5-0 out of 5 stars The Theater Experience
This is the best buy ive ever made in college. I must have spent a couple hundred dollars on other books and i was so happy that i found this one for less then 20$. I recomend buying this book from amazon because the store value is alot more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sorry!
Sorry for the late review I am new to Amazon. BUT the book is great came on time and in great condition!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful
very good book it is a keeper on how theater is run even though I used it for a humanities course that I will never have to have again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good as the 11th edition from what I can tell.
I bought this book for an intro to Theater class that requires the 11th edition. I figured I'd give saving some money a shot, then went through the chapters and compared the chapter titles with the chapter titles in the syllabus after classes started. Wouldn't you know it, they ended up being the same chapters with occasional renaming, but back one. For example, chapter four in the eleventh edition is the same as chapter three in this one. (Chapter 5, aka chapter 4 in the 10th edition, has a different title: "Stage Spaces" became "Theater Spaces.") Otherwise, from what I can tell, they're practically similar.

How did this happen, you ask? The introductory chapter in the tenth edition doesn't have a chapter number, and in the eleventh edition, it got one. ... Read more

Product Description
Distinguished investigative reporter Joseph Trento has written the most authoritative indictment of CIA splinter groups, two generations of Bush family involvement in illegal financial networks, and the funding of the agents of terror. Prelude to Terror reveals the history of a corrupt group of spymasters — led by Ted Shackley — who were fired when Jimmy Carter became president, but who maintained their intelligence portfolio and used it to create a private intelligence network. After this rogue group helped engineer Carter’s defeat in 1980 and allied with George H.W. Bush, these former CIA men planned and conducted what became the Iran-Contra scandal and, through the Saudis, allied the U.S. with extreme elements in Islam. The CIA’s number-one front man, Edwin P. Wilson, was framed by Shackley and his cohorts so that Wilson’s operations could be taken over. For the first time the story of how CIA director George H. W. Bush was recruited into this network, and brought it into the bosom of the Saudi royal family, is told in detail, as well as how this group’s manipulation of the CIA bureaucracy allowed Osama bin Laden’s fundraising to thrive as al Qaeda flourished under Saudi and CIA protection. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Theatre Experience Review
The text is very opinionated. I was hoping for more detail on theatre production and the experience rather than rambling on the sorry state of affairs in our society. Mr. Wilson does give insight into productions and the interaction among actors and the audience but way too much editorializing. It is required for my class but I think a different book is in order.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book That Falls Apart a Little at the End
This is an excellent book that is interesting, very well organized and extremely well written.

Then World War II ends and the book fails to remain interesting or well organized.Basically it falls apart.I believe that what happened is that without historical concensus to determine what is important and less important, the book bogs down as it delivers raw facts about present day theater without a framework or context to organize the message.

Never the less, I am keeping the book at 5 stars because if you are looking to read a book on Theater History, this is the one to get. It's a first class read through WWII.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent condition and great material for furthering my education
My book came in excellent condition and I recieved it promptly. I will certainly deal with this bookshop again and again!!!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Eh... not the greatest
True, this book is full of great information. If that's your only basis for analysis, then fine, it's good.

But it tries to be so politically correct that at some points it can't speak at all. Many of the paragraphs are phrased quite redundantly, + there are entire sections of expository text that are a waste of time.

I'm just glad I had a good professor to teach me this, or I would have absolutely hated this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Living Theatre: A History
Just what the professor ordered! My son is quite pleased with this purchase. He needed the text for his theatre class in college. Thanks for the speedy delivery.

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent resource for any person studying theater.
This is a [must have] for anyone who desires to study theater outside of high school and into college. Throughout my studies in college, I constantly referred back to this piece for references. It is an expensive book, but trust me. You will get your money's worth out of this one. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A typicalWWII general
General Patrick was one of the very few General officers killed in battle during WWII. This study shows how the general was a the typical product of the inter-war Army educational system. Highly recommended to anyone who is interested on how the army turned out officers ready to command in a global war.

5-0 out of 5 stars Commanding General 6th Inf Division,DOW Luzon 1945.
General Patrick was by all accounts a commander who combined combat efficiency with a kind and considerate nature, and the fact of his death at the head of his division speaks for itself.(There were only two other American division commanders killed in action in World War II; Rose of the 3rd Armored, and Wharton of the 28th Infantry Divisions).
The main interest of this work however is the careful delineation of the training of officers in the period between the World Wars, when the emaciated American Army had to substitute staff schools and war colleges for actual command of large formations. General Patrick was a product of this training and his story demonstrates how well the system served the American people.

5-0 out of 5 stars The foundations of 100 years of physics
Gibbs was one of the few great American mathematical physicists. In this book you will find a complete treatment of dyadic operators that is noticeably absent from most books that came after it.
It was Gibbs himself, along with Oliver Heaviside that turned away from Hamilton's quarternion algebra and decided to invent the vector calculus that every physics student since then has learned and used in their careers. I believe that if they did not do this, then physics would have only been accessible to very few of the most brilliant, because almost no one was ready for quarternions or Clifford Algebra that we now see used today. Vector Calculus was the "midwife" of mathematical physics and analytical geometry, and because of its physically intuitive quality, it enabled "the rest of us" to learn this, the finest of the sciences.
I heartily recommend this book and urge its complete study. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Scripture Keys
Wilson's explanation of the make-up of man (body, soul and spirit) is THE key to understanding those Bible questions you've had rolling around in your head most of your Christian life but your youth minister, bible class teacher or even your pastor could not answer them (i.e. "How can Ephesians 2:8 and Phil 2:12 both be true?" or "How can we be sure of the security of our salvation and believe everything in the book of James?"). It's an easy, fast read with plenty of scripture and common sense explanations. A must for any Christian's library.

4-0 out of 5 stars Do you believe the Bible or "Mark Adams"?
The "racist" writings of A. Edwin Wilson referred to by Mark Adams are certainly subject to examination and classification. If Mark's admittedly narrow-minded view of this publication is enough to scare you away, you will be missing out on a lot more. In one chapter of this book, Wilson deals with a curse that Noah pronounced upon his grandson, Canaan. This curse, teaches Wilson, was multi-generational in nature and carries through to this day, for reasons brought forth in scripture. Segregation was a way of life at the time of Wilson's writing, and it is incorporated into the theme, but certainly not in the spirit of Mark Adams' shrieking claims of racism. Since Mark was unable to prevent physical and online distribution of this book, he has gone to great lengths in an online campaign against this book, and has very likely hosted several book burnings and ice cream socials, frothing at the mouth as he cries, "Set my people free!"

Of course, only 1 of the book's many chapters touches on such "taboo" subjects as segregation. The remainder of the book involves teachings of the kingdom from the Bible, by a man pre-eminently qualified to teach on such subjects, and is quite enriching and controversial in nature. Mark Adams does NOT want you to read this book!

1-0 out of 5 stars Racist themes offend
A. Edwin Wilson preached the "Word of the Kingdom," arguing that unfaithful Christians will be excluded from the presence of God in the millennial rule of Christ. He also preached segregation. "What God has separated, let not man integrate!" -- chapter 15. I suppose you could argue Wilson was simply a man of his times (he pastored in the South), but the book was published in 1981! Wilson died in 1987. Neither the author, the publisher, nor the editor of the book bothers to explain why such rhetoric is relevant in post-Jim-Crow America.

The book remains unchanged in subsequent printings.

As an artifact of a bygone era, I guess the book is worth owning. No doubt we should preserve history. But I found the book's themes disgusting. It's very sad to see a man leave that sort of legacy. (Ironically, the book was published to honor the man!) ... Read more
