    Extractions: This led to my first confrontation with what is known today as "artificial intelligence". Naturally I realized my computer would never be able to run that sort of calculation. But combination memory and the general circuitry were a step in the right direction. Many developments were predictable, of course, others were still in the realm of fantasy. I remember mentioning to friends back in 1938 that the world chess champion would be beaten by a computer in 50 years time. Today we know computers are not far from this goal. But even in those days quite a lot was achieved at the drawing board. Today we call this computer architecture. The latter type of machine is known as the John-von-Neumann computer, after its namesake who first produced it 10 years later together with Goldstine and Burks. We now know this was a very elegant solution. The question is why I did not use this concept in 1939 if I already knew about it. Well, at that time it would have been senseless to try to build that sort of machine, as the necessary facilities were simply not available. For example, storage capacity was not big enough to cope - an efficient program memory needs to be able to store several thousand words. Speed was also too low. It's true that floating point arithmetic can be performed by simply following a series of single instructions (as is the case today). But that means giving 10 to 20 times as many instructions. As long as the electronical prerequisites were not available it was a waste of time. Two things were needed first - high storage capacity - around 8,000 words, as in the first magnetic-drum memories - and electronic speed. Towards the end of the 40s this seemed possible, but as Germans we were not able to participate in this development at the time.

    Extractions: Konrad Zuse was brought up in Braunsberg, East Prussia where he attended the Humanistisches Gymnasium . He entered the Technisches Hochschule of Berlin- Charlottenburg in 1927 where he took courses in civil engineering. It was these studies in engineering which led Zuse to become interested in developing a mechanical device for calculating around 1934. He found that he had to spend many hours [4]:- ... working through the long statics calculations which are so important in the training of civil engineers... After graduating Zuse joined the Henschel Aircraft Company where he worked on stress analysis. In particular he studied the stresses caused by vibrations of an aircraft's wing. His work again involved a great deal of calculation and so, to help him perform these calculations, Zuse built his Z1 computer in his parents living room. This was due to the political situation in Germany from 1933 and the post war era. This is an article written in the German language where F.L. Bauer discusses the dispute of the invention of the stored program computer. Burks, A.W.; Goldstine, H.H. Neumann, John von: Preliminary Discussion of the Logical Design of an Electronical Computing Instrument, 1946. In: Taub, A.H. (Editor), Collected Works of John von Neumann, Vol. 5, New York, Macmillan, 1963, pp. 34-79. Also in Randell von 1973 , pp. 371ff. This is an article from 1946 in which the basic principles of a computer are explained. Here, the separation of the control unit, arithmetic unit, memory, and input and output devices are required. Burks et al. also proposed to store the program together with the data in the memory. However, Konrad Zuse had already implemented the separation of the different units of a computer in 1938 with the Z1 and in 1941 with the Z3. It is correct, that Konrad Zuses machines did not store the program in the memory of the machine. However, Konrad Zuse had already mentioned this possibility in 1936/37 Giloi, Wolfgang, K.: Konrad Zuse’s Plankalkül: The First High-Level "non von Neumann" Programming Language. IEEE Annals of the History of Computing, Vol. 19, No. 2, 1997.

Die Eingruppierung in eine Vergütungsgruppe hängt von der Tätigkeit ab, die ständig ausgeübt wird (Bewertung des Aufgabengebietes) und von dem Erfüllen der persönlichen Voraussetzungen (Ausbildung mit Abschluß). Wesentlich für die Eingruppierung des Beschäftigten ist die Festlegung konkreter Tätigkeitsmerkmale aus den Eingruppierungsregelungen, die durch den Begriff "Fallgruppe" ausgedrückt wird. Hieraus läßt sich auch die Teilnahme am Bewährungsaufstieg bzw. Zeitaufstieg nach Ablauf einer tariflich vorgegebenen Frist erkennen.
