Product Description
Have you ever wondered why the average handicap on the USGA has barely improved in the last 20 years? The answer is very simple:

a) The Golf Swing is very difficult to understand and to perform.

b) The average weekend golfer would love to improve but doesn´t have the time or the interest to spend long hours practicing.

After studying the golf swing for over 25 years, JF Tamayo has developed a revolutionary method proved for the weekend golfer of any level to significantly improve distance and accuracy from day one, based on three main principles:

1) FOCUS ON CHANGES THAT MOST POSITIVELY AFFECT RESULTS: Opposite to the traditional methods, this book will only ask you to make changes in the most relevant parts of the swing needed to hit solid and consistent shots: the backswing and the transition between the backswing and the downswing.

2) LEARN HOW TO DEVELOP AN EASY, REPEATABLE AND SOLID BACKSWING: One of the biggest breakthroughs of the method was the development of a unique and much easier way to consistently make a solidly sound backswing that will look similar to the new Tiger Wood´s one plane backswing but much simpler to learn, to do and to repeat.

3) LEARN HOW TO CREATE LAG: Being able to increase lag during the downswing is one of the major differences between the amateur's golf swing versus a professional's and probably one of the most misunderstood concepts of golf. In this book you will easily learn how to lag the club like the pros, dramatically improving your clubhead speed, ball striking ability and distance.

This incredible and simple method will instantly take your game to a higher level while you will be helping others since 50% of the profits obtained from this project will be donated to charity.

5-0 out of 5 stars best book yet to develop a swing you can play with
I'll be 60 years old by the time I tee it up next spring and have really struggled with my swing since developing osteoarthritis in my hips. It seems I've read everything out there by the major names in golf instruction from Hardy to Nicklaus and have taken lessons but still couldn't "consistantly" hit the ball solidly. This book has provided me with a couple of keys to consistantly get into position to hit a solid shot. I'm enjoying my rounds much more and within two weeks of switching to this method I've really improved my ball striking and enjoyment of the game. I recommend this book to anyone who would like to develop a simple backswing and transition that works.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally indeed! This has made the difference for me.
I have been struggling with golf for the past two years since a friend invited me to 'check it out'. Ever since, I have developed a 'love-hate' relationship with the game. So frustrating to get the hang of it, but not frustrating enough to let go.

I have had quite a few lessons, including two 'professional' clinics, and spent time on many golf books and videos. I considered myself to be the world's worst golfer. Until I read this. By the time I ordered this I thought what the heck, tried everything already so why not one more?

My biggest issue is having a consistent swing. The drills described in the book can easily be done at home, and so I did over the weekend after I bought the Kindle edition. Then yesterday I played a round of golf but before that went to the driving range. I hit 18 out of 20 balls, longer than usual and consistently straight, using irons 9, 6 & 5. Still, I've had good sessions on the range before, then on the course it would be a mess again. Not this time! My best round ever. I can't believe these simple techniques and drills haven't been touched upon by any of the Pros and teachers I have had the pleasure of meeting (and paying) so far.

Mind you, I have only tried focusing on the swing itself - backswing & transition to downswing - without focusing on the lag creation since I didn't do the drills for lag yet. It feels so satisfactory. I've also had my first ever chip-in yesterday. What an amazing feeling.

I'm no expert and still consider myself an absolute beginner, but no longer the world's worst golfer. Thank you so much J.F. Tamayo, your book is an eye-opener to me. I especially appreciate the very last part of the book, the social aspect deserves top credit as well.

So I can't judge if this is for lower handicappers or let's say below 20 handicappers, but this is definitely for beginners. I have ordered the printed book now for a friend as well. If you're struggling with the game like I did, this is a no-brainer. Good luck with the book and I hope to see more in future, perhaps on the short game. The title of the book promises a lot, and for me I can only say: immediate results.

5-0 out of 5 stars OMG! This is gonna change my game!
Let me start off by saying I have read almost as many books as Amazon has on golf and have studied the swing for the past 7 years intently. I have reviewed and studied 100's of pro golfer swings and was always amazed at the extreme similarities in all pro golf swings. I do understand the technical swing however I find it very hard to implement for myself. I have not even hit a golf ball yet with his techniques but I know this will be a game changer for me indeed. He breaks it down to its most simplest form and has really found out how to implement a pro golf swing in very easy to understand the terms. As for the 1 one star review that claims it messed up his swing (YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG! RINSE AND REPEAT UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT). I will review this again once I have used the techniques in the real world but honestly after doing the drills and getting the concepts I think we finally have a new Ben Hogan book, yet one that actually works for everyone instead of hidden messages. In fact it is like a basic rewrite of Ben's book without all the malarchy and odd illustrations.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best money you will ever spend in a golf book
This small honest book is a jewel. The author has been able to identify and provide easy fixings for 3 elements of the swing that made a great difference for me. Upper arms, shoulder rotation, and lag. The title is more ambitious than the book. The best money ever spent in golf.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not quite there yet
I took the instruction to the range, but teeing off with my three wood, I
found this swing produced a pretty severe hook. My driver was better,
long and high with a draw. Maybe Mr. Tamayo felt the need to keep the
text within some range (this would have been better achieved by
editing the rationale behind some of his teaching ), but I think a
chapter on troubleshooting the swing would be highly welcomed. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Zen Golf Book
This is a nice book to help get you focused on your golf swing and lesson distractions. It appears to me that there is nothing in the world that we put as much thought in as the golf swing. And, the funny thing is that we can't properly hit a golf ball until we get our minds out of the swing. Dr Parents book is a good read and very helpful. Dr Parent did a nice job writing this book. I have an always been interested in golf, and I am trying to teach my friends not to overthink the swing.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best I have read
I have probably read a dozen books about the mental side of golf. Everything from Rotella to Prince's "Thought Free Gol" to Pia Nilsson's "Every shot must have purpose".All filled with great information. Zen Golf is the best.

Dr Parent is not only a knowledgeable golfer, he understands the internal mental and emotional issues that make one successful. This book will help anyone's golf game that has any issues with stress or anxiety while on a golf course - especially during competition or moments of achieving a personal best.As a bonus, most all of his information applies equally well to other parts of a life.My advice is to read it with an open mind to self improvement.

Product Description

You can shoot in the 70's!

Ben Hogan has long believed that any golfer with average coordination can learn to break 80 if he applies himself intelligently -- and here, with Herbert Warren Wind, and artist Anthony Ravielli, he tells you, step by step, just how to go about it.

The greatest golfer of our generation has distilled his experience as teacher, player, and observer of golf into a series of richly illustrated "visual instructions" that not only can improve your game and lower your score, but also can help you get even more fun out of what many people already think is the most enjoyable game in the world.

Each chapter, each tested "fundamental" is explained and demonstrated with amazing detail and clarity. It's as though the master himself were right there at your elbow, giving you a personal lesson with the same thought and care that has gone into his lifetime of golf.

The Modern Fundamentals of Golf is no instant and easy shortcut. There is none. But with Ben Hogan as your pro, you can master these basic movements very quickly. And then you can go on to develop a correct, powerful swing that will repeat. As Ben Hogan says, it's only then that you'll "discover golf for the first time."Amazon.com Review
Ben Hogan's premise in this 1957 classic is driven home inbold letters: "THE AVERAGE GOLFER IS ENTIRELY CAPABLE OF BUILDINGA REPEATING SWING AND BREAKING 80." Religions are founded onless, and Hogan's detailed analyses and illustrated demonstrations ofgrip, stance, posture, and the two basic components of the swing makeup a sacred book. Though its very simplicity seems dated, this is thetome of technique that should serve as the foundation of every golflibrary. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Thebest Golf book ever written.
Along with Zen Putting, this book is a must read for all golfers.Hogan had a very in depth understanding of the golf swing. It got me hitting straighter immediately.

4-0 out of 5 stars golf
Delivery of book was very timely.

Book sent to my son. Seems like it is helping him somewhat.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Instructional Book
Even though I work hard on my golf game, and take a fair number of lessons, I rarely read golf instructional books. They are usually way too long, and too detailed about minute mechanical things. This Hogan book is short, to the point, and argues almost exclusively for techniques that are critical to the golf swing, and that most golf teachers would support. If one really could incorporate all of his teachings and build a repetitive swing around them, one's golf swing would be great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Five Lessons Book
The Fundamentals of Golf book was in great condition as described and arrived promptly. If only the seller could guarantee an improved golf swing!

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 Tips to make Ben Hogan's swing easier to accomplish
This is without a doubt the only golf book you should read.Every tip and every explanation is a revelation. From the grip pointing at your chin and right ear, to your stance, the takeaway, and the downswing, everything makes sense.

Here are two other tips to make Mr Hogan's swing easier to accomplish:

1. INITIATE YOUR TAKEAWAY WITH YOUR RIGHT SHOULDER!PULL IT BACK AND UP To match the ball-to-shoulder plane and you won't believe how easy it is to make a complete shoulder turn, tilted at the ball with your left arm straight.

2.INITIATE THE DOWNSWING WITH YOUR RIGHT HIP!That's all you have to do.Your torso, shoulders, arms, hands, and club will follow automatically without a thought. When you do this you will understand exactly what Mr. Hogan meant when he said that you never even have to think about your hands.Yes, the club swings through with such power you don't have time to think about your torso, shoulders, arms, hands, and club. They follow through and smack the ball cleanly like magic. If you ever had problem turning your hip first to initiate the downswing then do this and you will be amazed.

Really until read Ben Hogan's book I have tried every other swing in every other book, pdf and video.I bought every golf training aid and gadget. My game was just like yours.Swinging with the arms. Inconsistent. This book and these two tips will solve your swing problems. If these tips work for you feel free to comment. ... Read more

It provides keys to increasing strength and power for longer drives and more accurate shots, considering the physical elements that contribute to consistent performance. With color anatomical illustrations to each golf move, this is a top pick!

1-0 out of 5 stars Too Overwhelming for Recreational Players
This book presents a catalog of seventy-two exercises for those intent on developing a tour quality golf swing. Unfortunately, it fails to offer a useful limited program for those recreational players whose ambitions are more realistic.

The book is handsomely illustrated and I enjoy paging through it while watching television. Meanwhile, I will continue swimming and playing golf with the body I pretty much have. The difference between 82 and 72 isn't all that important, at least not to me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I have been a casual golfer now for over 15 years. I decided last year to start working on improving all aspects of my game. I had been growing frustrated lately with my lack of progress until a friend recommended this book to me. I have been doing the exercises outlined in this book for six weeks now. There is a marked improvement in my posture upon address of the ball and balance during my swing. This has translated into more consistent ball striking and lower scoring. It has reignited a fire to improve my swing and ball striking. I am excited to experience the progression in my game, as I progress through this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for any golfer!

Product Description

Dr. Bob Rotella is one of the hottest performance consultants in America today. Among his many professional clients are Nick Price (last year's Player of the Year), Tom Kite, Davis Love III, Pat Bradley, Brad Faxon, John Daly, and many others. Rotella, or "Doc," as most players refer to him, goes beyond just the usual mental aspects of the game and the reliance on specific techniques. What Rotella does here in this extraordinary book, and with his clients, is to create an attitude and a mindset about all aspects of a golfer's game, from mental preparation to competition. The most wonderful aspect of it all is that it is done in a conversational fashion, in a dynamic blend of anecdote and lesson. And, as some of the world's greatest golfers will attest, the results are spectacular. Golfers will improve their golf game and have more fun playing. Some of Rotella's maxims include:

* On the first tee, a golfer must expect only two things of himself: to have fun, and to focus his mind properly on every shot.
* Golfers must learn to love 'the challenge when they hit a ball into the rough, trees, or sand. The alternatives -- anger, fear, whining, and cheating -- do no good.
* Confidence is crucial to good golf. Confidence is simply the aggregate of the thoughts you have about yourself.
* It is more important to be decisive than to be correct when preparing to play any golf shot or putt.

Filled with delightful and insightful stories about golf and the golfers Rotella works with, Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect will improve the game of even the most casual weekend player.Amazon.com Review
One of golf guru Jim Flick's mantras is that golf is 90percent mental, and the other 10 percent is mental, too. Dr. BobRotella, a noted sports psychologist and performance consultant, rootsaround the golfer's mind to expose--and analyze--the doubts, thefears, and the frustrations that haunt anyone who's ever picked up aclub and swung it. Through anecdote and aphorism he suggests how thesemental and emotional hazards can be played through, and, regardless ofskill level, how teeing off with a more positive and confident outlookwill translate into better performance. ... The year: 1956.Four decades have passed since Eddie Lowery came to fame as the ten-year-old caddie to U.S. Open Champion Francis Ouimet. Now a wealthy car dealer and avid supporter of amateur golf, Lowery has just made a bet with fellow millionaire George Coleman. Lowery claims that two of his employees, amateur golfers Harvie Ward and Ken Venturi, cannot be beaten in a best-ball match. Lowery challenges Coleman to bring any two golfers of his choice to the course at 10 a.m. the next day to settle the issue.

Coleman accepts the challenge and shows up with his own power team: Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson, the game's greatest living professionals, with fourteen major championships between them.

In Mark Frost's peerless hands, complete with the recollections of all the participants, the story of this immortal foursome and the game they played that day--legendarily known in golf circles as the greatest private match ever played--comes to life with powerful, emotional impact and edge-of-your-seat suspense. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars The Match
Unbelievable that I am an avid golfer and had never heard about this Match. And it was my first introduction to Harvie Ward - of course I knew the others.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best golf stories ever
If you like golf you must read this book, it's written in a superb manner!

5-0 out of 5 stars Compelling
I adored this book.Managed to take a single practice round played six decades ago and turn it into a compelling story. I learned so much about the origins of golf and finished the book feeling the need to read a biography on Bing Crosby.

2-0 out of 5 stars No match for his earlier books
I loved Frost's "The Greatest Game Ever Played" and "Grand Slam," so I picked up "The Match" with anticipation. It was, though, quite disappointing. When I got to the end, I couldn't figure out for the life of me why this match marked the "day the game of golf changed forever."I thought the hole-by-hole reporting of the match was less than captivating. The histories of the four golfers were quite interesting, but the book makes almost no case for why this match really did change the game of golf.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Overview of Historical Event
As the author notes, this match could never take place today. Two of the greatest golfers of all time in a "practice round" with the two top amateurs of the day. Beyond giving solid histories on each player, and even the two business men who concocted this event, Frost really excells at painting descriptions of the match -- hole by hole, shot by shot. Not only does he place the reader at the match with his portrayal of how it unfolded, but one can feel some level of the tension that must have engulfed the players and the building gallery at Cyprus that day. If you are a golf or sports fan of any type, you'll enjoy this one immensely. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I recently retired and decided to learn to play golf. This book has been so helpful that I have read it twice. I don't know how valuable it would be for golfers with low handicaps, but for most of us just learning to play the game as well as golfers struggling to play bogey golf, the book is outstanding. As another viewer remarked, the book contains typos, but the typos were not distracting (and I'm a retired English teacher). For $1, you can't go wrong with this book. I would have paid much more!

1-0 out of 5 stars Please don't waste your time
Purchased this for 99 cents.I got what I paid for.But the real tragedy is the time I wasted to find that this book held no benefit. If you are interested in the mental aspect of golf then maybe read this book.If you are looking to improve your game in 6 weeks as the title suggest, then this will be a disappointment.

4-0 out of 5 stars Weekend Golfer
Book was informative and helpful.I was a bit surprised and disappointed in the number of typographical errors in the book. But I guess for the price, I was able to read through the errors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rest Golf Book Ever!
99 cents? This book is worth at least 10 times that. I'm a weekend golfer, not the club champion. This book explained what I needed to know to get a handle on my game and enjoy playing more. I really enjoyed the "Big Hole Putting" chapter. My game greatly improved in just 6 weeks exactly as the title implied. An easy read done in a quick, crisp style.

5-0 out of 5 stars John Purner's new book really improved my golf game.
Everything I thought I knew about how to drive, chip or putt was wrong! "6 Weeks to Winning Weekend Golf" spells out 10 make-
sense steps that will turn any 'duffer' into a golfing pro. John Purner may not be the "Sultan of Swat" but he is without doubt the
"Socrates of Swing". Thankfully he took the time to write this book and luckily I read it. A round of golf is now the highlight of my
week rather than "a good walk spoiled" as Mark Twain put it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great golf book!Great companion video!
I purchased this book shortly after publication and it quickly became a personal favorite. It provides the simplest, clearest method to learn the full golf swing that I've ever read.Mike's exercises are simple enough for an absolute beginner (as demonstrated in the VHS companion video; more about that below) and useful to an experienced golfer.Mike's approach to learning the fundamentals of the golf swing is the least technical, least mechanical that I know of and his drills serve as an excellent review of those fundamentals when my swing starts to fall apart.I only wish that I had turned to this book more quickly and more often during the many times that I've struggled with my game.I've recently started using Mike's keys as swing thoughts while playing golf ("relaxed arms and shoulders", "lighthouse turn", etc.) and they have helped banish some of the negative, tension inducing thoughts that tend to creep into my game.I've also found Mike's swing keys helpful in my short game, especially the relaxed arms and shoulders.

I mentioned Mike's companion VHS video which is no longer available for sale.I sincerely hope that he will bring this video back to market as a DVD or as a digital download. It is the simplest video of golf instruction that I've ever seen and is more than a simple retelling of the contents of the book on which it is based. In the video, we get to witness him teaching the full swing to a young woman who has clearly not previously swung a club. Her progress is rapid, persuasive and, frankly, inspirational ("If she can learn to swing like that ...").Watching Mike demonstrate his key movements and watching his student learn them complement the clear explanations in the book very well.If this video is ever again for sale, it will automatically receive my highest recommendation.

5-0 out of 5 stars wow
This book is outstanding. It gets down to the real feel and the actual motions that you must perform to be successful. The part about the lighthouse turn and the shifting of weight is priceless. I've been trying to shift weight and rotate my hips for years with pretty awful shots alot of the time but M. Mcteigue actual tells you the real movements you must perform and what you must feel. It's all about the knees and how you move them. You will seriously be amazed at how you compress the ball once you get the hang of it. The main thing is just keep working on it and eventually you will figure it out. What actually happens in the golf swing is much different than what i thought it was for a long time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Book!
As a beginning player, I've struggled with getting a good swing. This book really helped break down the swing into ways I could easily understand and with it I was able to understand what I was doing wrong. My swing has really improved in just one week, thanks to this author.Truly an excellent book worth every penny!

5-0 out of 5 stars Agree with the others
The overwhelming positive reviews prompted me to purchase this, and I have to say that I agree with them.It was a fabulous book to learn and get a feel for the basic swing motion. The book is written in an easy-to-read format and his visualization examples really helped.

After this, I have bought other instruction materials, and I've used those to further tweak my swing, which is still a work in progress. But if there's one book I would start with for those beginning golf or those frustrated with their swing, I think this would be a fine choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Golf Swing Dynamics
The book arrived promptly and in good condition.I read it in conjunction with Jim Suttie's book "Your Perfect Swing".This book lacks a lot of the fine detail of the golf swing compared to Suttie's book, but is a fabulous accessory book to have because it covers how one goes about obtaining a smooth and effortless swing.I studied this book and now believe I know what the "feel" is I should have relative to producing that smooth and effortless swing.I currently am in the process of committing that "feel" into "muscle memory".This book truely helped with that process, while Jim Suttie's book helped me produce a swing that is free of hooks and slices. Both books are very complementary, well written and I feel better about my golf swing after having read (studied) both books! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must have must do if you play golf
If you play golf once a week or every day this book is a must read, especially if you are in the over 50 crowd and your range of motion has suffered from years of neglect, meaning stretching, weight training, fitness walking, biking etc.To jump out of the car and into the cart is an invitation for injury even if you are young and fit. It's just that the young and fit don't break as easily or quickly as the older and stiffer like myself. What I like about this book is that he covers all the aspects of how to play good golf without injury. It is not a cookbook of exercises to make you stronger and more flexible. He really wants you to understand what you are doing to your body when you swing a club and how if not done correctly it can lead to injury. He guides the reader through the process of evaluating how to better care for yourself both off the course, just before you play, and the importance of what comes after a game.
The book is divided into three parts.Be sure to read the first part about performance enhancement as it does more than tell you how to get that extra 20 yards off the Tee but how to do it without throwing your back into a spasm. He goes through the mechanics of how your body works for the more challenging part of the game which is mostly the long game. Most golfers are safe from injury when putting but wouldn't it be nice to be able to squat on the ground and read the green?
This section goes through the pre game warm up of 5 minutes, the 15 minute warm up if you have time, how to stay limber through 18 holes exercises, and then the cool down.I especially like the mental game exercises as too many golfers raise their blood pressure when the wheels come off their game.It not only ruins their game and a good day of golf but often the people that are playing with them get affected by negative attitude.Staying mentally calm is really important in golf and critical to the short game when it comes to controlling adrenaline.
Part 2 goes into a series of exercises that you can build a regime around based on your fitness, flexibility, and time. They range from simple stretching to some more robust near calisthenics. It is his advice to do what you feel comfortable doing and build up to the harder exercises if your doctor says it is ok.
Part 3 goes through the injuries that happen to golfers. It is a good summary of why they happen, what they feel like, and how to avoid them.
The book is well written, not preachy, and easy enough to understand and follow the principles he advises for golfers.

3-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
I purchased this book in hopes it would provide incite on golf fitness. It has some good qualities breaks down the swing, and how the body works and contains a section for yoga stretches. there in on order in exercises more all over the place and does not provide a sample of a basic workout to start from.Nothing you can't find on you-tube.

5-0 out of 5 stars Got Golf Exercises?
If you play golf and are looking to get in better shape to either improve your game or prevent imjuries, look no further, Golf Rx: A 15-Minute-a-Day Core Program for More Yards and Less Pain is just what the doctor ordered. In fact, it's written by a doctor.

The book is divided up into distinct sections. There's a chapter on exercises to increase the air time and distance of your drives. There also is a chapter with warm-up exercises, another that has stretches you can do at each of the eighteen holes, and a cool-down exercise chapter. No stone is left unturned as the book also gives you three series of exercises, one for core flexibility, one for core strength, and one for core endurance- choose depending on your skill level and what your goals are.

As you can see, this book has definitely got its share of golf execises that should meet most golfer's needs. So if you're trying to get in better shape for you game, or just want to stay away from injuries, this is your book. Also recommend Treat Your Own Rotator Cuff for golfers with shoulder problems that want a more detailed look at shoulder rehab and prevention.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wanna make a single digit handicap
I bought this book to help me break the 11 handicap barrier I have been pushing for the last few months. Been focused on short game but know getting myself in better shape would also help. Am planning on using these over winter and see what the spring brings. Initial reading makes sense so am looking forward to using the suggestions.

Author Chris Santella asked esteemed golf industry professionals around the world to recommend their favorite course. The content of each course description is approached like a magazine article, with quotes from each interview interwoven with well-written descriptions of the course and a few special holes. The accompanying photos are excellent, and the "If You Go" section at the end of each course provide some basic directions on how to get to the course, where to stay, and how to book your round. Product Description

A detailed plan for conquering the FEAR that sabotages swings and ruins psyches, from the pioneering psychologist whose techniques have benefited Davis Love III, Justin Leonard, and numerous other world-class golfers.

As Jack Nicklaus once observed, fear is the golfer’s greatest enemy, inspiring Tiger Woods to "refuse" to give in to this debilitating emotion. It can turn professionals into jelly and dominate the games of most amateurs. It alters swing paths, causes “tap-in” putts to go awry, and transforms a golfer from a brilliant shot-maker on the practice range into an incompetent hack on the course.

Most golfers understand this, but do not have the tools to overcome it. That’s where Dr. Gio Valiante comes in. A pioneering sports psychologist, Valiante has studied the sources of an athlete’s fear, investigated the physiological and neurological impact of fear on performance, and, most important of all, developed a groundbreaking program for conquering it. With Valiante's help and by applying Fearless Golf, Justin Leonard went from three consecutive missed cuts to three consecutive top tens, and Chad Campbell recently moved from 98th in the world to 7th. Davis Love III went from zero wins in 2002 to four wins in 2003, and Chris DiMarco made the 2004 Ryder Cup Team.

Emphasizing the need to replace a fixation-on-results with a commitment to mastery of one’s body and one's mind, Valiante’s approach will not only help golfers reach their true potential, it will make playing every round fun again. Through concrete confidence and mastery drills, he presents specific ways readers can break free of fear’s grasp and perform at their best—even under the most extreme pressure.

With detailed quotes and anecdotes given exclusively to Dr. Valiante from the best players in the game—including Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, and other tour professionals, Fearless Golf is the ultimate guide to the mental game, the hottest topic in golf today.

5-0 out of 5 stars Improve Your Confidence and Hit Better Shots
Of all the books I have read on improving my golf game, I have to say that Fearless Golf by Dr. Gio Valiante has produced the best results for me. The book discusses Dr. Valiante working with golf professionals on tour, young developing players in college and applies his theories to hackers, which he defines as anyone struggling to break 90. Well, in my case, I am struggling to break 100.

After not playing for nearly two years, because of a bad knee and an eventual full knee replacement, I have found it very difficult to hit even a few good shots turning a round of golf. I finally decided that I was either going to get better or give the game up entirely. I began working with a professional who helped me improve my swing and gain confidence in my new left knee. After a while, I began to shift my weight forward onto the new knee, which allowed me to follow through and not hang back on my right leg, which caused either a terrible slice or a horrendous push to the right.

Unfortunately, my game was still not improving even though I was striking the ball better. The problem was consistency.I played some holes very well, but on too many other holes my scores were horrendous. Just give me an 8x I would say. Then one day I happened to read a quote by Dr. Valiante in the Financial Times that was being used by a columnist to address a business issue. The quote struck a nerve and I looked up Fearless Golf on Amazon and read the reviews to see if I would have an interest in the book. The reviews were generally positive, so I decided to purchase the book and read it.

The book is small in format, consisting of 275 pages and an easy read. I especially enjoyed the chapter on "self-efficacy". As Dr. Valiante states, "self-efficacy are those beliefs that people hold about their capability to organize and execute the courses of action required to manage specific situations. Put more simply, self-efficacy is belief in our ability to succeed. That is the very essence of confidence."

I began to apply the concept of self-efficacy to my golf game. Using the holes I played well as a foundation, I began gaining confidence in my ability to repeat a good golf swing, which resulted in improved accuracy and longer and consistent distance on an increased number of holes. The process is not easy and it takes a lot of concentration, which is an essential part of self-efficacy. But, I am improving and more importantly, I am enjoying playing the game with my friends.

I highly recommend Fearless Golf to anyone at any level who is trying to improve their golf game. With a small investment of money and time, what do you have to lose?

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied
I was very pleased with the condition of the book. It was almost like new.The price was considerably less than what I would have had to pay for a new one in a book store.Thank you!

5-0 out of 5 stars learning how to loose the fear and play better golf
I am sure that many people (golfers) that read this think they will pick up that one tip that will turn their game around. Not so.The book is very repetitive. He says the same thing over and over and over using quotes from his three most favorite golfers...Hogan, Nicklaus and Tiger. He also references many know and unknown golfers and allows them to speak in their own words how fear affects their game.Back to the repitition; this is the point of writing a book on the psychology of the mental game. You say it over and over in a number of different ways and through the eyes of great golfers. At some point what he says will sink in, even to the thickest of heads. What I really liked about the book was to hear the words of Hogan, Nichlaus and Tiger when it came to playing the mental side. The book inspired me because these great golfers have actually experienced things I am struggling with as a beginner.I would not know how much the mental side of the game is translated into your body and then through your swing.I understand the fundamentals of psychology but to have them applied to a game I love has helped me calm down a lot on the course and do the things he said..."what is my goal on this round", "what is my goal on this hole", and "what is my target".

I have also read all of Rotellas' books and found them informative but a bit light weight and really repetitive to the point where it is no longer useful.I would not say that about Fearless Golf as they way he has the book laid out it is planned to build from point to point and reinforce it chapter by chapter.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but too long
I have to agree with other reviewers. The message is a good one but it takes way too many pages to make the key points. There are also too many stories of PGA golfers and not enough of regular Joes using his technique. He writes well and the science was interesting but I didn't really get to the meat until the last 60 or 70 pages.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book
Great book,

This book is a must have in your library. there's plenty useful information that can be put into practice.

Featuring further reflections by the author, this classic--and bestselling--tale of golf and mysticism reveals the possibilities for transcendence that reside in the human soul.Amazon.com Review
Esalen Institute founder Michael Murphy's divine meditation on the royal and ancientgame defied categorization when it was first published in 1972, and it still does. Instantlyhailed as a classic, Golf in the Kingdom is an altogether unique confluence of fiction, philosophy, myth, mysticism, enchantment, and golf instruction. The central characteris a wily Scotsman named Shivas Irons, a golf professional by vocation and a shaman by design, whom Murphy, as participant in his own novel, meets in 1956 on the links of Burningbush, in Fife. The story of their round of golf together culminates in a wild night of whiskey andwisdom where, as Shivas demonstrates how the swing reflects the soul, their golf quiteliterally takes on a metaphysical glow. The events alter not only Murphy's game, but they also radically alterhis mind and inner vision; it's truly unforgettable. For a golfer, Murphy's masterpieceisas essential as a set of clubs. ... This is the third time I've purchased this book in the past 30 years. It somehow keeps getting borrowed, and shall we say, adopted. I worked for a golf products manufacturer for 20 years and I kept it on my desk as a kind of "channel" when things weren't up to par. If there is one ingredient that is the perfect addition to golf, it is mysticism.I would categorize the book for you, but there isn't one.Great read (and re-read) regardless of your participation in the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Golf for the Zen side of you.
This is a great little book about the "inner" game of golf and what it really means. I enjoyed it and then donated it to my local library.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GOLF READ
I'm currently half way through this book, and brother, let me tell you it's a great read.
It's about golf and a fictional character named Shivas Irons-who is quickly becoming an icon in the golf world.

If you golf, read this book.
If you don't golf and don't understand why people golf-read this book.
If you don't care, why are you reading this?

I gotta go now and finish read Golf in the Kingdom before the movie comes out!

5-0 out of 5 stars Inspired and Inspiring!
It's been many years since I first read "Golf in the Kingdom" but I'm still trying to get other people to read it.Yes, it is ostensibly about golf, but it's really about the golfer's relationship to himself. When I read the book, I was an avid though struggling golfer - having a standing tee time at a particular Portland Oregon public golf course - Heron Lakes. The day after I finished reading the book, I met my usual golfing bud at the course first thing in the morning. We were teamed up with two singles and off we went for a round of golf.Right away I knew something was different with my game.Being a high handicapper - and a woman to boot - I was often somewhat embarrassed to play with more proficient male players. But that day I came out swinging and hit my best game ever - 95 for 18.Not so fantastic, you say.But to me it was a mind-blowing event.I had been playing serious, regular golf for years and had never broken 100!

Golf in the Kingdom is more than a mystical encounter with a ghost on Ye Auld Course... it uses golf as a metaphor for a way of living that takes you out of your usual and into something higher, something better, something beyond your pale everyday downtown existence.

Obviously, I HIGHLY recommend GOLF IN THE KINGDOM! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Very, Very Deceptive... especially with reviews
I am an Amazon Prime Member, and order on average every week from Amazon.I am typically a satisfied customer, but this is really irritating. This book is NOT the full version. It is a "miniature" version. If you are an insanely diligent shopper and read the actual dimensions for the book, you would have been tipped off to this. However, if you read the "good" reviews, its for the full version of this publication.Nowhere in the product description does it indicate this is the miniature version, outside of the product dimensions (and maybe ISBN if you are that analytical).Overall, its very disappointing to be ripped off be a retailer that has earned so much of my business.I hope Amazon is happy with the $9 revenue they have earned off jipping me on the "mini" version packaged as the full version, but it will cost them thousands this holiday season.CONGRATULATIONS AMAZON!

All of the above aside, it is kind of a neat novelty gift.Caveat emptor... this is not as it seems from the description and reviews.

5-0 out of 5 stars Late Golf Bloomer
What a great resource for newbies to the game. As a 72-year-old who doesn't even know when/where one changes from street to golf shoes, it's all covered in this well-written nicely priced book...while my instructor hasn't encouraged me to go out on the course...just yet...I know some things about golf strokes that my so-called "good" golfer neighbors don't know!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Transaction
This item was priced right, shipped quickly and in great condition when it arrived. I would use this seller again!

5-0 out of 5 stars great resource for a beginner
While you still benefit best from a personal lesson, reading this book has been very helpful!

1-0 out of 5 stars Worthless, a rip off
This book is worthless, a complete waste of money. I bought it three years ago when I started playing golf. I keep going back it hoping to get some value out of it. About 50 rounds later, I'm a pretty good golfer but have learned nothing from this book. Check out Ben Hogan's book, David Leadbetter's DVDs and lots of free videos on the Internet for something that will help you. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Zen & the Art of Golf
The book is excellent, basically following an approach to the golfers attitude, mindset, and awareness which in turn leads to more control and the ability to incorporate change in a natural, very centered manner. My golf improved by 4-5 strokes soon after reading it.I plan to re-read it before the next season.

3-0 out of 5 stars The humanistic side of golf
I guess you would call this a book on golf philosophy.Although I should not have been surprised at the general approach of Extraordinary Golf, nonetheless it didn't appeal to me. It started out well on topics that I could see might help me enjoy the game more, such as how to overcome the constant feeling that I'm not playing well enough. But then it slides into softer topics, like how to have closer more meaningful relationships with my golfing buddies, etc., etc. Hmmmm. Not for me.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best-ever golf head books
Shoemaker's book is light on fixing what's wrong with your technique, and strong on enlightening your overall approach to the game ... which leads to greater enjoyment and happiness.Which also winds up improving performance.

If you believe that what you need in order to enjoy the game is to knock off a few strokes per round, this is probably not a book for you.Shoemaker teaches readers how to learn, and how to improve awareness, concentration, focus and self-coaching ... all with an eye towards enjoying this game we all love. You will likely improve your scoring, and you will definitely improve your enjoyment of the game and everything surrounding it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Throwing clubs, when it's ok
Extraordinary Golf examines and reveals a unique approach to playing the game as well as the body's inherent ability to swing a golf club.

Since most golfers buy books like Extraordinary Golf after learning from the 'Culture of Golfers', The author, Fred Shoemaker, introduces a fresh look at how and why we play the game, as well as a different approach to discovering one's own swing.

Extraordinary Golf's use of video footage of golfers throwing clubs graphically demostrates this fact.

Fred's premise is that our bodies have always known how to swing a golf club.He relates that most of us know THAT guy who started playing at a very young age.Extraordinary Golf gets us to open our minds to the possibility that our inner child still exists but our adult minds interfere with our ability to learn like kids.

To be sure, Fred Shoemaker is not a physcologist nor is Extraordinary Golf a treatise on taking it one shot at a time.Indeed I believe just the opposite is true.Extraordinary Golfers are very much looking forward to the next shot.

A friend gave me this book eight years ago when I was about to give up on the game.Like most books, I read the forward. Two pages in I read these words: 'The purpose of this book is to show you that the game of golf you are playing is not the only possible one.'

With those words in mind, I read the entire book.It brought the joy of the game back to me and for what it's worth, a much lower handicap on much less practice. The books greatest message is that you can't make it happen, you can only let it happen.

Indeed a coach myself I've become a student of Extraordinary Coaching.

A must read for any golfer.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book!
I have heard it said that a round of golf is a lesson in life.I believe that to be true and this book is a wonderful companion for any golfer. It mostly is about living life to the fullest and being happy/content.It does give some great suggestions about how to play the game of golf and life. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Golf My Way:Jack Nicklaus
The first part of the book is definately outdated. It is a good read and you do get some insight into the greaest golfer of all time, but there are a lot better instructional books available.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have for any golfer!
A classic into understanding how one of golfs greatest players understood and played the game.In golf I follow Jack Nicklaus and Ben Hogan. This is a great read and covers golf from birth to retirement.

5-0 out of 5 stars The book has become my bible
The instruction in this book is excellent.Jack breaks down his golf swing into terms that make it easy to follow.I've played gold for over 40 years and it wasn't until I read his book that I really learned how to swing a golf club properly which has resulted in my hitting the ball consistently and effectively.I first got the book from the library and then purchased it so that I could "highlight" the important points and keep it as a reminder of what to do when I "fell off the wagon!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Golf Booik
I learned more in the 1st 3 chapters than I learned from any lesson. And the chapter on what I call "Golf Speak" explained all the hook, slice, fade etc.Great book for beginner or advanced golfer. He talks my language.

5-0 out of 5 stars Before Tigermania there was this guy named Jack...
And his book is an excellent read for anyone who plays the game.Jack shares an awful lot of what made him the greatest golfer of his time (and I'm still not convinced of all time).Having owned the original, the revised version is even better. This book is a must for any golfer's library. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Good weight training book, but not golf specific
I agree with the review by Mongo. This is a well written and organized book about weight training, but is not specifically written to improve golf conditioning and not very useful unless you want to engage in a serious weight training regimen. There are only a few perfunctory references to golf and there are no sections on stretching and flexibility exercised for golf.I also ordered "Golf Shape" by Reid and found it much more what I was looking for.It is 100% golf specific and covers both flexibility and strength training and has sections explaining how different exercises relate to different parts of the golf swing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Useless for Golfers
This book has about five pages of information that is even vaguely golf-specific (pp. 9-14); the rest are how to perform weight lifting and specific exercises, with some generic diet advice. The problem is that there is almost no link between the two parts of the book, as in "This exercise will help with your grip" or "These exercises strengthen your forearms, which is important because..." While I haven't read or looked at all of them, there are 30 books by this author (listed on the back page of this one) claiming to be weight training for different sports. It looks as though the author wrote one book for weight lifting and grafted on a few pages in front and changed the title to make it seem sport-specific. In fact, there are more pages of advertising in the back of the book (six) for the author's website than there are golf-specific pages. It would be interesting to see if the same typos are in all of the books. If you're a lifter who wants to take up golf, this book may be helpful, but if you're a golfer or golfer-wannabe, this book is total waste of money.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great Training Book, But Not Golf Specific
I've been involved in weight training at a high level for over 30 years.I took up golf later in life (late 30s) and was looking for a book that would provide exercises and routines that would help me move from pure strength-building to a program tailored for the golfer -- focusing more on flexibility, core strength and other exercises that would improve a golfer's game. This book might mention "golf" a handful of times, but is otherwise far from sport specific. That said, it's an excellent book for anyone who wants to learn about the fundamentals of weight training -- good illustrations of many of the exercises you'll see in every gym (free weights only) and a good, comprehensive collection of pre-set programs that are geared for different skill/experience levels.I've downgraded it 2 stars because the mention of "golf" in the title is completely misleading -- if you religiously followed the "strength building" routines from this book, you almost certainly wouldn't improve your golf game, which relies far more on touch than brute strength.

5-0 out of 5 stars Over all workout
I think, the workouts listed here would help me in every area of life, not just golf. Its a great set of exercises.
Now, if I could only find the motivation required to stick to them :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted
I was looking for a book that actually had workout routines to specifically target areas that would increase my golf game and this one had it. It also has pre-season and off-season workouts which are a plus. It is a very detailed book. Great book! ... Read more

Product Description
Theres no denying that Tiger Woods has taken golf by storm. It seems like every time this 25-year-old swings a club, another PGA record is shattered. While his explosive drives, accurate approach shots, and steady putter certainly contribute to this success, both fans and critics agree that its Tigers devastating mental game that has propelled him to become the premier golfer of our time. Now Tiger shares his thoughts on what he calls the game of a lifetime. He reveals the five secrets he believes are responsible for his successa combination of physical, metaphysical, and psychological practices he uses daily to keep his game in top shape and help him to transcend all the ups and downs of golf. Best of all, Tiger reveals his unique approach to the game for the first time ever in this one singular volume. Tiger Woods became the youngest player ever to complete the career Grand Slam of professional major championships and only the fifth ever to do so, following the likes of Jack Nicklaus. He was also the youngest Masters champion ever, at the age of 21, and has since won 29 tournaments, including the 1999 and 2000 PGA Championships, the 2000 U.S. Open Championship, and the 2000 British Championship. He is the career victories leader among active players on the PGA tour. How I Play Golf will be lavishly illustrated with colour photos throughout, special design features, and easy-to-follow diagrams that will clarify and complement Tigers instructions. Its certain to be the #1 gift book of the year. First serial in Golf Digest.Amazon.com Review
No athlete has changed his sport the way Tiger Woods has transformed the world of golf. The Tiger phenomenon has created a new legion of golfers, seduced by Woods's almost effortless mastery of this most difficult game. In How I Play Golf Woods reveals the many facets of his game and offers a plethora of tips and advice aimed at all levels of play. Unlike most golf guides, and perhaps somewhat surprising from a player best known for his long game, How I Play Golf begins with the short game--putting, chipping, and pitching--before moving onto swing mechanics and hitting off the tee. Produced in conjunction with the editors of Golf Digest, the book is lavishly photographed and illustrated and offers a gold mine of useful ideas and mental images Tiger has collected over the years. Throughout, Tiger recounts memorable shots from his relatively brief career; for example, his only "perfect" shot (a 3-wood on No. 14 at St. Andrews) and his first putt at the 1995 Masters (a 20-footer for birdie on No. 1 that missed and rolled off the green). How I Play Golf is not only a first-rate instructional guide, it also communicates a passion and respect for the game that beginners, hackers, and low handicappers should find inspiring. Highly recommended. --Harry C. Edwards ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tiger Woods
The book was in very good shape and was an excellent example of what was advertised. Thank you for your correct and accurate shipment of the book advertised.

5-0 out of 5 stars Golfers will enjoy this book
I enjoyed listening to Tiger Woods` "How I Play Golf". My husband is the golfer in the family and I got this book for him. I started listening to it and was so wrapped up in the book that I finished it before he began it. Tiger is an exceptional player. In this book, he explains many different aspects of how he plays the game. His father taught him to play when he was a young boy. He learned to play in the dark which helped him win one amazing tournament. The book covers a lot of information such as: how to have a great backswing, common mistakes and how to avoid them, controlling the spin of your ball and direction, and how to practice your shots and have fun doing it. There are plenty of photos that support Tiger's text.

Golfers will enjoy this book. Whether you want to improve your swing, learn to choose the right club, perfect your grip, and improve your stance, you will find this book a valuable resource. Learn from the best, Tiger Woods. Highly recommended for all golfers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Golf Instruction Book
This book is a must for any golfer wishing to improve his/her game. It is clearly written with great sequential pictures and illustrations. It explains many of the fundamentals in an easy to understand manner. Based on the information in the book, I changed my grip and technique for putting and I am much more consistent. I also changed my grip and swing technique for my drives with much better results. With some practice over the past month using the techniques from this book, I've moved from a 90's to 80's golfer. It is the best golf book I've ever read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly enjoying this audiobook...
Really good car "read."It's funny because the narrator sort of sounds like Tiger too... Really good visualization tool, and the PDF's are pretty helpful in concert with the audio.Couldn't help but laugh, though, when Tiger states, "I like to have fun" when talking about celebrating after a win.

4-0 out of 5 stars Tiger Woods book
I've only read a couple of chapters but from that sample the book is very good.

The book is an easy read- informative without being technical and the right amount of anecdote is mixed in.

The only negative I can find so far is the actual writing style. After hearing him talk & realizing his age at the time of publication the words don't seem to be his voice. It seems that editors style is most prevalent. It's not a problem once you get used to it though it was a disappointment at first. ... Read more
