Product Description
The significance of organometallic chemistry has constantly increased during the second half of this century. The Gmelin Institute recognizes this fact in publishing an entire series on organometallic compounds. This series has now started with the description of the organogermanium compounds. The present second volume in the organogermanium series continues the description of Ge(CH3)3R compounds, beginning with R=alkenyl and concluding with R=heterocycle. The remaining part of the volume covers completely the type Ge(C2H5)3R, which is the most voluminous of the GeR3R compounds. The volume concludes with an empirical formula index. ... Read more

Product Description
This volume covers all of the chemical, physical, and catalytic properties of over 1000 mononuclear unbridged di- and trisubstituted ferrocenes. Central chiral nomenclature is employed for optically active compounds. The first, and largest section describes di- and trisubstituted ferrocenes with P-containing substituents. Their importance is based on their ability to influence the course of synthetic reactions for organic compounds as ligands of transition metal complexes, particularly for Ni, Co, Rh, and Pd complexes. The chiral ferrocenylphosphines are of special interest in that their optically active forms catalyse asymmetric syntheses in which compounds of high optical purity can be obtained (up to > 90% ee). The second largest section describes the di- and trisubstituted Li compounds. They permit the synthesis of ferrocene derivatives obtainable otherwise only with difficulty. The structure of the adduct, ÄFe(C5H4Li)2Ü3 . 2(CH3)2NCH2CH2N(CH3)2, is quite unusual and is illustrated in the volume. Disubstituted ferrocenes containing other metallic elements and all unbridged, trisubstituted ferrocenes are described. General reviews are given in most sections. The volume contains a formula index. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Product Description
Organometallic compounds have been attracting a great deal of attention. They have a practical importance, and the work on these compounds has raised and answered significant theoretical questions. A few years ago the Gmelin-Institute initiated three series on organoiron compounds. Series A describes ferrocene and its derivatives, Series B describes the mononuclear compounds, and Series C describes the compounds with two or more iron atoms per molecule. Some volumes have been published in each of these series and further volumes are on the way. This volume continues the description of unbridged disubstituted ferrocenes, FeC10H8R1R2, by treating compounds in which at least R1 contains N, S, Se, B, or Si. The description of the unbridged disubstituted ferrocenes was initiated with in "Eisen-Organische Verbindungen A, Ferrocene 7 (starting with R1 and R2 containing C and H, and at least R1 containing halogen and continuing with compounds containing at least O and R1 to form alcohols and phenols, their esters, ethers, acetals, and aldehydes), and was followed by "Organoiron Compounds" A, Ferrocene 8 (with at least R1 containing O). Ferrocene 8 contains the formula index for the compounds covered in the volumes Ferrocene 7 and 8. "Organoiron Compounds" A, Ferrocene 9 systematically covers the literature through the end of 1986 and even includes some references published more recently. A formula index provides ready access to the compounds covered. Series A so far comprises volumes A 1 to A 9, and it has been surveyed in the preface to A 7 (1980). ... Read more

Product Description
Volume Organoiron Compounds B 14 systematically covers the literature through the end of 1986 and includes most references from 1987 and some from 1988. The volume continues Series B (volumes B 1 to B 13 already published) on mononuclear organoiron compounds. Series A (volumes A 1 to A 8 already published) is devoted to the ferrocenes and Series C (volumes C 1 to C 5 and C 7 already published) treats organoiron compounds with two or more Fe atoms in the molecule. The present volume completes the description of C5H5Fe(CO)2R compounds. The volume is completed by a formula and ligand index covering both volumes B 13 and B 14. ... Read more
