Purchase includes a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: Illinois High School Association -The IHSA is governed according to the rules of its constitution. This constitution covers the broadest policies of the Association, such as membership, governance, officers and their duties, and meeting requirements. The IHSA is led by an eleven-member Board of Directors. All eleven members are high school principals from member schools. Seven of the ten are elected to three-year terms from seven geographic regions within the state of Illinois. Three other board members are elected at-large. A treasurer, who does not vote, is appointed by the Board. The Board of Directors determines IHSA policies and employs an executive director and staff. They also work with the Illinois General Assembly, the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois Principals Association, the Illinois Association of School Boards, the Illinois Association of School Administrators, the Illinois Athletic Directors Association and the North Central Association. The IHSA also has a 35-member Legislative Commission, consisting of 21 high school principals, seven high school athletic directors elected from each of the seven state regions, and seven at-large members. The commission reviews amendment proposals to the IHSA Constitution and By-laws, and determines which are passed on to a vote of the member schools. Each school receives one vote on any amendments, with voting taking place annually in December. Changes are passed by simple majority of member schools. The day-to-day running of the Association is charged to an administrative staff of nine, one of whom acts in the position of Executive Director. This group is directly responsible for setting up and runni...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=2562414 ... Read more

Chapters: Illinois High School Boys Basketball Championship, South Egyptian Conference Basketball, New Trier Swim Club. Source: Wikipedia. Pages: 23. Not illustrated. Free updates online. Purchase includes a free trial membership in the publisher's book club where you can select from more than a million books without charge. Excerpt: The Illinois High School Boys Basketball Championship is a single elimination tournament held each spring. It is organised by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). In 1939, H.V. Porter of the IHSA coined the term "March Madness"From 1908-1971, it was a single tournament contested by nearly all high schools in Illinois. In 1972, the tournament was divided into two divisions based on school size, (A and AA), each producing a separate champion. In 2008, the tournament was divided into four separate divisions (1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A). The Illinois High School Basketball Championship was the first tournament to be called 'March Madness'. The term was first used about the Illinois tournament in 1939, decades before it was used about NCAA basketball tournament. Under the current four class system, teams are assigned to a class, based on the student population, with adjustments made for single gender schools, and for schools which are not four year high schools. Within the class, schools are geographically assigned to a sectional, unless there is too much distance between schools. In that case, the teams are assigned to a smaller regional tournament within the sectional. Within the sectional (or regional), coaches seed the teams. The seeds then determine placement into one of four regional tournaments. The regional tournament is a single elimination tournament. The winners of the four regional tournaments then meet in a single elimination sectional tournament. The sectional tournament is designed such that, should the highest seeded teams win, the #1 seed would face the #4 seed, and the #2 seed fac...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=22207475 ... Read more
