Excerpt: A Bobsled roller coaster is the generic name given to any roller coaster that uses a track design that is essentially a "pipe" with the top half removed and has cars that are sent down this pipe in a freewheeling mode. The name derives from the great similarity to the track design used for the Bobsleigh winter sport. Most modern bobsled roller coasters are made of steel, however the first bobsled coasters, known as Flying Turns were made of wood. As of 2007, there are no Flying Turns coasters in operation, however Knoebels in Pennsylvania is planning on opening the world's first modern flying turns coaster, Flying Turns. The ride was scheduled to open in 2007, but has been delayed due to dysfunctional wheels. Both the Bobsled Coaster and the Flying Turns coaster are both buildable coasters in the Rollercoaster Tycoon series of Video Games. ...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=5395573 ... Read more

Purchase includes a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: Rampage is a wooden roller coaster located at Alabama Adventure in Bessemer, Alabama. It opened on May 23, 1998. Construction of the coaster would commence in the fall of 1997, and the ride would celebrate its topping out ceremony on December 2, 1997. The name Rampage was selected as the winner of a name that ride contest in December 1997. The Rampage moniker was submitted by a local Pleasant Grove High School student with Scorpion's Tail and Jaguar coming in second and third place respectively. The ride's opening would coincide with the opening of VisionLand on May 23, 1998. The ride was received well and would be rated as the 3rd best wooden coaster and the 5th best overall coaster by Amusement Business in December 1998. After a successful first year, the parks's attendance would see a significant drop resulting in the shuttering of the coaster for the 2002 season. Following the sale of the park to Southland Entertainment Group, Rampage would see a renovation by John Hinde Enterprises and reopen for the 2003 season. The ride features a 120-foot (37 m) lift hill with a 102-foot (31 m) first drop. It reaches a top speed of 56-mile-per-hour (90 km/h). The ride features 9 crossovers and 13 curves and was built for US$4.3 million. The ride layout is largely based on Megafobia at Oakwood Theme Park in Pembrokeshire, Wales, United Kingdom, which was also built by Custom Coasters. Rampage currently operates with two trains from Philadelphia Toboggan Coasters. Each train is made up of six cars, with each car seating four people (twenty-four riders total). When the ride opened one train was painted solid blue and the other solid maro...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=15697387 ... Read more

Product Description

Keep On Pushing: Hot Lessons From Cool Runnings is a semi-autobiographical motivational book by original Jamaica bobsled team member Devon Harris. In this book Devon has brought together all that he has learned along the way, from his days as a student in Kingston, to his education at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, his life as a Jamaica Army officer, and of course to his experiences at three Olympics which changed his life forever. At the heart of Keep On Pushing are the lessons he has learned of the power of persistence over all sorts of obstacles in order to live one's best life. His goal, through the book, is to bring this message of how everyone can keep on pushing and working for their dreams every day of their personal as well as professional lives.

The book is divided into ten sections-each section representing a lesson. The lessons are designed to inspire and give the reader tools that they can immediately apply to their lives in order to reach higher levels of success. The end of each lesson features a “Key Points to Remember” section which highlights the most salient points in the lesson. Additionally, each lesson culminates with an “Assignment” section which helps to reinforce what was taught by giving the reader a task to complete. Keep On Pushing is not merely a regurgitation of theories on successful living. It is a passionate, personal and authoritative discourse on what it takes to push past life’s challenges, conquer your fears and embrace change in order to live the life of your dreams.
