Mostly good
The methodology used for each solution is very clear and reasonable.However, the references used for some of the data is not clearly given.Also, the calculated answers do not match exactly with the values given in the back of the Text Book.Overall, a good way to understand HOW to solve each problem.

This solutions maunal is a must have for all students using Cembers text "Introduction to Health Physics."The textbook alone is a great reference, however, these two texts together provide an excellent ground level understanding of the field and give the reader the tools to work out many of the day-to-day problems in the Health Physics field.The solutions manual really illustrates how to "problem solve" which is a necessary tool.I highly recommend these two texts together.

Excellent, well-written book
This is an excellent book for students of radiation protection and dosimetry. It provides a great overview of health physics from radioisotope decay to non-ionizing radiation. The technical content is balanced with good practical examples. I would like to recommend this book for anyone studying health physics or preparing for the certification by the American Board of Health Physics.

Practial text to have
Physics of Radiology isn't as complete a text as Martin's, it seems more like a handbook than a physics text, but it is definitely useful and is full of examples that I can't find in other books. It's a little difficult to read straight through because of the visual format (it looks like it was written on a typewriter), but the examples are great references. I would have liked it if the authors used units more often, so that I could more easily adapt the examples but in all, it was a good investment.

I am a norwegian radiology student, and after searching through a heap of books on this subject, I found out this one was the best of the lot, even if it is outdated. Yes, an update would be nice..

good book
It's quite clear most of the time.It has basic physics in it so you'd never need to refer to another textbook for simple things that you've forgotten.I wish it was a little more updated though.It's limited in it's coverage of things like neutron therapy.But this book is so good, you could use it as a self study guide, almost.

New edition marred by typos and awkward editing
This new edition of the classic text is a disappointment, and it's use as a textbook is not recommended.

For this 3d edition, the list of typographical errors compiled by colleagues and myself stands at four pagesand growing.Errors can be found in the text, the chapter problems, andtheir solutions.Other solutions which are not clearly wrong mayinexplicably differ from your own solution at the second significantdigit.

Formulae are rarely derived from first principles.One exceptionis the change in wavelength for a photon undergoing Compton scattering froman electron, but, even here, a crucial equation (the relativistic energyinvariant) is conspicuously omitted, without which the final equationcannot be derived.The text does not even mention relativity in discussingCompton scattering.(The index does reference "Relativelyeffects" (sic) at pp. 4-11.)

Equations and formulae contain, attimes, an unnecessary proliferation of multiplication signs and units whichobscures the underlying physical principles and the simplicity of theequations themselves.Students are better served by a clear mathematicalpresentation of the underlying physics, rather than being dropped into themiddle of an obscure equation made even more so by the inclusion of severalconstants whose only purpose is to make the units work out.While any texton this subject must deal with the unavoidability of old and new units, mysuggestion is to derive the formulae from first principles and deal withthe units issue (which, after all, only amounts to including appropriateconversion factors) separately as examples or chapter problems.

Finally, the multiplication sign, "x", should be reserved forarithmetic and scientific notation, not symbolic mathematical equations. See, e.g., Equations (3.10), (4.31), (10.17), (10.32), etc., as exampleswhere the multiplication sign is unnecessary.The text also uses themultiplication sign even where numerical values are already set off byparentheses.The text's overuse of the multiplication sign gives the texta grade-schoolish flavor.

Good review, too many errors for 2nd edition
This is the second edition of this review text, yet there are numerous errors in the text and practice exams.As long as you know what is going on you can catch them all.Overall, useful in pointing out the trivia needed for ABR.

If you are a medical physicist or equivalent studying for Part I of the ABR exam or equivalent, this is a must have book. The Q&A are relevant and explained well.Overall great value for the money.

Superb and essential for physics boards
Using Huda as my primary source along with multiple years of Raphex questions and a single set of San Antonio review questions, I was able to do very well on the physics boards.

I would strongly recommend purchasing this book as all the material it contains is HIGH yield on the physics boards. Well-organized, concise, and easy to read.

Huda, raphex and old questions are all you need.In that order.Even the fine print and tables in HUDA should be memorized.

Slight correction
There is a seperate chapter in radiation safety, however this information is also scattered throughout the text. I would have preferred for all the material to be stuck in one section. Other people may prefer differently, but I find it difficult to remember all the factoids and magic numbers. Maybe a compromise solution would be a quick index section at the end listing all the "must know" numbers and formulas. ... Read more

Chapter 1 begins with a detailed overview of the anatomy and physiology of organ systems essential to our understanding of radionuclide entry to the body and deposition within internal organs. Detailed biokinetic models of inhalation, ingestion, and skin entry are then given in Chapter 2.
Chapter 3 addresses concepts of exposure and bioassay as needed in internal dose assessment programs.
Chapter 4 addresses the design and conduct of these programs, with specific emphasis on current regulatory and legal requirements.
