Product Description
What is 'Standard' Bidding? This is an increasingly hard question to answer, but the proliferation of bridge on the Internet in pickup partnerships makes it imperative that someone does so. Perhaps the most popular natural system for the hundreds of thousands of online players worldwide is the Standard American Yellow Card, or SAYC. In this book, for the first time, SAYC is fully described and explained. This will be an invaluable to aid to anyone wanting to learn and understand SAYC, or anyone who simply knows the basics and is eager to fill in the missing pieces in their repertoire. Ned Downey and Ellen Pomer, the authors, are experienced bridge teachers and partners in the 'Bridge Forum' web site. Ned also teaches bridge via the Swan Games online playing site. Ellen is well-known on the Internet under her handle 'Caitlin', and regularly writes for various magazines on Internet bridge. This title gives basic introduction to the standard bidding conventions used on bridge websites. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to read yet extensive information
This book gives you a readable and complete explanation of the ACBL Standard Yellow Card bidding sequences. I started out by downloading (for free) and studying yellow card from the [...]website but soon grew weary being tied to the computer so I purchased this book. The book gives you portability and immediate access to a particular topic. The book makes it easier to skim subjects you already know well and bore in where you need to. The book is well organized and its Table of Contents makes it easier to refer back to brush up on a selected bidding sequence. There are nineteen chapters on bidding, which cover every situation that I expect to encounter and taught me about several new bidding sequences, e.g., Michaels and the Unusual Notrump, that have proved to be very useful during play. The twentieth chapter is an excellent refresher on standards leads.

5-0 out of 5 stars not a simple subject . . .
SAYC is frequently thought of as rigid and simple. This book clearly refutes that view.

5-0 out of 5 stars I read it three times and still refer to it
I found this book in a local bookstore and have since read it cover to cover three times, and still find myself looking up sections. I've read something like 150 bridge books but this is the simplest introduction to the standard bidding system used for online bridge. Even if you want to move on to 2/1, you need a thorough grounding in SAYC and Ellen's book provides it. She also happens to be an expertin 2/1 as well, as I later discovered when I "met" her at Bridge Base Online.I suggest reading the book once in a few sittings - I did so in a weekend - then carefully re-reading it over subsequent weeks, paying particular attention to the many hands and bidding situations. If you're new to online bridge, look no further. If you're a face-to-face tourney player wanting to move to 2/1, you'll still need the solid grounding in SAYC that this book provides.

4-0 out of 5 stars A book defining a "standard" that isn't.
The problem with SAYC is that it isn't a standard in the sense that no official body ever carefully reviewed it and called for comments, voted, etc. In fact, there are several areas now where common practice differs from what the standard says. An example is a bid of 2N over a 1 of a minor opening -- SAYC says this is 13-15, but most now play it as 11-12. The book is good at pointing these things out.

The best thing about this book is that it exists and is inexpensive, meaning you can get one for a demented partner, a beginner, etc. The worst thing is the lack of an index, which one can hope would be remedied in a second edition. I think the authors chose the right level of detail for the beginning and intermediate players. I read another review that complained about the coverage of the "SAYC conventions". In fact, I think they are all in here -- it is just that there are lots of conventions that many SAYC players also play. A good book for those is the two-volume set of "25 Conventions" by Seagram et. al.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great title for taking bidding to the next level
I have been playing bridge for about 3 months and found myself getting into trouble during bidding. My partner would make a cue bid, or a reverse and I wouldn't quite get what was going on.The books I had learned basic bridge from didn't cover these intermediate bridge topics.I knew I needed to improve my bidding in order to improve beyond beginner.

This is a great book for that purpose. You won't find a lot of fluff and puff. The chapters are short and to the point. There are dozens of hands throughout to show different examples of how to bid, how to overbid and how to respond.Unlike other books, wherein the authors hold themselves out as the ultimate experts, this book brings forth opinions from the great bridge masters. It presents these often conflicting opinions objectively and makes recommendations, but in the end letting the reader adapt these opinions to his or her playing style.

This book will benefit beginner and intermediate players who play on the internet or at a duplicate bridge club.I highly recommend this title to anyone learning bridge or as a gift to your regular partner!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Fit
I needed a Bible that would be the same size as my Holy Quran, Maulana Muhammad Ali translation and this is a perfect fit. Now I can go through the Torah and highlight the words of Allah as well as the Apocrypha books, and the books of the prophets. I just wish that this print had the words of Jesus in red, so that I wouldn't have to use up a few highlighters doing it myself. But other than that, this book gets the job done and I'm not disappointed at all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Apocrypha
I feel that this is a more complete version of the Holy Bible. The English is easy to follow and understand. The Apocrypha is what caught my attention, and that's why I feel this a more complete version.I didn't grow up knowing what the Apocrypha was.I've read that it was just over 120 years ago that the Apocrypha was removed from the Bible. Before then the Bible contained 80 books, not 66.For exampel, the original 1611 King James Version, as well as the 1795 updated version, contained the Apocrypha. This particular New Revised Standard Version is a wonderful way of opening the mind to different books of the Bible, that is, for those not familiar with these books, and for those seeking a more modern English translation.

Our layreaders, or lecterns, as well as our priests in the church I attend read this version of the Holy Bible during the service.I also happend to notice that, while I was kneeling at the altar for Communion, the Bible read during the service contains the Apocrypha. The New Revised Standard Version is easy to understand and fits in with today's modern English language.God bless.

I will be ordering the Book as soon as it comes up for sale as it is a lot less bother to take the book when I price coins away from home then it is to take my laptop or find a PC to use the DVD.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff!
I needed this book for a course that i am taking. It is very thorough and easy to follow.

3-0 out of 5 stars good but too much politically correct
This is a good book but the attempt to be politically correct ( something very common nowadays ) backfires a little. It was to be expected that when the authors selected models for the photos showing
facial procedures that they selected people with lighter skin so that readers could easily see the differences between the stages of the procedures. As it is, they selected models with dark skin, so one picture is just like all the others. The basic step-by-step facial in chapter 14 illustrates this clearly. They might as well have taken just one photo and repeated it throughout the procedure; the result would have been the same.

In the world of cue sticks and side pockets, this is thegospel, the 1998 revised, standard version of the 1978 bible. Achampion player, indefatigable writer, and inexhaustible promoter ofhis sport, Byrne racks his book into two halves, the first a primer onpool, the second on three-cushion billiards. Beginning with thefundamentals, he goes on to run the table with lots of readable adviceand detailed diagrams for how to play individual shots, includingtrick shots, strategies for eight- and nine-ball, and rules for themajor pool games. Product Description
An utterly original literary and intellectual collaboration by two of our keenest moral and political observers has produced a nonfiction Heart of Darkness for our time: the first full reckoning of what actually happened at Abu Ghraib prison, based on hundreds of hours of exclusive interviews with the Americans involved.

The Ballad of Abu Ghraib reveals the stories of the American soldiers who took and appeared in the iconic photographs of the Iraq war-the haunting digital snapshots from Abu Ghraib prison that shocked the world-and simultaneously illuminates and alters forever our understanding of those images and the events they depict. Drawing on more than two hundred hours of Errol Morris's startlingly frank and intimate interviews with Americans who served at Abu Ghraib and with some of their Iraqi prisoners, as well as on his own research, Philip Gourevitch has written a relentlessly surprising account of Iraq's occupation from the inside out-rendering vivid portraits of guards and prisoners ensnared in an appalling breakdown of command authority and moral order.

What did we think we saw in the infamous photographs, and what were we, in fact, looking at? What did the people in the photographs think they were doing, and why did they take them? What was "standard operating procedure" and what was "being creative" when it came to making prisoners uncomfortable? Who was giving orders, and who was following them? Where does the line lie between humiliation and torture, and why and how does that matter? Was the true Abu Ghraib "scandal" a result of an exposŽ or a cover-up?

In exploring these questions, Gourevitch and Morris have crafted a nonfiction morality play that stands to endure as essential reading long after the current war in Iraq passes from the headlines. By taking us deep into the voices and characters of the men and women who lived the horror of Abu Ghraib, the authors force us, whatever our politics, to reexamine the pat explanations in which we have been offered-or sought-refuge, and to see afresh this watershed episode. Instead of a "few bad apples," we are confronted with disturbingly ordinary young American men and women who have been dropped into something out of Dante's Inferno.

The Ballad of Abu Ghraib is a book that makes you think and makes you see-an essential contribution from two of our finest nonfiction artists working at the peak of their powers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A thoroughly depressing, but essential read...
This book is about what happened at the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, not when Saddam Hussein was in charge, but rather after Iraq was "liberated" by the Americans, with token assistance from some other countries. The infamous photos taken there do not appear in this book, and the decision to exclude them was made prior to writing the book, as Philip Gourevitch says in the section entitled "Notes and Acknowledgments." Those photographs have been burned into the brain of most of the world's sentient beings. This book is the story behind those photographs, capturing the circumstances involved in their taking; that may not be conveyed, or possibly are even distorted by the image itself. This book is not for the "fun read" crowd, and it is certainly not inspirational nor uplifting. Of course no one is more aware of this than the author, who over half way through the book says: "Surely, if you have come this far in this sordid tale, you must crave some relief, some release, from the relentless, claustrophobic annihilation of the dungeon: a clear and cleansing note of sanity, an interlude of avenging justice or an eruption of decency, the entry of a hero. But surely you don't want to be deceived. There is no such solace or sanctuary in this story. Abu Ghraib was bedlam..."And that is the true horror of this tale; there is not even one "uplifting moment." The very heart of darkness, indeed.

And the heart of the story concerns the individuals who took, and appeared in those photos, much, I'm sure to their regret. Most of the aforementioned sentient beings can recall the name of one: Lynndie England. Yes, she is the one who was holding the leash which was connected to an Iraqi prisoner on all fours. Perhaps the iconic image of the war. Though Gourevitch does not make this point explicitly, he did provide all the dots if the reader wants to connect them. The leash was also around Lynndie's neck, held most directly by Charles Graner, and less directly by the society from which she came. One of the "dots" was the fact that she worked in a factory gutting chickens, for very low pay, while she was in high school, in West Virginia. These individuals are ideal prospects for the Army recruiter, who paints the picture of the upward mobility the military can provide. Another dot was when Graner painted the words "Po' White Trash" on the back of his Humvee. Yet another was the fact that she wasn't even 21. So, there is also the dot of being placed in an environment where "everyone is doing it"; where everyone is "nodding and winking" that this is an essential part of the game; that the orders of Military Intelligence, who are seeking to break these prisoners in order to "save American lives," must be obeyed, and all her "chain of command" concurs; and yet another dot is the clouding of judgment that so often comes with "love." It would take an exceptional human being to say "No, this is wrong." Lynndie England was not exceptional. The author chooses a remarkably appropriate epigraph, a quote from Jean-Paul Sartre, for all of us to ponder: "Happy are those who died without ever having had to ask themselves: `If they tear out my fingernails, will I talk?' But even happier are others, barely out of their childhood, who have not had to ask themselves that other question: `If my friends, fellow soldiers, and leaders tear out an enemy's fingernails in my presence, what will I do?'"

The book focuses on the individuals who went to prison; those that received the dishonorable discharges. No doubt, because this is where the court testimony is. But the author also tries focus on the others, that proverbial "chain of command" that led all the way back to the nods and winks coming from the White House, including the proclamations that it is time "to take the gloves off." A few of the higher-ups received reprimands, and the severity diminishes the higher one goes, with only a certain moral condemnation left for the former Secretary of Defense, now comfortably retired three hours to my north, on his farm outside Taos. And Lynndie England, now released from prison, with Graner's baby, but without him, cannot even get her old job back in the chicken plant.

As one other perceptive reviewer said: In a better world, this book would be a standard assignment in every American Civics class, along with the Gettysburg address, and Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech. A very well-written, balanced, and wrenching account of another serious stain on the ideals that many Americans rightly strive for. 5-stars plus.

4-0 out of 5 stars Standard Operating Procedure
Phillip Gourevitch earned my trust when he wrote "We Wish to Inform You that Tomorrow We Will Be Killed with our Families on the Rwandan Genocide. In Standard Operating Procedure Gourevitch collaborates with Errol Morris to write a story about the Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq where numerous prisoner abuses occurred complete with pictures that flooded the media several years ago. My opinion of this book is very much like what Gourevitch says towards the end about "a picture telling a story." Gourevitch has written a story based upon interviews with persons who where there. What the absolute truth is...we may never know. What I believe is that multiple people FAILED both military and civilian leaders. What we have in Standard Operating Procedure is an account of some person's account of what happened. I was unable to render a verdict myself one way or the other...all I can advise is read the book yourself, and make your own judgment.

2-0 out of 5 stars Needs editing
Granted that the subject matter is disturbing, I could not read more than a few chapters.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for young person or student
I chose this Bible for my 12 yo student. It has a good cover and it is bound well.It lays on the table flat and can take a lot of abuse. The print is a pretty good size for young ones who may still have a bit of reading difficulty. The words of Jesus are not in red which is a good thing as the red letters fade with time.Good price for the product. It should last for years.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Fine Addition to a Bible Collection
The Bible is a very difficult work to perform a review. Many reviews of it are biased towards the opinion of the author, their theological point of view, understanding and general attitude. Therefore, I will state first up that I hail from the High Church of England and tend not to err too far from its general theological outlook and opinions. I grew up reading only the King James, or Authorised, version of the bible. Although I did occasionally find its expression a little difficult to understand - after all it was commissioned close to four centuries ago - I've never found any particular reason to move too far away from it, and in fact will often consult one of its revisions, the New King James version if I can't understand it.

That said, I purchased a NASB (despite being able to consult it for free on various free bible gateways on the Internet) because I wanted to experience a subtly different "literal" translation of the bible and especially the gospel. I am not one to claim that a "literal translation" is always the most appropriate translation for the bible - I believe the various thought for thought translations serve their purpose in the scheme of things - I tend to prefer versions that steer closer to a "literal" rendering rather than a "thought for thought" rendering. I am finding the choices the translators of the NASB have made both interesting and thought provoking and whilst it is not the easiest read for a modern reader (although I'd argue that the KJV is more difficult, only because of its use of the elder English used), it is certainly not unreadable.

Consequently, my goal was to experience a different but "literal" translation. Rather than rely on one set of translators - or my own translation were I to learn the original sources and somehow decide "which" set of "original" manuscripts or compilations of manuscripts to translate - I've found this bible to be immensely useful. That said, I still prefer the language of the KJV if only because I personally find it a familiar form to read - were I stuck on an island with only an NASB, I don't believe I would be lacking in the bible's wisdom.

Onto more material matters.

The binding and covers are sturdy but as others have mentioned, the paper is not particularly thick. In addition it is prone to creasing. That said, it is a tradeoff between the font size, the paper thickness and the overall size of the book. It is, all in all, a reasonable compromise although my only criticism of its format is the paper thickness; I have a KJV which is just as readable, with the same amount of pages but with thicker paper; the font is slightly smaller but still legible for me and my eye sight isn't what it used to be.

Given an English bible is, by definition, a translation from a number of even more ancient texts, it would be unfair to expect any individual translation to be perfect. However, if you are seeking a more literal rendition of the extant texts, whose style is modern, albeit at times complex, English, this is a fair translation to consult or even use.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is my #1 Bible now.
It's a fine Bible. I'm not a Bible scholar but if this was a literal translation why isn't Jesus called "Joshua" or "Yahshua"? Anyway, I like that it's Hardcovered. But I didn't like the really "thin" (for lack of a better word) pages. They remind of an old pocket-sized KJV New Testament Gideon Bible I had.I just prefer they not be so thin that you can easily see what's on the other side of the page. It's still worth it though, I got over it. The Maps & the Concordance was great. I paid $10.00 for this Bible. I think it was worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars God's word in modern English
The New American Standard Bible (NASB) is described by those who know about biblical languages and their translation, as the most accurate of the modern English translations.I've used the New International Version (NIV) but am now reading the NASB to see how it compares.

Other than that, what can one say?It is the word of God.The words of man and his or her ideas don't begin to compare. ... Read more

This volume offers a coherent vision of what it means to be scientifically literate, describing what all students regardless of background or circumstance should understand and be able to do in science as a result of their learning experience. The standards reflect the principles that learning science is an inquiry-based process, that science in schools should reflect the intellectual traditions of contemporary science, and that all Americans have a role in science reform. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Handy reference to coincide with website
Each time I need to reference one of the NSES, I pull up the website AND have this book open. The website's search feature quickly locates particular standards and their implementation, but is somewhat eye-tiring to read from. The book is difficult to navigate quickly, but easy on the eyes. Whichever pages and passages the site lists, I find in the bound book. As more states align science curriculum with each other, these standards are becoming, well, the standards. The book is easy to carry along and read those 'teacher tips' sections while waiting in line, for an appointment, or that train to go by.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Resource - Highly Recommended!
"National Science Education Standards" is an outstanding, well laid out resource for those interested in science education. We needed this excellent book for my daughter's senior project (establishing an advance science club) and found it to be a comprehensive tome of knowledge, somewhat overkill for our needs.

This book covers the standards that should be used to measure student science knowledge and therefore the level of teaching in the schools (taken with a large sampling of students, of course).

Highly Recommended!

Product Description
Says Coach K: "In all forms of leadership, whether you are a coach, a CEO, or a parent, there are four words that, when said, can bring out the best in your team, your employees, and your family...I BELIEVE IN YOU.

These four words can mean the difference between a fear of failure and the courage to try."

In his previous bestselling books, Coach K has guided readers to success the way he has guided his teams at Duke University - - with the power of his inspirational words and phenomenal leadership skills.

But that was with college kids.....Now, Coach K has stepped up to take on an entirely new challenge - by volunteering to coach the US Olympic Basketball team. Comprised of some of the biggest NBA stars, Coach K had to work with huge egos and personalrivalries in order to create an American team that could win against the best competition in the world and restore Team USA to the gold standard of basketball.

This is more than a celebratory book - it's Coach K's first-hand account of how he dealt with such stars as Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Carmelo Anthony and all the rest to buy into his "total team" play. Half a book on basketball, half a book on management techniques, THE GOLD STANDARD captures Coach K's personal style and approach to getting different (and sometimes difficult) people to work hard and succeed in reaching a common goal. ... I bought this book for my thirty-something son-in-law for Christmas. He had requested it. He was very excited to get it and read it through in the first few days after Christmas. He enjoyed it very much and definitely recommends to others in our family and in his business.

5-0 out of 5 stars The inner story...
This book by Coach Krzyzewski is a very good read about Basketball and the Olympics. But, it was the inner story that I found fascinating.
There is a short episode about Colonel Brown and a few soldiers he brought to talk to the Olympic team. Injured soldiers. Heroes.
This was remarkable. Just remarkable.

The book was well written and interesting, but the inner story about the soldiers and this Colonel was incredible.

It shows Coach K's humanity and his kindness, and it shows the courage that these soldiers live with every day.

Well worth the time.

2-0 out of 5 stars Can't they afford an editor?
The most painful thing about this book is their editor's inability to properly use i.e. and e.g. It's so distracting that it's almost impossible for me to do anything but see the mistakes. It is also fairly weak on the content, but overall a good way to do a quick review. The questions in the back do seem to be more along the lines of just simple multiple choice, where the sample CBT tests seem to have more intricate questions. Perhaps the simple questions will be helpful, but it would have been nice to get questions that mimicked the MCAT a little more. The little cartoon cat that they put at the end of each chapter makes me want to punch someone - um, hello, we're not in elementary school. While I can appreciate that they want to break up the dull content, I would have preferred something a LITTLE more tactful/age appropriate.

3-0 out of 5 stars gives you a general idea
It tells you what the mcat will have on it but I did go back to my old books to double check.
In the chemistry part, it didnt give much details and examples on the different subjects. So, when I wanted more practice with equations, I went to my old book to get more practice.
The book serves as a refreshment on the subjects but I would want more practice problems. Still it was helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gold Standard MCAT book
A good book somewhere in the middle pack of MCAT study guides. It has some practice exams that are helpful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gold Standard is a good indicator for MCAT scores
The MCAT computer online practice is great, but not exactly in the same format as the real MCAT computerized test. However, it does give quite an accurate indication of how one will score in the real MCAT test. So, the Gold Standard provides a cheaper way of practising MCAT tests.

5-0 out of 5 stars A masterpiece that leaves no stone unturned
This book, now in its 16th edition, is a comprehensive review of the new MCAT and provides strategies, preparation ideas, and sample questions to help you study. The full-color illustrations are aesthetically pleasing and accurate. I love the book's organization, which clearly shows you just what you need to know as well as what information is optional to learn. If you only purchase one book for your MCAT study needs, this 952-page book is the one. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Useless.
As a beginning screenwriter, completely new to the genre, I was assigned this book by my professor as a guide. It was recommended as essential reading for someone who wanted to write a screenplay for a feature film. If you're a beginning screenwriting student--a dilettante, a screenplay-curious writer, or an interested party of any kind--do not buy this book. It's the opposite of helpful. It's vague, incomplete in its explanations, archaic, imprecise, and generally useless. This book was the only one of its kind for years (i.e. a formatting guide). Now it's not. The newer books are more careful and streetwise. The Screenwriter's Bible The Screenwriter's Bible: A Complete Guide to Writing, Formatting, and Selling Your Script, just to pick one from the pack, is much better--and more reliable. This book, The Complete Guide to Standard Script Formats, etc., does not give you careful, complete information on how to format your script. That means your script will be at a strong disadvantage vs. other people's scripts--when you submit it or your agent gives it to an interested party. This guide will not help you make your script look professional. In fact, it's actually a liability. It's misguided. Don't waste your money.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Industry Standard for Professionals
I've worked in the hour-long TV business as writer's assistant, then staff writer, then producer, for almost 15 years, and I recommend this book to everyone I work with and all my students. This book was written by professional studio typists, back before there were word processors, when every produced script was typed by people who did that as their full time job.It contains THE industry standard for how scripts should look -- which is sometimes not the default setting of those expensive script programs. This book is MUST HAVE for anyone who wants to be a professional script coordinator or staff writer, and for anyone who wants their scripts to look just like professional ones.It isn't really designed for, or necessary for, people who are just starting out, although I personally think it should be required reading for every aspiring writer, especially in TV, because understanding how a script is used as a blueprint for filming, such how the scene headersare used to create the shooting schedule, can really help new writers to understand how to create a script that is not only interesting but filmable.Combine this with Ralph Singleton's Film Scheduling/Film Budgeting Workbook.Script formatting and scheduling programs are great timesaving tools, but you should be telling the programs how to format your script, not the other way around.

2-0 out of 5 stars An Old Book with a Homemade Look
I've just finished my first script. I suppose it's okay, but not awesome. I've read a half dozen books on screenplays. Of those books, this one is likely one of the least helpful. It was writen in 1983!! and hasn't been updated. I suspect that much of the formatting advice this book offers is now out of date, old fashioned to what professional script writers are doing this days. Two newer books I would recommend instead would be CRAFTY SCREENWRITING by Alex Epstein (2002) and HOW NOT TO WRITE A SCREENPLAY by Denny Flinn (1999). You'll get modern formatting information from these books PLUS a lot more useful advice about how to write well. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Interface
The interactive PDF is amazing! The multiple listening schedules really help you see how easy it can be to read the entire Bible.

Also, I was extremely excited to see that there were 2 file formats included. One is the interactive PDF DVD, which includes all audio, and the other is MP3, which is spread out onto 3 CD-ROM disks. You either listen directly from the interactive PDF DVD or simply import the MP3 files into iTunes, or whatever other audio player you like to use. The files are completely DRM free, so no need to worry about compatibility.

The only drawback (the reason for only 4 out of 5 stars) is that the reader uses a style of inflection that I find somewhat distracting.

3-0 out of 5 stars Adequate for MP3 player
I purchased this item so I could listen to the Bible on my Sansa Clip during my commute to work. The quality of the recording is good and after some adjustments, I was able to load it on my Clip. This item as recieved is disorganized and has limited functionality for use on an MP3 in that the chapters of each book are not organized into books as folders. It may work fine on a PC, however, the screen of MP3 players is small and if you want to listen to a particular chapter or book, you will be searching among 1,291 files! Prior to loading on my Clip, I loaded it on my PC and organized it by moving the chapters into folders as Books.I can now easily select what I wish to listen to by selecting a Book as I would select an album.

2-0 out of 5 stars review of NASB read by Stephen Johnston
I did not enjoy this product at all.It is amazing to me that Stephen Johnston has achieved so much success as a narrator of the Bible because his reading of the text was very unnatural. It was almost as if he had never read the bible before and didn't have any idea what was coming up next so as to put the inflections in the correct places. His bizar narration made it nearly impssible for me to concentrate on the content of what he was reading.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Cds!
Audio quality is very good, but not too much excitement. If you want simply words then this is perfect for you.

4-0 out of 5 stars quality CDs - only one bad point, but it can be avoided
Good points:
1) No drama, just a man speaking the Word of God
2) Sturdy case to hold all those CDs
3) Low cost in comparison to other CDs
4) Clear pronunciation
5) No defects in any of the CDs
6) Both the Old and New Testaments on CDs
7) If you lose or damage a CD, you can get a replacement for a modest shipping charge.

Bad point:
There are introductions to each book, and these introductions are not the Word of God.Unfortunately, those introductions (as with any Bible commentary) will influence your understanding in a negative way if you listen to them. When a book of the Bible begins, I press the "move to the next track" button on my CD player in order to avoid listening to the introduction. I recommend you do the same.

If you Google the narrator's name (Stephen Johnston), then you should be able to find some audio samples, so you can listen to him before you purchase this item.I did.

I listen to these CDs while driving, and sometimes at home. What a blessing.Praise God.
