Book Description
There were no dry runs for Seawolves in Vietnam.
They put their lives on the line—every time.

In the Viet Cong-infested Mekong Delta, where small SEAL teams were always outgunned and outnumbered, discovery brought swift, deadly consequences— and a radio call for backup from the United States Navy’s very best: the Seawolves. The whir of approaching rotor blades signaled their arrival as they tore through the jungle at treetop level, gunners hanging off the skids, shooting M-60s, raining down their lethal mix of high explosives and incendiary death.

Seawolf Dan Kelly describes the origins of this extraordinary outfit. Put through a training program unlike any other, these men emerged to perform unparalleled feats of courage. The stories of these elite warriors capture America’s real heroes in all their guts and glory, and demonstrate why the Seawolves are known as the most successful and most decorated unit in the Vietnam War. ... Someone commented on Mr. Kelly's other Seawolves book, "First Choice", that it sounded like Navy propaganda. That's what I thought about this one.He really dumps on Army pilots in this book. And there's too much about the SEALs and not enough about the aircrew. It reads like fiction - I kept looking at the spine of the book to make sure that it was indeed a non-fiction book.I won't be buying "First Choice".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book On little known special group.
I usually don't write reviews on books as I read so many but this one was so good I needed to. I was not aware of this unit of the US. Navy until I read this book. It's outstanding. The author writes with a dash of humor along with great detail what it's like to be in combat under great stress to help out others in grave danger. The comradeship and love of his fellow companions. I have a collection of approx. 350 non-fiction war books and have read many more that I did not keep. I rate this one at the top for enjoyment and knowledge of a little known group. Dan,Thanks for a great book.I'm going to get the other as soon as possible. edwards190@sbcglobal.net

5-0 out of 5 stars Setting the record straight...
First I wish to congratulate the author for a pleasant and fast read.

Joe, you sir should have remained silent and kept us wondering about your obvious lack of historical knowledge. Instead you choose to make ridiculous statements and remove all doubt ........
First, US Navy Seawolves is written not about Mr. Kelly or his missions, it's about how and why the Seawolves were created and how they did there jobs. If you had read the Dan's first book you would know this.
You state the stories are not first hand accounts. From what area of your all knowing Seawolf and SEAL history is this statement based? Yes they are first hand accounts from the people that WERE THERE! Did you bother to read the preface?
You again state your expertise on Vietnam era weaponry. Which nomenclature is incorrect and what are you so sure about? Joe you obviously don't know anything about the SEALs or Seawolves.
"Myopic glamorization of death.....were you there? What part about WAR and reality don't you like? I think Mr. Kelly did a great job in conveying the circumstances and situations without excessive gory details. As to your concern of historical presentation of facts, I can assure you the accounts describes are true and confirmed by SEAL Team One personnel, Capt. Spencer, and the other people mentioned in the forward. If you had read it you would know this.
Regarding the rocket window account. It is stated as an accident in the book. Did you really READ the entire book?
Lt. John Luscher provides the first hand accounts of the actions in question during the Tet offensive. If you have issue with his history, call him and ask!
You state "As is the fact that the helicopters could fly 120 MPH three feet off the ground through the streets of Saigon and take corners at full speed. Sorry, but that all seems like quite a stretch." Well Joe, I WAS THERE and would be willing to offer you ride to see just what a UH1-B can't do.

As I stated above, I was there and give the author high marks for being as accurate and clear as possible. This book provides a third person view of what really happened to a group of brave soles that few have heard of and history for the most part chooses to forget.
If and when I get the opportunity to meet the author, I plan to shake his hand for those of us that never came home protecting people like you "Joe."

1-0 out of 5 stars Reads like fiction
I bought the book because I wanted to know more about the Navy's helicopter gunship role. There is some good information in the book about the birth and day-to-day operations of the HAL-3 warriors. Oddly, however, half of the book consists of stories of SEALs fighting in the jungle. These stories are obviously not first-hand accounts. The stories of the Seawolves' exploits seem to be word-of-mouth as well. Some of the nomenclature of the weapons is consistently incorrect. There's a picture of the author with one of the Seawolf choppers and a crew member in the book but the only place where it's even alluded to that he was a Seawolf is on the back cover. Odd that there's no first-person information on the group and that the book has such an outsider's feel to it.

I guess the thing that bugs me is that the book seems more like a collection of war stories that were told to the author by a few individuals. There doesn't seem to have been much research involved in preparing the book. I don't mean to take anything away from these great men and what they accomplished but this book seems to be a myopic glamorization of death. There are many good books out there but this is written like more like an action novel than a historical presentation of facts. A previous reviewer said it very well when he said it's like Rambo using a typewriter.

To provide some examples, the Seawolves in the book never miss anything. They can fire rockets in specific windows every single time, land them on top of walls that NVA soldiers are climbing over and the door gunners can pick off running troops in streets; all while the pilot is jinking the chopper around the sky. Every combat action mentions bodies being blown to pieces and, during the coverage of the inital Tet offensive into Saigon, Kelly says that the gunners shot NVA troops to pieces while they were in hand-to-hand combat with our Special Forces troops. Kind of hard to believe. As is the fact that the helicopters could fly 120 MPH three feet off the ground through the streets of Saigon and take corners at rull speed. Sorry, but that all seems like quite a stretch.

If you've served in the military or even studied military history at all, you may find it hard to tell what may even be factual. I just looked at the forward again and he thanks a couple of people for telling him stories at a reunion and in similar settings. That's a good reference source but in and of itself doesn't make for a well researched book.

The bottom line is that it lacks authenticity and doesn't do the Seawolves justice. Reading like fiction, it's hard to know what to and what not to believe. In my mind, believing something false is worse than not knowing at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Read
Very compelling book. I had a difficult time putting it down. My friends have read it and they agree it's non-stop action. I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes action/war stories. I just ordered Daniel E. Kelly's other book about the Seawolves. I see from this site it should be just as good. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for all rotorcraft engineers
As an aerospace engineer I have read many books on rotorcraft and I mustadmit that this is the most up to date and useful text on rotorcraft that Ihave had the pleasure to read. There are many aspects of the text thatstand out, however the one I found most useful, especially as a graduatestudent, was that the equations are derived from engineering basics and areaccompanied by clear explanations of the principles involved. The text andequations are also supplimented by clear diagrams that serve to enhanceunderstanding of the more complex topics covered. All in all a great bookand one that I would highly recommend to both rotorcraft students andpracticing engineers alike. ... Read more

Book Description
Based on audiotapes he recorded during the war and sent home to his family, Randy Zahns Snake Pilot recounts his experiences flying AH-1 Cobra helicopters during the Vietnam War. First deployed in Vietnam in 1967 and loaded with a formidable arsenal of weaponry, the Cobra was the first helicopter designed from inception as an attack aircraft. It dramatically changed the nature of the war in Vietnam by offering the Army, for the first time, its own powerful and highly accurate weapons platform for close-air-support missions.

Randy Zahn arrived in Vietnam shortly before the 1970 U.S. invasion of Cambodia, one of the most impressive demonstrations by the Cobra in the war. He describes his stunning transformation from a naive, middle-class teenager from southern California to a hardened killer during his tour in Vietnam. Unlike the pilots who flew the fast-moving strike jets, Zahn experienced the war up close and personal, witnessing the grisly effects of the Cobras firepower on enemy soldiers. The author does not glorify killing but rather explains in sharp relief the kaleidoscope of emotions associated with combat: fear, revenge, hate, remorse, pity, and even ecstasy. He captures many of the ironies and nuances inherent in Vietnam, especially during the final years of the conflict. Zahn displays a sensitivity rarely found in memoirs written by battle-hardened warriors. This human element, combined with the vast amount of archival research and interviews with members of his former unit, ensures that Snake Pilot will become the definitive account of the role helicopters played in Vietnam. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Should Be Called "Snake Pilot: Missing Home & Whining About it in Vietnam"
Sure, everyone's going to hate me when they read this, but maybe I'll save someone like me from reading this. After reading Low Level Hell by Hugh Mills (couldn't put it down!), I thought I had to read Snake Pilot. Now I know that I could've skipped it. I am sure that war is hell to go through, that people miss their families, that the Army doesn't always take care of their own, etc, etc. Having said that, this account is really a lot more about having a lame time in Vietnam than "Flying the Cobra Attack Helicopter in Vietnam". I was really looking for more operational info, mission sorties, weapon load outs, hair raising tales, things like that. The author seemed to overlook most of that though. Maybe he was trying to spare the casual reader the technical mumbo-jumbo, and make it more about his personal demons. Just not what I wanted to read about though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book about the war
This book would make a great movie.... The way it is written makes you feel like you are out there with him... I believe I've read about every book written about the war and this is one of my favorites. The Author has a very good way of telling a story of a small group of young men doing a job that not many people could accomplish in a war zone.

5-0 out of 5 stars 16's son
Randy sent a copy with a very personal message and signature to my mom back in the states, upon finally recieving it here in Iraq I read it cover to cover closing it only to go on mission. It brought back a lot of memories of stories my father, Charles Frazier, used to tell me about the days in Tay Nihn, Phouc Vihn and all the insanity of losing friends. Being at war myself, I really connected with a lot of the stories. It was a great book deeply personal, full of the heartache of Vietnam.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
Evidently, the publisher's printing press has a maximum number of pages that it can print in a book of this size. Regrettably, Randy was forced to cut major portions from the original manuscript that detailed more than the actions of a cobra pilot.

In spite of this, Randy has completed the impossible task: He has documented the details correctly, and has also caught the tone, captured the frustration, and has put into writing what it was like to be a very young cobra pilot in Charlie Troop, 1/9 Cav.

This is personal. This is a personal account; with all of the personal feelings and interactions that one is expected to have in combat. He has not blown his personal, the troop's, nor the 9th Cav's exploits out-of-proportion (like another author has), and has tried his best to describe the unit as it was.... a great Troop in the highly recognized 9th Cavalry, "doing it all like it was supposed to be done" in Nam. As such, the good and the not so good are both reported as fairly as any human being in combat can. When you are done reading his excellent book, you will no doubt have assimilated his personal feelings for what it was like to be a "Snake Pilot."

5-0 out of 5 stars Remarkable Book, Remarkable Man
I have gotten to know Randy and his family because they are neighbors of our son, a U. S. Air Force pilot in Anchorage.
Randy is the real deal, as a storyteller, a helicopter pilot, a husband and father, and a loyal friend to our son and his family.
If you know Randy at all, you know he puts his heart into everything he does. This book is no exception.
It tells a story that is so gripping and so human, it could not be fiction. That said, I must add that this book is not for everyone. Do not read it unless you want to know what really happened.
It is a tough read that pulls no punches. It names names, recounts vicious combat in great detail, re-creates helicopter missions with heart-pounding veracity, and makes the reader share the confusion, grief, terror, bravery, deep and abiding friendships, vulgarity and, yes, even the humor, of Randy's year as a "snake" pilot. In short, it is unforgettable, just like its author. ... Read more

Book Description
Provided in this text, for both the student and the practicing helicopter aerodynamicist, is the information necessary to analyze the performance of an existing helicopter or to participate in the design of a new helicopter. This information includes the derivation of the theory behind the various methods of analysis, appropriate experimental data to correlate and supplement the theory, and charts that permit rapid analysis. A special attempt is made to relate helicopter aerodynamics to airplane aerodynamics for those who are making the transition. The first six chapters are devoted to the various aspects of helicopter performance. Chapters 7, 8, and 9 cover stability and control. The final chapter presents the tradeoff considerations that the engineer must face during the preliminary design phase to ensure both good performance and good flying qualities. In Appendix A, an "Example Helicopter" is defined and is consistently used throughout the book to illustrate! , by numerical calculations, the application of the analysis. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent starting point. Great book
I really enjoyed the book.Read it from cover to cover, then again, before making the plunge and buying my first heli.
The book is somewhat outdated on a few things (gyroscope, radio gears), but give the newcomer a good understanding of what it takes to build and fly RC helicopters. As the title says, it only covers the basics, but does a pretty good at that.

3-0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed with this book
I found this book too basic. Most of the book is about choosing the right equipment. There are only a few chapters on flying.I found alot of this information by searching Deja News and reading rec.models.rc.helicopter.

This book is very well setup and organized for the beginner in mind.It does not assume that you know everything, and by the end of the book, you'll know enough to finally fly a helicoptor. However, the tech info is slightly outdated (1995), but it is still very helpful.I'd stronglyrecommend it.I'd also recommend getting Milt's Helicopter videos too! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars As close to being there as you can get...
An authentic, engrossing account of a life lived in a difficult profession. From his humble beginnings as a new pilot (all helicopter pilots start out humble, the machine won't let you begin any other way), Fleming walks you through the early events that shaped his character, and would stand him in good stead as he embarked upon a life of calculated risk taking. There are two rescues in the book that will literally have you on the edge of your seat, one as a young pilot and another as a seasoned pro. I don't recall reading anything that comes close in authentically describing how man and machine can literally fly into into the face of peril, to save the life of a stranger. Heroic acts are not always spontaneously undertaken by unlikely people, some individuals spend their lives risking their own safety for others. Fleming truly deserves the title Hero.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Story, well written
I enjoyed this account by someone "who's been there."
Col Fleming gives a detailed and interesting account of what rescues by the Air Force are all about. The author places us in the aircraft with him and relates the joys and frustrations of rescue work.I would liked to have seen a little more on the PJs actions, but I understand the focus was on the author's "adventures as a helicopter rescue pilot."

Kudos Col for the insight from a rescue pilot's perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Gripping, real life drama
I read all manner of books but there is nothing quite so completely satisfying as reading a true-story page turner that reads like a novel. Heart of the Storm is just that. Utterly captivating and at the same time educational, the book reveals, in high speed drama, the life and experiences of a small group of helicopter rescue people most of us never have the misfortune of encountering but, but after reading this, may wish we could. Each chapter is prefaced with an account of the large scale events of the times which helps place us in the book, and is briefly anecdoted with personal insights and family life that make the journey Col. Edward Fleming takes us on all the more meaningful and poignant. I don't know why this book hasn't yet been made into a movie but I'd be willing to bet it will be. It most certainly should be.

5-0 out of 5 stars AReal Story by a Real Warrior
A super story about real life heroes doing the daily business of protecting the nation both here and abroad.Col fleming tells it all as an oberver and a participant. His stories are not embellished for the reader, nor do they point to him as the central heroic figure. They do provide the reader with a look into a world that is boring and thrilling at the same time; deftly describing the tedium of daily squadron life as it gives way to the breakneck speed and physical demands of search and rescue over water.

This book is full of heroes... and a few malcontents, imcompetents and villains. He bravely steps up to describe the politics of the national guard.Where officers may be elevated for political reasons despite their shortcomings. His criticism is not couched in the whining of a man dissapointed by his leaders. It is a thoughtful observation of the things that go awry, even to the best of us.His determination to stay with his unit, then to move forward despite rejection, criticism and professional "second guessing" speak more about his character than the eagles on his shoulder or the ribbons on his chest.

Col Fleming reminds me of the ubiquitous "Old Sage" in every military unit. The Colonel or Master Sergeant who regailed there charges with the "old corps" stories of past glory and disappointment. These stories, often funny, sometimes tragic were tinged with morals and lessons to be learned and incorporated into the professional and personal lives of their young officers, NCOs and airmen. In an axiom that defines military men and women through time, the good ones learned there lessons from the Old Sage, the bad ones learned them the hard way.

Col Fleming has taken us all into his world and through his writing we come away with a deeper sense of gratitude and understanding for the people who stand in harm's way for us.

A Real Warrior sharing his world... an outstanding book

5-0 out of 5 stars So Exciting It Reads Like the Best Fiction - but All True
In Heart of the Storm, Col. Fleming shows that he is as adept at writing about his lifetime of thrilling rescues as he was at performing them. What a career, and what a book!A work of fiction couldn't cover more high profile adventures - rescues he pulled off during the Perfect Storm, at the South Pole, in the Gulf War, just to scratch the surface. But it's not fiction. He really did it, risking his life to save perfect strangers more times than I could count.I don't have the patience to read many books, but this one wouldn't let me put it down. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Great Handbook!
Since this was the first book I have read regarding how helicopters fly i cant really give you a accurate rating. Although i can say that I did learn a hole lot of information. The pictures and graphs that accompanied the text goes together very well. There were a couple principles that the writers seemed to rush threw (but nothing Google couldn't solve)and others that still left me in question. I'm assuming that book was designed to coincide with a instructor. I was recommended "Principles of Helicopter Flight" by a friend pilot of mine upon completion of this book. Now anxiously waiting for it in the mail.

4-0 out of 5 stars Something one should start reading with.
I agree with those who said that book ain's something outstanding.
It's a good teaching book for rookie student, don't expect anything more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Resource
The FAA's Rotorcraft Flying Handbook gives you such an extensive look at the science, flying techniques, basically any knowledge you need to fly a helicopter or other rotorcraft. The diagrams make it much easier to visualize the subject matter. It is a great read.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Reference for Flying Helicopters
This is, by far, the best reference book for learning to fly helicopters. Not only does it explain all the aerodynamics and maneuvers, but it does so with diagrams and explanations that are actually EASY to understand. I've been a helicopter pilot for 8 years now, and I still occasionally turn to this book to refresh my knowledge before taking a Part 135 check ride.

5-0 out of 5 stars The comprehensive view
The "Rotorcraft Flying Handbook" does not actually teach you how to fly but the closest you can come to it. It takes every aspiring and already accomplished heli-enthusiast through the quite comprehensive world of rotating wing aeronautics.
It makes it both interesting and informative, scientific and practical, easy and demanding and leaves you with a remaining strong wish to get down to business by getting into the pilot seat and fly.
A great book!

From its first use in military operations, during a rescue mission behind enemy lines in 1944, to its crucial role in Vietnam, to the Black Hawk combat copters in the current war on terror, the helicopter changed the face of aviation-and the face of warfare. Whether they are bringing supplies and medical help or coming to the rescue of trapped soldiers, the modern battlefield could not function without them. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Impressed
Although this book reflects considerable research there are glaring flaws in that research. It is confusing at times and poorly written, because it is full of typographical errors and conflicting and confusing data.I am intimately familiar with two of the stories related in this book and one of them is fairly accurate while the other one has many inaccuracies. I served two tours in SEA in Rescue helicopters and I know a thing or two about the subject matter. It could have been an excellent book if the author had hired a proof reader and considered finding more corroboration for some of the material.Otherwise, it is a great summary of the important role of helicopters in military aviation.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Author - A Great Book
I've known Bob Dorr as a friend for about a decade or more.He and I both share a passion for aviation and aviation photography.Bob, however, goes beyond passion when he writes books. His unique ability is to write books that puts readers into the cockpit of helicopters or other aircraft. You feel exactly what other crews have felt while flying missions. Bob's amazing knowledge of aircraft and history and his dogged research makes for truely unique books.

I enjoy Bob's books and encourage others to try them out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Belongs on the shelf of everyone interested in military aviation history
Dorr's "Chopper" belongs on the shelf of everyone interested in military aviation history and the men who were part of it. Dorr interviewed more than 75 pilots and crewmen and these individuals come to life as their remarkable stories are told in this very readable book.

"Chopper" is laid out chronologically. It starts behind enemy lines in Burma in 1944, when a young American pilot named Harman and a mechanic named Phelan flew a Sikorsky "R-4" helicopter on what was apparently the first ever U.S. military helicopter rescue. From here on out, the role played by "whirlybirds" in almost every major U.S. military operation is examined, including: air rescue missions during the Korean War, troop airlift operations in Vietnam, heliborne assaults in Afghanistan and helicopter attacks in Iraq.

I liked "Chopper" because it lets each pilot, mechanic, and crewman tell his story in his own words, and this makes for a readable, entertaining, and often exciting journey through history. All the services get their due as well---Army, Air Force, Navy and Marine helicopter pilots and aircrew are all part of Dorr's narrative.

From what I can tell, "Chopper" also is a true "first" in the history of book publishing: the first book to compile first-person accounts of helicopter pilots and crews who flew military rescue and combat missions; the first book to tell the comprehensive story of military helicopter operations from World War II to the current war on terror; and the first book to combine these personal histories with technical data on each helicopter flown or crewed.

General readers, amateur historians, and professional researches will find this book well worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Chopper
I own and have read a number of books by military author and historian, Robert F. Dorr.Chopper is, by far, the best.

Starting with "eggbeaters" in Burma and continuing through the "snake" in Iraq, Dorr lets the pilots and crews tell their own stories. The stories include a father-and-son combination as well as the memories of fixed-wing aircraft pilots suddenly assigned to fly helicopters. As the pilots and crews recount their experiences, the humor of military personnel in tough situations spreads through the pages.

Dorr has amassed an amazing collection of photographs that accompany the narrative, making it easy and fascinating to follow the development of helicopters from 1945 to the present day.Chapter sidebars telling the reader who's who add to the readability.

This book is a pleasure to read.I recommend it without reservation.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Great book on the history of America's helicopter missions. Awesome stories about some of our most complex military operations in our history. Robert Dorr hits the mark and his thorough research is apparent. Thanks Robert for being accurate and getting it right!! We appreciate it! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best introduction to helicopters available
This book has long been the standard - and best - introduction to helicopters and other rotary-wing aircraft. First principles are simply and accurately presented, then built upon to provide an interesting, well presented exposition on these fascinating aircraft. Fay covers rotary-wing aircraft development from its beginnings to show how we have arrived at the present-day helicopter.

Highly recommended. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Book Description
This volume is an excellent introduction to the aerodynamics of helicopters. Basic Helicopter Aerodynamics provides an account of the first principles in the fluid mechanics and flight dynamics of single-rotor helicopters. The text is intended to provide, in a short volume, an introduction to the theory of rotary-wing aircraft for use by undergraduate and graduate students, while providing a detailed description of the physical phenomena involved. The text assumes that the reader already has some knowledge of differences between the fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft. Many diagrams, drawings, graphs, and representative sets of data augment the text. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars If you can't get the basic facts right...
... how are we supposed to believe your theories that are harder to substantiate?

The litany of errors is hilarious.
Davis-Monthan AFB in Tuscon, AZ is alternately named "David Monthan," "Davis Munson," and "David Munson."Any road map could've provided the correct information.
Ft. Indiantown Gap in PA is similarly renamed about 3 different times.

Among the most amusing contention are the 30,000 "UN troops" stationed in Barstow, CA.First, Barstow doesn't have the water supply to support the 22,000 people that do live there.Second, the "UN troops" were probably soldiers from nearby Ft. Irwin, who wear different uniforms because their job is to portray the bad guys for units who come there to train (and there are fewer than 2500 of them).Third, why Barstow? What are they going to do, take down Las Vegas? And would anyone miss it if they did?

The best of all, though, is the cargo train of New World Order UN vehicles travelling through the western states.Keith claims they are "BMP-40s."They are quitely clearly Canadian Grizzly armored cars and M113 personnel carriers.Had anyone bothered to compare the timing of this train and the training schedule at the National Training Center, they would've known that the Canadians had a regiment of troops training with the Americans and these were the Canadian vehicles going home. When "Soldier of Fortune" debunks your cornerstone theory and dismisses it as the ravings of a right-wing lunatic, you know you're in trouble.

The Russian tanks seen on flatbeds near Gowen Field, ID and El Paso, TX?Probably going to the local weapons ranges to be shot at, since we've been using Russian tanks for target practice for decades, to test the effectiveness of our own weapons.

All in all, this is worth reading for the humor in it.But not worth spending money on.Unfortunately, there's no lower rating you can give than one star, but this one deserves to be in the negative.

3-0 out of 5 stars The future under a New World Order.
I approach this book as an outsider to this genre.I'm not big conspiracy theory buff.I'm not a survivalist.Nor am I a die-hard political fanatic.Like most Americans, I go about my life vaguely aware of what's happening in our government.Given that, I went into this book with an open mind.

Jim Keith, who I find after some research, was one of the leading writers in government activities. With Black Helicopters Over America he raises some interesting questions. What is our military doing? What exactly does the government have in mind for our future? What part does our government play in the political machinations of the United Nations?

Keith lays out the plans for a New World Order. He describes an international police force under U.N. direction. He shows the groundwork for the disarmament of the people and the rights that we could lose in the new world state.Keith also describes a future of concentration camps for those that would speak out against the New World Order.

Black Helicopters is a straightforward book laden with factual events and policies. However, though the events and policies may be factual, the context and details of those entries can sometimes seem questionable. As with most any issue, facts can be arranged to display the picture the writer wants to be seen.

The material in the book is a bit dated.Even though it was published in 1994, events in the book date back as far as the 1950s.Most of the events presented are from the 1970s.This in itself softens the credibility of the text. While writing this review, I did find out that Keith published a follow up book in 1998 titled Black Helicopters II : The End Game Strategy.I would imagine that the follow up takes the reader current, up to 1998.It may be worth the time for interested parties to read this book to see if Keith presents more recent events that would add credibility to his arguments.

If anything, Keith does present enough information to make the reader think. In fact, Keith urges the reader to step back and take at look at the information that is available. In my opinion, the underlying point of Black Helicopters is: To make educated decisions based on researched facts and to understand your government and what it is doing. It is something to think about.

1-0 out of 5 stars Propaganda for idiots, filled with factual errors
It is such a shame amazon.com doesn't allow for a "bomb" or "zero star" rating, because if ever a book merited one, this would be it.

A friend of mine gave it to me as a joke gift, and I immediately found all the timelines about cattle mutilations, black helicopters, and other urban (rural?) legends to be slightly less interesting than reading the phonebook.

Factual errors include descriptions of the AH-64 Apache helicopter as a "troop transport" (it's an attack helicopter and it cannot hold any troops at all), a reference to the military base at "St John, Canada, near Montreal" (the town is called St-Jean-sur-Richeleu and there hasn't been a base there for years, now it's just an army language school), and descriptions of helicopter crews wearing cowboy hats (what, no helmets or intercom headsets?)...

3-0 out of 5 stars Opening chapter of book deals with cattle mutilations!
For those who want to know more about the relevance of cattle mutilations related to "secret government" machinations, you should appreciate that Jim Keith sought to reveal that by opening this book with discussions of journalist ED SANDERS, who has very importantly coveredcattle mutilations in the context of secret government ops likely involvingdevelopment of biologicals, and that many cattle mutilations were diagnosedby veterinarians as having LOCALIZEED CONCENTRATIONS of CLOSTRIDIA.

Keithopens this important work by having the reader seek to know more! You willdiscover Keith's incredible ability to ferret out the dark side of theGlobalists....and how some of Keith's books reveal much more about secret"underground" biologicals developments for the "NEWORDER".This book has the opening chapter dealing with cattlemutilations, so that should tell you something about what Keith hasuncovered! CLOSTRIDIA, per DOD-docs presented by RN Joyce Riley reveal thatKeith is on the right track! Jim Keith was quite nervous in revealing onthe ART BELL show that CLOSTRIDIA was related to strange cattlemutilations, despite all the rest of the "entertainment"regarding that topic....and this book will provoke you to research moreabout WACO, et al!

4-0 out of 5 stars 'New Order ', Malthusianism Protocols, & Cattle Mutilations?
To those of you unfamiliar with Jim Keith's books, you will appreciate Keith's incredible facility to see beyond the fact-ridden, and extrapolate hidden agendas within government enterprises, as in this book, you will note that he opens with review of jounralist Ed Sander's insights into themeaning of CATTLE MUTILATIONS within the context of first appearing veryclose to military base in Colorado, and why Keith dared to mention on hisguest appearance on ART BELL talk-show the relevance of many cattlemutilations having been diagnosed with CLOSTRIDIA, and what that microbemeans for BIOLOGICALS productions, as noted by famed journalist, RN JoyceRiley of American Gulf War Veteran's Association... andwhy this news is being suppressed, and why JIM KEITH's books have so muchmerit in understanding GLOBALISM and all sorts of "hiddenagendas".Read ALL of Jim Keith's books, before you think this is allmadness and sheer nonsense! JIM KEITH has lots more to say about the"New Order" and the devious machinations ensuing from very greedypeople.Keith has tried to expose the nefarious nature of manypsy-ops--READ ON! ... Read more
