5-0 out of 5 stars Magnificently fun
This book is a compilation of pamhplets that Dolfyn had previously published in six volumes. Crystal wisdom reflects the total essence of her work with the mineral kingdom, which has been highly influential on my own path with crystals. Dolfyn gives a very good explanation of the basics of working with crystals, including and alternative to 'programming.' Instead of treating crystals like lifeless tools, she reccomends the euphemisation of 'inspiring' them to work with us.

Also included are chapters detailing many of the more common gemstones and even a listing of concise information relating to many uncommon minerals that were becoming only gradually more popular. Several entries include poetic messages from the stones themselves, lending a playful sense of authenticity to Dolfyn's work.

4-0 out of 5 stars Crystal Wisdom Review
Written in a simple, easy to understand style.Does not take itself too seriously and is very enjoyable reading for fans of crystals.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must-read for all crystal lovers.
Crystal Wisdom is definitely on my "top ten" list of books I reccommend for crystal lovers. Whether you're looking for a good introduction to the crystalline realms, seeking to deepen your knowledge ofindividual crystal properties or even looking for material for you owncrystal workshops, Crystal Wisdom offers abundant, well written material. This book contains easily the best crystal meditations and exercises I'vefoundto date: the section on how to attune oneself to crystalenergiesis superb, the chapter on healing a masterpiece , and Dolfyn's advise onhow to encounter the Crystal Teaching Spirits is elegantly simple. Theentries on individual crystals definitely expanded my understanding of eachnamed crystal's nature and my only complaint would be that he author hasnot (to date) published a second volume!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It
The book was factually incorrect in several places and outdated in several others. The photos were alright but not worth the price. Skip it.

5-0 out of 5 stars great if limited
I bought this book and received the volume immediately. The book is slender but has a great set of pictures of the different gems. The book is set up like a dictionary with a discussion of each major (and many minor) gem usually with a review of how to identify it and how to distinguish some of the more common fakes.

My only objection is that the book wasn't long enough.

I liked the book a lot and would recommend it to anyone who loves gems.

Product Description

Gemstones of the World is the single, cornerstone volume that every hobbyist, jeweler, jewelry maker, and rockhound needs. And this updated edition contains a new chapter on the treatment of gemstones, expanded information on what’s “New on the Market,” and 400 additional stones.

More than 1,500 full-color photos showcase each precious and semiprecious stone in its rough, natural, polished, and cut renditions. Each entry offers complete information on the gemstone’s formation, structure, physical properties, and characteristics, along with the best methods of working, cutting, and polishing it. There are even full treatments of lesser-known gems; a special section on rocks as precious stones; and organic gem materials. Charts and tables (including the “double fraction” figures that experts want) help collectors identify unknown gemstones and check for genuineness.

5-0 out of 5 stars invaluable
We travel the USA doing gem and rock shows for a living. This book is the argument solver on rock/gem id.

3-0 out of 5 stars Handy reference
I have a number of books on rocks, minerals and gemstones. Some are texts, others, more like "coffee table books" with huge lush photos of the gems and stones. This book has quite a bit of information, but I find it lacking in highlighting the differences in different varieties of stones, and while it has many illustrations they are small and somewhat disappointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Essential reference... beautiful little book!
I am a mineral and crystal dealer and love this "gem" (sorry) of a book.It is well-organized and clearly written, and the photographs are actually useful - showing specimens that one might actually see - making it valuable for identification.Useful for all levels of knowledge or interest, with enough depth for a professional reference, yet not daunting for a novice. High-quality printing on glossy paper and a very portable size - this are a must-have for the enthusiast, collector, or anyone who loves gems, minerals, and crystals.

5-0 out of 5 stars A 'must' for any gemstone collector or library catering to them
GEMSTONES OF THE WORLD has been newly revised and expanded in this updated fourth edition, which packs in nearly two thousand photos of gems along with complete physical properties and tips on finding and cutting them. Even more gemstones are covered here than in previous editions, making for an outstanding reference and a 'must' for any gemstone collector or library catering to them.

5-0 out of 5 stars The new Fourth Edition
The new edition of this classic work adds material covering gem treatments and things like diamond testing devices. It has several pages of "new to the market" gemstones, and updates and extends a few areas and has some minor rearrangements of the material. It's noticeably thicker than the 3rd edition, but overall it's pretty much a collection of small improvements rather than anything revolutionary.

It remains probably the best first book on gemstones for anyone interested in the subject. It tells you a little bit about everything, though it generally does not cover any topic in great depth. It's a pleasingly sized hard-bound volume which is very portable and quite reasonably priced.

There's a new six page section on the healing powers of gemstones which I thought was rather disappointing to see, but I guess they feel the need to cater to the new-age audience as well.

It's a book that everyone with an interest in gemstones should own, and the 4th edition is a worthy update and a worthwhile upgrade for anyone who owns a previous edition. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for gemstone information
When I read this book a few years ago, it changed my entire way of thinking about and using gemstones. Until I read it, gemstone therapy never resonated with me, even though I'm an energy healer (Reiki Master / Polarity Therapist) and actively used crystals in my practice. All the other books on gemstones just didn't seem right to me, or to resonate, until I this one. The interviews with each Gemstone Guardian kept me glued to this book until the last page. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to take their use of gems to a higher level.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful and informative
I highly enjoyed this book. I read some of the other reviews and I understand how opinions can differ about it. It is true, it is probably not a book for beginners unless they are very openminded about certain things. I also understand how the author's emphasis on the spherical form of crystals can be a matter of controversy. However, it does make sense to me that the energy emanated from spheres would be different than from any other form. The guardians he interviews emphasise actually that the consciousness of mankind is now ready for the use of gemstones in spherical form. That means it is a development that humankind is growing into right now, so there still naturally is a transition period and it doesn't mean that crystals in other form are not valid or working. The sphere works differently, more potent for todays consciousness, that's how I understand it. I personally don't work with crystals, but read this book more for interest in the background information about our planet, history, and the subtle bodies (astral, causal, mental bodies and so on). As for the mentioning of extraterrestrials planting certain crystals, or trading for crystals, well it depends how openminded one is. I have been around these ideas for a while so they are not 'weird' or foreign to me (I grew up in a household where it was common to discuss that extraterrestrias really had helped mankind along in their development, such as helped build the pyramids, offered knowledge about agriculture and so on; so why would it be strange to think they also help the development of crystals along. With that being said, as the author also says in the book, keep some discrimination as not all extraterrestrials are of good intention!). It helps to remember that the universe might be far more fantastic than what we commonly assume, and this book is a good reminder for that.

1-0 out of 5 stars Rule #1: Never buy a book Larry King endorses.
I bought this book since it has a chapter on building a crystal pharmacy. Little did I know that the author was referring to himself and reveals nothing to the reader as to how he/she should go about it with the exception of 'buy my line of presumably overpriced, crystal necklaces'. The author has written this book as a pretense to sell you his product line of necklaces and I RESENT IT. Here are two examples: the book comes with a postcard inserted in it to order the author's catalog and on pg 287 (I paraphrase) 'Anyone fortunate enough to own a strand of Lapis Lazuli spheres are really lucky to own such a wonderful tool.' The author 'talks' to the 'guardians of each crystal and they have explained to him what their powers are and how to construct these special necklaces that only he knows now how to do properly. But lucky for the reader, he can sell them to you...Blah, blah, blah, This book will end up in the next garage sale. If I had seen the Larry King endorsement on the front cover I would have known to stay away, far, far away but I didn't. Oh, well. Unfortunately, I bought Michael Katz's Energy Medicine book too. I haven't looked or read it yet but I wouldn't be surprised if it were written to sell me on necklaces or something else too since it came with the catalog postcard in it as well. I recommend people stay away from Katz books. He can't be trusted -- he has an agenda.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great information
I like the form and the format of this book.It gives great insights as to why we should wear gemstones and the significance to us on this planet at this time. It's more current and up to date then other books and it is channeled information.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not What I Anticipated
I am not into the magical and mystical powers of gemstones. From the review I read, I was prepared for a book naming and showing all types of gems along with some beliefs and meanings of color and gemstones for my jewelry designs. I would not recommend unless you are interested in Wicca and forms of mysticism and magic. ... Read more

Product Description
People have been attracted to gemstones and crystals since prehistoric times, and while beauty plays a part in the appeal, it is the stone’s energy that has the most impact on us. Throughout many cultures, their powers have been used for attraction, protection and healing. The ancient Chinese art of feng shui also uses crystals to remedy problems and enhance specific areas of life. Gemstone Feng Shui is an innovative approach to using gemstones and crystals through feng shui techniques to help you create harmony, healing and balance in your environment and life.

Part One covers the feng shui and gemstone/crystal basics, then takes you step-by-step in choosing the right stones and room-by-room to applying their power to your home. Using gemstone feng shui outside your home and in your neighborhood is also covered. In addition, the book includes:

- Instructions for the three methods of applying gemstones to your feng shui practice

- How to use gemstones and crystals to draw on the energy of the elements

- How to call on the power of your birthstone(s) for balance and strength

Part Two provides an overview of the most common gemstones and minerals, including their history, associations and use in feng shui. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Fell flat to my expectations
Gemstones and feng shui; the marriage between the two isn't as apparent as it should be. However, stones and their energies are a perfect companion to the ancient Chinese practice. Sandra Kynes' book, Gemstone Feng Shui, explores this complex and interesting relationship. I imagined a whole system of feng shui that used gemstones to counter and support the natural feng shui energies. While the book has a wealth of information on how to use crystals in conjunction with traditional feng shui practices it fell short of my initial impression. Instead the book describes how to use the stones with alongside current feng shui practices.

The book has two parts. The first part introduces crystals, healing properties, feng shui basics and tools. It then goes into limited exploration of how to use gemstones in combination with feng shui. The book does a great job of introducing the basics of crystals. Ms. Kynes' gemstone-circle meditation is a great way to introduce new users of crystals and their energies to one another by placing them around a person. The book uses the 9 Square, or Lo Shu Grid to teach readers feng shui. The Lo Shu Grid divides a room up into squares instead of the more common practice of visualizing a room broken down into a circle with each direction representing a piece of the pie.

The second half of the book goes into the gemstones themselves. Over 100 pages are dedicated to explaining the history, lore, and energy properties of selected stones. This part of the book is worth its weight in gold. These tables and lists show readers new gemstone correspondences as they relate to the 5 traditional Chinese elements.

Gemstone Feng Shui falls short at teaching readers how to incorporate gemstones into daily feng shui practices. When it describes how to remove blocking or harmful energies it is done separately from gemstones. The two topics seem to have very little to do with each other. When they do interact, it is through descriptions of situations and their blocks and a few suggestions on how to counteract, harmonize or enhance aspects of this element. The book makes a series of statements rather than exploring the rationale behind how the stone's energies work to produce the desired feeling in a room. It quickly goes from element to element as well as showing how the colors of the stones or one's birthstone can also produce and affect feng shui energies.

Overall, this book is not for people new to crystal work or feng shui. Even with the introductory chapters on each topic, the book crams a large amount of study and history of both feng shui and crystals but doesn't do much to describe the marriage between the two. However, the time and energy spent on describing the stones and their energies make up for the lack of practical applications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Feng Shui for Pagans
At last, a way to use feng shui that works from a pagan perspective and belief. Thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Energy Connection
Energy connects everything in the universe and finding a way to use it so it works for you is so important. I was already using crystals around my home for their beneficial energy -- now I have some really good guidelines with this book. If you use crystals or do any kind of energy work, this system is for you.

1-0 out of 5 stars Put stones around your house for the ultimate in harmony!
Now, I can get into some feng shui and I can see how a certain flow to your house is important.I can accept things like "don't put your bed on the same wall as the door", but that is a far cry from this book.Putting different color rocks in different places around the house will not help you and you might want to take a trip to the shrink if you think otherwise. If you still believe in the power of rocks--LOL--after you get back from the shrink, then this is the book for you! Buy it now!

5-0 out of 5 stars Profound book and well explained material
Sandra Kynes'e book is an excellent, easy to read and complete review of gemstones. However, I would like to add the following: I have a number of books about the basic principles and techniques of feng shui and many of them are confusing, misleading and incomplete. This book by name and topic was not supposed to provide a detailed info on feng shui, BUT IT DOES. It has logical, easy to follow yet complete description of feng shui principles. I truly enjoyed it and highly recommend to anyone interested in feng shui. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars DeLIGHTful gem --Get the word out!
This book has been out for nearly two years and I do not understand why it is not better known.I am so glad I came across it as it is now one of my favorite crystal books on gemstone divination. The book is lovely--from the cover through the nice quality pages that are pastel color coded to the gorgeous photos of each of the 38 different types of crystals. The divination system is based on a collection of 38 different types of crystals and gemstones, including 3 of each type, for a total of 114 stones. The stones are easy to find and Ms. Butler also lists substitute stones for more flexibility. One needs only medium [3/4"- 1 inch]tumble stones which usually cost from $1.00 - $5.00 in rock shops around the midwest area. It is fun collecting the stones that are right for your set.The divination system reminds me of my other favorite book on the subject, "Fortune-Telling by Crystals and Semi-Precious Stones" by Ursula Markham, 1987.The querent draws 9 stones and sets them on a velvet mat.The book helps you understand the stones' message and also how to consider the 9 stones in relationship to each other on the mat. There is also an opportunity to ask a Yes or No question, and a simple Health reading.Later in the book Ms. Butler also relates many of the stones to Tarot cards. My friends enjoy having readings from the gems. My other favorite crystal book is "Healing Crystal First Aid Manual" by Michael Gienger, which is about using crystals and gems for healing. Both are great guides for using crystals and gems.
Highly recommended-- a joy.

5-0 out of 5 stars My CBB (Crystal Blessings Book)
I purchased "Crystal & Gemstone Divination" from Amazon by Gail Butler.I love it ... super-great.The book is pack-filled with tons of information ... Crystals/gemstones woven with Tarot and other metaphysics ... meditation, chakra, dream, amulets and talismans plus energy work.Ms. Butler is continuously on point with a wealth of information ... stone interpretations, sample readings, etc.I consider this my CBB; Crystal Blessings Book.

The book arrived this week, and I'm all over the pages ... like a kid with a new toy.The photographs are phenomenal; exquisite and true to color.I own many [many] books on crystals and gemstones. This by far is one of the best books in my collection. My only shortfall is that I cannot give this book enough praise ... I keep trying to end this review, but then I'm compelled to explore more previews. This is definitely a WOW book for me!

5-0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny!
What a wonderful book!!!Haven't we all wondered what good things the future will bring? What's next for our love life, careers, or health?Well I was, and found Crystal & Gemstone Divination an extraordinarily powerful book to teach the casting of stones and the reading of their messages for me.

I really like the style of writing which is warm and clear, with step by step instructions, beautiful photographs, quick sidebars for fast information, and a glossary.Chapters include the history of gemstone divination, how to make a gemstone bag, each stone's photo and it's properties, and the stones relationship to the Tarot cards. Also, the balancing of your chakra, dreamwork, forecasting, how to conduct readings for others, and much more.

This is such a beautiful and thorough book that I'll be able to use it over and over again as any good reference book.Worth every penny!!! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Of The Best !
I am not a jewel driven kind of gal - most of my money goes into art supplies and the comfy clothing that I chose to wear is not conducive to wearing too many jewels. Paint and glue would not be compatible with the unearthly beauty of the gems and jewelry displayed in this beautiful book! That being said - if I could have jewels such as the ones in this book I might take a second look at my clothes and make myself fit to wear these amazing pieces. Ah! To be wealthy enough to be able to collect some of this art-to-wear.

As I have mentioned before - I am a big fan of Lark Books publications and their compendiums are generally the best of the best. This is no exception to that rule. The jewelry that is displayed in this book is all pure eye candy and is sure to bring out the lust for personal adornment even to those of us who generally don't have a yen for bling - like me. This book is chock full of the latest and the greatest in modern jeweled adornment. You will find everything from pins, earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings to odder things like a contact lens that is filled with gems - alien looking to be sure and I wonder how long it would be comfortable in your eye - but it looks great in the photo! There are small 'Earth Spirit Guides, small sculptures, airy tiaras fit for the highest of debutantes. Mostly though this is a book about personal adornment - haute jewels as it were. With few exceptions I would be over the moon to be able to own any of the glorious examples in this book. The photography - as is always the case with Lark Books is superb. There was nothing to do but give it 5 stars for being a book that I will take great pleasure at looking at over and over again - no, I don't think I can give this one up! Kudos to Lark and to the amazing artists that are featured in this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars gorgeous....again
As with most of the lark 500 series, this is a compendium of gorgeous work filled with gemstones in all sorts of varieties and clever settings. Another beautiful coffee table book of inspiration. As with all these books - there are no instructions, projects or techniques - it is JUST pictures of lots of different work. Lots of work not seen in any other books too, which is nice.
Recommend, it ranks high in the 500 series. (There is also lots of brilliant metalwork - its not just gemstones, although they do, of course, feature highly). ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely essential for gemology at all levels
While there are dozens of excellent books out there on the subject of gemology, there are really only a couple that I would consider to be required reading. The Color Encyclopedia of Gemstones is one of them. Even though the book has been out of print for awhile, it still manages to provide more information n one volume than just about every other book out there.
With clear and concise entries of just about every gemstone available to the collector, as well as color photos of each gem described, this book contains pretty much all the information you would need to identify your gemstone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Color Encylopedia of Gemstones Vendor Review
The item was well priced, arrived in excellent condition and in a reasonable time frame. I am very pleased.
I knew what I was purchasing as I had examined the book several years ago (at that time it was priced over $100 and was too expensive).

5-0 out of 5 stars although the rest are very fine, this is still the best
It is a real shame that this book is presently out-of-print, I borrowed it from the local library some 5 years ago, and to this date have yet to see anything better in this genre. The technical data about precious stones -such as dispersion, types of refraction, specific gravity, types ofcutting, and so on - are well covered, with specific commentaries onindividual stones presented in encyclopaedic format. It's very useful notonly for specific reference but just for general browsing. What sets thisbook apart, on the other hand, is the quality and quantity of the gemphotography. There are pictures of every major and minor gem in the world, and where a particular type of stone has more than one color - or colors -the entire suite of colors is presented. So the garnets, sapphires, diamonds, tourmalines, topazes, beryls (just to name a few) look positivelykaleidoscopic. The opal section alone has some magnificent stones, including top-quality Lightning Ridge black, one of which is photographedfrom different directions to demonstrate the superb color play. The zirconand spinel photography is quite impressive too.

This book is emphaticallynot for the investor or speculator who is looking for advice, and noattempts at valuation are made. On the other hand, for readers interestedin specific gemmological research or (esoteric) appreciation, this bookwill be ideal. The level of scholarship is impeccable, and the book is notoverwhelmingly technical or difficult. It is not cheap but is worth everypenny. Most strongly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars A superb reference book of colored gemstones!
Outstanding color photographs to review, that are matched to technical data regarding the various gemstone "families". There is a very fine topic governing "colors" of gemstones as well. Joel Arem has done a very fine job! ... Read more

These philosophies will make a difference in your life. The world today is full of hacks who say they can help "guide" you or assist you in finding fulfillment. The answer is, you already have fulfillment inside you. Scott helped me uncover several things to give me the freedom I so desperately needed for peace in my life.

If fact, I found where he was traveling and had a session with him. He was more amazing than I ever anticipated.
I challenge you to buy this book and share it with someone you really love.

I was blown away by the depth of this book. I have read books on energy and auras but the tools in this book have been so incredibly helpful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing and Highly Recommended Read!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book!I was really shocked at the vast amount of knowledge that was packed into a book of this size. It's well written and extremely informative.I learned about a lot of stuff in regards to auras, crystals, gemstones, chakras etc. that I doubt I would have ever taken the time to find out on my own.

I especially liked how well organized it was.I didn't have to look through the table of contents and jump from chapter to chapter to find out what I wanted to know.I just read the book as it was written and it seemed like right when my curiosity kicked in full force, and I had a question about something, it had an answer right in the next section waiting for me.

I appreciate that Scott took care when writing it as to not bombard the reader with too much information and cause confusion. That's a huge plus!It gives just the right portions, right when they're needed, and you can't help but find yourself thinking about things you read in the book even hours after you've put it down.

I highly recommend this book to all of you "seekers" out there, who want to learn about the fascinating world of auras and acquire knowledge and skill in this field. I also recommend it to those more polished in the whole aura phenomenon - and everyone else for that matter, because this book definitely has something for everyone.

Outstanding!

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply delightful and fascinating
Scott's book is a fresh of breath air in the collection of metaphsyical literature available. It is light and humerous, but he takes care to cover important material at the same time.I'm sure you will enjoy reading about some of Scott's own experiences, and the information he brings through from his own guides.

While Scott peppers the book with light humor and dialogue, he presents a lot of information that will be new to most, even widely read readers such as myself. There is information in this book that I had never come across before, making this book invaluable to my personal collection.Scott leads you on a wonderful adventure into the unseen realms, holding you by the hand so that you never skip a beat. ... Product Description
Women are naturally healers. Throughout time, they have performed curative roles as mothers, midwives, caregivers, and wisewomen, but modern medicine has suppressed this important tradition. Ancient women healers knew that the body is more than what is seen: through body, emotions, mind, and spirit, we can connect with the Goddess and actively choose to heal ourselves and others. By relearning and using ancient skills like aura and chakra work, creative visualization, meditation, laying on of hands, psychic healing, and working with crystals and gemstones, women can prevent or transform many dis-eases of the body and spirit before they become matters for modern medicine.

In THE WOMEN’S BOOK OF HEALING, Diane Stein, author of the best-selling ESSENTIAL REIKI, demystifies, explains, and teaches these skills in ways that modern women can learn and use. She first introduces basic healing, then applies those skills to healing with crystals and gemstones—a beautiful, effective, and empowering aspect of the ancient woman’s healing methods. A comprehensive guide from a knowledgeable healer, THE WOMEN’S BOOK OF HEALING proves that well-being is within a woman’s choice and natural abilities, and reaffirms her timeless role as healer of herself and others. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Finding What Was Meant For You
I just got the book and immediately checked out the high points, reading the prologue, bits here and there, etc.I knew this was something I could get into.Diane Stein has put into words the same conclusions that it hastaken me years to reach.I have not read the entire book, but I willdevour every word. The main topic, explanatory from the title, is woman'splace in healing, that woman has always been a healer.

She has sectionsabout auras and laying on of hands, of crystals and gemstones and theirpowers. My sister was in a head-on collision the first of June. It's amiracle she's alive.I took her a necklace of amethyst, which is a healingstone, and it is really making a difference.Diane also has a section onchakras and colors.I am not yet familiar with chakras, but I know fromexperience the power of color therapy. My bedroom is done in shades ofblue and I have a sound-effects machine that simulates the ocean.Oh, yes,it works!

I highly recommend this book, even though so far I have justskimmed off the overflow.Another plus - she expresses herself in plainEnglish. There is not a lot of technical jargon to plow through and say,"Say What? "If I could only keep one of my Christmas gifts, this would be it.Thanks for listening to me. ... Read more

Great book! I have used this book extensively since purchasing it. A truly fun, and informational, book.

3-0 out of 5 stars A shorter guide
This book really consists only of healing on an emotional and spiritual level. I enjoy the channeled messages from each crystal, and this book actually separates channeled from researched material.

If you are looking for a lot of information regarding elixirs, this book will be very useful for you. I reccomend Chase and Pawlik's book for those who would like to further their knowledge of the use and application of gemstone elixirs. This book also has a compendium of pendulum charts for blending and prescribing elxirs and the appropriate dosages.

5-0 out of 5 stars 5+ stars!!!
Chase and Pawlik do an amazing job in writing this excellent book on gemstones as they pertain to alternative and/or complimentary medicine!

This book is broken down into three major parts:Part 1 deals with Exploring the World of Gemstones, Part 2 goes in depth with each of the particular properties of specific stones, and Part 3 deals specifically with application and healing. There is also an extensive list of illustrations that are quite good!

For an even more complete library, I recommend getting this book in addition to Chase and Pawlik's other masterpiece, "Healing with Crystals".

This book is money well spent.Highly recommended!

5-0 out of 5 stars good book to read for beginners
This book was recommended reading before I started my Reiki training. It was a very very helpful book since I was just beginning my journey with Reiki.I now have more in depth books about gems but this is a great starter book for anyone willing to learn.

2-0 out of 5 stars Glorified Reiki I Manual
I bought this book with the hope that it would tell me how certain stoneswould enhance Reiki treatments or maybe how they would function in a ReikiGrid. I think what I'm trying to say is that I was expecting a catalogue ofstones and what they do with Reiki specifically, along with descriptionsand illustrations of specialized layouts that would enhance healing withReiki by merging them with gemstone vibrations. Whoops!

First off, theauthor tells you that certain stones act certain ways depending upon howthey are shaped and if they have been altered from the natural state, i.e.faceted, carbocon-cut, tumbled, etc. Sometimes the shape *does* have aneffect if the cut enhances the stone such as rfaceting bringin more lightinto a stone, or if it is in a sacred shape such as a pyramid, but fromexperience it has little to no effect. She says NOTHING about the gemquality of a stone affecting its vibration and seems to think the size ofthe stone matters, which I have found not to be the case.

I'd say 1/3of the book is the standard Reiki I hand position manual, indeed, anabridged Reiki I manual, and added because she wanted to make the booklonger. No where, except for in a customer review was there even a hintthat this book was for beginning Reiki practitioners. Personally, I thinkenough books have covered Reiki I positions well enough already and to addit to this one was too much.

There was a bit of new information (forme, at least) on the layouts and descriptions of 7 of the same gemstone, one on each major Kundalini Chakra: 7 Garnets, 7 Carnelians, 7 Citrines, 7Rutilated Quartz, 7 Pieces of Amber, 7 Chrysoprase pieces, 7 Rose Quartz, 7Chalcedonies, 7 Aquamarines, 7 Lapis, 7 Amethysts, and 7 Clear Quartz. Those sections had a paragraph of what the stones were to do in each energycenter. And it did give the optimal positions for the stones' energies toaffect each Chakra.

All in all I was very disappointed with this book, which I had set very high hopes on. However, if you are a Reiki I and/or abeginner at Laying on of Stones, this book might be of some help to you. Ifyou're Reiki II or III, do yourself a favor and look at books which arepurely for Laying on of Stones.
