There is something unique about this band that has recreated a classic variety of rock music and found the right audience to appreciate it. The Scones, formed in 1995 by English-born singer and songwriter Martin Shears, have been playing at Collins in downtown Flagstaff for approximately five years. Shears said they keep coming back because of the unique northern Arizona crowd. "The Scones love Flagstaff and we love NAU," Shears said. "This crowd up here is the best that we play for anywhere, regardless of where we've been." Lead guitarist Ronnie Winters, who has become well known for his tabletop guitar solos, shared this sentiment. "This is our favorite place to play," Winters said, later adding people always have a good time and appreciate the music.
