Douglas was elected to the Northern Ireland Assembly in 1998 as an independent Unionist representing East Londonderry . With two other anti-agreement Unionists , he formed the United Unionist Coalition . The landing of the British Army at Aboukir Bay, and then the British Navy, under Nelson at the Battle of the Nile, spoiled Napoleon's plans for the East and for Egypt.
