We are continuously hosting La Mesa Wallyball Leagues (we believe it's the largest league in the World), annual tournaments, round robins, or plays just between you and your friends. The ball and net are furnished by the club. You may just want to practice your volleyball inside an air conditioned, well-lit court that you can reserve ahead, we're here for you. A 5 minute injury time out can be awarded to the team with the injury by referee. 7. Two substitutions per game allowed. 8. Coin toss will determine first service or choice of court side. Second game service to other team. Third game if necessary will need another coin toss. 10. Ceiling and back wall on own side is in bounds if own player touches it. 11. Server cannot spike or block in (4) four person play. (Four Person). 12. If sever catches the ball on service toss, the sever can replay the serve. 13 The service must be a clean contact with the ball. Pushing the ball or rolling the ball off the fingers (paint brush) is not allowed. 14. Service order must be kept prior to serving.

Extractions: On the eve of the 2000 Presidential Election, I received an e-mail from a wallyball player stationed at Camp David. I found his story interesting and thought I'd share exerpts of the message with you. I do indeed play on Camp David, where former President Bush played so many times. I had never played until I got here, and was taught how to play by two of the men who often played with Bush. Neither one of them are still here.

Extractions: Wallyball Rules Every game needs rules. I say this even though I played the game for a while before I knew there were formal rules. We just batted the ball around (jungle ball), had a lot of fun and got great exercise. Then I learned of the rules. We incorporated the rules in our play, began to develop our ball handling skills, and the game was magically transformed into a new sport. Playing by the "real" rules of the game enhanced our enjoyment of the sport. I have recently rewritten the official wallyball rulebook at the request of Joe Garcia (the inventor of the sport). Joe challenged me to make the book easier to read. I think I've done that, and while at it I attempted to clarify some of the issues I've seen raised during the time I've played the game.
