at Home, Organize Your Life, and Feel Great About It

2-0 out of 5 stars Nothing new here
Perhaps if someone has never read a women's magazine, this book may be a revelation. But, eat right, exercise, don't stress, declutter, get enough sleep....there's nothing new in that at all.

Tips on that level are the content of the book. I'd recommend browsing it at a bookstore, but unless someone has lived in a cave, there is nothing new here. ... Read more

Product Description
THERE IS NO MAGIC
IF THERE IS NO ENERGY

Magic is more than words, gestures and visualization. The definition of magic:" to bring about change in conformity to will" calls for change to be made in a situation. Change requires energy.

Energy in, Change out

Yes, you can input some energy through the burning of candles and incense, and the 'sacrifice' of other material forms, but the real foundation for magical success comes from the ability of the magician to channel energy from its ultimate source. That energy flows through the magician to be expressed and transformed guided by his focused intent.

This new book, Energy for Life, not only teaches the reader how to tap into the Universal Life Force but the accompanying audio CD enables the user to do so through expertly crafted guided meditation 'carried' into the user's deep unconscious by specially composed musical accompaniment.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth 20k Times Its Weight in Gold
As a professional comprehensive healing practitioner I have read hundreds upon hundreds of resources, always seeking out key elements and information written in layman's terms to share with clients, resources that help clients empower themselves. Let me tell you, they are hard to come by!

I bought Colleen Deatsman's book and read it cover to cover, then went through it again and applied every single exercise, meditation, etc., doing so from a client's point of view. Was this something I could easily and without reservation recommend to clients? Was this a resource the average person could read, understand, and apply with ease? Astoundingly, throughout the entire book, through each and every method shared by Colleen, the answer is an astounding "YES!" to every question. This is _the_ book I had been looking for. (My only complaint, and it's a small one, is the section on Energy Cord Cutting. Because of my work and research with energy cords, I have discovered that pulling and other non-cutting methods tend to be safer and more effective. - Sorry, Colleen! =p)

Because of the amazing benefits of applying Colleen's knowledge I have seen incredible results, with myself, and with clients. Numerous clients who have purchased this title have written or called afterward to tell me of their amazing results, especially when combined with treatment from an esoteric energy practitioner.

This has become the **number one book** (and CD) I recommend to clients, colleagues, family, and friends. "Energy for Life" is worth 20,000 times its weight in gold. It is a must-have resource for anyone in the healing arts, and for those simply looking for result-oriented methods they can easily apply themselves, in the comfort of their own homes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not what I expected
This is a book full of exercises dealing with energy, visualizations and so on. If that's what you were looking for, great; this is the book for you. But I was looking instead for a book not so "practical", but rather focusing on a better general management of your energy, so as to keep always in control of your energy level and prevent getting depleted when you are tired, or get suddenly angry, for instance.
I guess I will have to keep looking for that other book. Anyway, this book could be of help to you if what you are looking for is a daily exercise programto keep "fitness", energetically speaking.

5-0 out of 5 stars Energy for Life

"Energy for Life" is a very valuable resource for those of you looking for ways to activate your energy. So many of us are stressed out from having to figure out how to survive in today's world.

Colleen Deatsman teaches us how to thrive and not just survive. She brilliantly teaches what energy is, how to activate your own life-force energy, release blockages, stop energy leakages, and connect with the source of life.

I really appreciate how Collen takes some complex metaphysical concepts and can speak about them in a way that is easy to follow showing us how to work with energy on a day to day level in our lives.

I also appreciate her own journey as "a wounded healer". For she overcame chronic illness using the techniques she shares in her book. She knows the path that we must all walk on our healing journey.

I highly recommend this book to learn how to rejuvenate and heal. She also included a CD of guided meditations which are simple and relaxing to work with.

All in all "Energy for Life" is a gift for all of us living in today's world. It's well written, easy to follow, engaging and gives us practical ways to change our health as well as our lives.

5-0 out of 5 stars Big Thumbs Up
I am interested in energy work from a metaphysical standpoint but that should not stop anyone else who is interested in raising their energy levels and getting connected with their center core. One just needs an open mind not a religious affiliation or context to benefit from the information contained within.

The CD was amazing although I wish there were other mediations from the book that could have been added to the CD which would have made this package out of this world.

As with anything else, meditations differ from person to person, I tend to prefer the more concise practices rather than the drag me out 40 minute editions which one does not always have time for.Thank goodness of the 5 meditations only one was longer than 20 minutes and it turned out to be my least favorite anyway.

Overall this book and CD are worth the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars An amazing book.
An amazing explination of energy and how to stay connected and energized in our lives. One of the best written books on the subject I have ever seen.An absolute must for any healer, lightworker, shaman, or just anyone who wants to learn valuable techniques for taking control of your life and claiming all the power that is yours. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Pass the Energy, Please!
This is the best science book on the food chain that I have ever found.I fell in love with it and bought it for several peopleThis book tells very gently, using very pleasing language in rhyme, what everything needs to live and why.The illustrations are beautiful and detailed. It has some repetitive language that is so pleasing to read. For example:

"Passing the energy needed to live
is a difficult gift for a creature to give.
but a chain unbroken along the way
links life in the meadow from day to day."

This book would be wonderful in every classroom. A beautiful, must have book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Integration at it's BEST
What a book to use with your classroom.I am a fifth grade teacher and use this book as part of a unit on Ecosystems.(Although you could use this with younger or older children)The book shows food webs in a way that any child could understand. The text is a poem with a predictable rhythm that my students LOVE.We use this story for 4 different activities, two are Language arts based, and two are Science.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Educational Children's Book
I enjoyed how the author was able to bring a complicated subject to a level which both educates and interests young readers. Both my nephew andniece greatly enjoyed the book. They also retained the information whichis presented in "Pass the Energy Please" because it is presentedto the children in a creative way which neither bores nor confuses them. The author has found a great niche in her writing in which children canfinally be entertained while at the same time come away with an importantenvironmental concept. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Energy Basics - Surprisingly Comprehensive
I was expecting the usual hodge podge of alternative energy, but this book delves deeper into the meaning of energy, and the fundamental problems inherent in all energy processes. This is not a rah rah book, but a sober analysis of the problems facing alternative energy, along with realistic solutions.Realism will solve the green dilemma, not partisanship and wishful thinking.
Highly recommended if you want a comprehensive viewpoint of energy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Basics on Alternative Energy
As a 'green' thinker, I was looking for some ideas as to how to reduce my dependencies on the utilities and energy providers. I had some preconceived notions as to what was available, but really did not know the advantages or disadvantages of the choices.

The author does a great job producing content that can be scanned for items of interest without requiring that you read the book cover to cover. Each of the alternative energy options are explored, with pros and cons, estimated pricing options, and a good comparitive summary.

1-0 out of 5 stars Required an Editor
The book is very sloppy in both content and style. There were paragraphs that I had to read seven or eight times to try and figure out what part of the message the author left out. There are "facts" included in the text that don't even pass the giggle test.It appears there are many key words that are missing, little clues that might indicate a number represents "millions" of tons, and not tons.Of course the correct answer might be "billions", the text offers no clue.

The author begins the book by stating that he will be "neutral" on the issue of anthropogenic global warming, and then throughout the book takes every opportunity to link alternative energy to AGW -- focusing on carbon emissions, which he always refers to as "greehouse gases".

I love the DUMMIES series, and have well over a dozen in my library. This is the first one that really disappointed me.A decent editor with knowledge of the subject could have fixed it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Alternate energy
This is a very informative book. I may not do much of it but any energy savings is good for me and the planet.

3-0 out of 5 stars Easy Reading Low Level Descriptions of Alternative Energy
I am a professional engineer with degrees in mechanical and nuclear engineering. I specialize in energy systems for building heating, cooling, and lighting. I have forty years of work experience. This book with twenty-three chapters and 362 pages covers pretty much the full range of alternative energy options that are commercially available or nearly so for consumers. The technical level seems to me about what one would expect for articles in Parade, the Sunday newspaper supplement. Diagrams are few and very simple. (There is nothing wrong with writing for this level of reader.)

Certainly a qualitative discussion of how alternative systems work and what advantages they bring is helpful, but even an interested high school physics student would be looking for more technical content. The book's cover has as the first objective learning to "evaluate the various forms of alternative energy," but evaluation (a comparison of alternatives for example) requires thermodynamic and other technical facts and energy and system cost data far beyond those presented in this book.

After reading this book you will be able to describe in general terms (but certainly not engineering terms) the various alternatives; but you will have little basis for comparisons and selections.

The book has many technical mistakes. For example, the book states, "According to Carnot's law, these smaller power generating machines can never achieve the efficiencies of the massive power plants..." He is speaking here of the Carnot thermodynamic cycle; but that "law" says nothing at all about the size of the system. Carnot (French engineer, 1796 - 1832) found that the theoretical efficiency of an engine operating on the Carnot thermodynamic cycle depends only on the temperatures of the hot and cold reservoirs.

Describing a nuclear reactor the books says, "so there is a need to constantly keep feeding in new uranium material in order to keep the consistent, steady flow of energy that is desired from a nuclear reactor." Nuclear reactors powering electrical generating stations or naval vessels control the power output by raising and lowering neutron-absorbing control rods. New nuclear material is added only during refueling, which take place every year or two while the reactor is shut down.

The book states that steam is produced in a nuclear power plant in "the boiler (this is similar to the boilers used for fossil fuels.) The steam in a nuclear plant is produced in a steam generator that is far different in design than a fossil fuel boiler.

The book states, "Some reactors don't allow the water to boil; they keep it under high pressure and use that pressure to spin the turbine." In every common reactor system, the water that cools the reactor in the end produces steam. For example high pressure water that goes through the reactor in a pressurized water reactor turns lower pressure water in a separate circuit into steam in the steam generator, which is just a big water to water heat exchanger. All turbines that drive generators in reactor plants are steam turbines.

All of us must start with simple descriptions of new things. But one can not stop there if one wants to make accurate decisions. It is not common sense or higher moral values that drive innovation, but rigorous and often difficult engineering together with a knowledge of the economics of energy markets and knowledge of systems installation costs and operating costs.

Everytime I'm at the bookstore, I spot all these books about mysterious energies people can tap into. It's all gibberish fairytales.People should look at themselves first and foremost. Are you getting enough sleep, nutrition and exercise?if the answer is no to any of those then you will always be low on energy.Create a ballance between eating, exercisingand rest and you will have enough energy to do whatever you want to do. Take care of your health and it will take care of you. Ignore all these mysterious things because everything you need comes from the inside. Ignore these gibberish books from shady authors who are not in touch with reality.

5-0 out of 5 stars Energy healing has worked for me- an authoritative book
I have bought many different energy based books, and used different energy based techniques, with great results.

Quantum Touch taught me the importance of breath and how to move energy, and the principles of resonance and entrainment.EFT taught me how to release negative emotions within two minutes by tapping on specific energy points. Reiki taught me the importance of healing touch, and using Universal Life Force energy effortlessly.Matrix Energetics taught me the importance of intention, and active imagination. I could go on, Qigong, Reiki, Touch of healing, Yoga, Tibetans, Huna..

So, imagine how gratifying it is to finally read a book by a mainstream psychotherapist, who uses energy testing, and affirmation, and intention as part of the healing process. The energy practice in this book is Kinesiology discovered by Dr George Goodheart.

Here we have a book which offers a complete energy system overview, and shows the connection between energy, emotions, and intention, and how your 12 Meridian Channels are tied to specific emotions, and specific organs. Because most of what goes on inside us is unconscious, it can be difficult to even discover what the problem may be, but energy testing a specific intention, can show which organ is affected, and a simple affirmation or intention shift can cause you to test strong.

In this book your Thymus is the master switch for your energy system. If someone's heart tests weak, this is connected to the emotion of anger.Sadness, fear, guilt, anger, and depression are connected to different organs.A series of simple tests and affirmations can bring everything back into balance.

This is definitely one of the best books I have read on Energy Medicine, if not the best.

If you are new to energy medicine, I recommend you get the The Energy Medicine Kit by Donna Eden, which shows the testing being demonstrated, energy zipups and more advanced techniques, including a five minute daily routine, and Quantum-Touch: The Power to Heal (Third Edition) by Richard Gordon.

The EFT Manual (EFT: Emotional Freedom Techniques) is a simple tapping process useful for letting go of troubling emotions.Imagine easily letting go of issues such as anger, anxiety, fear, forgiveness, stress, procrastination, traumas. You can download a free manual at [...], and buy various books on Amazon.

I wonder if this review was helpful.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical, thought-provoking, inspiring
This book has been essential for me in developing a concept of the healing force in myself and in everybody -- Life Energy, as the title succinctly puts it -- and how this force can be activated. The specific details about our emotions -- and how they relate to the acupuncture system -- are fascinating. I particularly find helpful and thought-provoking Dr. Diamond's use of etymology (the origins of words) in pinpointing and evoking emotional states. The many photographs and humorous or touching anecdotes -- all these contribute to this highly readable, very therapeutic volume. I find Dr. Diamond's affirmations and the acupuncture points, which are clearly illustrated, wonderfully helpful in creating a daily routine for health and happiness. I have gone on to read many other books by Dr. Diamond, but this one remains basic and essential. I highly reccomend this book. ... Read more

Product Description
The availability of clean, renewable power is without question going to be the defining challenge and goal of the 21st century, and wind will lead the way.

Internationally acclaimed wind energy expert Paul Gipe is as soberly critical of past energy mistakes as he is convincingly optimistic about the future. The overwhelming challenge of transforming our world from one of fossil carbon to one of clean power seems daunting at best—and paralyzingly impractical at worst. Wind Energy Basics offers a solution.

Wind power can realistically not only replace the lion’s share of oil-, coal-, and naturalgas– fired electrical plants in the U.S., but also can add enough extra power capacity to allow for most of the cars in the nation to run on electricity. Gipe explains why such a startlingly straightforward solution is eminently doable and can be accomplished much sooner than previously thought—and will have the capacity to resuscitate small and regional economies.

Wind Energy Basics offers a how-to for home-based wind applications, with advice on which wind turbines to choose and which to avoid. He guides wind-energy installers through considerations such as renewable investment strategies and gives cautionary tales of wind applications gone wrong. And for the activist, he suggests methods of prodding federal, state, and provincial governments to promote energy independence.

As the title reveals, this is a Basic introduction without too many technical details of how a homeowner or small business / estate can go about 'getting off the grid', with many examples of who has done it, how they do it, and how they profit from it.

Knowledge is power, so empower yourself by reading this and spreading the power of wind !

5-0 out of 5 stars Superb book for Wind Power Basics and Public Policy
Paul has well captured the basics of wind power in an easy and understandable way.The book is a delight to read. What I didn't expect and have not read before is Paul's excellent commentary on wind power public policy.Europeans tend to build community based wind whereas Americans build corporate based wind. This means that in Europe, individuals tend to benefit financially from wind whereas as in the America, corporations tend to benefit. Very interesting stuff here. Also, public policy is very different as well, with feed-in tariffs being popular in Europe and the USA tending to supply money up front to build projects (a big mistake).Additionally, anyone considering vertical axis wind mills or ducted fan based windmills might want to read what Paul has to say first.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
An interesting book, just not what I expected.Thought it would give me information about how to select a wind turbine and it is all about telling you to invest in a commercial size unit rather than a household size unit. Not much information about starting an LLC or raising millions either.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good introduction to wind energy
Paul Gipe is not only a leading authority on wind energy but he is an exceptional teacher. This second edition of Wind Energy Basics covers most of the current models of wind turbines on the consumer and commercial market as of 2009. The book is an excellent introduction to wind energy that will serve both potential wind turbine buyers and those interested in wind energy well. There is some math involved but nothing over basic high school algebra and it is kept to a minimum. This is a great, inexpensive way to learn about wind turbines. If you are more interested in design and want more in depth analysis, Paul's other book, "Wind Energy", is an excellent choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect pick for any lending library
The availability of clean, renewable energy is the world's modern challenge and wind-energy expert Paul Gipe predicts wind will lead the way. His second revised, expanded edition of a classic primer offers homeowners and consumers insights on wind energy, from applications to political and social policies, and includes a new section on the concept of 'community wind'. Charts and color photos pepper a user-friendly introduction to all aspects of wind energy, making it the perfect pick for any lending library. ... Read more

I got the exact book I was looking for. Also, it was shipped quickly which was perfect because I needed it for a class that had already started.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Textbook
I've been teaching at a community college for 16 years in the field of energy efficiency, Passive solar, building science, healthy homes, sustainability, green issues.I have used thisbook and its earlier versions in my classes because it gives the best science basis for energy. It is also written by a physics professor as a textbook, with review and questions at the end of each chapter.

This book shows the "systems efficiency" of energy sources, which is the correct way to examine any proposed alternative energy. This is the way many of these topics is presented in other books.I like the book also because it starts at the beginning--physics--in the discussion of energy.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, but not excellant...
This pertains to the 4th edition (published 2005). The material is solid and informative, but the photos are all black and white. I find this unacceptable in the twenty first century. Additionally, many of the photos are of very poor quality.

4-0 out of 5 stars solid intro to energy
Energy provides comprehensive information on basic energy principles, electricity, fossil energy resources, nuclear power, renewable energy resources, energy conservation, and the impacts of energy use on the environment. While it contains all the requisite equations and problemsets, the concise, clear coverage of the environmental and policy issuessurrounding our energy use really distinguishes this book from other energytexts. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Really useful book
If you're a beginner or someone with more experience, this is the "one book" to purchase in the area of energy and sustainability.Useful, practical content at a level that allows you to refresh or build on your knowledge in the area.

4-0 out of 5 stars Extremely useful reference, if a bit dated
I've been working in the energy field for the past few years, and this is one of the few references I've found that describes all of our energy options with real depth.Information is well organized and systematically laid out.The book is, as others have pointed out, unfortunately already outdated.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dated, horrible mess of a book
This just goes to show that even though you might have a dozen authors from MIT, they still can't manage to write a coherent, readable book. The organization of the book is horrible, with hardly any sub-sections and massive blocks of text--this makes it almost impossible to find the information you're looking for without digging through the index. The ordering of the chapters is haphazard and they range in quality from extremely basic to completely esoteric. I would strongly recommend against using this book if at all possible, as there are better written, more contemporary works available that address this subject.

Product Description
Energy security has become a rallying cry in recent years, especially in the wake of increased terrorist threats in the Middle East and elsewhere. But what does the term energy security really mean? For many it is ensuring the safe supply and transport of energy as a matter of national security. For others, it is developing and moving toward sustainable, low-carbon energy sources to avoid environmental catastrophe. Still others view it as increasing oil drilling to achieve independence from foreign markets and ensure affordability.

Yet the fact remains that the vast majority of global energy production still comes from fossil fuels, and it will take a thorough understanding of the interrelationships of complex challenges&#151finite supply, environmental concerns, political conflict, and economic volatility&#151to develop policies that will lead to true energy security.

This volume presents a realistic, cross-disciplinary look by recognized authorities at the global quest for energy security. While each nation faces different geopolitical, economic, and environmental challenges, the prescriptions offered here could well lead us in the right direction.

Product Description
Energy is at the heart of physics (and of huge importance to society) and yet no book exists specifically to explain it, and in simple terms. In tracking the history of energy, this book is filled with the thrill of the chase, the mystery of smoke and mirrors, and presents a fascinating human-interest story. Following the history provides a crucial aid to understanding: this book explains the intellectual revolutions required to comprehend energy, revolutions as profound as those stemming from Relativity and Quantum Theory. Texts by Descartes, Leibniz, Bernoulli, d'Alembert, Lagrange, Hamilton, Boltzmann, Clausius, Carnot and others are made accessible, and the engines of Watt and Joule are explained.

Many fascinating questions are covered, including:

- Why just kinetic and potential energies - is one more fundamental than the other?
- What are heat, temperature and action?
- What is the Hamiltonian?
- What have engines to do with physics?
- Why did the steam-engine evolve only in England?
- Why S=klogW works and why temperature is IT.

Using only a minimum of mathematics, this book explains the emergence of the modern concept of energy, in all its forms: Hamilton's mechanics and how it shaped twentieth-century physics, and the meaning of kinetic energy, potential energy, temperature, action, and entropy. It is as much an explanation of fundamental physics as a history of the fascinating discoveries that lie behind our knowledge today. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth reading
'Energy- the subtle concept' is a thoroughly enjoyable and illuminating read.

It brings together the personalities who shaped the concept, and the physical processes and systems that underlay it, in a well told tale of discovery, disputes, blind alleys, rivalry and genius.

Coopersmith weaves biographical detail, historical context, philosophical commentary, experimental evidence and physical interpretation into a cleverly structured narrative that will appeal to both the scientist and the historian.

Sometimes the chronological thread is broken to follow physical concepts in more detail, sometimes the excitement of continuing with a good story is allowed to take precedence. However the author always brings the threads together into a coherent description of the systems and processes which were being uncovered, understood and eventually combined into our modern concept of energy.

Whilst 'Energy' can be enjoyed by anybody with an interest in science it lifts itself above a popular account by introducing mathematics where it's appropriate, but always firmly underpinned with a physical interpretation, and in a way that can be passed over without detracting from the story.

The contribution of the great pioneering steam engineers is not neglected, and after the major classical elements of heat and energy have been set in the context of internal molecular motion, the book concludes with the modern recognition of radiation and mass as other forms of energy.

'Energy' should find a ready place on the 'background reading' list for an undergraduate science or engineering course in thermodynamics, as well as on the History or Science shelves of the high street bookshop.

I've rated this book as 5. I'd like to encourage authors and publishers to produce more books at this level of readability, scholarship and, simply, interest.

I consider it a sign of a book worth reading (scientific or literary) where, after a while, something lights up in the mind and one goes back to re-read a section and says 'ah, yes, now I see'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Energy the subtle concept
I found this to be an EXCELLENTbook.I was hoping to encounter scholarship , erudition and insight and I did. What was unexpected was how much I enjoyed reading the book. It is written in a style reminiscent of a wise professor giving a tutorial to a small group of bright students. The approach is basically Socratic and, every now and then, there is a fleeting glimpse of a dry sense of humor.

Mathematics has been kept to a minimum. This is a strength, not a weakness of the book.Formalisms such as thermodynamics and quantum mechanics are wonderful for computing results for specific problems but they provide no insight into what's going on.The main raison d'etre of Dr. Coopersmith's book is to try to correct this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well Reasoned Primer on How to Curb Our Energy Appetite
Tertzakian sensitized us to our enormous energy appetite (western world) in A Thousand Barrels a Second (what a title!). He introduced in that work, the concept of energy break points. Historical periods when mankind has experienced disruptive events forcing a change in how energy is used (burned up all the wood, had to move to coal). Now, in Energy Obesity, he lays out two fundamental energy principles. The First Principle of Energy Consumption simply holds that throughout our history, improved quality of life has been directly related to greater energy consumption. The Assymetry Principle takes what is traditionally considered an energy problem, the efficiency losses from source of production to point of consumption, and stands it on its head. He makes the case that for each barrel of oil equivalent we don't have to consume (by making more intelligent choices about our energy consumption and maximizing technology), we save six or more barrels from having to be produced, with all the environmental savings that go along with that. An incredibly powerful way of looking at the benefits of energy conservation - which many agree is key to a sustainable future (in conjunction with technologial innovation). It is this need for conservation (reduction in wastemaking) that is referred to as the Third Commandment of the Human Revolution in The Vanishing of a Species? - another study of mankind's material demands on planet earth and how to curb them to provide a chance at a sustainable future.

Tertzakian has an interesting writing style, sprinkling personal observations and anecdotes throughout the scientific material used to make his case. An easy read, and one that presents a hopeful view of the future in the face of significant challenges facing us over the next few decades in terms of our energy appetite. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hallelujah!
The most important energy development in tha past five years has been the new technology that provides the economic release of enormous amounts of natural gas - all over the world. Finally, a book has been written that clearly points its importance and the impact it will have on the so many energy sources that are doomed for failure. I hope the politicians will take notice.

5-0 out of 5 stars A pick for both college and general lending collections
Peter Tertzakian works with Keith Hollihan in THE END OF ENERGY OBESITY, exploring solutions to the problem of a widening appetite for energy and showing how to change the fuel diet for a better future. His focus on practical options and immediate applications makes for a comprehensive survey key to any serious understanding of energy usage and alternatives: a pick for both college and general lending collections.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally : a sensible approach
Finally, a book that offers a really sensible approach to dealing with the world's energy problems: stop just focusing on new sources of supply and start looking for ways to decrease demand! Many may react to this book's proposal in the same of knee-jerk manner and suppose that any reduction in energy demand, i.e. consumption, is always going to reverse economic growth. And it's in part because of this attitude that we're forced to dig for oil and gas in the most inhospitable corners of the planet. The belief that we must "supply" ourselves out of our energy problems comes from "The First Principle of Energy Consumption". The book describes this as the rule that if energy consumption goes up so too does GDP and human comfort levels. But the book shows that this rule can be broken. To no surprise, it talks about energy conservation and improving efficiency. But what I didn't expect in the book was talk about the trend toward "virtualization" and how this is the real game changer in the energy sector. Slowly but surely, the way that people live, work and play is changing because of rapidly evolving communication technology. It all started with the telephone and telegraph, but today the platform of our long distance interaction with others is shifting over to Skype, videoconferencing and telepresence- to name a few of these new technologies. Transportation is the big glutton in energy demand and so much of it-from daily commutes to business travel- is being made redundant. The long and short of the book's message is that we can free ourselves from the belief in the connection between prosperity and energy demand growth. We can become economically more productive while burning less and less fuel if we start taking advantage of these communication tools. It's a straightforward and optimistic message.

4-0 out of 5 stars The title got me.
As a Western Canadian living near the Athabasca tar sands I'm very concerned about the impacts of the energy sector (i.e oil industry) activity on the environment. I picked up a copy of The End of Energy Obesity because of the optimistic-sounding title. Canadians, Americans and other developed nations are consuming energy at an unsustainable rate. The developing world is striving to emulate our very energy inefficient lifestyle. I'm skeptical about the author's belief that we can grow our economies indefinitely, while at the same time reducing our "energy appetite", but at least he supports his ideas with plausible arguments. The key appears to lie in changing transportation behavior, which includes the way in which wealthy (i.e. "energy obese") societies rely on huge amounts of fossil fuel for the daily suburban commutes and transglobe business trips of its citizens. The book describes how the information revolution causes the need for much of this transportation to fall to the wayside as new-fangled communication tools make online collaborative work ever easier. The social implications of this Brave New World with its threat of ever-deepening social isolation is a little frightening, but the benefits of"energy fittness" to our global environment outweigh the dangers of one collapsing from an "energy cardiac arrest".Interesting ideas. ... Product Description
In this compelling argument for a new direction in US energy policy, world-renowned engineer and best-selling author Robert Zubrin lays out a bold plan for breaking the economic stranglehold that the OPEC oil cartel has on our country and the world. Zubrin presents persuasive evidence that our decades-long relationship with OPEC has resulted in the looting of our economy, the corruption of our political system, and now the funding and protection of terrorist regimes and movements that are committed to our destruction. Debunking the false solutions and myths that have deterred us from taking necessary action, Zubrin exposes the fakery that has allowed many politicians - including current US president George W Bush - to posture that they are acting to resolve this problem while actually doing nothing significant toward that goal. Zubrin's plan is straightforward and practical. He argues that if Congress passed a law requiring that all new cars sold in the USA be flex-fueled - that is, able to run on any combination of gasoline or alcohol fuels - this one action would destroy the monopoly that the oil cartel has maintained on the globe's transportation fuel supply, opening it up to competition from alcohol fuels produced by farmers world-wide. According to Zubrin's estimates, within three years of enactment, such a regulation would put 50 million cars on the road in the USA capable of running on high-alcohol fuels, and at least an equal number overseas. This book shows how we could be using fuel dollars that are now being sent to countries with ties to terrorism to help farmers here and abroad, boosting our own economy and funding world development. Furthermore, by switching to alcohol fuels, which pollute less than gasoline and are made from plants that draw carbon dioxide from the air, this plan will facilitate the world-wide economic growth required to eliminate global poverty without the fear of greenhouse warming."Energy Victory" offers an exciting vision for a dynamic, new energy policy, which will go a long way toward safeguarding homeland security in the future and provide solutions for global warming and Third World development. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Energy Victory
It is a little technical in parts but those parts can be browsed and you can get a good idea of the authors point of view. I plan to do a little more research and ifI can confirm the data behind his point of view I will write ny congressman in support of his energy policy

5-0 out of 5 stars Zubrin enlightens again. Fantastic book
Dr Robert Zubrin does it again. Another great book. Robert doesn't hold any punches and shows why the Saudis and the royal family are murderous thugs using oil and control of OPEC to support world wide terrorism.

First thank you Robert for debunking using hydrogen as a fuel. I didn't know that it takes more energy using electrolysis of water to produce hydrogen and oxygen than the energy that can be obtained from hydrogen. I was a big hydrogen fan. Plus Robert debunks the infrastructure that would be required to sell, create, store and move massive amounts of hydrogen US wide for supplying cars and trucks. It wont work. Taught me a lot on that.

Robert explains why conservation by driving less and using smaller cars will not stop OPEC control of oil prices.

Robert shows how the Saudis are supporting massive world wide terrorism using oil profits and how they pay off US government officials to get what they want. Robert names names of those on the take on Carlyle Group boards getting money influenced by the Saudis.

Dr Zubrin shows how flex fuel cars are the way to go to destroy OPEC. YES I said to destroy OPECso it cant raise its ugly head again to control oil prices and support terrorism.

Sorry Robert even with all the info you give onsupport of corn production for ethanol I can't agree with you pushing as much corn production for ethanol as possible. I know too many farmers (right next to me) that are growing as much corn for ethanol as they can. Water tables way down. Little water for anything else but corn growing for ethanol. Prices for corn for human consumptionand animal feed has gone up drastically because of this. A smaller amount of corn growing for ethanol production would be better as US farmers are going overboard selling corn for ethanol. Maybe growing different crops that don't need as much water and raising the price for human and livestock food would be better for ethanol production.

However I can really support worldwide methanol production to use as a flex fuel in cars/trucks along with biomass energy production and bio diesel. Hey race car teams have been using methanol for years plus its safer too. Robert shows a women helped produce amethanol using car for Detroit car manufactures. It worked well and some methanol using cars were sold. Dr. Zubrin makes a compelling case for MANDATORY 100% flex fuel cars. All government officials should read Energy Victory and have a conscience and stop taking bribes and pay offs from the Saudis and make flex fuel cars 100% mandatory to help destroy OPEC grip on controlling oil prices forever.

Also lets start creating jobs in wind, solar, geothermal, natural gas, hydroelectric, CLEAN burning coal technology, and nuclear( as long as much better standards created for storage/disposal of spent fuel) tohelp get American off imported oil.

As Dr. Zubrin shows we are at the " break even" phase of fusion research. More jobs and money needed in fusion research to get us up to the "detonation phase" of the reaction where the reaction is able to sustain itself. This will allow future generations to have almost unlimited power for millions of years.

Right now drill baby drill. Lets have massive new oil and natural gas exploration in Alaska ,off California and Florida coasts, Texas and everywhere and bring this oiland natural gas finds to the US market.

In conclusion Energy Victory is a great book.Buy it! I wish government officials would read it and take note.

1-0 out of 5 stars Way Off Base -
America is losing the 'War on Terror.' Saudi Arabia is the primary global financier of the Islamic terror cult - in 1972 its foreign exchange earnings were $2.7 billion, in 2006 they topped $200 billion. Over the same period our annual oil import bill grew from less than $4 billion to over $260 billion. Zubrin concludes we're being looted to finance a war against ourselves. Victory requires mandating all new cars in the U.S. be flex-fueled. Instead of buying arms for our enemies we could be selling tractors to Africa, etc.

Hydrogen is not the answer. When made by electrolysis, the process yields 85 units of hydrogen energy for every 100 units of electrical energy used. (There are also problems transporting hydrogen and establishing dispensing locations.) Zubrin also points out that a car that runs on compressed methane will be able to travel 3X as far as the same car on hydrogen stored in the same space. In addition, the methane would be cheaper.

'Conservation through gasoline efficiency is a losing strategy' for achieving energy independence. (However, it certainly would help.) The 'key issue in energy independence concerns the availability of liquid fuels' to power transportation. (Those focused on battery-assisted cars would take20issue with this.) Zubin proposes to take the world off the petroleum standard and put it on the alcohol standard.

However, there's a major problem with Zubin's recommendation, probably best put forward by Michael Rupert in his "A Presidential Energy Policy." Rupert tells us that it takes almost as much energy, if not more, to produce fuel from plant matter. (Confirmed by a college associate with a PhD. in Chemistry.) Meanwhile food prices and world hunger are rising as a result of biofuel programs. Further, the U.S. has no remaining grain reserves. Our biofuel goals are propped up by a federal 51 cent subsidy/gallon and a 54 cent/gallon tariff on ethanol imports. Bush II's goal of 15% gasoline replaced by biofuels would require the entire U.S. corn crop (40% of the world's supply). Further, about as much energy is used to create fertilizer as used to operate machines in the field and transport the product.

As for sugar cane, American farmers receive a subsidy for that crop, most successfully grown in Brazil. Substantially increasing its growth would require massive rainforest destruction.

Oops!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm a Brazilian unemployed agronomist
I read this very good book, here in Brazil. I'm a Brazilian agronomist unemployed and I like to read books, about energy and biofuels.
This author of this book, Robert Zubrin, is an American NASA's aerospace engineer and author, best known for his advocacy of manned Mars exploration.
I'll show a dozen of excellents parts of this book:
1-Page 8: "OPEC has made their future clear; it will consist of repeated cyclic binges of vicious looting followed by recession, with each raid transferring further large increments of wealth and power to the cartel, and the reactionary Islamits and other totalitarians that stand behind it."
2-Page 9: "Since the time of the 1973 oil embargo, when OPEC first demonstrated its malevolence, America's leaders have repeatedly declared their commitment to achieve energy security but have accomplished nothing. There is not that much time left. We do not have another three decades to waste. Each looting cycle makes the enemy stronger and ever positioned to confound our efforts to scape."
3-Page 23:"As a method of achieving energy indepence, conservation throught gasoline efficiency is a losing stategy. It is like trying to use buckets to bail out a ship whose bottom has been rippen open."
4-Page 31:"If we are to win the critical energy battle, there's only way to do it. We must take ourselves - and the rest of the world - off the petroleum standard. Only by doing this can we destroy the economic power of our enenies at its very foundations. Only in this way can we transfer control of the future from those who take their wealth, premade, from the ground, to those who make their wealth through hard work, skill, and creativity (and thus must build free societies that maximize the human potential of every citizen)."
5-Page 34:"In point of fact, the Saudi ruling family has direct responsibility for promoting terrorism against the United States and many other nations."
6-Page 47:"The Taliban movement was a Saudi project."
7-Page 65:"The most egregious piece of pro-Sudi fecklessness of the American political class, however, has been its failure to enact a competent energy policy to stop the Arabian looting of our nation."
8-Page 188:"A thousand years ago, oat and barley were grown in Iceland."
9-Page 194:"Studies done at Oak Ridge National Lab on forest trees have shown that increasing the carbon dixide level 50 percent higher, to the 550 ppm level projected to prevail at the end of the twenty-first century will likely increase photosynthetic productivity a further 24 percent."
10-Page 246:"The issue at stake in energy security is not a matter of whether the price of gasoline will be $2 per gallon or $3 per gallon; it is who will determine the human future."
11-Page 254:"For Christians, human are children of God. for Islamits, as for the Marduk-Baal cult, they are slaves of God. As such, they are also slaves of the master that Allah has chosen to place above them. This view makes democracy and human rights impossible. It also makes social progress impossible, because it denies the legitimacy of any reasoned critique of traditional arragements. It also makes peaceful coexistence with free non-Muslins impossible, because it denies their right to exist."
12-Page 269:"However, according to the Merril Lynch data, the price of oil would be about 15 higher were it not for biofuels, which comes to a savings of about $18 per barrel at current oil prices."
This book was writen by a NASA's aerospace engineer. He did a very good work, but as an agronomist, I must tell somemistakes of this book:
1-On page 25, the tells that USA has the biggest potential for ethanol and methanol. In fact, Brazil has more than the doble of the American potential for ethanol and methanol.
2-On page 98, the author tells that cellulose has the formula C4H6O3. In fact, the cellulose's formula is C6H12O6.
3-On page 53, the author tells that water hyacinth would be a good source for methanol. Nonsense. Water hyacinth is about 95% water and is a good source of biogas, not ethanol.
4-On page 162, the author tells that Brazil since XVII is the world's leader in sugarcane production. In fact, in 1955, Cuba was producing more sugarcane than Brazil and also India was ahead of Brazil in sugarcane production. Since 1970 decade Brazilian production of sugarcane is bigger than Cuban and Indian production combined, but this is about 30 years old, not since XVII Century.
5-On page 205, the author gives an absurd and low number for the deaths in Chernobyl disaster.
Even with these mistakes above, I must give 5 stars for this book, because it is the best book I ever read about American energy future. If I gave four stars for the book "The End of Oil" by Paul Roberts, I have to be just and give five stars for this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Evil Genius - Solar
I would recomend this book to anyone wanting to get a start in learnig about solar energy.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very simplistic.Extremely disappointed.
This is a good book for a 10 year old maybe. Was expecting some neat, unconventional uses for solar energy based on the title, but this was just a collection of things such as distilling water with saran wrap and the like.Very disappointed.

1-0 out of 5 stars You can get the information in the book online for free
You can get the information in the book online for free..
* Black and white photos
* Phases of work you need further clarification
*Book gives an overview of the project .

3-0 out of 5 stars Fun, but scant on details
I was disappointed in this book. It's hard to tell who the book is aimed at - an electronics buff or a middle school science teacher. There is almost enough information to complete many of the simpler projects, but not enough to tackle the more interesting ones. And some of the projects have no directions at all!

I would buy this book if I wanted to get inspired and play around with some simple projects, but if I were interested in constructing a photovoltaic system or a solar hot water heater, I would find another book. The book, Green Energy Projects for the Evil Genius, has more complete directions for more interesting solar projects that this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of Solar Experiments
I learned new things about solar energy. Did you know the sun does not rise in the east or even south of east in the continental USA? I thought it did, knowing we are north of the tropic of cancer and even at June solstice high noon the sun still is slightly south of me.
It rises in the northeast in the morning swings south of vertical at noon and arcs into a sunset in the northwest!
The projects are not fully explained at times and well explained at others, so I could not rate it a 5 star. ... Read more

Product Description
Maynard Murray was a medical doctor who researched the crucial importance of minerals - especially trace elements - to plants and animals. Beginning in 1938 and continuing through the 1950s, Dr. Murray used sea solids - mineral salts remaining after water is evaporated from ocean water - as fertilizer on a variety of vegetables, fruits and grains. His extensive experiments demonstrated repeatedly and conclusively that plants fertilized with sea solids and animals fed sea-solid-fertilized feeds grow stronger and more resistant to disease.

Sea Energy Agriculture recounts Murray's experiments and presents his astounding conclusions. The work of this eco-pioneer was largely ignored during his lifetime, and his book became a lost classic - out-of-print for more than 25 years. Now this rare volume is once again available, with a new foreward and afterword by the founder of Acres U.S.A., Charles Walters. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Practical Healing How-To
I really enjoyed this book.Michael Bradford explains exactly how to use your hands to develop the ability to heal.I tried many of the exercises he described and found most to be useful. He is very encouraging about getting started and improving with time.He also describes how to work with a partner and a willing test subject.Good stuff.I recommend this book if you are interested in adding to your knowledge and to give you a nudge to try out healing.

I must relay one incredible spiritual experience. In doing one of his exercises I felt some energy flowing.I then heard a clear voice in my head saying "There is so much more".I get chills thinking about it.I had been worrying about something and agonizing over it.Hearing a voice say "There is so much more"was very uplifting and moved me to a much better place.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful book.
This book covers how Reiki in used in a number of different settings and has many useful ways of thinking that has inspired me to use Reiki. It tells many stories of how useful Reiki has been for a number of people and how Reiki is becoming more and more helpful with healing peoples' health issues.

3-0 out of 5 stars review
Book was pretty good and had a lot of optimistic visions for the future of reiki integrating with western medicine.Makes me want to read more about reiki.

3-0 out of 5 stars If you are attracted to this book, buy it.
This book is an easy read.It is not a detailed instruction manual on Reiki, in fact it doesn't give too much information away at all.The book talks about what Reiki is and, what surprised me, is how much the practice is utilized in human medicine, hospice etc...I had no idea how main stream the practice has become. The book packed with anecdotal support for the healing benefits of Reiki. The contents are well organized and she makes her points quickly.I picked up the book because I was taking Libby Barnett's Reiki level 1 and 2 courses and wanted to familiarize myself with her and her book.If you need further convincing that Reiki has a place in human medicine and supportive care pick up this book. After taking her course I'll be using Reiki on my small animal patients.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent book for health professionals and everyone
Reiki is a form of Energy Medicine. The Japanese compound word Reiki means Universal Energy and is equivalent to the Chi of Chinese and the Prana of Indians. In this book, "Reiki Energy Medicine Bringing Healing Touch into Home, Hospital and Hospice", the authors Libby Barnett and Maggie Chambers, Reiki Masters, give us a number of areas where the Reiki healing touch can be applied with advantage. They give a good number of case studies and examples from their extensive health-related professional experience spread over years. Libby is a Medical Social Worker and Maggie is an artist who works with handicapped children. Both found Reiki to be useful in a number of situations. In collaboration with Susan Davidson, who helped the book to be edited into a highly readable account of Reiki, they succeed in getting the message through that Reiki as an adjunt to all other medical systems can improve the healing process effectively. Reiki is intelligent and it is the receipient who receives as much or as little as one needs and uses it for the highest good. Thus, it is not to be construed as a panacea, but it should be offered with unconditional love. I especially liked their comment that Reiki is not only Universal Energy but is also Universal / unconditional love. They also bring out an important point that Reiki should be welcomed by all other medical systems and the insurance firms since it doesn't interfere with their working and helps in bringing down the medicare costs.

The book gives a short introduction to Reiki but concentrates more on the applications of Reiki in the health field. The emphasis through out is on touch. The Appendices give the hand positions for self Reiki and for giving Reiki to others. The other aspects of Reiki which enable distance healing, programming etc., which do not involve touch have not been covered.

I recommend this book to all those who are interested in the use of Reiki in the health field.

5-0 out of 5 stars Learn all you can about Reiki--this is an excellent start!
Reiki Energy Medicine is a motivator to learn Reiki, which is a Great thing because I can honestly say from my own personal experience, now that I have received attunement, that it WORKS.The authors write with the "Spirit" which just corroborates to me that Reiki is Holy and altogether Powerful.I am a Christian and love and celebrate Jesus every day of my life.Furthermore I have always been a woman of prayer.Reiki brings my faith full circle because it is tangible proof to my heart and soul that God's unconditional love can heal you if you will receive it. What is so awesome about Reiki is that it works regardless of your beliefs! No religious belief is required to receive Reiki healing.
One of the best things about Reiki that I learned from this book is that "The Reiki process hightlights the truth about healing: that the power and the responsibility for healing lie within the individual. The Reiki practitioner brings intention and commitment to the process, acting as a compassionate conduit for the universal life force, but the practitioner does not DO the healing for the client. The healing happens as a result of the relationship between the receiver's energy field and the universal energy field, mediated through the cellular consciousness of the receiver.Reiki enpowers the receiver to do the healing that needs to be done on all levels of being."
The chapters included are: 1 Universal Life Force: The Fundamental Principle of Health, 2 The Unique Power of Reiki, 3 Self-Reiki: Caring for the Caregiver, 4 A Progressive Approach to Wellness, 5 Visions for the Future: Reiki and the Partnership Model of Care. Also included are appendixes with diagrams for self treatment and treatment upon others.
Important note: You really need to look into this book but I would recommend getting an attunement first of which are available at amazon in the form of vhs and dvds. Then you can add to what you've already learned, thus fully enjoy and understand this book. The information here is NOT going to teach you Reiki if you first haven't been attuned.I give this book five stars because it mentions this fact in the text early on.
Closing quote: "Reiki meets us where we are and gently moves us forward, providing support for doing the work we were born to do.Reiki helps us know our purpose and manifest it with strength, vitality and ease.o8E
