Product Description
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.
Delve into what it was like to live during the eighteenth century by reading the first-hand accounts of everyday people, including city dwellers and farmers, businessmen and bankers, artisans and merchants, artists and their patrons, politicians and their constituents. Original texts make the American, French, and Industrial revolutions vividly contemporary.

Product Description
“I was born under unusual circumstances.” So begins the film adaptation of this 1920s story about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918 into the 21st century, a journey that is as unusual as any man’s life can be. Directed by David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club) from a screenplay by Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Good Shepherd), screen story by Eric Roth and Robin Swicord (Memoirs of a Geisha, Little Women), “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” stars Oscar nominees and winners Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchette, Tilda Swinton, and Julia Ormond. It is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A bit disappointed
I'm a big Fincher fan and liked this movie a lot, so I bought the book. Unfortunately, it's just a lot of big pictures from the movie with quotes and things like that. There isn't as much new information or behind the scenes stuff as I had hoped. Get it if you're a big fan of Fincher or the movie but otherwise I would skip.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you loved the film, you'll love this book
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button is a film that melds the elements of a great script and special effects into a phenomenal project. Watching the film I was entranced by how the film makers seamlessly applied the cgi with real actors and places. If you loved the film you'll particularly love this beautiful coffee table book. It's packed with beautiful photos, actor and director commentary and a behind the scenes look at the special effects employed in the film. It's a great addition to the library of any fan of modern cinema.

4-0 out of 5 stars lovely pictures
I loved the movie and wanted a way to re-live it before the movie comes out.Because it was based on a short story, this was very limited. The book is beautiful with great pictures and stories about production.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pictures of Poetry on Film - and Genius.
Gorgeous pictures of an exquisite motion picture. Even seeing how they managed the incredible special effects doesn't take away from the power and beauty of the film.
Just see the movie first, don't spoil it for yourself. The book will be a treasured momento of a stupendous film.
By the way, it's a full-sized, gorgeous coffee table book, a great gift for a favorite film buff - or just someone who adored the movie. ENJOY! ... Read more

Excerpt: William Ogilvie of Pittensearthe rebel professorwas the eighteenth century Scottish author of an influential historic land reform treatise. Published in London in 1782, An Essay on the Right of Property in Land was issued anonymously, necessarily it seems in a revolutionary age. Along with John Locke, John Stuart Mill, Thomas Paine, Adam Smith and othersOgilvie is seen as a leading proto-Georgist thinker. His masterwork was republished in 1838, then in 1891 (reprinted 1970) as the heart and subject of a much larger new work titled Birthright in Land, and in more recent years has been republished twice in modern, further expanded editions, using that same title. Ogilvie is cited as an influence by reformers internationally. The principal authority and main published source of information on William Ogilvie and his life is his nineteenth century biographer DC MacDonald, who says: The facts known about Ogilvies life are exceedingly scanty, and would of themselves be of little importance; but when considered along with the conception we form of the man as displayed on every page of his book, the smallest scrap of authentic information will in these days be of some interest, not only to men of enlarged and inquisitive minds, but also to readers in general. It is in the book, however, and in the book alone, that we meet face to face with the author. Ogilvie instilled his soul into it, and he left us evidence that it was the chief aim of his life. We, therefore, should as soon think of separating the... More: http://booksllc.net/?id=23994976 ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Resource for Win95
Briefly, I have been looking for a good non-Microsoft book that will offer a critical review of their latest OS - Win95. I had a client with a number of problems after an upgrade and I found the answers immediatly when I looked in the index. I then looked for other odd index topics and found reference to all of them. Other books, including MS Press titles, did not have reference or at least the depth that this book did. Buy it. Greg Barry ... Read more
