Product Description
This is a standard two-semester text for a first course in numerical analysis at the advanced undergraduate level, offering unique coverage of numerical approximation/interpolation, graphics, and parallel computing. A portion of the programs are written in Turbo Pascal. The remainder are pseudocode or generalized algorithms. Because other texts use FORTRAN or just pseudocode, the Turbo Pascal flavor of the Buchanan/Turner text sets it apart and makes it particularly appropriate for the typical undergraduate with Pascal programming skills and access to a personal computer. ... Product Description
Each week of this three week meeting was a self-contained event, although each had the same underlying theme - the effect of parallel processing on numerical analysis. Each week provided the opportunity for intensive study to broaden participants' research interests or deepen their understanding of topics of which they already had some knowledge. There was also the opportunity for continuing individual research in the stimulating environment created by the presence of several experts of international stature. This volume contains lecture notes for most of the major courses of lectures presented at the meeting; they cover topics in parallel algorithms for large sparse linear systems and optimization, an introductory survey of level-index arithmetic and superconvergence in the finite element method. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The names that matter
I've always found this an invaluable reference book over the years, mainly because of the editorial format.Eighty-two photographers, each with a short introduction are included and a portfolio of between four and seven photos (a few only have one).Usefully, though they are placed into four chapters with long introductions written by Gerry Badger (1945-1950) Jonathan Green (1950-1960) Bill Jay (1960-1970) and Lewis Baltz (1970-1980).

Peter Turner's selection was just right because all of these photographers were or have turned out to be creative artists of stature who influenced photography, not only in America but around the world.Actually I think it would be difficult to name someone in photography between 1940 and 1980 who has been left out.

The 256 pages are designed in a straightforward manner, with the photos printed in a 200 screen on rather ordinary paper; the paper is the only slight letdown for me.Two other books that I use for reference are worth mentioning: American Photography: A Critical History 1945 to Present by Jonathan Green and American Century of Photography by Keith Davis. Both of these plus Turner's, I've found to be as complete an overview of American photography up to the new century as you'll find anywhere.Incidentally I would recommend the second revised edition of the Davis book, it's editorial is 50% larger than the first edition.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Book on a Fascinating Area
This book is, despite being a bit dated now, far more thoroughly researched than most other LP guides. It is well worth having on a trip to Nusa Tenggara, even if you already have the general Indonesia guide (whose coverage of this region is far less extensive).
If only all LP guides were written by this author!
A word of warning though: despite the title, this book DOES NOT cover most of Indonesia's eastern islands, only the smaller region of Nusa Tenggara or Southeastern Islands. ... Read more

Product Description
The London Court of Arbitration (LCIA) is one of the world's foremost arbitration institutions, with a growing annual caseload. The LCIA Arbitration Rules are among the most modern and forward-looking of the various sets of institutional arbitration rules but until now have not been the subject of in-depth study. This is the first full length and comprehensive commentary on the rules, written by two well-known and experienced arbitration practitioners. Portable and functional, this book acts as a guide and provides an indispensable resource for all involved in international arbitration under the LCIA rules.

Grouped thematically, the commentary to each rule provides 1) a description of the rule and its intended meaning 2) the provenance and history of the rule 3) the practical effect of the rule with reference to previous case law and jurisprudence and 4) a comparative look at conceptual and practical differences between each rule. Focusing specifically on how the rules of the LCIA differ from those of the ICC and the UNCITRAL, this title emphasizes the international nature of the LCIA and provides the only dedicated reference to the Rules. ...
