5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent SVG book for all skill levels
This is one of the best SVG books I've seen in a while. I think it is suited for all skill levels. The book makes good use of applying math to SVG. Whereas with other graphics tools you have to draw, the author shows how to use mathematical equations to create the images. Don't be intimidated--the math isn't that difficult. The book also shows a lot of images in color--somewhat rare these days, esp. for technical books. The book comes with a CD that has tons of samples--you're sure to find something that piques your interest. If you want to get up to speed in SVG, buy this book! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sensational updated book by Drs. Crenshaw & Aguilar!!!!!!!!
The medical evidence is THE most important aspect of any homicide case,
and, as with any such case, this vital factor is THE keystone to
demonstrating a conspiracy to murder President John F. Kennedy. In this
regard, I HIGHLY recommend this newly-updated and greatly-expanded
edition of the original best-selling version of Dr. Crenshaw's
"JFK-Conspiracy of Silence." In particular, the lengthy, detailed and
exhaustive NEW chapter from Drs. Gary Aguilar and Cyril Wecht alone is
THE greatest writing ever recorded on this intense subject and worth the
price of admission alone (as well as a Pulitzer Prize)! Although some
have sought to discredit Dr. Crenshaw without a proper knowledge of the
true facts, Aguilar and co. demonstrate that a) there are numerous
Warren Commission (primary source) references to Crenshaw's
participation in saving JFK's life, b) the vast majority of his
colleagues SUPPORT Crenshaw's claims of frontal injuries to JFK (ones
that could NOT have been caused by a lone gunman), and c) the infamous
1992 JAMA articles that attacked Crenshaw have themselves been largely
discredited (the end result: Crenshaw won a hard-fought court settlement
over the damage to his reputation). If you only buy one book on the JFK
assassination, let it be this one. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Eyewitness account trumps the jet theory
Gary Waltrip and the reader from Scotts Valley, CA can believe what they want. They can talk about shooting watermelons all they want. There are no watermelons in this book, no simulations, no speculations, just a description by a doctor who was among the team that examined Kennedy's wounds immediately after they happened.

As an aside, Stewart Galanor's book, "Cover-up" discusses and destroys the "jet effect." As for Posner's "Case Closed," it is a silly attempt by someone who is either naive to the extreme, or simply an errand boy doing the bidding of others. Research his background and you can come to your own conclusion on his motivations.

In closing, I will paraphrase Fletcher Prouty: "A cover story is like a balloon. It is not necessary to pierce it with dozens of needles to deflate it. Only a single needle will do." Charles Crenshaw provides a single needle with this book. The wounds in the autopsy photos are not those he saw when treating Kennedy moments after the shooting. Thus you have a conspiracy. It's that simple. The convoluted gymnastics that others go through to disprove conspiracy would be comical if the subject were not so serious.

5-0 out of 5 stars a European perspective
From a European perspective there is nothing new in the fact that John F. Kennedy was murdered by several assassins and that several shots were fired from the front - at least that is what I was taught at school in the seventies, with the cautionary remark that Americans were too naive to be able to accept the truth - the truth being not only the facts of the JFK murder but the much more sinister fact that they were lied at by several successive governments, by the CIA, the FBI, and almost all their mass media. Maybe it was easier to see this truth from a continent that had been ravaged by a horrible war where unbelievable atrocities had been committed in the name of governments. Maybe it was easier because the European nations had had more than their share of "Tyrannenmord" in the past. When I grew up during the "Cold War" I actually did not see that much difference between the Soviet government and the U.S. government. They used somewhat different methods to hush up their dirty secrets but they were both effective up to a point.

Apart from the simple facts which one of the eye-witnesses at last discloses this book strikes me most by the effect it had in its first edition. What is most strange and not a little frightening is the way the American media still dictate the people what to believe and what not. Even now, 40 years after, they are still trying to hide the truth, to distort what cannot be hidden, to spread disinformation, to influence or discredit witnesses, and in this case to shed doubt on the reliability and the reputation of a distinguished surgeon. In an unprecedented act of defamation a scientific(!) journal, the "Journal of the American Medical Association" (JAMA) called Dr Crenshaw's book "a fabrication". Crenshaw sued for "slander with malice" and won in court but the damage to his reputation cannot be undone. The motto of cover-up people has always been "Audacter calumniare, semper aliquid haeret". The courageous author of this book is no exception. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Here Is a Treasury of Information On Sir Oswald Mosley.
Here is a book that will please anyone looking for an extraordinary biography. I would also advise you to buy this book before it goes out of print. Nearly anything ever written about Mosley eventually gets sold out because there is usually a lot more interest in him than publishers forecast.

Many Americans know that Mosley was the most prominent British fascist leader prior to the Second World War, but few know that prior to that he was the member of parliament who was given the task of constructing an economic plan capable of getting Britain out of the Great Depression.

Although many leading socialists of the day supported his ideas, including his personal friend in America, Franklin Roosevelt, the British government was not bold enough to act, adopting the attitude of just muddling through.

That's why Mosley started up his fascist movement. The death of Mosley's first wife contributed to his determination to implement his ideas, and the private correspondence published in this book explains why for the first time.

After World War 2, Mosley's view was that the nationalisms of Europe were obsolete, and that the European economic cooperation of the EEC was the first wave of a better future. He also forecasted that within the United States the European population would find a similar reorganizing just as necessary. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars If you want a meaningless devotional time, buy this
Maybe that was a little too harsh. But I started using this book with my son a couple of weeks ago. I am always looking for good devotional books, and when I saw this had some good reviews and had enough material for a year, I decided to give it a try.

It is short all right -- maybe three or four sentences on each page. And my son always wants to know the story about the picture. But there is no story about the picture, because what is on the page doesn't relate.

When finding devotional material, I want something that will hold my son's interest while teaching him Biblical concepts. Because there is no story, it doesn't really hold his interest, and the content is so simplified that it is basically meaningless. After reading it, I often don't see anything we could possibly discuss!

If you want to have an empty ritual every day that you call "devotions," this may be a great book for you and your child to use. But if you want something that will both interest and teach your child, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent for toddler / prechoolers
I wasn't going to write a review but I couldn't help notice someone gave it a really bad review stating that it had to many pictures and pages. Well it's a DAILY DEVOTIONAL BIBLE just as it says on the cover. Its wonderful for those parents who want to start leading their children to GOD as soon as possible, a little bit each day. It has easy to understand text, short like my son's attention span too. This way he gets the story before he wonders off to his toy cars. Plus it has plenty of pictures which appeal to small children who learn by seeing![...]

4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book for everyone
My mom purchased this book for my little sister who is now six. They read the daily entry together. My mom had a lot of good things to say about the book so I looked at it (I am 18). It is a wonderful little book! All of the entries are really convicting and pertaining to your daily struggles in life. Because it is written for kids it is also easier to understand right away as well as faster to read on a busy day. I bought a copy for my friend when she graduated and hope I get one when I graduate too! A really good book for even adults and teens. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Three Years With Quantrill
Although I don't like giving a 5 star rating to any book this book deserves 6! This is the real stuff, pre WWII, pre WWI, PRE-TV! It was written at a time before historic brainwashing by movies and television existed. Before people were self conscious about telling the truth. We can see the actual format of the "Civil" War sentiments. He reveals the concepts of dying, of The North, Slavery, and other aspects of the era that we are usually forced to accept from modern day writings, reflecting only current, politically correct viewpoints. The down to earth flow of this book is very enjoyable and is great reading for anyone with interest in this subject matter.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent firsthand information
If you are looking for truth about what happened in Missouri during the War betwen the states this book is for you. 5-0 out of 5 stars A Taster for the Eternal
Oswald Chambers is one of the greatest Christian spiritual mentors one could hope for. This book is actually a collection from his writings of some of the most throught-provoking statements he has made about the genuineness of Christian living and the vitality of Christian intimacy with a intensely personal, if often unfathomable God. He dares to go into the difficult areas of faith, without a whiff of unpalatable jargonism or easy platitudes that grate. The collection is arranged thematically around thoughts about Faith in relation to the world, the flesh, the evil, our heart, minds and soul. The profoundity inherent in his comments stirs the deepest thought and soul-searching, an assessment of where the believer-pilgrim is en route to Zion. Each page contains a series of questions which probe the inner recesses of our heart and an honest consideration of where one stands as a struggling christian. For example, "when I am surrounded by darkness, do I see nothing or do I see God? Do I consider darkness an opportunity to rest or a reason to become restless? What good reason might God have for keeping me in the dark"? And "Am I tied down by my faith in earthly convictions or set from from earthly convictions by faith in heavenly promises?" "Am I a channel of God's blessing to others or only a consumer?". Folks, Chambers cuts to the chase and asks deep questions we would do well to repeatedly confront in our own lives. Hopefully, this excellent collection will be a taster to introduce the reader to Chambers other books - particularly the incredible "Baffled to Fight better", "The highest good", and "Christian disciplines". Chambers is perhaps best know for his "My Utmost for His Highest" collection of daily meditations but this is a writer whose other books merit widespread reading, particularly if you are struggling with believing in faith and trust in the goodness of God when all the evidence around you seems to contradict this. Chambers inspires, and humbles the reader and his honest writings offers solace and courage for the soul, and a hope to carry on that is firmly rooted in Jesus Christ, what He has done, and all that is to come. This book is a great "taster" to Chamber's work in general and a wonderful book to keep on the desk, to flip through during the course of the day as an aid to rise above the mundanity of life and living, to remind ourselves of what's really important, to invest in us a perspective of the eternal that will transform and energise how we live our lives as aliens and strangers on this planet. Food for the soul and fuel for the mind. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Must Read
This work is refreshingly different and deserves a prominent place on the bookshelf of anyone interested in the JFK assassination. I especially liked the make-sense, easy-to-follow format the author used. He first proved, beyond any doubt, there was only one gunman involved. Then, he makes it clear that gunman was Lee Harvey Oswald. Finally, Canal goes on to convincingly show why Oswald must have acted alone. Facts that should have been revealed in books long ago buttress his case. For instance, the author details how a late change to the motorcade route helps prove there was no conspiracy. I might add that change to the route is totally different from the one Jim Garrison brought out in 1969. He also introduces important new information about the bullet fragments recovered from President Kennedy's head. But, in Part II, when the author began laying out his theory on how and why New Orleans Mob boss, Carlos Marcello had Oswald "hit," for reasons not connected with the asassination, I was skeptical. Well, I wouldn't have bet on it, but, by the time he presented this controversial, if not, somewhat incredible explanation about Oswald's murder, I was a believer. And, who would have thought a simple library card, that Oswald supposedly used, could turn out to be such an important part of the evidece in this case? Canal shows why...in detail.I guarantee this book will change ppular opinion on this case. Conspiracy? I don't think so.....not after reading this!

4-0 out of 5 stars I still think there was a conspiracy, However . . .
You ever disagree on a topic and then later find out that maybe you might not have all the facts? In my case, this is the assassination of JFK. I have read over thirty books on the assassination and most point to a conspiracy. Along comes John Canal and maybe, just maybe I need to rethink my position.

While I am still leaning to the conspiracy angle, Canal give a well documented and well-written book that may, may have you think again. Over the last four decades the answers have been shrouded in a world of mystery and cover-ups, now some of those clouds are disappearing.

Canal uses extensive evidence from ballistics expert testimonies, newly acquired evidence and his own simulations to formulate the assassination, his arguments are clear, well documented and extremely convincing. This reader was most impressed by the layout of his findings.

The other thing I liked about this book was the way the author used phone records of Oswald and Ruby to track the movements of both men. This is the first time I had ever read any book that detailed this are of the assassination. While I still believe in multiple shooters, this book does give you another side to consider - well done!

2-0 out of 5 stars Why was this book written?
If anybody is going to read this book let me save you time. Go and read Posner's "Case Closed" or the "Warren Commission Report" because this is all the book is. While the book is easy reading, the author does not look at the evidence. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to see that the shooting of Kennedy could not have been done by one person. Canal disregards witness testimony's that claim they heard shots from other locations than the TSBD. Read the "Warren Report" it's better than this book, which doesn't say much. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book on facts about libraries and books
I really enjoyed this well written reference book about libraries and books.

The author uses exhaustively research throughout to present fascinating superlatives. We displayed a copy in our library and already it has been stolen. Recommend that libraians keep a watch on thier on copies!

The author's has done a great job compiling the book. Because the book is easy to read and follow, it well also appeal to high school kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars A special book for your bookshelf
Make no mistake about this fact: We all love superlatives, everyone wants to know about the oldest, the best, the largest, the smallest, the most expensive, etc

But it has been a long time since anyone decided to do serious research on book and library superlatives.

The guys who gave us "The Guinness Book of World Records" somehow neglected the library and book world, so if someone asked: Where can we find the oldest books and manuscripts in the world? or What is the name of the largest and smallest books in the world? we would be left scratching our heads as until now there was no reliable record book covering such facts.

Enter: "Library World Records" I congratulate Mr Oswald for completing such a special book, 264 pages (plus 112 photograhs) of facts on books and libraries around the world. What I liked so much about this book is its international coverage, because thats what the book is all about: World Records about books and libraries.

So if I wanted to know about the biggest university library in Africa, the oldest public library in Asia, the first book to be printed in Europe, the biggest bookstores in Brazil, or the most expensive book sold in the U.S., I only have to look it up in the index pages of "Library World Records"

"Library World Records" is also an invaluable reference book for researchers and students because the book also has an academic value, blending fascinating trivia and with well written facts tracing the history of books and libraries over time, and bringing out the book in paperback format is a good idea.
