Product Description
This is the paperback version of the original multimedia CD introducing Spin Wave Technology. It has many minor updates and corrections. References to scientific research support information on the internet has been updated to remove dead links and add new links. In addition, this book contains 4 more preliminary chapters introducing magnetic levitation designs that utilize spin wave technology. This paperback version includes a table of contents, footnotes, bibliography and an index.

This is a book of informal research papers written by George J Bugh while investigating claims by many inventors and researchers who have built unusual electromagnetic devices said to produce anomalous energy output and even electrogravity effects.

Mr. Bugh is a senior staff aerospace electronics engineer with over 20 years experience. He spent the last 7 years studying these claims to determine if any could be valid and if so then to determine the source of the anomalous energy and the electrogravity effects.

According to classical electrodynamics, all electrically charged particles, like quarks and electrons, should radiate away energy from gyroscopic precessional motions and orbital motions. Bugh has come to the conclusion that they really do. However, all particles are also absorbing just as much energy from all other radiating particles.

The continuously absorbed energy equals the radiated energy and applies forces that move similar type particles into harmonious precesssional motions with each other. This results in a sea of electromagnetic standing waves among all matter in the universe.

It is this sea of standing waves rather than quantum probability waves that best account for the wave like nature of matter. Particles move to quantized states because of electromagnetic forces that keep particle motions synchronized with this sea of standing waves.

This is an interaction among all matter that Ernst Mach alluded to as necessary to cause matter's characteristic of inertia. Einstein called this Mach's Principle. Einstein studied Mach's ideas while developing his theory of General Relativity.

Using common sense and classical electrodynamics, Bugh explains how these particle spin interactions are possible even among compensating spins. Technology advancements are possible based on these particle spin interactions. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Unadulterated gibberish!
I bought this book on the basis of several reviews and I have to tell you that I feel thoroughly deceived! I feel so strongly about this that I will ask for my money back. This book is not worth the paper it is printed on let alone $49!

Here is a quotation from the Publisher's Note:
"The information contained in this book originated from files located on Mr. Bugh's personal computer when Vasant Corporation obtained copyrights to his work..." Unfortunately no review has made it clear that this are vacuous files, devoid of any science or scientific inquiry, but full of jumbled notions rattled off in an unintelligible chatter of ungrammatical English.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Helpful AT ALL!
This book has been a hinderance rather than a help in the development of my knowledge regarding spin waves.
The content in most chapters I read is scattered all over the place and all too repetitive with vague definitions of concepts which essentially must be grasped in order to understand the basics of the books' content.
Definitely not a beginners' book as you are required to sort out and sift through much information before taking it in, which becomes a real task with so much going on in this book.
The author does state that this is not really a book but rather a collection of his notes. This is obvious through the bad grammar used throughout the book. Unfortunately for me, wanting to obtain the knowledge, the grammar was so bad I could not extract it!
I really am disappointed it could not have been written in a more 'user friendly' manner, however I would consider buying a second version of the same book ONLY if it had been REVISED by someone with an intimate knowledge of teaching, grammar, book writing and the necessary spin wave theory.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Info - Less than Perfect Book - Buy it anyway
George J Bugh should have commissioned someone else to write this work. It lacks flow and often fails to build the knowledge base for what Bugh is attempting to convey. With this being said. The technical detal is astounding and I believe as an engineer George J Bugh is on track. If you have any intrest in Spin Wave's this book is a must but I would much rather have Bugh designing some of the devices and having others write about his success.

Note: I Purchased both the CD-Rom and the Text!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Clarification from the Vasant Corporation
The CD and Book are sold separately. A previous review made this confusing to some people.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Resource
I first heard about this book after doing a search on eBay for "free energy".This is a book containing 44 chapters. Each chapter generally consists of a research paper written by Mr. Bugh after he began writing his thoughts down regarding the nature of waves starting several years ago. They are quite scientific with math formulas and diagrams explaining his concepts, helping educate the reader while getting his points across. It is extensively indexed and contains literally hundreds of web page links for the savvy investigator desiring more in-depth research. He covers many concepts from the Charge Of An Electron, to Magnetic Waves, Anti-Gravity, and the Nature of Time.Unfortunately, all of Mr. Bugh's research are his theories alone, having made no actual devices himself. However, he does mention that others have made devices similar to what his research suggests. All in all, an interesting and thought provoking read, with tons of sources for further investigation. ... Product Description
Contrary to some opinions, electric motors are decidedly not part of an old-fashioned area of research. They are, in fact, the most popular machines of everyday life, and the number of types increase almost every year. Advances in materials engineering, power electronics, and control strategies along with energy and reliability demands continue to stimulate the development of exciting new technologies and applications. Ranking high among the most exciting of these technologies are linear synchronous motors (LSMs). Linear Synchronous Motors: Transportation and Automation Systems provides a comprehensive treatment of all types of brushless LSMs-their construction, electromagnetic effects, control, and applications. It explains the physics of hard magnetic materials, discusses permanent magnet and superconducting excitation systems, and addresses applications in factory automation and high-speed transportation systems.LSMs have better performance and higher power density than their induction counterparts, and they can operate with a larger mechanical clearance between their stationary and moving parts. Paying equal attention to the design and the applications of LSMs, Linear Synchronous Motors offers a unique opportunity to master the inner workings of LSMs, discover new research results, and keep abreast of their emerging applications. Electromechanical designers, electrical and mechanical engineers, as well as linear motor enthusiasts will welcome this broad and authoritative work to their reference collections. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A lot of useful information, let down by poor reproduction and editing
'Linear Synchronous Motors' is a worthwhile book on linear motors, with a strong bias toward the transportation and automation fields. There is much useful information here, the writing is reasonably clear and the explanations good.

The book is let down by the terrible quality of the reproduction and lackluster editorial checking. The reproduction resembles poor photocopying in many cases - I could have got a better result printing a PDF of it on an ordinary laser printer. This is annoying, as this book is not cheap. It also contains numerous small spelling errors; inexcusable with modern word processing; doubly so had the editorial checking been up to the mark.

I expect a book of this sort to have first class, clear printing with top-notch quality control and editing in evidence. This isn't up to that standard, which is a shame, as the content merits such care.

A good book, let down by a cheap publisher. Four stars for the technical content alone. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Why not monorails?
Anyone who has an iterest in urban development, transportation, or simply gets a kick from riding the monorails at Disneyland or Disney World will enjoy "Why Phoenix?". The book takes on a noteworthy issue that has been debated and discussed for years. But rather than provide lots of dullish facts and figures in a non-fiction or documentary report format, the topic is woven into a fictional story, thereby allowing characters working within the system to explain the benefits of this clean and appealing means of transport. The book is entertaining, yet thought-provoking. The reader may find themselves wondering why these sleek and quiet systems have not made their way more into the mainstream of our larger cities. Some answers to this question can be found within the story.
Civic leaders should read this book and embrace the message it conveys. There are numerous research links presented that will assist readers in finding more information on monorail and maglev transportation.
While the plot could have benefited from a bit more conflict between the characters, the book is an interesting read that should leave you asking the question "why not monorails?". ... Read more

From the supplier: Airports and traffic jams may no longer be around in the future if vertical take-off airplanes and magnetic levitation cars become commonplace. Also, it is possible that an integrated screen will be developed that would take the place of televisions, computers and videocassette players.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Solid Transportation Future
Author Joseph Vranich makes a strong case for high-speed rail networks in the USA.As he shows, a network of high-speed bullet trains along the East Coast network makes great sense. So would similar 220-mph bullet train networks in California (LA-SF, LA-Vegas), Florida (Miami-Orlando-Tampa), Ohio (Cleveland-Columbus-Cincinnati), and a Midwest system connecting Chicago to Detroit, St. Louis, Indianapolis, etc.Readers see why high-speed rail can help us avoid highway gridlock and air traffic jams.As many know, a typical 60-minute flight (say, St. Louis-Chicago) often takes four hours due to airport access, waits, delays, etc.Imagine zipping along by rail at 225-mph with wide seats, laptop ports, a spacious aisle, conference rooms, and dining cars, with total travel time well under two hours.Such reliable, efficient, high-speed systems have run successfully in France (TGV) since the early 1980's; it's popular success led many other nations like Germany (ICE), Spain (AVE), etc., to come aboard.Granted, these networks are not cheap to install, but they've proven a great investment over the long term; like our now-clogged interstate highways were back in the 1950's.

Since this now-dated book arrived in 1991, Germany, Britain, China, Italy, South Korea, Spain, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Taiwan have joined France and Japan with modern high-speed trains, France has greatly expanded her network (and increased her speeds), and Germany and China are now researching 300 mph magnetic levatation. Also, Argentina, Brazil, and Indonesia are looking to join the club. This book provides us with a solid look at an improved, reliable transportation future.

3-0 out of 5 stars Solid idea, but outdated
Ten years ago Mr. Vranich was on the cutting edge by suggesting supertrains for America. This book launched the $12 billion High-Speed Rail Act that is still pending in congress. But time has moved on. The trains of yesterday don't fit the NIMBY attitude of modern America. Future transportation will have to be clean, sustainable, safe, secure and -most of all- out of sight and sound for people living along the right-of-way. A good follow-up book will come out in April '03 called "Faster than Jet: A solution to America's long-term transportation problems."

2-0 out of 5 stars Pipedream Fantasy
Joseph Vranich presents a glowing, glossy image of a New America linked together with a web of high speed, high tech, high cost SuperTrains. Unfortunately his largely anecdotal story telling has little serious thought regarding the fundamental reason why high speed rail has a very limited future in the United States. There is a reason why Europe has trains and America has planes. Europe is smaller than America. The distances are shorter. Not only does this make a tremendous difference in travel times but it also makes a huge difference in cost. Vranich completely avoids the cost issue.

Not a detail.

Each mile of track for one of his supertrains costs between $30 and $50 million. Who is going to pay for his 1000 mile network. He doesn't say.

This is a significant oversight.

Basically, SuperTrains is an excercise in nostalgic dreaming. A very nice one, with lots of nice images. But it is a very foolish book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A well researched treatise on the future of mass transit
The arguments posited by Vranich for a U.S based high speed rail network are so compelling and logically formulated that before completing the book I became a member of an organization devoted to high speed ground transportation.Topics explored include the present state of U.S. passenger railroads (focusing on Amtrak) as well as failed high speed rail initiatives , the politics of mass transportation, the problems faced by a near-saturated automobile/aircraft transportation network, the cutting edge technology in high speed rail occuring in Europe, including the imminent unveiling of magenetically levitated trains (maglev) in both Germany and Japan and a scenario of a future with high speed rail. The author's vision is left somewhat incomplete however as he neglects to explore the logistics of how a high speed rail system will link with other forms of transportation (intra-city rail and/or automated guideway transit systems, in addition to cars/airplanes?) to hopefully develop a superior transportation infrastructure to what is currently in place. Overall though, this is highly thought provoking commentary on how a mode of transportation viewed by most as outdated is in fact our best option for safer, more efficient, environmentally sound and less energy intensive mobility for the 21st century.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good idea about trains
I just finished my Amtrak cross-america trip and was browsing for old fashioned train books in bookstore when I came acrossed this one.(Too bad you can't fumble thru book on amazon :) Differnt from other train books, this one explains the futuristic era of new rail system. The book concluded with a sci-fi like description of our future passenger rail system. It's nice to read a book that give you hopes and dreams. The book is so persuasive thatI'm curious to hear the arguments AGAINST supertrains, just to balance out the supertrain "propaganda" from this book. Informative and fun read. ... Read more
