Product Description
Part of a series concentrating on fundamental aspects of design and measurement in electronic engineering, this book is directed towards the reader interested in obtaining an integrated understanding of the designing of computer-based measuring systems. Its aim is to give fundamental concepts of designing digital measuring systems. The designer must have a good understanding of microprocessor chips, memory chips and I/O chips, this understanding also extends to transducers for sensing inputs, actuators for control, interfacing devices for communication with other instruments. Recognizing the subject matter is in constant evolution, the author does not mean to present an exhaustive coverage of the wealth of modern technologies applied to the measurement field. Rather, he uses detailed examples and concrete situations to introduce the reader to the many possibilities microelectronic and computer technology afford, providing "measurement" with an ever increasing role in industrial domains. ... Product Description
Instrumentation is not a clearly defined subject, having a 'fuzzy' boundary with a number of other disciplines.Often categorized as either 'techniques' or 'applications' this book addresses the various applications that may be needed with reference to the practical techniques that are available for the instrumentation or measurement of a specific physical quantity or quality. This makes it of direct interest to anyone working in the process, control and instrumentation fields where these measurements are essential.

The latest edition of the Instrumentation Reference Book is a comprehensive and authoritative collection of technical information, which is of direct practical value to instrumentation and control engineers as well as all instrument technicians and users. It is also an indispensable addition to any academic library for the benefit of engineering and science students. Written by a collection of specialist contributors under the guidance of Walt Boyes, the third edition of this book (developed from the work originally published for more than 40 years as Jones Instrument Technology) has been updated to include chapters on the fieldbus standards, reliability, EMC, 'virtual instrumentation', fibre optics, smart and intelligent transmitters, analyzers, level and flow meters, and many more.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid way to learn practical instrumentation circuitry
This book is a consists of circuits for many of the instruments found in a typical EE undergraduate lab.The circuitry shown for each type of instrument progresses from the basic throughmore sophisticated &complex versions, where the accuracy and precision increases. The simplercircuits demonstrate a basic way of performing a measurement and then thelater circuits show how to improve the measurement process to reduce error, remove loading of the device under test, etc.If I were to teach arudimentary design course to Juniors or early Seniors, this would be a goodcandidate text, because it exposes the student to issues like circuitsensitivity, and though it doesn't contain any problems for the student theinstructor could easily marry design problems to the instruments presented. As a reference it's utility is in making the reader think through designissues (like those already mentioned) as well as others such as "Doesyour circuitry's accuracy vary depending on the range selected, because ofthe circuit topology?" ... Product Description

These proceedings collect the papers presented at the Eighth International Conference on Synchrotron Radiation Instrumentation, held in San Francisco, August 25th to 29th 2003. This conference takes place every three years, hosted by synchrotron research centers around the world. It is the principal meeting for developers of synchrotron radiation techniques. This particular meeting hosted 650 delegates and there are about 350 published papers in the proceedings. This proceedings series is an essential reference work for practitioners of the field. It documents the evolution and development of techniques. Many of the ideas that become standard practice in synchrotron radiation research appear first in these volumes, often with the definitive explanation and rationale for the technique in question.
