Product Description
This readable, richly illustrated and remarkable book makes a case for the idea that an alien race left huge constructions on Mars -- known as the Cydonia Mystery -- evidenced by a mile long, human-like 'Mars Face' surrounded by pyramid structures. In the wake of JPL's Pathfinder Mission to Mars, The Case for the Face unifies the research and opinions of a remarkably accomplished group of scientists, including a former NASA astronaut, a quantum physicist who is chair of a space science programme, leading meteor researchers, nine PhDs, the best-selling science author in Germany, and the authors of every credential paper ever published on the Mars anomalies. This is the only book to synthesise the vast amounts of solid scientific research on the 'Mars Face' and is an elegantly constructed story of wonder, perseverance and revelation.Amazon.com Review
In 1976, NASA's Viking orbiters photographed thesurface of Mars and sent pictures back to Earth. What some people seein these pictures, a distinctly humanoid face, has been hotly debatedever since, prompting the question, "Are there artificial structureson Mars?" If you haven't heard of the face on Mars, then you haven'tbeen paying attention to the news about the photos taken by the recentMars Global Surveyor mission or Art Bell's late night radio talk showabout paranormal phenomena or even the covers of the supermarkettabloids. The face is nearly everywhere.

The Case for theFace examines the original NASA images using a battery ofdifferent techniques, from stereo imaging to fractal analysis, in aneffort to determine if the face is simply a trick of the light or astructure fabricated by an extraterrestrial intelligence. Rather thanhanding out unchallenged assumptions, The Case for the Faceexplains how the evidence is gathered, what tests are used foranalysis, and gives the reader a crash course in geometry, Martiangeology, and computer-image enhancement. The authors present a strongcase for the belief that the face, and many other structures in thearea, were artificially constructed. In doing so, they also make acompelling argument for opening a new era of manned space explorationand further investigation of this enigmatic portrait instone. --Brian Patterson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just Read the Book
Don't let your preconceived notions about what is possible and what is not possible prevent you from reading this book.It is objective and reasonable and quite possibly the best book on the subject I have read.Keep an open mind and understand the scientists who wrote this book just want a chance for a scientific study of the evidence, but the current climate at NASA is denying them the opportunity. How many other marvelous discoveries have been lost to us because of other people's closed minds? Why is it so impossible for people to believe there may have been an ancient civilization on Mars?We have them on Earth! They came from somewhere!Let them have their objective investigation, but don't close the door on the means to find out the truth, one way or the other. If the truth is stifled then we all loose out on what may be the most profound discovery of human history. We need to know one way or the other!

2-0 out of 5 stars Give Me a Break
I can drive to Utah and Arizona tomorrow and see over 1000 rockformations, in a 1-week trip, which all resemble something, from Snoopy onhis doghouse(near Sedona), to giant mittens(Monument Valley), to hugearches and phallic symbols(Arches Nat'l Park). Oh, and there are also amillion rocks that look like...uhhhhhh....nothing but ROCKS. Bigsurprise!

The truth is, human beings throughout history have some bizarreneed to look at things in the natural world(rock formations, clouds, etc)and somehow correlate them to man-made formations or animated objects. Whena rock or a volcano or a canyon or whatnot, especially in conjunctions withshadows, the right combination of light, and viewed from a specific angleor distance, looks like some kind of symmetrical man-made form, there is aword for this kind of phenomenon; COINCIDENCE. With the billions of rockson this world and other planets, I find it quite comical that people aredoofus enough to not realize that, given enough wind and rain and erosion,a LOT or rocks are going to look like something besides a rock.

4-0 out of 5 stars Sober and provocative cosmic wake-up call
"The Case for the Face" is a thoroughly sensible and compelling account of a small handful of resarchers with the intellectual clout to tackle an enigma mainstream science has labled "off-limits": thepossible existence of alien artifacts in our solar system.Thecontributors raise fascinating possibilities that we would be wise toexamine in depth.Validating the existence of probable artificialstructures on Mars is an opportunity we can't afford to miss through fearof offending the status quo.

3-0 out of 5 stars DRY, IMAGINATIVE and very FACTUAL
This book is a valuable tool and aid to anyone interested in obtaining certain information about the anomalies located on Mars. Some chapters are very interesting and provide compelling evidence for alien artifacts whileothers are very dry leaving the reader slightly bored. The book candefinitely be used as a research aid from the library, but I do notrecommend it for casual reading purposes.Although quite imaginative andinformative I believe there are probably better books to read on theMartian anomalies than this one.I would consider other sources beforechoosing to purchase this book.

Product Description
The primary mission of this current volume is to provide, in layman?s terms, a unique and passionate understanding of the amazing boom and bust cycles of our times. This is not a book about forecasting, but more concerned with presenting observations and facts about boom and bust cycles, and with establishing a deep understanding and awareness about this fascinating phenomenon. And given the fact that we are in the midst of one of the greatest technological revolutions in the history of the world, I sense that there is an urgency to come to a much greater understanding of how and when future boom and bust periods will emerge. Will cycles be longer or shorter in duration as we move forward into the 21st century? Is the Long Wave Cycle a myth or reality, and what is its connection to the Information Age Revolution? Major paradigm shifts in the industry sectors of energy, communications, travel, infrastructure, medicine and other fields are scheduled to transform our world in ways that we have only imagined in Hollywood. As these events unfold, global markets are going to react, and in many cases, irrationally to barrier-breaking technologies. As investors or analysts, it is very important to have convictions, strategies, systems and guideposts to follow when investing during these highly volatile periods in the markets. This current volume can serve as an important reference source during the rush and heat of boom and bust periods. Approached with an open mind, free of economic dogma, Bubble Markets and Boom ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Accurate. An Eye-Opener--
Bubble Markets and Boom & Bust Cycles is a must reading.Nevertheless, the book is informative and well thought out. It's appeal lies mainly as a curiosity of the ups and downs of the boom and bust cycles, witnessing events that are currently NOW taking into effect and an educational tool to keep up with the markets. A reputable author identifies the emerging market trends for this century.

The upswing, a downturn can only be waiting around the corner. Its timing and intensity in this day and age, market cycles are well-established phenomena. When the crash comes, the markets climb high leaving devastation in its financial crises occurring during peaks of cycles.

He focuses on several parts of the market cycle and what to expect. Most interestingly, the book is extremely relevant in today's high-tech era.

1-0 out of 5 stars I agree
As a Screenplay, this book gets three stars. As a book, one and as a Capoeira manual (I play Capoeira), none. This being said, Om-Ra-Seti has the germ of a really interesting story which could be made into a great action/martial arts picture.I would *love* to see the final battle envisioned here with all of the Orishas attending on the big screen - with the talents of a better writer.

9/21/10
I just saw a message from the author on another forum - looks like the book *was* originally intended as a screenplay.I'll stand by my original assesment: as a Screenplay, this rocks!Great story, just not translated well into book form.

5-0 out of 5 stars A speculative mystical event!
Science fiction and mysticism fused in a timeless spiritual embrace. Heroes and villains, conspiracies and revelations, are what best describe this compelling and all around off-the-hook novel. Capoeira possesses a sublime 'deepness'. It's author is a weaver of literary magic. He
tells several stories on many levels, while entertaining and informing the reader.

The world in which this epic journey unfolds, is for some, already here, and for others, not too hard to envision. It's a place where the subculture of Extreme Combat, and the Battle Mania Brawls seen on Pay-per-view, have grown into the dominant sports attraction.

The people who populate this place of African themes and inner discovery, are important and multi-faceted. Is Ptah; the main character, an arrogant fighting machine, or is he a spiritual phenomenon, destined to pierce the veil of human consciousness? What of the Dogon Clan, his powerful family? And then there are the Akans. Arch rivals to the Dogons.

Capoeira is replete with symbolism, inner visions, and spiritual attainment. It is a speculative panorama. Like the Martial Arts that permeates It's pages, this book is fast paced and snags you immediately. It is a complete tale of epic proportions. The conclusion; mature and appropriate. Capoeira is simply, essential reading.

4-0 out of 5 stars Martial Arts and More
CAPOEIRA takes us on a journey through time, where past and present collide in a page turning series of events. It is 2010 and the World Free Style Martial Arts Association has gained a huge fan base and following and has brought martial arts to a whole new level ofpopularity. The main character in the story, Ptah, is the champion of the welterweight division and part of the Dogon Clan. The Dogons are part of a long family line of people with special spiritual powers and abilities.Soon readers learn that the Dogon Clan is not without enemies, and that Ptahs journey to remain a champion will delve deeper than his bouts in the ring.Indeed they become part of his deeper journey into mysticism and to further his spiritual development.Ptah, along with the other members of the Dogon Clan, are involved in the universal fight against good and evil, but they have to fight these battles in both the physical and supernatural realms.

CAPOEIRA is a book that has a little of everything.Drama, suspense, and fantasy are all wrapped up in this interesting story. For fans of martial arts, this book is a must read, as the author takes us to a time when martial arts is a sport that can gather arena size crowds like football or boxing can today. The author carefully weaves in a lot of information about various types of martial arts and incorporates it into the story so well that readers who are not already fans will learn a lot, but still enjoy an otherwise fast paced story. The elements of fantasy and spirituality add additional depth to the story while the drama and suspense will keep you turning pages. My only complaint was that at times the author seemed a bit repetitive. This is a must read for martial arts fans and a book many others will truly enjoy.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Product for the Big Screen
This novel is simply a product for the "big screen," because the settings, and the energy are absolute vehicles.Today, most young people (all races) are into the martial arts and the struggles of physical fitness and survival. The energy in "Capoeira" is profound, and it captures the black family as a strong institution. This is significant, because family structures prevail againist the odds for the betterment of society. Therefore, people can benefit in many ways from this interesting story.

Product Description
If you are interested in how researchers plan to search the heavens for signs of intelligent life, you should have this book.SETI 2020 is a new, and remarkably comprehensive study of how scientists busy with the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI) should direct their efforts between now and the year 2020.Distilling the work of dozens of top SETI experts, astronomers, and technology mavens, this book gives an overview of the problem of finding evidence for extraterrestrial technologies, and how to best address it.New radio telescopes consisting of large arrays of relatively small antennas are proposed and detailed. So are new types of antennas that can survey the entire sky at once.Of particular interest is the extensive treatment of optical SETI - the search for signals beamed our way using high-powered, pulsed lasers or their equivalent.A book that's interesting for both the layman and the technically sophisticated, SETI 2020 is the definitive publication in this fascinating field. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Reality and SETI
SETI 2020 is essential reading for everyone with a serious interest in the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence or, indeed, radio astronomy in general. More than fifty of the World's leading experts contributed to this work which has been finely crafted into one coherent volume
Originally intended to encourage financial contributions-at which it has succeeded admirably-this book describes the historical development of the Institute's work and looks forward to methods which depend on currently developing technology. Reality is already catching up with its predictions, which shows how realistic the expectations of the Institute are.
Much of the book describes the science and technologies specific to the search, but there are also discussions about topics of wider interest such as the origins of the "Fermi Paradox", high-powered lasers, various ways of measuring time, and many others.

4-0 out of 5 stars Technically impressive, but not stirring
This book reports the recommendations of a scientific and technical working group that met periodically from 1997 to 1999 to chart the future of research and technology development for SETI, the scientific search for extraterrestrial intelligence. That group was assembled and funded by the SETI Institute, the leading institution in the field. The report focuses first on strategic objectives, then on search strategies and options for new telescope and computer designs.

This document was intended to be a landmark comparable to the visionary Project Cyclops report published in 1972.Technological advances since then -- particularly in computer technology -- clearly justified a fresh review. SETI 2020 recommends broadening the frequency range of searches to include optical and infrared wavelengths, looking for both continuous wave and pulsed signals, and using multiple beams per telescope in microwave searches. The report recommends that the SETI Institute undertake the development and construction of a One Hectare Radio Telescope, and an omnidirectional SETI system that could allow continuous, all-sky coverage for the low end of the microwave window. The Working Group also endorsed some existing strategies: using systems for both targeted searches and sky surveys, and focusing on beacons.

Nearly half of this book consists of technical appendices. The most intriguing of them is Jill Tarter's review of the Project Cyclops report from the perspective of 25 years later. Not only hastechnological advance improved our capabilities and widened our options; we also know more about the science involved.

Those readers with a serious interest in the technical means astronomers use to search for evidence of intelligence beyond the Earth will find this book very informative. It will tell most readers all they want to know about the technology issues, though less about the science. While the language is clear and straightforward, it lacks the stirring, visionary quality of the Cyclops report.Perhaps that is a sign that SETI has matured.Or it could be the result of drafting by committee. Those readers who are looking for an introduction to SETI or a general overview of that field should look elsewhere, particularly in view of the outrageous price. ... Read more

Cursed by the god who shares his name, Seti was an Egyptian king who lost everything; his name, his kingdom, even the man he loved more than anything in the world. For centuries he's waited in a dusty, forgotten sarcophagus, until Logan comes along. Logan is a graduate student who stumbles on Seti in the basement of a museum and accidentally awakens him. Logan figures any way he looks at it, a missing mummy is going to be bad for his career, so he takes Seti with him until he can decide what to do. He doesn't want to be accused to theft, but who's going to believe in a mummy coming back to life? Seti and Logan have a lot more to worry about than the modern day police. There's a group of scientists that want Seti for more than decoration and a vengeful god with an agenda to get Seti gone once and for all. Logan has to deal with all of that, but his biggest problem might just be Seti himself, who's trying hard to get into Logan's pants, and his heart. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Evening fluff!
This was a fun little read.It was short (only approx 200 pages), so it didn't take much time to get through. While I enjoyed the characters, the story would have been better if it were longer and more fleshed out.I loved the bits of historical information that the author snuck in.

Worth getting, but get it used, not full price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Weird and yet Lovely
Seti's Heart was a heard book to put down. Maybe its my longtime fascination with the world of Ancient Egypt or perhaps its the vivid imagery that Kelly put forth in this piece of literature. The book was hot and romantic at the same time. The modern twists to some of the more ancient characters had me laughing all evening. A lovely and erotic read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Seti's Heart
Fueled by vengeance and hatred, King Seti denounced his god Setekh for killing his lover Ashai. In retaliation, Setekh cursed Seti to remain mummified for five thousand years. Five thousand years later, Logan Ashton is working in the National Museum of Natural History for Dr. Lincoln Perry when he stumbles upon a sarcophagus with a mummy inside. After taking a peek, Logan decides to leave well enough alone.Seti's curse is broken and he comes to life ensuring that Logan is now officially in trouble. Seti still wants revenge against Setekh. While he figures out how to get back at him, he decides to claim Logan for his own. Logan is falling for Seti, but because of Dr. Perry's secret, there are thugs with guns chasing them. Even if they can keep from getting killed, do Logan and his ancient lover have a shot at a future together?

A mummy, several bad guys, a few really good friends, and really hot sex make Seti's Heart a great story. Logan is an average guy who finds himself in a most unusual predicament. Seti is stubborn, sexy, and very commanding. His ancient ideas collide with modern times and create some really amusing moments. Seti's Heart has angst, action, romance, and a really hot king. It's a fun story with a very clever and creative plot and some great characters. I loved it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Seti,s Heart
This one made you think , and it was a graet love story . I liked the way you got to see the city from his point of wiew , seeing the changes after so much time had passed . And the way he porteacted his lover.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well crafted and highly entertaining and imaginative M/M fantasy!
Kelly really has a flair for writing and it shows in "Seti's Heart".

This is not merely a M/M romance erotica. There is a well thought out and fast paced plot here with a well crated fantasy setting. What is more intriguing than an over 5,000 years old mummy waking up in contemporary NY, even if this plot is as old as time ? Not to mention that the mummy, King Seti, is such a hunk, with a touch of vulnerability. And of course pairing this hunk with Logan, a nerdy young assistant curator, is just the right ingredient for a hot romance. Both Seti and Logan are likable characters. Add to that Logan's closely knitted group of gay friends, some really bad guys all out to get Seti's blood, a hellish revengeful demonic god and a most amusing Osiris, King of Hell itself, we have a highly imaginative and entertaining fantasy, with some pretty hilarious moments. There are some sad moments too.

However I wish there are more chapters devoted to the development of Seti's and Logan's romance. Not at the expense of the plot of course, but a longer story as to me, this is first and foremost a love story between the majestic King and his newly found soulmate who is the replacement of a long lost love. ... High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Menmaatre Seti I (also called Sethos I after the Greeks) was a Pharaoh of Ancient Egypt (Nineteenth dynasty of Egypt), the son of Ramesses I and Queen Sitre, and the father of Ramesses II. As with all dates in Ancient Egypt, the actual dates of his reign are unclear, and various historians claim different dates, with 1294 BC - 1279 BC and 1290 BC to 1279 BC being the most commonly used by scholars today. The name Seti means "of Set", which indicates that he was consecrated to the god Set (commonly "Seth"). As with most Pharaohs, Seti had several names. Upon his ascension, he took the prenomen mn-m3't-r', which translates as Menmaatre in Egyptian, meaning "Eternal is the Justice of Re." His better known nomen, or birth name is technically transliterated as sty mry-n-ptḥ, or Sety Merenptah, meaning "Man of Set, beloved of Ptah". Manetho incorrectly considered him to be the founder of the 19th dynasty. ... Read more

Excerpt: The Fermi paradox is the apparent contradiction between high estimates of the probability of the existence of extraterrestrial civilizations and the lack of evidence for, or contact with, such civilizations. The age of the universe and its vast number of stars suggest that if the Earth is typical, extraterrestrial life should be common. In an informal discussion in 1950, the physicist Enrico Fermi questioned why, if a multitude of advanced extraterrestrial civilizations exist in the Milky Way galaxy, evidence such as spacecraft or probes are not seen. A more detailed examination of the implications of the topic began with a paper by Michael H. Hart in 1975, and it is sometimes referred to as the Fermi-Hart paradox. Another closely related question is the Great Silence even if travel is hard, if life is common, why don't we detect their radio transmissions? There have been attempts to resolve the Fermi paradox by locating evidence of extraterrestrial civilizations, along with proposals that such life could exist without human knowledge. Counterarguments suggest that intelligent extraterrestrial life does not exist or occurs so rarely that humans will never make cont...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=11579 ... Read more
