5-0 out of 5 stars Very Goodinformation
This is a very good book of information. Lots of pictures for reference. I received it as a birthday present and could not be happier. The only complaint I have is it was printed in China. Isn't there any printers in the good old USA ?

5-0 out of 5 stars Smith & Wesson catalog is a must have for any buyer or collector
This book offers a wealth of information that will highly educate you to all guns made by S&W.

It is handy to have for reference. You can make informed buying decisions at a glance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Standard Catalog of Smith&Wesson
If you are into guns,Smith&Wesson firearms to be exact, this is a must read.Has all the serial numbers with date of manufacture and all the model numbers with a review and specification of each model.A very thick book with everything an avid gun collector would need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended
If you're even remotely interested in Smith & Wesson firearms then this is the book for you.
Hands-down the most all-inclusive and interesting read on these fine guns I have read to date.
All-color pictures throughout make it worth twice the cover price, but don't tell the publisher.
Written in an un-pretentious style by two obvious "gun-guys" makes it an easy and enjoyable read.
Get it....you won't regret it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Core Reference For Architects
It's Considered the first Book inversion $ For Any Construction Professional.Very Updated edition, a book of Substantial content, with construction codes approach. Easy and clear drawings, charts and images. Be sure to place it on a heavy duty shelf because its knowledge weights a bit...

4-0 out of 5 stars new format is good and bad.
I'm self-employed now and I needed my own copy, so I purchased the current edition. It is not at all familiar to me as I've used the older editions for a couple of decades now. I used to be able to flip through and find exactly what I needed. Now, I need to look through the index to get the info I need, it's a pretty radical restructure. That said, the information is laid out very well, and I would say that it is an improvement over the old at least in the details. It is still disappointing that it is such a chore to navigate. There is much new information, and I am pleased to see inclusion of green issues in a rigorous way.

4-0 out of 5 stars Architectural Graphic Standards
I had seen earlier editions of this publication and was impressed with the levels of detail and the wide ranging technical information enclosed. I have borrowed a copy on occasion to source specific information not covered by our regular building code information, and have successfully used it to show compliance and get a good working result. My only criticism would be that the later publication which relies on cumputer drawn images rather than the hand drafted drawings of the earlier version I was used to is not as easy to read, nevertheless I think it is a good tool for developing the technical aspects and detailing of a project. Well worth the purchase price.

Delivery time from the U.S. to New Zealand was also exceptional and publication arrived within one week and in good order

5-0 out of 5 stars THE Book for Architects
I am a second year architect and have already used this book extensively. This definitive work has standards for everything; from elevators to gymnastics equipment-even the kitchen sink!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent....
The Standards Real Book (C Version) by Chuck Sher is everything that I hoped it would be and more. The song is list is great, chord options are outstanding. Being a guy who just got back to playing the guitar after more than 40 years, I am playing the songs I want to play while learning to chord options. EXCELLENT PRODUCT, (Chuck I want The Standards Real Book (C Version) #2).
BTW, I sent an email to the Chuck's company email address and he answered it personally the same day - you can't for better customer service than that; thank you Chuck.

5-0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Fakebook
I too would love to be able to have a Volume II of this "Real Jazz Standards Fakebook".

I have almost every fakebook there is: Hal Leonards "Real Jazz Standards Fakebook", "The Real Book" (Vol I, II and III). "The New Real Book" (Vol. I, II and III) etc. If I could have only one fakebook it would be "The Standards Real Book" by Sher Music. I am a professional pianist that performs at a lot of receptions, parties and weddings. This book has the highest percentage of songs that I like to play that fit those well paid society piano type jobs. I also love having the "Verse" sections for intros to the well know parts.

4-0 out of 5 stars Well done.
This book, together with the Sher "New Real Book" series are well done lead sheets.I think the Hal Leonard "Real Book" series has more of what I would consider the "old" standards (30s-50s), though there is a lot of overlap in titles between the series.I think you can check the index/table of contents online to see the titles included, to see if it has what you want. The Sher series seems to be a little more aggressive with alternative chords/progressions than the Hal Leonard series. The print is a little clearer, and there are lyrics included with many of the tunes (Hal Leonard Real Book series generally does not).Chord changes vary slightly between same tunes in the Sher and Hal Leonard series, but can't say that one is better or worse.

I bought both the Sher and Hal Leonard series, and am happy with both. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Less proud moment
USA has her less proud moment. Those who remember those days would be more forgiving to others. Those who unfortunately unable to remember or are ignorant about those days would believe they have occupied the highest moral high ground. For the latter, this book is valuable.

4-0 out of 5 stars the caspian sea oil
This book is over 800 pages, starting from the early U.S. oil companies competing with one another in an 1890's style industrial struggle. It has detail. If you like hard data this is the source. Daunted by the size of this tome? read the last three chapters first. "The Price of Oil", "The legitimate Greatness of The Company" and "The Conclusion": these three chapters will put the present day in a new light for you. The Caspian Sea was an oil field before the Bolschevik Revolution. At that time czarist Russia was a world contender. Now Caspian Sea oil has been "rediscovered". What was the Burma oil co.? What were the yearly production figures? what were the various allocations of oil use? What role were other countries playing? This is the place to find it.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Early History of Standard Oil
This is a wonderful account of the beginnings of the Standard Oil Company - from the perspective of one of the premier muckracker's of the 19th century. The book is mainly a series of articles strung together detailingsome of the more illegalefforts of John D. Rockefeller to create amonopoly in the oil industry. It is a classic account of how to create amonopoly and has stories that involve everything from dynamiting thecompetition to innovative rebate plans that discourage competition.. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars THE BEST BIBLE YOU'LL NEVER USE
I LOVE the Oxford Annotated and use it along with the HarperCollins and New Interpreter's for my work in seminary and at church, and I have recommended the Oxford to literally hundreds of people. When I found out that a new edition had been released, I announced it in our church newsletter and I went ahead and bought 15, meaning to sell them to our members at cost or to give them as gifts. Why 1 star? It's because

1) THE PAPER ON WHICH IT IS PRINTED IS A BAD JOKE. Just like the New Interpreter's, you cannot open and close the thing without having the pages bend back upon themselves. The pages become crumpled with even the gentlest use.

2) CONTENT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU CANNOT READ THE PRINT.There are two factors at play here. The font is miniscule and the paper is virtually transparent. How they printed this in the first place is a miracle of science.

3) PEOPLE NEED THIS BIBLE IN THEIR HANDS.I gave this Bible to two separate people who had said that they wanted one. I asked them to be honest and let me know if they thought that they would have trouble reading it.Both of them handed their copies back to me saying "No, thank you." - even with the Church picking up half the cost.

Dear Whoever Makes These Decisions:

I work hard to convince people that they need to get a first-class, academic Study Bible. It is a hard sell because they are so bound to their "relevant", "real world", (Shall I go on?), quasi-scholarly, agenda-driven, anything but the NRSV, Devotional Bibles. Please believe me when I say that those of us who care about the wonderful work that you do are willing to carry around larger, heavier Bibles if what we get is stronger, more opaque paper, and larger fonts. We would be HAPPY to pay more if you would improve the printing and bind the books so that they can stand up to the years of use that the Oxford Annotated, HarperCollins and New Interpreter's warrant.

I would be DELIGHTED to see a post from a representative of Oxford University Press, HarperCollins, or Abingdon Press saying that you plan to reexamine your printing decisions. For what it's worth, whichever of you guys comes out with a physical product that approaches your outstanding scholarship, will have my order and another 100 to go with it.

P.S.:Anybody want 15 unreadable Bibles?I'm selling them cheap.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Research Bible for Study
exactly what I was looking for to use with my "Education for Ministries" class.
Very through study Bible.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent for studying the Bible
The introduction to the individual books along with the footnotes help me to really understand what is going on in each verse and chapter.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great study resource!
THis is a wonderful study Bible, received in great condition and when promised.Amazon had a lot of great choices and I'm extremely pleased with both the description of its condition (which was excellent; just like new) and with its content.

5-0 out of 5 stars All things considered, a very good Bible
I "upgraded" from the Augmented Third Edition. This new edition is definitely an improvement. It's a bit more liberal but still upholds the essentials like the divinity of Christ, etc.The Oxford Annotated is the first study Bible I've seen that doesn't assume inerrancy so it's not afraid to point out flaws in the text, but it still treats the Bible with the proper respect, and doesn't try to reduce it to just another piece of ancient literature.
The binding for the hardcover edition seems to be a little sturdier, so that's a nice improvement, and it's generally a nice-looking book. The cover is more attractive than the Third Edition. One change they made that I didn't like is that in the Third Edition each page had the beginning and ending verses at the top of the page, and they unfortunately removed that feature in the Fourth Edition.
All things considered, this is the best liberal study Bible out there, and I strongly recommend it.
If they would just add cross-references and chapter headings and restore the beginning and ending verses thing I mentioned then it would be perfect. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Commentary Supreme

I have purchased this commentary for the last several years and the printed book was easy to read in the standard edition. I only ordered the large print version for those members of the class who had vision problems because of age and other vision problems. This years standard print causes everyone to complain about the small print. Is this just the publishers way of forcing buyers to purchase the large print book?We are the only class in this church to use the Standard Lesson Commentary. All other classes use a different book. This years book from Standard is causing many class members to question why we continue to use the Standard when we can get a readible book of lessons from another provider. 1-0 out of 5 stars Needs better identifying of formulas and more practice problems
This is a very poor book and an even poorer textbook.Formulas are not identified well enough. There are very few problems to practice on and the 10 or so Review Questions at the end of each Unit are of little assistance. If there were more practice problems with each formula, then the text would be infinitely better.Electronics & electricity both require a lot of math. The author should consider that there are numerous formulas to be memorized in a short period of time.In our case, we have 5 weeks to cover the AC section. To make things worse it is difficult to locate formulas when looking back through the text. The Appendix that has the formulas should not assume that everyone can remember all of the formulas or when to use every formula.

We used the 4th edition and the section on Basics of Alternating Current required trig tables to do some problems. In the 4th edition the trig table in "AppendixA or B" was absent even though on page 450 it was referenced.Furthermore, in some 4th editions the Solution box for this problem on page 450 had two sentences and some other 4th edition texts did not have this wording.(The sentences said:"Note: 0.151 is the sine of the angle, not the angle. To find the angle that corresponds to a sine of 0.151, use the trigonometric tables located in Appendices A and B or a scientific calculator.)

Perhaps a better text for AC basic classes would be Herman's other text titled Alternating CurrentFundamentals. It requires more advanced math, but is better written and the formulas are better presented.

In our class we have a software program that has many of the math problems. At least they can be "played with" like one does with in advanced math classes to understand the formulas and to check your answers.

Again, identifying how to use each formula and adding practice problems for each formula would greatly improve this text.

- Marion L Soards, Professor of New Testament Studies, Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary

"Of the current editions of Study Bibles, in my opinion the most helpful for pastors, teachers, and all students of the Scriptures has now been issued by Abingdon Press under the dedicated guidance of Dr. Walter Harrelson."

          - Bruce M. Metzger, Professor of New Testament, Emeritus, Princeton Theological Seminary

"The combination of theological reflection, scriptural scholarship, and the practical engagement of life and faith found in the NISB will provide a dependable and rich resource for communicators, students and other spiritual leaders."

          - Rob Weber, Senior Pastor, Grace Community Church, Shreveport, Louisiana.

"I would like to put this in the hands of every teacher. I have long searched for a simply written study Bible that engages our thoughts and also stimulates personal spiritual growth. I became engrossed in it and was reluctant to put it aside."

         - Delia Halverson, Christian Education and Curriculum Specialist, Faith Discovery Ministries

The feature of the NISB that got me to switch from two other study Bibles is the self-pronouncing text. I know of no other study Bible, from any publisher, that provides that benefit to the reader--especially important to those who read the Scriptures aloud to others....it adds so much to the ease of reading all those difficult personal and place names!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Bible
This is an awesome Bible. Full of footnotes and concordance. Maps are colorful and the book itself is in such detail, easy to understand and great for studying. I have searhed many a time for a great Bible as this one, but never found one, until now. Highly recommend especially for Pastors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I had hoped.
Contents were even better than I had hoped.
Package arrived promptly and was well packaged.

5-0 out of 5 stars So easy to read
I just received the NISB and I must begin with the fact that I haven't read but a few verses. However, I have so far found it an amazingly easy Bible to read. The two-column format, with nothing separating the columns, makes it clean and clear. Even though the font is the same size as other Bibles, it just seems bigger somehow because of the clarity of the lay-out. So far, it's one of my favorites. I'll report back after I've explored it a little more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Walking the Gospel
Being involved with leading Bible Study on my church, I asked my pastor what study Bible he would recommend. He suggested The New Interpreter's Study Bible, New Revised Standard Version with The Apocrypha. I had used his Interpreter's Concordance in preparing for my classes, and it was very thorough in explaining the scripture. I thought The New Interpreter's Study Bible would be helpful in my preparation. So far so good.

4-0 out of 5 stars Its strength is its weakness
I've read Luke, John, Acts, and Romans and I think I'm ready to share my impressions..

The NRSV is an excellent translation, though not appreciably better than the old RSV from the 1950s.The language has been made politically correct - er, I mean "inclusive" - but it is still indicated in footnotes where the original language had "brothers" or "men" which the translators have genericized into "friends" or "believers."I have never been able to appreciate the concern over "inclusive" language but apparently it's important to some people.I don't care either way as long as the text isn't severely tampered-with.

Along with the text of the NRSV, this Study Bible contains an extensive commentary, running along on the bottom half of the page.Sometimes the commentary is less than half of the page, sometimes it is more, but the average is about half ... so this book is at least 50% commentary.Good; that's what I wanted.Except this commentary isn't always of a quality that I would have hoped for.I have an old Oxford Annotated Bible and I felt that the notes there were not thorough enough. They told me stuff I wanted to know, but I wanted more. With the Interpreter's I feel like I could get by with less.Too much time is spent reiterating the text, and little or no comment is given to many passages that need examination since they are cryptic, puzzling, or apparently contradictory.I want more historical and textual information, and the Interpreter's commentary seems mostly to be from a doctrinal and theological standpoint. This sort of explication was extremely helpful in the murky diatribes and theological arguments of the letter to the Romans, but not so useful in Luke and Acts.

My biggest complaint is that the Interpreter's misses a lot of citations for Old Testament quotes in the New Testament.Paul in particular is proof-texting like mad in his letters (and he's quoting from the Septuagint so the quoted passages won't even MATCH the Old Testament in the Bible you're reading him from...)Anyway .. in the Oxford Annotated, they were really on top of that, providing chapter and verse for every bit of OT quoted in the NT.The Interpreters provides some references, but not all .. and it's frustrating because I want to go look at these verses in context so I can see where Paul is getting his stuff.I wanted to have everything in one volume, but I find I still have to reach for my Oxford Annotated quite frequently because the information is just NOT in the Interpreter's.

There were also a few errors in the lettering of the footnotes (not matching correctly to the lines they are supposed to note) but the astute reader will be able to puzzle that out.

Physically, the book is unwieldy. It's too big to carry around, and the pages are so thin I'm almost afraid to touch them.(The book has 2300 pages but it's only 2 inches thick, if that tells you anything.)Not really what I'd call a "portable" volume. At least it's bound with stitched signatures instead of glue, so it should last a long time. There is a significant amount of show-through on the pages which is unfortunate because the designer opted to separate the commentary from the text with a thin ruled line, which often appears to be striking out a line of text on the other side of the page. You could probably guess from the blandness of the cover design that the page layout is functional but not pretty: two columns, narrow margins, the commentary set perhaps a point smaller, darker and more tightly leaded than the text.

Still, this is a pretty good study Bible, and I'm glad to have it.The commentary is massive and much more THOROUGH than any other I've seen .. but because of what it still lacks despite its size, and the physical awkwardness of the book itself, I cannot award a full five stars. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the best PMO books. Definitely useful than PMBOK
Contrary to my own belief, this is actually not bad of a guide for program management. I definitely used this book and some of the references to create a deck that I presented to senior managers. They found the content to be very useful.

I think PMI did a great job in this book than the PMBOK, which is definitely a good bed time material. This book is well written and flows nicely. I didnt expect that I will actually like this book and use it for anything beyond just knowledge but I found that some of the graphics are helpful and can be used for presentations. That to me along with the deep and thorough practical examples made this book a 4 star.

4-0 out of 5 stars Used This to Pass the PgMP Exam
The Second Edition is light years ahead of the First Edition--I've read both.I received my PgMP certification this month.Since there were NO STUDY GUIDES available anywhere that covered the material presented in the Second Edition, I simply read this standard along with PMI's Program Management Professional (PgMP) Examination Specification. These two books and 15+ years of practical program/project management experience helped me pass the exam.

4-0 out of 5 stars Basics of Program Management
It is a basic and fundamental book of Program Management. I can really recommend it if you want to buy a handbook of Program Management.

4-0 out of 5 stars Second Revision is a big improvement!
Project Management Institute issued the second revision of their program management standard in December 2008.The second edition is a significant improvement over the first edition published in 2006.Detailed changes are noted in an Appendix A to the standard, but in general, this is a totally new document, not merely a revision. The standard is now 324 pages, versus 109 pages, themes were deleted, knowledge areas added, and other major modifications were performed.

PMI's The Standard for Program Management - Second Edition is linear in approach, with very generic good practice recommendations. It assumes that the entire scope of the program is known early on, which is not true in all programs, or it plans for an R&D type phase that will answer the outstanding questions. The standard is very non-prescriptive in nature, allowing the implementing organization to create the best implementation method. This type of standard is helpful, but requires significant organizational expertise to help the implementation process.

For those who are looking for a methodolgy to implement see Office of Government Commerce, (2007), Managing Successful Programmes: Delivering Business Change in Multi-project Environments Book, 8th impression, The Stationery Office, Norwich, UK.It is a very good method of implementing program management in an organization and is in line with PMI's standard.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Foundation to Pass the PgMP Exam
The Standard for Program Management by Project Management Institute describes process groups and knowledge areas for Program Management. The book is a good material for the first version of the standard.

I used this book as my top study material to present and pass the PgMP test. The book provides you the foundation to pass the test.

If you are a Program Manager by profession you will be able to relate the described process groups and knowledge areas with many of your day to day activities in a program.

Program Governance, Benefit realization and Stakeholder Management are themes that occur across the life cycle of a program. These themes are very important to support the successfully completion of programs and provide incremental benefits to the organization executing the program.

I am looking forward for the next version of the standard. ... Read more

This is the third in the trilogy about the knights templars and i was able to buy two of these on amazon at great savings over what i paid for the first book of the trilogy elsewhere.thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Read!
Excellent sequel.I was a little put off that it picks up eighty years after the first but soon got over it.Many of the plot elements from the first didn't carry over, but the sequel soon establishes itself in its own right.I love the character development, dialogue and historical precision of the sequel and can't wait for number three to come out on Kindle.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good long read
This is a well written story. It follows the previous book and involves a descendant of the main character in the first book. The new main character goes from an estate in France to the middle east and moves up from being a simple ignorant knight to an educated Templar. The story has side tracks that go into detail about Richard the Lion Heart and his family as well as the inhabitants of the middle east.
I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it for people that want to know about the crusades and the Templar's.

2-0 out of 5 stars This is not a great cosmetology book
I was disappointed when I read this book.As a cosmetology student, we were required to study this book but I found that there were so many errors and inaccuracies in it that you stopped believing what you were reading after a while and you began to question everything.A college level book, or even a high school level book for that matter, would never be accepted to be used for teaching if it contained the kinds of errors in this book, and I am talking about the book in general (not a specific version/year).Poorly written.

5-0 out of 5 stars good book
I purchased this book for my fiance to help her prepare for the examination for the state we are looking to move to. She mentioned the book to very detailed and exactly what is needed more many state examinations in this field.

5-0 out of 5 stars Milady's Standard Cosmetology Book Rating
Good reference book for anyone going through cosmetology training. We purchased the book for my daughter to keep on hand at home since it's the same book used in her class at school. It's very informative and helpful and will be a reference tool once she gets out on her own and needs to refer back to it.I strongly recommend this book for anyone going into the field of cosmetology.

3-0 out of 5 stars My complaints for local hairstylists
For what the book taught hairstylists about cuts for round, and squared faces are totally wrong. If thte hair has to be styled to lift off the forehead, and come forward: All the hairstylists would do is leave bangs to the side of the client's face.Round faces should not have hair on top of hteir head. That is to crop up a spiky hairdo. To place some hair over the ears and cheeks is to make bangs on the side of the client's face.I have no idea what the editor meant by "keep the hair up on one side."I don't think round, and squared faces should have bangs at all. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Arch graphic standards
Excellent book, price and sender. Book was as advertised and I would highly recommend buying from this seller.

4-0 out of 5 stars If the price is right, it's perfect for students.
Through 3 years I had this book while in school, it was an invaluable resource. As many of you know, the work done in arch. school is very design/idea based, and not necessarily rooted in a feasible final product. However, I strived to include as many true-to-life elements in my design, and this book got it done for me. Many standards and sizes, etc. that had my classmates scrambling around on the internet or looking through dozens of books to find were easily found in the index of this book. It eventually became a class resource for a couple semesters until people bought their own.

As a professional, many people's firms have a specialty or three. For instance, I work for a healthcare firm at the moment. However, as a student, you can run the whole gamut of different building types. Despite how far-out some of my designs were, the fact that they were rooted in current, workable building methods and systems that were detailed out helped me immensely when applying for jobs. Knowing the details and showing them in your design is not only good for your reputation, but good for ability as an architect.

I'd recommend this to many arch students if the price is right for you. I happened upon it at a time with the book (no CD) was around $80 or $90. Of the dozens of textbooks I still have, this is one resource book I know I'll be consulting for a while.

5-0 out of 5 stars Architectural Graphic Standards for Architects, En..
Great book.Really Highlights the shortcomings of the modern addition of this book. I highly recomend this book for students and practicing architects.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have for design professionals!

"Architectural Graphic Standards" is organized roughly per the CSI Masterformat divisions, including general planning and design data, sitework, concrete, masonry, metals, wood, thermal and moisture protection, doors and windows, finishes, specialties, equipment, furnishings, special construction, conveying systems, mechanical, electrical, sports, energy, history preservation, etc.

"Architectural Graphic Standards" has 1072pages (9.6 x 11.8 inches large format) and numerous line drawings. This new edition has expanded and new content covering contemporary issues. It is a must-have for architects, landscape architects and urban planners, interior designers, engineers or any other building-related design professionals.

Product Description
Complete and comprehensive coverage is given of the full ANSI/ISO C++ standard.Amazon.com Review
Programming with the C++ Standard Library can certainly bedifficult, but Nicolai Josuttis's The C++ Standard Libraryprovides one of the best available guides to using the built-infeatures of C++ effectively.

The C++ Standard Library providesplenty of default functionality in the form of the Standard TemplateLibrary (STL) for containers (like vectors and linked lists), as wellas generic algorithms (which allow you to sort, search, and manipulateelements inside containers). The best thing about The C++ StandardLibrary is that it gives the reader a concise guide to workingwith these basic containers (from lists to sets and maps, witheverything in between). Each container type is explained along withshort code excerpts. Moreover, in a reference section, the authorexplores the connections between each container type, showing how theyshare similar methods. (Learn just a few methods and you can prettymuch work with them all.)

In addition to STL, this book excels atproviding a readable introduction to the generic algorithms (which canbe used to sort, search, and otherwise manipulate STLcontainers). Other books either fold this material in with theexplanation of containers or make it seem like an esoteric topic. Thefact is, generic algorithms work with all the STL types, and byseparating these algorithms out like this the reader can learn therich array of algorithms available in today's standard C++. While thisbook concentrates on STL and algorithms, readers will still find greatcoverage on Standard Library string classes and streams (including afine section on internationalization and locales).

For thebeginning or intermediate C++ programmer, The C++ StandardLibrary can be a real timesaver. It arranges and explains thecomplexities of the C++ Standard Library and STL in a manageableformat that's great as a reference and as an approach toprogramming. --Richard Dragan

Topics covered: historyof C++ and the Standard Library, template basics, Big-O Notation, thestd namespace, standard exceptions, allocators, standard libraryutilities, pairs and auto_ptr, numeric limits, the Standard TemplateLibrary (STL) basics, containers, iterators, algorithms, vectors, lists, deques, strings, sets, multisets, bitsets, maps, multimaps, stacks, queues, iterator adapters, function objects, elementrequirements, value and reference semantics, complex numbers, valarrays, stream classes, stream manipulators and formatting, fileI/O, internationalization, and locales. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Bad formatting on smaller Kindle devices
I got this for my Kindle rather than a bulky book to save on space, and I wish I'd just paid the couple of dollars extra to get a real copy. The formatting on many of the coding examples is TERRIBLE and what's even worse is some examples actually have text cut off!I've just wasted 20 minutes trying to find a link to notify Amazon of the problem without any luck which makes it even more frustrating. This book doesn't seem to be marked as "optimized for larger devices" and regardless, it's unacceptable that meaningful text is lost.

2-0 out of 5 stars Full of algorithmic errors
I bought this book by looking at the overall ratings and I had a need for a reference book for STL.

The organization of the book is not smooth and of course there are many algorithmic errors. For starters the example of autoptrs on page 44-46.

I was not convinced by the example and hence I tried at home, the example does not behave as described.

I complained to author and mailed him my implementation. He balked and told me "It is compilers fault. And his example is solid."

Then the implementation of reference semantics example on page 222-223.

The count is increased for the object which is created later and thus the count on all objects referring to same object differes in every object.

Thus if the earliest created object is destructed first, then the whole reference semantics example will break.

I wrote to the author and he said "He does not have the time to look at the example. He is very busy."

My suggestion is for everybody that take the examples in the book with a pinch of salt.Try them first before getting convinced.

There are explanatory errors in containers for rbegin, rend functions and their uses, and the containers code does not include the type of the arguments or the return type. The iterator of any conatainer semantics are not explained in a comprehensive way.

And there is no good example of using the constructor

Container(beg, end).

5-0 out of 5 stars Order Review
Fast shipping, problem free. Very impressed! My book is in great condition! I will return in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very informative, clear explanations
I am not new to STL, however this book provided me with a much deeper understanding of the inner workings an nuances of STL.

Some people have complained of the examples.I found them concise and to the point, giving clear and straight forward examples of the topic.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Kindle edition is terrible
Don't get me wrong. Content-wise, this book is indispensable. However, the Kindle edition is almost unusable. The contents of the book are all displayed using a single proportional font, and it appears that most of the formatting for the source code is lost. As a result, you find that you have source code getting lost in the middle of text, incomprehensible pieces of code where things are spread over two or three lines, and just plain messiness all around. The loss of formatting of the source code makes this edition of the book almost useless for the purpose of reference. I am afraid that this is a problem we will be seeing for most ebooks for a long time, and it is rather depressing. In short, I can't recommend this book in electronic form. Go ahead and bite the bullet and just haul the regular one around. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
As many of the reviewers pointed out, just a basic description of the weapons.Variations of individual weapons may be pointed out, but prices for those variations aren't necessarily mentioned. It typically only refers to the primary manufacturer of a weapon, even though other arsenals may have supplied the same weapon (which can mean a substantial pricing difference), the variations probably won't be there or barely mentioned. Also remember this is a MILITARY gun book, if you have a commercial version of the weapon or import for civilian sale it is most likely not there at all(AK-47s, AR-15 etc).I also expected some mention of importers and their markings to help identify the weapons. You can get as good or better information from most of the gun forums on the internet.

Product Description
Prentice Hall's most important C programming title in years. A companion volume to Kernighan & Ritchie's C PROGRAMMING LANGUAGE. A collection of reusable functions (code for building data structures, code for performing math functions and scientific calculations, etc.) which will save C programmers time and money especially when working on large programming projects. The C Library is part of the ANSI (American National Standard Institute) for the C Language. This new book contains the complete code for the library. It covers elements of the library with which even the most experienced C programmers are not familiar such as internationalization (the ability to write programs that can adapt to different cultural locales, for example, using the C library, programmers can write software that manipulates large character sets such as Kanji). Structured like the Standard C Library, it contains 15 headers declaring or defining all of the names in the library. A separate chapter covers each header, including excerpts from relevant portions of the C Standard showing all codes needed to implement each portion of the library and explaining why it is necessary. The book teaches readers the concepts and design issues associated with library building. Using this book, programemrs will be less likely to re-code something that already exists in a given program. Plauger is one of the world's leading experts on C and the C Library. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The Standard C Library
Although the information in this book is crucial for C Programming, I was disappointed in the quality of the print. Some of the words are not even legible.

5-0 out of 5 stars Industry Standard since I can remember
The Standard C Library has been an industry reference for real-time operation since it was introduced. Through many versions (K&R, ANSI, etc.) and revisions it has remained THE go-to book when you need to know how a standard library function works. Recommended for anyone using C, C++, C# etc. when you want to know how it REALLY works... and will remain a classic.

5-0 out of 5 stars A "Must Have" Reference Book
When I bought this book, in college, I really didn't understand it. It didn't really give me much information, just had a bunch of code from the C standard libraries in it.

I picked it back up a few years after I started working in the real world and now had enough experience to realize what a gem this thing was. It basically implements (full source code) all the standard libraries. It let's you see how things work on the inside. It shows structs and accessible items that you may otherwise not even know it exists.

The best part is the source for standard library functions. This is a super handy gem if you are doing embedded code that doesn't have OS support. It was a wonderful help to me that let me write a few of the standard C functions that were handy to use when in an embedded environment where those functions weren't available. Many of these I could have done myself, but only with much though, time and testing. From here its virtually free.

This is a MUST HAVE book to any hard core C/C++ developer.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fantastic Resource!
Essential for C programmers who want to use as many library functions as possible to avoid reinventing the wheel. A must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars A real programmer!
People sometimes make jokes about people who call them self's real programmers (and vise versa). But this is a book that a real programmer will have on their bookshelf as reference material, along with their copy of "The C++ Programming Language" and others. I have not referred to this book in years, but I have never regretted the purchase. It is rare that someone who probably wrote the library that you are using writes a book on it. So even though it is very technical, it is a must have for anyone who wishes to meet the same standards as "The Standard". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Um, it's the Bible
Amazon asked me to review my recent purchases.I bought this Bible at the request of a young man in Pakistan named Basim. A year ago he wrote to me asking me to send him a Bible. I sent him the Good News edition. He read it. This year he wrote to me asking for a more scholarly Bible. My favorite is the NRSV Annotated. It's a good book. ;)
