5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
This book is great!I use it in social skills groups with children of all different ability levels (not just Asperger's children). The lessons are very well thought out and planned and the children really understand the concepts.I would highly recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
The book is very easy, practical and informative!I work with children with autism and aspergers and recommend the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
This book has step by step instructions on social skills and I love the easy to read and teach format.I don't know if my son has Asperger's, but he really struggles with social skills and this has been a great help to us.

5-0 out of 5 stars very practical workbook
I found this book very useful. It lists skills a child should have, which are so inherent to those who don't have this probelm, they are actually hard to think of on your own.For each skill it gives examples and ways to encourage gaining the skill.Every parent whose child's social skills aren't up to par with their peers will benefit from this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for Social Skills Training
This book is an excellent resource for those who want to assist children and young adults with social skills training. There are clear cut lessons and activities that cover a variety of topics from how to greet others to asking someone on a date.Very valuable for those who need concrete examples of the correct way to approach many different social situations. Could be used for children on the autism spectrum, but also for any child who could benefit from practice in social interaction, even those who are shy. Anyone who lives and works with students who have social skills defecits would find this book useful. ... Read more

Product Description
For children with Down syndrome, communicating is just as urgent and essential as it is for anyone else.In the newly updated and expanded edition of Communication Skills in Children with Down Syndrome, Libby Kumin offers comprehensive, authoritative, and practical advice based on her nearly 25 years of firsthand experience with kids with Down syndrome. She explains the role of a SLP, the stages of communication development, and how certain characteristics of Down syndrome, such as low muscle tone, hearing loss, and cognitive delays, can slow progression of those skills.Delays can lead to frustration and other problems for children who do not have intelligible speech until age 2 or later.

EARLY COMMUNICATION SKILLS FOR CHILDREN WITH DOWN SYNDROME focuses on speech and language development from birth through the stage of making 3-word phrases, which is often around kindergarten age, but can occur later. This book offers a wealth of information on intelligibility issues, hearing loss, apraxia (difficulty planning oral-motor movements), and other factors that affect communication for children with Down syndrome. It explains how to prepare for and understand the results of speech-language assessment, and goes on to describe what to expect in the years ahead when a child enters elementary school.

Throughout the new edition, the author incorporates the latest research on Down syndrome and communication development. She has added new chapters on high- and low-tech augmentative and alternative communication options, as well as articulation and literacy (how reading aids in the learning of language, speech, and auditory skills).New checklists on evaluating and treating speech problems, and numerous home activities designed to help children master each stage of communication development have also been added. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource
I consider this book, along with the gross and fine motor skills books, my primary written resources for working with my 7mth son with Down Syndrome. The information is clearly written, easy to understand and comes with activities that you can do to help with speech skills. I use these books to supplement what we have learned from the early intervention therapists. I highly recommend them for any new parent of a child with Down Syndrome.

5-0 out of 5 stars Intervention Strategies
This is a great resource for both professionals and parents. The author does an excellent job of explaining the various aspects of speech and language and the challenges a child with Down syndrome may face. She also gives intervention ideas that are well suited to these difficulties and are easy to integrate.I was very pleased with this book, especially for the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Down syndrome book
I found this book to be helpful when working with a child who has Down syndrome.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even with Speech Therapy this book is useful.
Don't put it all on your therapist to teach your child.Take it into your own hands...it is your child. This book is great for your child of any age.It is really good for someone who has a little one because it talks about oral motor issues that could delay the speech and how to work on them.Libby is the Speech guru in the Down syndrome world...but you may have already know that.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent suggestions and explanations
Bought for use in a parent-infant education program for children infant to 3. Written with parents in mind so that it is not full of medical-speak, and full of suggestions, this is a good book for anyone working with or parenting a child with low tone or multiple issues that interfere with language development. ... Product Description

For yoga teacher Judith Hanson Lasater and her husband, mediator Ike K. Lasater, language is a spiritual practice based on giving and receiving with compassion. In What We Say Matters, they offer new and nurturing ways of communicating. Long-term students of yoga and Buddhism, the authors here blend the yoga principle of satya (truth) and the Buddhist precept of right speech with Marshall Rosenberg's groundbreaking techniques of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in a fresh formula for promoting peace at home, at work, and in the world. The authors offer practical exercises to help readers in any field learn to diffuse anger; make requests rather than demands or assign blame; understand the difference between feelings and needs; recognize how they strategize to get needs met; choose connection over conflict; and extend empathy to themselves and others.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent - Every Yoga Teacher Should Read This Book!!
Skillful communication is perhaps a yoga teacher's most valuable asset. With What We Say Matters: Practicing Non-Violent Communication, Judith Lasater and husband Ike Lasater have given us a gem to better light the paths of yoga teachers and students alike. The basic thread of their message is that our language reflects what's happening inside; getting clearer inside about our own thoughts and feelings allows us to engage with others in ways that embody deeper empathetic understanding. Put differently, when we are in our own truth - mindful of who we are, how we feel, and what we need in the present moment - we are more capable of listening to others and honoring their needs.

I had the fortune many years ago to take a number of workshops at with Judith Lasater. In one she spoke eloquently from a place of deep experience about "taking the seat of the teacher," which involves first being honest with ourselves about our intentions and then relating with our students from that place. In What We Say Matters, she and Ike Lasater take this a step further, giving us practical tools for cultivating clearer self-awareness and thereby finding ways of conversing that are consonant with the primary yogic value of non-violence. While I discuss various aspects of student-teacher communication in my book, Teaching Yoga: Essential Foundations and Techniques, the Lasaters' give this topic the more concentrated focus it deserves.

Every yoga teacher should read and re-read this book, do all the workbook exercises, and follow the authors' suggested homework exercises - such as reflective journaling - for exploring their self-awareness and related qualities of communication. I will also recommend this book to all of my students; indeed, it's essential reading for anyone interested in a more peaceful, honest, and happy life.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent introduction to the principles of Nonviolent Communication
NOTE:I received a free review copy of this book from the publisher.

This book, written by married couple Judith and Ike Lasater, describes the techniques of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) a method developed by Marshall Rosenberg. The authors begin by introducing the basic concepts of the NVC method, breaking down the process into four simple steps involving observations, feelings, needs, and requests.Specific examples of both feelings and needs are provided, and at the end of each chapter, suggestions are given for ways to practice what you have learned in that section. The volume continues in this basic manner, with the authors presenting additional skills to be used in conjunction with the principle elements of NVC.Some of these added components include making conversational choices, such as giving empathy to ourselves and/or others, and increasing personal awareness.

In the second half of the book, the authors address communication skills in more specific situations, including talking to partners, talking to children/parents, talking at work, and bringing NVC into the world. For the partners section, Judith and Ike are able to provide a unique perspective, using examples from their own marriage.Similarly, in discussing children, the authors acknowledge the challenges they faced within their own family, reflecting on the especially trying toddler and teenage years.I found myself particularly interested in the applications of NVC to workplace situations. In this chapter, Ike focuses on efficiency in communication, not only verbal contacts but also other forms of communication such as e-mail and voice mail messages.Although I found this section useful, I would have liked to have seen some more specific examples. For instance, Ike mentions that he sometimes drafts his e-mails using NVC language, then re-writes them using more colloquial wording; it would have been very helpful to have included before and after samples here.

Overall, this book provides a basic, useful introduction to the principles of NVC.The techniques are presented in a simple, straightforward manner, and I especially liked that the authors applied the method to a variety of situations/settings.However, the authors specifically state that it took them years to learn how to become more adept at NVC techniques.Although their book is clearly an attempt to simply this process--in fact, they note in their introduction that "learning NVC needn't be so difficult"--it seems clear that *mastering* NVC is something that indeed requires a great deal of motivation, commitment, dedication, and time. However, this book offers an excellent introduction to the method.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Solution for World Peace?
Imagine if you could purchase the tools needed to gain world peace for only $15? That sounds like a joke, doesn't it? It is my belief that the book entitled What We Say Matters by Dr. Judith and Ike Lasater has the ability to do just that if everyone in the world followed their great suggestions. (That is the tricky part, isn't it? lol....)

What We Say Matters is a very powerful book about the effect our everyday communications have on the world around us. With techniques drawn from their extensive work with NVC, or Nonviolent Communication, Dr. Judith and Ike Lasater bring us through simple techniques that we can use to retrain our communication towards making peace with the people we interact with on a daily basis - especially our intimate connections that we have with our family and friends.

I have been a proponent of conflict resolution communication techniques for much of my adult life but have never come across anything so simple and easy to implement as the techniques displayed within this book. If you find yourself challenged by your dealings with others (honestly, who hasn't?) you should do yourself a favor and read this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars What We Say Matters
This is a valuable book for learning how to effectively communicate. It is about nonviolent communication, but it also ties in Yoga Philosophy. I find it to be quite readable!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I love anything written by Judith Hanson Lasater and this book was a very pleasant surprise as it deals with a subject matter that I really read about - Empathy and nonviolent communication.

Ever since I have discovered yoga, I have also tried to listen more to my inner voice and realized just how negative and at times, hurtful, my thoughts can be.I seriously believe that this translates into my thoughts affecting my moods, my body, my spirit and everything outside of me - i.e. how I deal with people and situations.

Reading What We Say Matters was an eye opener and actually confirmed alot of things that I always suspected.I like that the authors compare speech to spirituality and argue that both can be combined in a nonviolent and loving manner. They encourage us to use compassion and to cultivate this compassion in every interaction that we have both with the outside world and with our internal communications.

Written almost from a personal level, the authors share some of their stories and give us englightment as to how to apply a kinder, gentler way in our communications - which starts internally with ourselves. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars mindless garbage....
I've never written a negative review about a textbook before, but finally after being forced to read this book for my IC class, I am compelled to speak my mind.

As a person who's lived around the world many times, this book is seriously incorrect on SO MANY levels in terms of racial, cultural, and gender values. I've never read a text book with SUCH biased assumptions like this one. Judging by the text, it seems like the author (Julia T. Wood) is someone who really lacks experience being around different cultures and instead of basing information from real life experience, she bases it off other naive/generalized sources like most of us Americans do. And the thing that set me off the most is that she tries to convince the reader that these opinions are sheer fact! Also her rants on how ONLY women are vocal about relationships and men aren't? Sounds like she's had bad experience with men and tries reflect that in the book...just kidding on that part but overall, it's nonsense.

Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of insightful information in the book like terms used for stages in communication that I never knew there were names for. But other than that, the text was just plain biased or based off common knowledge. If you're an easily programmed person, who needs a book to better his/her communications instead of actually experience communicating in real life, this book is perfect for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great!

4-0 out of 5 stars A must read!!!
This book is must read for any networking/data communications amateur and specialist! I thought it was very expensive and only bought it because it is a required text for a course in Data Communications that I am pursuing.Having read it, I am not disappointed.

It is written in a language that makes it easy to understand. There are lots of exercises, case studies and hands and labs that help to reinforce the knowledge.Excellent book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Buy
The book was in great condition and it was the best price I could find. The book arrived very quickly.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth over $100.
You might be required to buy this for a college course (in my case, a graduate CS class) but please don't buy it for any other reason. There are far better resources out there for learning the subject matter - even Wikipedia. College textbooks are a rip-off but this is an egregious example. Out of date and badly proofed, it lacks any kind of focus.

3-0 out of 5 stars Solid book...
This is a solid book. The material in it is good and well laid out.The author is somehow able to make hard to present material at least easy to read. However, the major complaint is that this book is on its tenth edition yet is full of errata.I don't have any clue how that can happen.Because it is supposed to be an academic type of text, this knocks its star rating down significantly for me.

2-0 out of 5 stars too many errata

It is really a used book which has been used for many years.

I don't understand how such an old book can charge for such an high price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant, absolutely brilliant
This book is astounding. Its clear, accessible written presentation reveals the authors have a superior grasp of effective teaching methodologies, and for that matter, communication in general. I see teaching as the ultimate summit of human communication (amounting not only to receiving of information, but to retention and application of real world concepts)... and this book handles its subject in a superb manner. I'm a graphic design professional, and all aspects of 'communication' facsinate me, although much of the academic texts on the subject of 'communication' perpetuate the ambiguity and self-aggrandising, elitist embivalence long used as a tool by academia, resisting real world accountability and application. More of this sort of pratical information and clarity needs to be made accessible to more people, and this book is the best example I have seen to actively facilitate this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Much anticipation
I am highly anticipating the release of this book based primarily on the authors' reputation and contribution to the field.A can't miss piece of work, for sure.

5-0 out of 5 stars UNREAL!!!!!
This is so rad. I can't believe I'm the first to review this super scintillating read. This book is a real page-turner. And the authors? There's no comparison. They're obviously at the top of their field. Ok, ok, so they taught me everything I know and I owe all the success in my personal life to them...but who cares about bias anyway? I'd buy it, but currently don't have that kind of money in my wallet. But don't worry, I swear it's the first thing on my christmas list. (and I promise not to nail it to my wall) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars National Award Winner: Society for Technical Communication (STC) Best of Show Award Winner
I'm the project manager for this book, so perhaps I'm a bit biased. :-) However, it is basically unheard of for a technical book of this breadth and depth, with 22 authors, to win this coveted national award. We are very proud of the team that worked so hard, with so much dedication and passion, to make this happen.

In this book you are going to find deep,under-the hood technical information written by subject matter experts who develop, support, deploy, and troubleshoot Communications Server. No one is closer to the product than these authors. They literally wrote this book as the product was being developed.

The ResKit team is now hard at work on version 3 of Communications Server Resource Kit, this time with 35 cross-team authors, and hope you will check out our progress on our new blog, DrRez, at [...]. You can also follow us on Twitter (@DrRez) at [...].

Your ideas and feedback are always welcome and appreciated.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well done
When I first picked up the book, I thought I knew OCS. Then I read it. It covers everything from client functionality, to expected SIP conversation behavior, to WMI and AD attribute details. I continue to use it as a reference for projects and troubleshooting. It has been and will continue to be a very useful tool.

5-0 out of 5 stars You won't find a better book on this topic
If you really want to "get under the hood" of OCS, this is the book to have.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent reference guide
This book is a great resource if you want to know the inner details of OCS.
The authors did a great job, it is pretty hard to explain complex content in the clear way they did.
If you are looking for an excellent reference guide for OCS, this is it.
As a bonus, on the cd you will find a nice set of powershell scripts.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great reference book for OCS guys

Very good basic introduction to media. By no means does it go into depth with the material but it's good for JOUR 1001.

The book is heavily marked with a dark orange marker...it is barely readable on same pages..
some of the pages are completely marked dark orange...

4-0 out of 5 stars Really needed it!!!
This book arrived right on time cause I tried to go forward with the class without the book. Easy to navigate.

I purchased this book as a text book for a college class. It does not really matter if I like it, or don't like it.I have to have it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Lengthy and Boring
If you have to get this book for class, be prepared for a long, dull read.I enjoyed the history sections for each medium, but the book tries very hard to get 20 pages per chapter, and spends a lot of time defining things that the average college student would already know.I have not used the dvd, so unfortunately I don't know if that's any easier than reading the chapters. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Information and Condition
This book arrived in excellent condition from the seller and contains up to date, relevant information for today's climate of business communication!

2-0 out of 5 stars Great shipment, not so great of the product
I had asked for expedited shipment and I got my book right on time at the earliest time that was possible; GREAT SERVICE.

The book was in a good condition; although it had a bit more markings than what I expected it really is not a big deal.
My biggest complaint and issue with this transaction is that, rather than the usual edition of the books that students purchase, the "Instructor's Edition" of this book was shipped to me. It is illegal to sell the "Instructor's Edition" of books as it is explicitly stated on the back cover: "NOT FOR SALE, This textbook has been provided free for an instructor to consider for classroom use. Selling free examination copies contributes to higher prices of text books for students."
No where in the product description it was clearly stated that this was an "Instructor's Edition" or I wouldn't have purchased it. My instructor was shocked when he saw this copy in my hands and said that I was lucky since he wasn't going to pull any tests directly from the book or I wouldn't be allowed to use it!
I cannot even resell the book, once I am through with my course because first of all this book is not for sale! Besides, the next user is going to run into the same issue as I did. This is not right!

1-0 out of 5 stars A difficult read
This book is very difficult to read, so much so that I find myself having to close the door to avoid all distractions. My recommendation is to take notes as you read.I have had to go back and reread several sections. It's odd to me that this text was assigned for a communications course considering it is one of the most confusing books I have ever read.It lacks practical examples and is honestly quite boring. There are many other books that do a much better job of explaining organizational theories.

1-0 out of 5 stars Displeased
Unlike the book, I will get to the point. This was a terrible book that was very difficult to read or gain any information from. For a communication book, it felt like you had to interperet the author's writting to get much information from it. The examples we just 'ok' and not much of a help to the reader. I am honestly displeased after finishing this book.

1-0 out of 5 stars NEVER GOT IT!
I ordered it only to find out it would take 1-21 days to get it.It has been 27 days. I still do not have it!

1-0 out of 5 stars This was a need, not a want.
I needed this textbook for my Fundamentals of Organizational Communications class.UGH!!I hated this textbook. It is written too much like a scholarly paper with TONS of in-text citations and it was horrible edited.I would never recommend this book to anyone to read on a personal or professional level. If you have to take a course and this is the required textbook, be prepared to do lot of re-reading because the text is extremely dense and the author fills the books with sentences that are extremely long and distracting with definitions in parenthesis right in the sentence.I can not count how many times I fell asleep reading this text and I LOVE to read.I can not wait to sell this book because I will not even keep it for a reference.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not so Good!
I have ordered from Amazon for years now.I have bought and sold items.I have NEVER had such slow delivery in my life.I ordered the product on the 30th and did not get it until the 28th of the following month. It was being delivered IN STATE!I will probably try another seller, because this was a horrible experience.Sorry that I seem angry, but I am.I am in an 8 week course and got my book in the 5th week!!!!! ... An in-depth study of why your communication styles are not wrong, just different!

Finally an answer for the number one problem in marriages-communication! This analysis of the vital principles of cross-gender communication helps couples recognize they speak two different languages. They are sending each other messages in "code" but won't be able to crack that code until they realize that she listens to hear the language of love and he listens for respect.

Most advice on this subject fails to understand that husbands and wives are wired very differently, and when those wires get crossed, the communication sparks can fly!

Dr. Eggerich's best-selling book, Love and Respect, launched a revolution in how couples relate to each other. In The Language of Love and Respect he shares how that message can be applied.

Formerly titled Cracking the Communication Code.

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting perspective
I have read several relationship books and this is one of several. It has some good points.I am a man and it is always helpful to have reminders that women generally think differently than I do.I found that the first few chapters were very good, but the book started to get repetitive and say the same things over and over.Overall, it was good and worth a read if you are interested in understanding your spouse better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great methods.
This book had some amazing methods for resolving conflict and from keeping it from happening in your marriage. I think that a lot of these principles can be applied to a lot of other areas of life as well. I tend to have a hard time reading these kinds of books (they just don't interest me), but was able to keep up with this one pretty well. Overall, I liked it and would recommend it to anyone who wants to improve their marriage.

3-0 out of 5 stars Nice Handbook but Not Deep
I have not read anything by Dr. Eggerich so this was an interesting book to begin with. I thought he was right on the money with his communication descriptions and this is a great little handbook compacted with many ideas on how to improve your marriage.

That said, there wasn't much "new" about it other than his terminology. If you've been in Christian circles long enough, you've heard all this before. There wasn't anything earth shattering that I learned. But I would recommend it to marriages that are on the brink of sliding down the hill.

4-0 out of 5 stars Try this book before therapy
I have been in relationship counseling before and I must say that this book covers a lot of things that you would with a counselor and instead of forking over 150.00 a session, sit down with your loved one and read it together. It's a great way to talk about things as your reading and communicating. I believe that communication is in the top 3 as for a long loving caring relationship. A must for any couple.... problem or not!

2-0 out of 5 stars Textbook Reading - Love & Respect
The Language of Love & Respect is the sequel to Dr. Emerson Eggerichs best-selling book Love & Respect. I had never read Love & Respect, but had heard wonderful things about it, so when I got the chance to get a free copy of this book in exchange for a review I jumped at it.

Unfortunately, I did enjoy the book. In my opinion, the book read like a text book. It wasn't something that would be an enjoyable read, but something that requires study. The use of acronyms was overkill. First there was C-O-U-P-L-E, then C-H-A-I-R-S. Next we had to learn about how COUPLE and CHAIRS get you out the Crazy Cycle and into the Energizing Cycle.

These acronyms and "codes," that most will never remember, were too complicated to be very useful. The writing was lackluster, and did not hold my attention. While I'm sure there is benefit to be found in the book, I think you'd have to dig deep and focus hard to find it.

If you're looking for a deep study book on marriage communication, this may be the book for you. But unfortunately, it was not the book for me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
Excellent book...very easy to read and filled with examples to help you visualize. Lots of problems to practice.
It is an overall excellent book to assist you; especially if the book you were assigned in class sucks.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good course supplement text.
A concise and useful analysis approach on the subject. It is intended for a junior or higher level college audience. I used this for more technical details while taking an engineering technology course on communications.

5-0 out of 5 stars Broad overview of communications topics
This is an excellent supplement for upper level undergraduate electrical engineering students enrolled in a communications class, particularly if either "Modern Digital and Analog Communication Systems" by Lathi or "Communication Systems Engineering" by Proakis is being used as the main textbook. This outline follows along with the topics in those books particularly well. The first two chapters go into the basics of signals and systems and discuss linearity, time invariance, impulse response, and the Fourier and Hilbert transforms. The next two chapters discuss the principles of amplitude and frequency modulation. The next four chapters cover the idea of random processes from the standpoint of communication theory. First the concepts of probability and random variables are introduced. Then random processes themselves are outlined. Finally these concepts are applied in chapters on noise in communication and hypothesis testing. I think this section of the outline does a particularly good job of presenting material and worked problems on possibly one of the hardest topics to understand in electrical engineering undergraduate studies. The final two chapters of the outline cover the basics of information theory and error control coding.
The depth of material presented is not sufficient for self-study, but is very good supplemental material. The problems are excellent with many worked out examples, and there are more than enough illustrations and figures to help explain the subject. I highly recommend this outline.

5-0 out of 5 stars Schaum's Review
I have used Schaum's outlines for 40 years and this is no different.Excellent explanations and problem solving.

4-0 out of 5 stars many topics covered
Hsu gives you a wide spread of topics. The book certainly has an impressive coverage. It talks about most types of digital modulation techniques, like Pulse Code Modulation. Plus, there is an explanation of random processes and simple probability. Necessary because of the inherent stochastic nature of much of communications. Which then leads directly into information theory, and the key Shannon concepts of how to find a quantitative measure of information in a channel with a given signal power and noise power.

Understand, though, that the very breadth of the discussion means that Hsu often only has time for a brief venture into each topic. But, then again, the book's title does say "Outline". This is really a review book, rather than a text from which to learn material for the first time. ... Read more

* Your relationship with God enhances your marriage relationship.
* Communication is the main way two become one in a marriage.
* Biblical oneness involves sex, but also intellectual, spiritual, emotional, and social oneness. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Female Friendly
Gary Chapman is truly an excellent writer. While I have found that many marriage enrichment books are written by men who either have a dislike for women, or do not understand them, Chapman writes in a gentle style that speaks to women. Now You're Speaking My Language is an easy read and full of helpful insights. If in doubt, it's worth your time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enlightening!
This is a very well put book.Eye opening and easy for anyone to follow. This is a must-have for married couples!I highly recommend it for anyone willing to dig into a deeper relationship with their spouse.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book by Chapman, but not his best
I'll pick up any book written by Gary Chapman on relationships. He has keen insight into the sometimes unstable, all the time unpredictable, lives of married couples.

Now You're Speaking... is a very practical book that I enjoyed.I liked the fact that he used real life couples in his examples and illus..I also appreciated the fact that he summarized his chapters at the end each chapter.I felt like he was taking the old formula that my jr. high English teacher used to teach compostions.Tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them, then tell them what you told them. That's exactly what Chapman did.

The book you can tell is designed to be read by someone who has already reach the 5 love languages. You can enjoy the book without having read 5 love languages, but you certainly won't get everything out of it that you could have.

So if you are looking for a great read on relationships, and have already read Chapmans book, "The Five Love Languages" grab this and enjoy, if not, grab The Five Love Languages, it really is the better book.

5-0 out of 5 stars It helps! (Even good marriages!)
My husband and I have a wonderful marriage... but we know it takes work so that is why we do alot of reading of Christian marriage books and I LOVE this one.
Gary Chapman has a great way of truthfully letting you know what a marriage needs to survive~ honest, open and effictive communication.

The same way we take what others say and twist it up to mean something totally different than what was said, others do that too! So he brings to your attention the words you say and how you say things.

This book is great for any relationship- not just marriages...
if your marriage is in trouble- this is truly a great read for you.
If you are engaged- get two copies- one for each of you to read before saying 'I Do'.
If you need a wedding gift for someone- this paired with the 5 Love Languages would be a great gift- I wish someone would have thoguht of that for me instead of the hediest bookends I recieved!
