Purchase of this book includes free trial access to www.million-books.com where you can read more than a million books for free. This is an OCR edition with typos.Excerpt from book:BOOK I.OF THE PHLEGMASIE.J. HE Phlegmasiae are those symptomatic fevers in which the local affection is inflammation ; when this is external, it is known by the symptoms already laid before the reader ; when it is internal, a fixed pain and lesion of function point out its seat. To prevent repetition it will be proper, before we enter on the particular species of the pblegmasicc, to make some general observations on this order of .disease.CHAP. I. Of the Symptoms of the Phlegmasiee.JL HE only mark of distinction which can be given between simple inflammation and the phlegmasire is the presence of fever in the latter. There is certainly some difference between a pimple and a boil, and between erythema of the face and erysipelas. AndG 4 thisthis difference in general is sufficiently evident; yet when we come to .enumerate the symptoms, we find the general increase of temperature and frequent pulse the only ones to distinguish them. In both instances the symptoms of the local affection are redness, increased temperature, pain, and swelling, the only difference which can be pointed out being merely in degree. We cannot therefore give any other account of the local affection of the phlcg- masije than has been given of simple inflammation. Between the two sets of diseases the fever is a sufficient diagnosis, the want of any other is not therefore to be regretted. The combinations of inflammation and fever are of three different kinds, to one of which only the term phlegmasis is applied; the others being of a nature very different from phlegmasiae, and requiring very different modes of practice.Inflarnmation and fever may be combined by a simple inflammation supervening on fever, as in the exanthemata; or they may be combined by the inflammation producing fe... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars All About Hard And Soft Money
Is the oval office for sale to the highest bidder? Perhaps. This is the guide to the big-money interests behind presidential candidates. This book will never be out-of-date for a long time since the poison of money in politics is not going away anytime soon. Cover price $14.00.

5-0 out of 5 stars Important Account
An important analytical account of the issue of hard and soft money going towards camapign fundraising in the US presidential race. It effectively, and simply highlights the growing amounts of money that is being pushed into campaigns, and an important outcome is the need for sensible campaign reform principlly placing a ceiling on campaign expenditure to overcome the ludicrous state of US campiagn financing and expenditure.

5-0 out of 5 stars Every American Should Read This Book
Stop reading and just push the Buy It Button. Excellently written and carefully researched. This book is a damning indictment of the political process itself, as well as the two parties and all of their representatives. It explains in detail who owns our `elected officials' and why are democracy is failing. No one is spared. After reading it you will be unable to vote for the tweedle dee/tweedle dumb hacks that the political establishment puts forth every election cycle. This book will never be out dated. Even after the election it will serve as an example for the future. It reveals the reasons laws are specifically written to aid special interests (see especially the Bradley section). I disagree strongly with Mr. Cohn's complaint about objectivity. How can one feign objectivity about the mass corruption that is destroying our society? Read it, live it! Get out of the two party rut; this book explains why you must. I also recommend the 1996 version.

4-0 out of 5 stars Makes me want to vote Libertarian!
Good insight on how the major political party candidates try to buy the election. After reading this book, I will definetely be voting Libertarian (or perhaps another third party un-tainted by big money). We should notencourage this sort of behavior by giving the major party guys the onething we still have left- our vote!

4-0 out of 5 stars Incisive.
This book shines a spotlight on the special, and often secret, interests that have heavily invested in the politicians who are seeking the nation's highest office. ... Read more

Product Description
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.
This collection reveals the history of English common law and Empire law in a vastly changing world of British expansion. Dominating the legal field is the Commentaries of the Law of England by Sir William Blackstone, which first appeared in 1765. Reference works such as almanacs and catalogues continue to educate us by revealing the day-to-day workings of society.
