Product Description

It can be as playful as a party game, or as dead serious as military training for a coming deployment. But whatever your approach to paintball or Airsoft, there are rules to learn, tactics to master, variations to discover, and equipment to consider. And in every instance, Paintball and Airsoft Battle Tactics has the answers.

The ultimate resource for these sports so popular among weekend warriors and military simulators, this book helps novice players and veterans alike to hone their skills and sharpen their understanding of the art and science of MilSim strategy and tactics.

Written by a military analyst with real-world experience training combatants around the world, this paintball and Airsoft tacticians bible refreshes and refocuses the military simulator, but it doesnt stop there. It also fosters, mentors, and challenges both the apprentice and the maestro with basic individual and leadership skills, team drills, and intermediate patrolling operations, covering all the necessities for waging paintball and Airsoft combat successfully at the small-team level.

2-0 out of 5 stars very misleading title
I was looking for a book that could give me advice and food for thought to pass on to my team mates and bring them to the next level. I found mostly nothing of this.

There is a grand total of 4 pages mildly specific to Airsoft and paintball, all the rest is pretty dry military jargon that - as an ex-military - I find far too SOP for my taste. If you don't understand the double meaning of SOP then this book will bore you, if you do, then you know you need to stay away.

The drills succeed the rare exploit of being at the same time unpractical, shallow and over the top. You won't know how to dislodge a camping player, you won't know how to set a diversion, you will not know how to effectively pace an attack, defend in depth, conduct a coordinated assault or, more modestly, a plain vanilla one. You will not know how to use the most nimble guys in your team, how to use a sniper while trying to break through a line of players, make use of airsoft grenades if you have any, lay to good use a volley of suppressing BBs, reposition yourself to maintain pressure on the other team or do anything that actually happens in an airsoft game.

You will obviously not find anything like a scenario. No "blackhawk down", "bring back the evidence", "body count", "bunker assault", or even the simple "capture the flag"(!). For the matter, you won't find any discussion of typical airsoft/paintball situations.

What you will find is a smoke and mirror re-packaging of unadapted (and mostly shallow) military drills trying to capture gullible paintball and airsoft players. Good marketing, but go and spend your dollars elsewhere, probably on a real military book or this one instead Paintball Warrior Tactics: Secrets of serious bushball players

5-0 out of 5 stars Airsoft battle & Tactics
This is one of the most informative books that I have ever read. Even though I haven't finished yet, I still ahve learned so much from this book. A must buy for any one who is starting out in airsoft. Even helpfulk for the most experienced players.

Oh yeah, this pertains more to airsoft than paintball.

5-0 out of 5 stars I liked it allot
Good book for beginners who want to know about Special Ops tactics to aid them in Airsoft and Paintball.

3-0 out of 5 stars This is NOT for everyday paintball.
Ordered this book expecting a book on battle tactics relating to paintball. That is to say situations that play out everyday on your average paintball field. Where bunkers are created ahead of time and the enemy is easily apparent. There is no real reason for patrols since the total length of an infantry patrol in line formation is a quarter of the field.

Instead what I found was a book on small infantry tactics and patrols. As other reviewers stated, this is for the hardcore mil-sim crowd. From what I can gather the author repackaged another one of his books and put the word paintball in the title. No discussion on paintball weapons or bunker tactics faced in the everyday world. If you plan on playing a scenario game in Cambodia with 5000 people it would be great. It makes good reading but at full MSRP it is definitely a disappointment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent source of military tactics for laymen
I recently recieved this great book from amazon and it lived up to my expectations. After playing airsoft for a few years now I realized I could use some more team tactics, and this book was perfect in that effect. The layout is good, and the information is accurate.

However, for the average airsofter this book may be a "big bite" in that it contains a lot of larger force tactics, such as communicating with the forward OP on a scouting mission, with large battlegrounds, and organized deployment (I know of a few fields that have enough people to do large scale warfare like this, but of course the average airsofter isn't going to be concerned about this).

But I still strongly recommend this book. I would have given it a 4.5, but not a 5, just because of the above fact, and so it recieved a 4/5. ... Read more

Product Description
The Airsoft Question and Answer Book is intended for anyone who wants some basic information about airsoft and airsoft game playing.Simply put, airsoft is a shooting sport that makes use of guns that fire 6mm plastic BBs and are replicas of real pistols and rifles.Airsoft guns can be powered by a spring, by gas, or by batteries and shoot BBs at speeds from 100 fps (feet per second) up to 500 fps or more. Why are airsoft guns becoming so popular? Some people collect them because they're almost exact replicas of real firearms while others buy them because airsoft guns provide a safe, inexpensive way to practice shooting skills at home with a weapon that's virtually identical to an actual firearm. However, more and more people of all ages are buying airsoft guns and equipment in order to take part in airsoft game playing.Airsoft games are generally military simulations played by two or more teams and take place either indoors (referred to as CQB or Close Quarter Battle games) or outdoors (referred to as "woodland" games).Who exactly plays airsoft games and why do they do it?Many law enforcement agencies and military units carry out airsoft exercises as an economical and effective training option, but the vast majority of games are played by people like you and me.If you go to a typical airsoft match you're liable to see players ranging in age from 14 or 15 to 50 or older, both men and women.Accountants, sales people, students, construction workers, soldiers and ex-soldiers -- players come from all walks of life. They play because of the camaraderie, the chance to practice military skills, the opportunity to get some exercise and have fun at the same time, and for the challenge of working out tactics to defeat their opponents. So, whether you're interested in collecting airsoft guns, using them to sharpen your shooting skills or thinking about joining a team, here's a chance to learn some of the basics of airsoft. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Rubish
I got a chance to go throught this book at the last airssoft skirmish. To call it rubish is to be kind. The printing looks like it was done at a photocopy shop, the english is horrible and the information usless. The book Paintball and Airsoft tactics is better by far and less expensive. The tactics in this book are in manyh cases wrong and where they are right the information is on the web or other better books. Save your money for pellets and skip this one.

OK here is the scoop. This book has no real tips, hints or advice. The facts are for the most part wrong (your airsoft rifle will use AA batteries for example.) So what is this book? It is a collection of very short essays lifted form the internet. It is highly inaccurate, has no illustrations. For the money get Paintball and Airsoft Battle Tactics instead.

In summary if it were not for pay to play publishing this book would have never seen the light of day. It is not only not helpful it has information that is harmful to the potential airsoft player. ... Read more

Product Description

In a gunfight, there's no second place winner...

Airsoft is the new frontier in the field of reality-based law enforcement training. Police trainers owe it to the profession and to the safety of all warriors to develop and implement the very best training methods available . Police officers must be trained in realistic, real-life situations with scenarios that elevate the stress level to simulate reality- anything less is unfair to our officers and a disservice to the profession. Airsoft technology fills the gap between static, square range based training and the reality of a dynamic armed confrontation. The technology is easy to master, low cost, and provides a realism to force-on-force training that is difficult to surpass. Force-On-Force Police Training Using Airsoft introduces police trainers to the how-to of using these weapons, the various types available, technical data, and offers sound advice on the safety aspects of reality-based training. This book provides a complete training program and is an essential addition to the police use-of-force instructor's library. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good intro to airsoft
This book is a good source of information for those police trainers who want to pursue a different technology in their scenarios, but are not familiar with airsoft, or cannot afford the more expensive alternatives.Airsoft is a tool that can fulfill a real need in a police agency's training curriculum at a modest cost. Gas guns that replicate police handguns can be found in the $80-90 range and patrol rifles models are available in the $200-300 range.

The large amount of information contained in this manual, for such a short book, more than adequately fulfills the author's goals and is well worth the price. Any police trainer can build an airsoft program using the book as a guide.

If you already use airsoft then you probably already are aware of most of the information here and do not need the book. The first chapter is an introduction to airsoft and also discusses the laws, including the commonly misunderstood orange safety tip requirement.Police agencies are not exempt from federal or local laws.

Chapters 2 and 3 are in-depth discussions, with plenty of photos to assist readers in understanding the concepts, covering the various types of airsoft devices and how each one operates. Gas guns and electric rifles of the type most suited to law enforcement training are introduced and the good consumer advice listed will help purchasers make the right choice.

Trainers with little background on safety procedures can obtain much useful information from Chapter 5. Police officers are killed and injured in training every year in this country, due to failure to follow the proper safety protocols for force-on-force scenarios discussed in this chapter. This chapter alone is worth the price of this book and trainers should pay close attention to the recommendations given.

A complete lesson plan for force-on-force using airsoft is also included in this chapter.Force-On-Force Police Training Using Airsoft is a good addition to the police trainer library.

1-0 out of 5 stars Look somewhere else for your training needs
I recently purchased "Force-On-Force Police Training Using Airsoft" by Luis E. Martinez, M. Ed. and I can only blame myself. I did not even look to see if other trainers had reviewed this book before I hit the purchase button. So when I opened the slim box and took out the even slimmer volume, I suspected I'd been had. 94 pages. Six chapters. Lets go through them together, shall we?

Chapter One- An Airsoft Primer. Six paragraphs on what an Airsoft gun is. Three pages on Airsoft and the Law. Six paragraphs on training organizations. Nothing much here but an administrative overview, but fine, you have to start somewhere. So we are now at page 12:

Chapter Two- Airsoft Pistols. Nineteen pages spent on what I can sum up in one short paragraph:

"Airsoft pistols are either spring-powered or gas-blowback operated. The spring-powered are cheaper and fire at a lower velocity, and the slide does not move during firing. Gas-blowback guns have reciprocating slides that more closely mimic the feel of firing a real gun. The Gas-blowback guns run on a charge of compressed propane and fire projectiles at a higher velocity than spring-powered guns. The guns are available in almost every make and model."

The author also includes a review of one of the gas-blowback guns that appeared in Airsoft Magazine to provide in-depth information on one type of available gun.

Chapter Three is more of the same, only this time we are talking about Airsoft RIFLES. We're now at page 40 of our slim volume, and the author is still "clearing his throat."

Chapter Four. HERE IT IS: Force on Force with Airsoft!!!Woo-HOO!

And what do we get? A nine page chapter describing the "case history of one agency's experience with the use of Airsoft to train it's police officers in the demanding arena of active shooters..."

This chapter was previously published as an article in the December 2007 issue of the Campus Law Enforcement Journal, the official publication of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA).

Wow.

What's REALLY amazing is that even this chapter does not address any actual training with airsoft. It only gives another broad outline of what airsoft is, and why it might be good to train with, and then explains in great detail the Central Arizona College Police Department's experience in ESTABLISHING an airsoft active shooter training course. Not what they did or how they did it. No force on force drills, scenarios, roll-playing concepts, nada.

Worn out by all this high-speed, low-drag warriorship? Good, cause it's time to talk SAFETY.

Chapter Five is Safety!

This is the only chapter that has any worth at all, because it might actually keep someone from bringing a live weapon into an airsoft training evolution. But if you are a trainer and you are using simunitions or other marking rounds in your training, you should already know this stuff. It is necessary, but basic. Good for Mr. Martinez for putting it in, though! We don't want to kill our people, we want to keep them alive to kill other people. I mean, to help other people.

Chapter Six is four paragraphs on the authors "further thoughts" on training with Airsoft.

Gee. I missed the thoughts that came before that.

I read the author bio and Luis Martinez is the Chief of Police at Central Arizona College, which post he assumed after serving 26 years and retiring as Chief of the Gila River, AZ Police Department. He is a pistol and rifle instructor.

Essentially this "book" comes across as an assignment the Chief had while pursuing his Master's degree in education. In his intro he describes the over six months of time he put into research of this topic.

So, my bad.

I was looking for something like Kyle Lamb's "Green Eyes and Black Rifles" or Gabe Suarez's force-on-force stuff, or Rich Daniels at FFKG who does AMAZING things with Airsoft training. What I got was someone's homework assignment and the loss of twenty bucks.

The good news is that this review took me way more time than reading the book did.

And Chief Martinez, I'm sorry if I'm being unfair to you. I know your heart was in the right place. But seriously, this is not a book any trainer could rely upon to build an Airsoft training program. ... Read more

Product Description
Airsoft is a hobby/sport/discipline, wherein replica firearms (pistols, assault and sniper rifles, etc.) that shoot 6mm plastic rounds, are used for personal collection, gaming (similar to Paintball), or professional training purposes (Military Simulations and Police training exercises). The difference between airsoft firearms and BB guns is that the former uses plastic bullets and have muzzle velocities that fire less than 500 feet per second (FPS) on average, which is generally considered safe/non-lethal when used in a controlled environment. BB guns (ex: Red Ryder BB Gun) utilize metal ammunition and shoots at velocities over 1000 FPS, making it less suitable for gaming and training purposes. Airsoft games vary greatly in style and composition depending on location, budget, and the quantity of participants but often range from short-term skirmishes and organized scenarios to military simulations and historical reenactments. Combat situations on the battlefield often involve the use of common military tactics to achieve the objectives set in each game. ... Read more

PrefaceThis book covers the basic fundamentals of urban warfare adapted for combat sports. The techniques illustrated are based on standard military MOUT and SWAT team training. In a real world combat environment, taking a city from an organized and competent military force, such as in WWII, 30-40% casualties were expected, assuming also that the odds are in your favor as an assaulting force of at least a 3 to 1 ratio with air and artillery support. Basically, it takes 3 men to take out 1 man defending an urban area and 2 will walk out battered but hopefully relatively unscathed. This book is a primer or refresher of urban combat skills adapted for paintball, laser-tag and air-soft. Some methods have been modified for the game.Enjoy and play safe. ... Read more

Airsoft guns themselves are legal in many parts of the world, although some countries have specific restrictions such as maximum muzzle energy, rules against using the trademarks of real firearms and special marking requirements (such as bright orange barrel tips). Airsoft guns, particularly AEGs are currently unobtainable in Australia under state and federal law. As legislation and regulations stand airsoft guns are often grouped with prohibited military style assault weapons or machine guns because of their appearance and automatic manner of operation. As state and federal laws also prohibit the possession or importation of replica weapons of the class airsoft guns usually replicate, you may appreciate the difficulties involved in any attempt to have airsoft legalized in Australia. Currently single shot spring powered airsoft guns commonly referred to as sniper rifles (that do not replicate automatic weapons) and gas powered hand guns (without automatic function) may be (technically) imported into some Australian states, such as Queensland. To possess or import these devices requires appropriate license and permissions from the weapons licensing branch of each state, and to gain such licenses and permissions require...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=4644691 ...
