4-0 out of 5 stars metroid
a very helpfull guide book .i am a die hard metroid fan, so when i got stumped i was shocked.thanks to the seller i got it from!

4-0 out of 5 stars Let the games begin!
Very easy to read, it gets right to the point that you need. It's very helpful, and very informative. But the best part is thats its two guides in one! woOt!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Half good, half...well...not good
This manual is great except for the Metroid Fusion section.I have done some exploring and found out that PRIMA DOESN'T EVEN SHOW THE LOCATIONS OF NEARLY HALF THE ITEMS IN THE GAME!!!How disappointing....Metroid Prime has a great walkthrough and the guide shows strategies on beating the toughest bosses, but not with Fusion!Come on Prima!I'm not trying to criticize you or anything, but I know you can work a little harder.

4-0 out of 5 stars Two guides for the price of one, very informative
This is definitely one of the better guides I've seen for Metroid Prime.I'd give it a five but there are about two things that bother me about the guide (see below).

First of all, the guide has a very detailed and easy to use walkthrough.I loved it. Easy to follow and easy to read with great detailed maps and plenty of screenshots (which you'll undoubtably need!).There is a maps section before the walkthrough and then they show the maps again before each section of the walkthrough, which makes for far less page flipping.

The Metroid Prime section gives you the run down on everything you need for all of Samus' abilities and how to obtain them in this highly detailed walkthrough. The screenshots are clear although at times they can be a bit darker than others. Some screens are actually very hard to depict what they're trying to tell you even with the text standing out. I wouldn't consider the terrain you venture through in Metroid Prime to be quite that dark.

The Metroid Fusion section of this guide is very useful if you want to complete the entire game.Much like Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion maps seemed more like a grid and Prima did a very good job in these maps by highlighting hidden areas along the way.Using this guide it is nearly impossible to get yourself lost (although the game makes sure you don't get lost either...).Again, a run down on all Samus' abilities and a full walkthrough to help you get everything you need to defeat SA-X and save the universe!A great companion in deed. The screens are still a little darker in this section but because of the fact that Metroid Fusion has a bit more lighting in some areas than Metroid Prime, you can much more easily depict these.

My gripes with the guide. Well first of all, for Metroid Fusion it doesn't depict how to get all the different endings of the game. I do not believe they did this in Metroid Prime either. Also, there is no walkthrough for the original Metroid. This isn't too bad of a problem but the first Metroid game presents probably one of the greatest challenges in the series (aside from Prime of course) and I need more than just basic "tips" that I've already come to learn by playing other Metroid titles. My thrid gripe of course is the dark screens but they are crystal clear and you shouldn't have a problem trying to make out anything in the Metroid Fusion section.

Overall, this guide is probably your best friend in completing both of these titles. It's nice to see that there was a guide publisher that took Metroid Fusion into consideration. Both guides are good and WILL help you find everything with little hassle.

So...

The Good
+Complete walkthrough for Metroid Prime and Fusion
+Detailed Maps for both section
+Nice thorough walkthrough for both sections
+Crystal clear screenshots

The Bad
-Game endings aren't revealed
-Metroid Prime screens are a little dark at times
-No NES Metroid walkthrough, just "Tips" on how to go through the game.

While the last con isn't a problem it would've still been nice to include a short walkthrough at the least being that it is a secret of the game. ... Read more

Product Description
Data fusion or information fusion are names which have beenprimarily assigned to military-oriented problems. In militaryapplications, typical data fusion problems are: multisensor, multitarget detection, object identification, tracking, threatassessment, mission assessment and mission planning, among manyothers. However, it is clear that the basic underlying conceptsunderlying such fusion procedures can often be used in nonmilitaryapplications as well. The purpose of this book is twofold: First, topoint out present gaps in the way data fusion problems areconceptually treated. Second, to address this issue by exhibitingmathematical tools which treat combination of evidence in the presenceof uncertainty in a more systematic and comprehensive way. Thesetechniques are based essentially on two novel ideas relating toprobability theory: the newly developed fields of random settheory and conditional and relational event algebra.
This volume is intended to be both an update on research progress ondata fusion and an introduction to potentially powerful newtechniques: fuzzy logic, random set theory, and conditional andrelational event algebra.
Audience: This volume can be used as a reference book forresearchers and practitioners in data fusion or expert systems theory,or for graduate students as text for a research seminar or graduatelevel course. ... Read more

The mathematics described in this volume is valuable to, for example, medical imaging and reasoning about schedulability, which are relatively unrelated to the field in which the work was developed, namely surveillanceof airborne military targets. Analysts working in fields where informationof various kinds (e.g., measurements, correlations, and rules-of-thumb)influences an outcome will find herein a unifying mathematical mechanism. 2-0 out of 5 stars A great account of what may be science's greatest blunder
I'm half way through this book, and I just can not take it anymore: Although this book is excellently researched and chronicles the events wonderfully there is a bad feeling about this work. Let me first focus on the positives though:

Beaudette does not attempt to hide his bias, which is firstly stated in the introduction in that he feels there is something here, and that process was not followed by laughing Pons and Fleischmann out of American Scientist circles. The events are chronicled and the case of WHY what happened should not have happened is made. Further, the arguments to support the thesis that Cold Fusion as a field of research is valid is also made quite clearly (although very repetitively).

I also do not disagree with the other reviews which rate this book highly, and are recorded here on Amazon, but clearly, my feelings tend towards the more negative. To summarize the book as far as i've read it:
1) Cold Fusion was a bad name for the area/effect because "fusion" moves it into the area of physicists (who are elitist [....]) which require nuclear artifacts before accepting a measurement of heat.
2) Physicists (who are elitists [....]) sit in their ivory towers and rule American science, while in the UK, Europe and Japan they are far more open minded. Which is why the US is a horrible place to work as a scientist.
3) Chemists, who could have backed up Pons and Fleischmann are either scared of Physicists (who are mean) or are ... anyway physicists are not at all nice and even the ones interested in Cold Fusion are not nice at all.
4) Physicists are bad at admitting when they make a mistake, even if they may have only made the mistake because they accepted someone elses mistake, but since they are not very nice, it is all the physicists mistake.
5) Physicists are afraid if Cold Fusion gets off the ground it will make their efforts meaningless. In fact, even though they don't believe there is anything to cold fusion that just shows how mean they are, because they are kicking something they don't believe in, while it is down.
6) It is probably best not to be too critical in detail of physicists who are still alive, like Robert Park (who is not at all nice, and makes use of ridicule at times ... but let's focus on someone who is dead so they can't sue me).

In short: Although Pons and Fleischmann made some wrong statements it is all the physicists fault, because they are mean and want evidence. Evidence which exists (which, i'm even inclined to believe, because the documentation in the book is very supportive of this facet), but is hard to reproduce because Cold Fusion as a mechanism is not fully understood. Something that can occur in any area of science, but that's ok.

What the book does well is put Pons and Fleischmann's perspective across in very human terms, while the entire time painting them as the victim of the pressure from the research community and skeptics. It chronicles their ridicule and all the slander that was pointed at them, while the entire time painting the physicists as the evil group that is not letting them be heard. As i mentioned, Beaudette also seems to focus on dead physicists rather than the very much alive ones who have very actively spoken out against the science of Cold Fusion. Which frankly seems odd...

What the book reminds me off, in terms of style, are books by religious writers like Dave Hunt, who makes a point and then repeats it until the end of the book. The same is the case here, and although interesting bits of information are used to back this up, after reading for the fifth time that nuclear artifacts were required by physicists which Pons and Fleischmann contended might not exist because the method of heat generation is different to normal fusion like they said. Although, they claimed to have measured neutron emission (indirectly)... which turned out to be wrong ... though someone else claimed to have measured it also, which also turned out to be wrong. Or reading about how reproducing things like cloning are more difficult than reproducing cold fusion, and anyway: different areas of science have different requirements for reproducibility; it just gets old.

I can agree that there was elitism leveled at the field, and i can accept that there might be unknown variables which make things hard to reproduce experiments, but repeating that over and over again just does not make for interesting reading.

In conclusion, while the point is made, it is not made efficiently and more time is spent on making excuses or blaming others than telling the story. While it is indicated that Pons and Fleischmann could have handled things better nothing is made of their failure to raise the issues that were mishandled, and instead a conspiracy of silence is described. Overall the book is slow to read, and because of its repetitive nature it ultimately becomes boring.

I have only read it half way however, so if it picks up and changes dramatically thereafter, i am sorry to have rated it so lowly. At the end of the day, this book was a very frustrating read.

5-0 out of 5 stars cold fusion revisited in the cold light of day
Beaudette has revisited the cold fusion controversy and teased the actual findings of Fleischmannand Pons He has also evaluated the intellectual atmosphere of the first months and years from the 1989 announcement. He did a good exposition on the difference between good and bad science for the lay audience.
He also showed the politics of big science and the poor showing of protocol for the evaluation of the cold fusion phenomenon. The phenomenom is real. It just doesn't work as hot fusion would.
The conflict of paradigms is fascinating to see played out in the world press.
The book is quite readable without complex mathematics to bog down the mind.
Highly recommend the book for moderately educated layman.
With the gas prices being what they are cold fusion deserves more than a cursory look and it does a good job delineating the various sources of xs heat
Sincerely
Doug Hulstedt

5-0 out of 5 stars A must for a teacher
I am a teacher. Several months ago I received an e-mail message from a high school student. The girl wrote; ". . . In my chemistry class, I am doing a project on Cold Fusion.. . . I was wondering if you could give me some advice or information?. . ." Beaudette's book is an excellent summary of what has been done in the field of Cold Fusion since 1989. It is a must for any teacher who is interested in the subject.

In addition to summarizing results of many interesting projects the author offers several philosophical observations about scientific methodology and protocols used in various scientific disciplines. Referring to the Cold Fusion controversy he writes: "to discard a well made observation is to violate modern protocol [scientific methodology]. If widely practiced, such a course would quickly undo science. The most interesting and perplexing observations, though accurately measured, would have to be refused by the scientific community because their cause was obscure. Does this mean that any claim of observation must be accepted as worthy of scientific study? Certainly not. It means something quite different. It means that the controversy must center about the quality of the measurements and not about the source or cause of the phenomenon. . .If conflicting data is prohibited from contention, then theories are no longer falsifible. Were it to enable such practice, science would evolve into secular theology."

Beaudette's book has many other interesting observations and quotes, together with the scientific background of major cold fusion researchers. It certainly deserves a place in libraries, especially in high schools and universities. The level is appropriate for an educated layman.

5-0 out of 5 stars the definitive reference
As a journalist covering cold fusion, I turned again and again to this book to check or confirm facts, data, dates, chronologies, and other details and have found it to be the definitive resource in the field.Written by an engineer and vetted by scientists who participated in cold fusion research, the book is an indispensable guide to anyone interested in the history, data, issues, and future of this subject.Recommended without reservation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Truth in Science:Future University Required Reading
I have read this book, "Excess Heat".I simply could not lay it down until I had finished it entirely.During the process of reading it, I kept repeating to myself (and my captive wife) how excellent a job "this man" did on setting down in philosophically logical terms the convincing facts and logic of the science of cold fusion. At one point I remarked to my wife that "this man" must have taken Apologetics in college and received an "A" mark, but then I remembered that such courses might not have been offered at our Alma Mater (MIT).I was impressed with the way the heretical errors developed, flourished and were brought out in clear plain logic in the book.I want to humbly congratulate the author on such a masterful account of what has happened in this important field.I predict this book will be required reading in some of the "truly best", finest universities in the future.Historically, it will be recorded that Beaudette wrote the truth at a time when science was a bit confused and not quite willing to accept it right away.Slowly it will gain momentum, understanding and finally acceptance.Congratulations on a book that is very well written with class, authority, and no doubt, with hard work, the old fashion way:a book for all seasons.

Product Description
A guide to the advanced practice of Inner Alchemy, which brings the physical body into balance with the energy body

• Presents the second level of Inner Alchemy practices that use the eight forces of the pakua (bagwa) to collect, gather, and condense chi in the body

• Explains how to balance negative emotional energy with positive energy to detoxify, nourish, and integrate the physical and the energy body with the forces of nature

• Shows how to collect and channel the greater energies of the stars and planets to create unity between what is above and below

Cosmic Fusion is an advanced level of Inner Alchemy that teaches how to bring the physical body into balance with the energy body--a necessary prerequisite for the formation of the universal body, the pearl of compassion that is one with Original Creation and the Universal Tao. Cosmic Fusion works with the expression of the eight pakua (bagwa) of Chinese cosmology, through which all creation is divided and given form, nature, and definition.

Cosmic Fusion exercises establish the spiritual body firmly in the lower abdomen, where chi energy is gathered and distributed to all parts of the body--and into all creation. The fully illustrated exercises in this book also show how to collect and channel the greater energies of the stars and planets. By “fusing” all these different energies together, a harmonious whole is created, a unity of what is above and below. As heavenly and earthly forces are brought into balance, the life perfectly suited to the practitioner manifests, allowing the spirit body to prepare to move into worlds beyond--and back. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Useful, but did it really need to be a separate book?
I found this book to be useful in terms of understanding Chia's approach to Taoist inner alchemy work and integrating more of the practices into my own work. At the same time, it seemed like this was just a much more convoluted version of the Fusion of the five element techniques, with a lot of extra and somewhat unnecessary steps included. I found that I needed to boil away a lot of the extra steps and once I did so still was able to achieve the desired and expected results for doing this practice. I'm not sure the material presented in this book warranted an entirely new book. It's still useful material and worth learning in order to refine your inner alchemical work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meditation practice with excellent and comprehensive techniques
Cosmic Fusion does look like one esoteric alchemical book that seems quite irrelevant to common folks with a regular 9-5 job.But if one could strip away the mythical or metaphysical parts (like streaming in cosmic energy from the Big Dipper!), Mantak Chia's system does can benefit one's physical/mental health as well as help to promote one's spirituality. The followings are areas that I find very interesting (and Chia's meticulous presentation is certainly comprehensive and useful):

1. Opening the thrusting channels: the text explains the classic Taoist approach of clearing the thrusting channel up from the perineum to "below the heart", PLUS clearing it down through gulping-action of intense saliva swallowing. In addition, a modified Indian yoga approach of clearing the thrusting channels (plus opening the crown) through single nostril pranayama technique is also included.Very comprehensive.

2. Opening the belt channel: Again, the classic Taoist approach of tuning and strengthening the "circumference" of the lower dan tien is introduced. The text also extends the action to become a spiraling action on the whole trunk, under Indian yoga influence. Again, comprehensive.

3. The classic Taoist approach is an avoidance of driving chi to/across the heart (i.e. safer approach), with joining the heart energy and dan tien energy only through mind-directed meditation focusing on the area between the eye brows (or the third eye, as commonly being referred to).Chia also warns against driving too much chi to the heart.

4. Meditation to cultivate compassion: Ultimately Tao goes beyond good and bad, but cultivation of compassion is certainly an important middle station of a Taoist's spiritual practice. Here a Buddhist uses similar techniques as the Taoist.Nowadays, some Christians also use meditation to cultivate their morality (interested reader can refer to The Good Heart: A Buddhist Perspective on the Teachings of Jesus by Dalai Lama).Having said that it would be foolish to assume that one can cultivate one's compassion through meditation ALONE.To this spiritual end, one needs first to have a conscious determination to cultivate one's morality (be it religious or mere spiritual).Without such determination, one would likely to become "love thy neighbor as thyself" ONLY during one's meditation session!Needless to say, it will be useless and a waste of time if such kind heart can't be translated into real life (at worse, it would needlessly strengthen one's ego, be it kind or selfish!)Needless to say, Chia's method to strengthen one's compassion is just one of the possible methods.

5-0 out of 5 stars The next step
If you have followed any of the Mantak Chia system in the past, this book is truly worth practicing. Not for beginners, it builds on the practices detailed in almost a dozen other books on Taoist Meditation and brings the various teachings together.Be prepared to learn about the pa kua symbol in detail and use it to its fullest extent to bring different energies together in new ways and move to the next level of your meditation practice. You can also look forward to detailed instructions on how to open the thrusting routes and belt routes. This is a must have for the serious practitioner of taoist energy meditation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Balancing the Physical & Energy Bodies with the Eight Taoist Forces
The extensive high quality color illustrations gracing most every page of COSMIC FUSION help to elevate what might otherwise have seemed to be an esoteric book on advanced Taoist alchemical energy meditation practices to a very high level of practical applicability. The numerous exercises in COSMIC FUSION help the reader master working with the Taoist eight forces and directions, yet this book also does an excellent job of describing Taoist concepts and cosmology, and how to transform "negative" emotions such as anger, frustration and guilt into kindness with simple techniques such as smiling to one's organs.

We are extremely fortunate that Destiny Books is publishing Mantak Chia's comprehensive works describing Taoist energy practices, and that COSMIC FUSION includes so many high quality illustrations on the finest paper. The illustrations are extremely useful for understanding the basic concepts involved in the exercises and the relationships between various forces and energies, and the text provides delightful overviews, stories and practical guidelines for all concepts covered. Chia has created a true masterpiece in COSMIC FUSION by clearly describing the most important basic steps one needs to follow in order to achieve clearly observable positive results in one's health, vitality, peace of mind, and overall prosperity.

I especially loved the question and answer section in this book, as it covers such a wide variety of topics, from how to energetically protect oneself to how diet influences one's energy (with raw foods contributing to yin, and meat and dairy to yang), to master Chia's pursuit of the elusive secret of how to transfer one's consciousness to the next life through one's energy body... which lives forever.

COSMIC FUSION is an excellent book for all energy practitioners and advanced meditators seeking to live healthier, more harmonious lives, and I give it my highest recommendation! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than Bittencourt.
Good solid introduction to plasma physics.Fairly general introduction geared towards advanced undergraduates and grad students. There are better books which concentrate on applications, both of which I own.Sturrock for geophysical and earth plasma physics and Kulsrud for astrophysics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Plasma physicists do it with confinement
I took an intro to plasma physics class using this book at the undergraduate level - and this book was perfect. It has a good blend of experimental evidence, theory, and math. The derivations are really good, you can follow along in the margins. The pictures are clear and beautiful, the page layout easy on the eyes. This is not a graduate text, but aimed at the advanced undergrad level. You should already know calculus, complex analysis, EM, and linear algebra before learning this material.

5-0 out of 5 stars Clearly and simplified
The texts of this book are not long, but are very clear in physics concepts and are simplied:
1.All important math steps to prove the physics are mentioned(not released to the reader) in simplied way so that readers can know clearly both the math steps and physics meanings without being buffered by complecated math steps.
2.The author mentioned clearly the physics meaning of any equation.

I am a bachalor of physics, such kind of textbook(clear and simple and friendly) I had had only two:textbook named "Introduction to Electrodynamic" and "Introduction to Quantum Mechanics" written by famous author,Mr. Grify.

As a result,I think it is a very good textbook,at least for students who start to learn plamsa physics.

3-0 out of 5 stars Really not a graduate text
I picked up this book for my graduate plasma 1 class alongside Goldston's book. The material is geared towards undergrads and would have been great had I picked up the book two years ago.Instead I found that I hardly opened Chen and stuck with Goldston or course notes. So if you are an undergrad or someone who is just generally interested in plasma physics this is probably what you should be buying. If you are a grad student and don't have it already then there is a decent chance that if you buy this book all you will get out of it is a warm feeling in your heart from knowing that you have the same book on your shelf that every other plasma physicist has.

5-0 out of 5 stars It Just Keeps Coming in Handy
I first bought this text for an undergraduate course in plasmas, and I liked it then -- Chen's first few chapters will get you through the basics without any undue suffering (you'll hurt because the subject can be difficult, not because the text is unclear.) After spending a few months on my shelf, it reappeared for some research I was doing that required me to get comfortable with a few different types of plasma waves. Now Chen has come back into my life -- I'm taking a graduate course in kinetic theory of plasmas, and I find myself opening up this book on a daily basis to figure something out. This textbook has served me well, and if you're doing work (coursework or research) in the plasmas field, it will likely serve you well, too. The first four or five chapters are written so that a senior-level physics undergrad can understand them, so you get a nice conceptual grasp of the subject (as well as good reference material on more advanced topics.)

One point: I wouldn't recommend buying this as a "teach yourself plasma physics on a desert island" kind of book. If you can find someone who knows the subject, though, Chen will help you to learn a lot after they've explained a few basic points.

Basic subjects covered are:

Orbit theory (single particle motion, adiabatic invariants)
Fluid approximation
Plasma waves (O, X, R, L, acoustic, and many others)
Diffusion and resistivity
Equilibrium/stability issues
Kinetic theory
Assorted non-linear effects ... Read more

Product Description
This book brings together for the first time the complete theory of data based neurofuzzy modelling and the linguistic attributes of fuzzy logic in a single cohesive mathematical framework. After introducing the basic theory of data based modelling new concepts including extended additive and multiplicative submodels are developed. All of these algorithms are illustrated with benchmark examples to demonstrate their efficiency. The book aims at researchers and advanced professionals in time series modelling, empirical data modelling, knowledge discovery, data mining and data fusion. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Where is the data ?
While i do not deny the contribution at providing a more or less complete treatment of neurofuzzy techniques for data modeling, i'm still wondering where the non-theoretical chapters dealing with how to cope with real data with these techniques are hidden. The few examples in the book are mostly artificial and very limited in their scope. i'm not sure people dealing with data have an interest at reading this book, it's more about neurofuzzy techniques than data modelling.

The book edited by Schwefel, Weneger and Weinert entitled "Advances in computational intelligence" published by Springer emphasizes a lot more on fuzzy techniques based on real data although it does not discuss the "neuro" part of "neuro-fuzzy" techniques.

Still this book is not bad from a theoretical neuro-fuzzy perspective, but since these techniques are aimed at dealing with real data, i would have hoped a much better treatment of the practical aspects, which it fails to provide. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great exercises!
This book has pulled together the best Pilates, ballet, and yoga exercises and put them all in one place. It is nice because you can mix and match what you want, using your body weight and nothing more. They do use one piece of equipment- a pilates ring. You will want a standard yoga or pilates mat for the exercises and you are good to go.

The pictures show you what you should be doing and everything is easy to follow.I really like how this book is set up.Do what exercises you feel like doing that day, and some cardio-- and you have a great weight loss/ toning program that you can do at home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Newly Flexible Runner
I come from a runner background and have been looking for a workout to improve my flexibility.I saw Hot Bod Fusion and bought it since it includes pretty much every discipline known for flexibility. What's great about this book is that each chapter only takes me about 10 minutes--cool.Exercises also include `tips' from the author that help keep me on track and focused. I've done the routine 8 times now.Do I feel more flexible?Yes, definitely-and my `core' is stronger to boot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Quick and Effective!
I'm so happy I can do this workout in only 30 minutes and still hit all my problem areas.I really feel it in my abs the next day!And the ballet is definitely giving my rear a nice lift.I've been doing pilates for over 4 years and it's nice that this book includes advanced options and 2 chapters that use the pilates circle. It makes things challenging and interesting for me.I'm newer to yoga and ballet but finding these routines easy to follow because of all the pictures. Many of the exercises show modifications, as well, which has helped me ease into them.It really is the quickest and most effective workout I've tried!

5-0 out of 5 stars Hot Bod Fusion
I noticed a flatter stomach after two weeks of the exercises. Everything is detailed and easy to follow. I would highly recommend this book. Also, the male model is very easy on the eyes. Ha!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Fitness Book
This looks like a great book. I just got it, and I can't wait to get started on the four-week sequence of exercises. What a unique idea to combine yoga, pilates, and ballet into one workout. This is going to be fun. Looking through it, there are lots of step-by-step photos that will make it easy to use. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Just a start
I agree with the first review. I bought this book expecting there would we more deep discussion into the framework for at least a medium business need. What I got by reading the entire book is a short version of the developer guide, that is actually free from oracle's web site.
But, you still need to know how to develop a CRUD application before doing the real business app. And yes, we still need a non-basic ADF book.

2-0 out of 5 stars A disappointing tutorial
I was hoping for a book that would provide an in-depth discussion of applying this technology to my business problem. And frankly, I am disappointed.I suppose that my chief disappointment is that the book seems to digress too quickly into a tutorial. For example, I was interested in how to use a popup dialog box. There is no coverage of popup dialog boxes outside the chapters where one builds a sample application.Another of the key concepts that separates ADF Faces technology from Java Server Faces is the built in partial page rendering available in the ADF components. The authors devote one page to a general discussion of the technology, glossing over some important details in my opinion, then digress into another series of tutorials. While tutorials are great if I am building the sample application, everyone I speak with agrees that tutorials generally fall short when it comes to applying the technology to real business problems.Additionally, no place that I have worked is interested in paying you while you build the sample application in order to learn the technology. We need books that allow us to quickly apply the technology to our business problems. In my case, my business problem is more complex than simple master detail relationships and persisting data to a database.Perhaps my review would be more positive if my business problem were that simple.

Another place where the book falls short is that it fails to discuss the what the various controls on the property inspector are for, leaving us guessing and in many cases simply wondering.

If you are looking for a reasonably good tutorial, showing you how to build a typical CRUD application backed by a database, then this might be for you.If you are looking for an in depth discussion of the technology, and guidance in making design decisions for your own application, you are likely to be disappointed.

I come from a web development background having done Java EE for more than 6 years, including HTML, Java Script, JSP, EJB, and JDBC to name a few technologies.I have worked in all layers from the database to the user interface, using JDeveloper, Eclipse, and WebSphere to name a few integrated development environments I have worked in. So I am not new to web development on the Java platform.

In short, this book disappointed me.I still think the market needs a good book on applying this promising technology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amaizin Book
One of the best book and really handbook.
thanks oracle and the guys work there to create this technology.

Product Description
Unraveling the role of fusion in the universe has taken almost a century since Einstein's proof of the equivalence of energy and matter in 1905. The discovery that fusion reactions are responsible for the building of the light elements in the "Big Bang" and the subsequent development of the heavier elements in the stars and in exploding supernovae is one of the field's most exciting successes.
In this engaging book, McCracken and Stott reexamine these discoveries in astrophysics and discuss the possibility that fusion reactions are not only our sun's source of power, but may also be induced for our use on earth.

* Details the initial discovery of nuclear fusion, all related research, and today's concern over future energy supply
* Examines current attempts to create nuclear fusion here on earth
* Enhanced with color illustrations and examples
* Provides a non-technical treatment of fusion using straightforward language
* Includes technical notes for aspiring physicists ... Read more
