Amazon.com Review
What's your greatest NASCAR memory? Bob McCullough (My Greatest Day in Baseball) posed that question to 47 drivers, owners, crew chiefs, and NASCAR officials--from Bobby Allison to Smokey Yunick--during the 1999 season. For Jeff Gordon, the answer was recent history: winning the 1999 Daytona 500 on Valentine's Day. "King" Richard Petty had to reach a bit farther back--to the 1984 win at the Firecracker 400 with then-President Reagan watching in the stands. Cale Yarborough went even further back: remembering his first career victory, the 1968 Southern 500 in Darlington--just 15 miles from where he was born and raised. No matter the vintage, the stories offer up an intimate perspective on the world's fastest-growing sport. "Awesome Bill from Dawsonville" Elliott, Dale and Ned Jarrett, Benny and Phil Parsons, Bobby and Terry Labonte, Bobby and Donny Allison--all the greats of stock-car racing are here. My Greatest Day in NASCAR is essential reading for NASCAR fans. --M. Stein ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Thumbs Down
This is the worst book I have ever read on NASCAR. It is full of inaccuracies and misspelled words. For example, oil dry is referred to as "oil drop", sprint cars are referred to as "spring cars", etc. The chapter on John Andretti's greatest day in NASCAR focuses on his Indy 500 experience. The Ralph Moody chapter is especially hard to follow as it appears that he author transcribed a taped interview without any editing. It would have been helpful if this book was edited by a knowledgeable racing writer so as not to insult racing fans with a poor attempt at what could have been a great book.

The goal of this report is to assist managers in gauging a company's financial performance vis-a-vis firms competing in the same sector, at the global level. In particular, this report covers CHAMPIONSHIP AUTO RACING TEAMS, INC., TROY, USA. With the globalization of markets, greater foreign competition, and the reduction of entry barriers, it becomes all the more important to benchmark a company's performance against other firms on a worldwide basis.Doing so, however, is not an obvious task.First, one needs to find firms competing in the same sector.Second, one needs to control for exchange rate volatility. Finally, one needs to use comparable financial standards. This report overcomes these issues and gives full financial benchmarks vis-a-vis worldwide competitors who are present in the same narrow industrial classification. Benchmarks cover assets, liabilities, income and ratios.Since our reports are printed on demand, the statistics reported are for the latest quarter and are the most up to date available (4 reports are produced each year). Product Description
Charlotte and the Carolina Piedmont has an extensive and legendary tradition of automobile racing. Soon after 1904, when the first car was registered in Charlotte, autos became a part of everyday life. Car racing was just around the bend: an open-road race was run through Charlotte as early as 1908. Many drivers themselves have hailed from the area, and some are said to have received early training by running moonshine and outrunning authorities. Probably the best-known aspect of Carolina racing is the Queen Cityís involvement since 1949 with NASCAR, which hosts many of its big names and operations. Auto Racing in Charlotte and the Carolina Piedmont explores the story behind the various forms of the sport, the kinds of people who have raced, and the reasons why they have done so. Historic photographsómany never before publishedótrace the history of NASCAR and look beyond the professional aspect to include the dragracers, wannabees, kids, and just plain amateurs participating in this cultural phenomenon. The story includes the first formal oval track, constructed entirely of wooden planks and opened in 1925. Other famous Charlotte locations, including professional dirt tracks, drag strips, and even a paved track dedicated to Soap Box Derby, are also revisited. Images of fans, mechanics, and hangers-on round out this singular journey of racing in the Carolinas. ... Read more
