Extractions: Many extreme sports enthusiasts consider Norway, to be the base-jumping capital of Europe. This could be for one of two key reasons: firstly, that it is one of the few countries left where it is still legal; and secondly, because of its high mountains and deep fjords, it has the one of the best landscapes for it in the world. What is base-jumping? It is the unusual practice of jumping from a fixed point (e.g. cliff), free falling for a short time, before releasing a parachute and (hopefully) landing safely at the bottom. Jumps involve a liberating sense of weightlessness, followed by a rapid, and exhilarating fall. High adrenaline sports don't get much higher than this!
What Is Base Jumping What is base jumping? It No! In fact, base jumping has less in commonwith the sport of skydiving than it would appear. Skydiving http://www.breakawayskate.com/basejump/whatis.html
Extractions: What is Base Jumping? It has to be one of the most powerful experiences ever. You are standing on the edge of a deep and forbidding chasm that seductively draws you in. Vertigo nests solidly in the pit of your stomach but your spirit soars. The tension is unbearable, your heart goes apeshit and liquid energy courses through your veins. You become detached from the real world, extraneous information around you disappears and time stands still. It's quiet - very, very quiet. Ready, set, go! You step out into the void that is deep, beautiful and calm. Euphoric shock warps time and you can't believe what you are seeing as your surroundings gain momentum and the wind starts to roar in your ears. You know that the longer you hold out before deploying your parachute the more incredible the experience will be but those last moments become eternally long as the ground rushes up at you. Faster, faster, faster, the energy builds, ignites and explodes within. Seconds from impact. Groundrush! Not yet, not yet, NOW! You fire the pilot chute, the canopy crashes open, the earth stands still and reality floods back. BASE is an acronym for Building, Antenna, Span (bridges) and Earth (cliffs) and what the practitioners of this sport do is jump off said objects with parachutes on their backs. BASE jumpers are a fringe of a fringe, a loose, far-flung affiliation of deviants and mavericks that span the globe. Any object tall enough is fair game. Unfinished high-rise buildings are a favourite - they have multiple points of entry, minimal security and no windows. Antennas are usually very high and remote so there's less chance of being bust by the anti-fun police. Bridges have easy access and are clear below so there's no chance of striking the structure as the parachute opens, and vertical cliff faces on a scale large enough to jump off are absolutely breathtaking. Well-known landmarks are irresistible. The Eiffel Tower, the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco and the Table Mountain Cable Car are but a few of the better-known landmarks that have been jumped from.

The Basics Of Base Jumping The basics of base jumping. base jumping is an off shoot from the adrenaline pumpingsport, Parachuting. Review the full terms by clicking here. base jumping. http://az.essortment.com/basejumping_rejh.htm
Extractions: The basics of base jumping BASE jumping is an off shoot from the adrenaline pumping sport, Parachuting. It differs in that the height at which the BASE jumper takes his leap is much shorter. Between the time the jumper steps off the launch point to the time he throws the hand-held pilot chute is only three seconds. The shortest three seconds of the Base Jumpers life. Following the jump, skill is then needed to fly the chute and land without getting hurt. Jumpers leap from still objects, as opposed to airplanes and other moving objects. Typical launch points from which jumpers will take flight from are Bridges, Antenna, Span, and Earth, hence the label, BASE. A typical BASE jump also has a landing area that is filled with boulders, rocks, or large trees on uneven terrain. Wind conditions are unpredictable from second to second. Therefore, a great amount of experience, education, knowledge and guts is necessary before taking the first leap. It is a dangerous sport, not for everyone! It is not about proving anything to anyone. It is just as adrenaline pumping as its relative, Skydiving. It is why BASE jumping is so addictive. bodyOffer(27551) The sport is banned at nearly all national parks and on private property. The sport is fighting to preserve an extreme sport image. It is seen by the BASE jumper as a sport that is no less safe skiing or mountain biking or any other sport in which thousands risk their necks on a daily basis. They do not see themselves as careless, reckless outlaws as they have been portrayed in the past.

Base Jumping In New Zealand newzealand.com/nzguide/waitomo.html. Here are some interesting interpretationsof the term base jumping I don't know exactly what http://www.e-travelbug.com/16augtrav.htm
Extractions: The Travel Bug - have bug, will travel Friday 16 August 2002 New Zealand Greetings, This week's destination is definitely NOT for the faint-hearted or those who suffer from vertigo! It's the southern hemisphere's tallest structure - Auckland's 328m Sky Tower. According to the fact sheet supplied by "Getaway, " It took 2000 tonnes of reinforcing steel, 660 tonnes of structural steel and 15,000 cubic metres of concrete to erect it. It can withstand 200km/h winds, earthquakes up to eight on the Richter scale." If you're lucky enough to be up there on a clear day, you can see for around 82km. The Sky Deck has seamless glass walls that give breathtaking 360º views. Even if you can't come at the Jump, the three glass-fronted elevators can take 225 people to the observation levels every 15 minutes. And at 18km/h the ride takes just 40 seconds - plenty scary for some!
