5-0 out of 5 stars "The book"
I bought this book in a local market in Pataya Beach, Thailand. The locals all gathered around as I bought "the book". The author wrote it as a pledge to his teacher who "imparted (to me) all his knowledge of Thai boxing."
Great overview of Muay Thai: Origins, Initiation Ceremony, Daily Training, Warming up, massage, exercises, weight reduction, targets on the body, boxing tactics, equiptment, wraping the hands, thai boxing musical instruments, physical and social values, guard and movements, Wai Khruu dance. The techniques are broken down into chapters: fists, elbows, knees, and feet. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Introduction to Kick Boxing
This is a remarkably well illustrated book which provides an excellent overview of kickboxing, The book begins with a concise discussion of the history of kick boxing and then leaps right in to chapters on "the fundamentals", "secondary techniques", defense and counterattacks, "speed and power" and "conditioning" to name a few. The techniques described virtually always include sequential photos demonstrating the particular move which will be of great value to students of this combat art. Many of the conditioning techniques and as well as the training schedule detailed in the book would likely be applicable to many other martial acts as well as those readers just interested in general fitness. The book even includes a chapter on the role of the coach. This book is certainly recommended reading for all present students of kickboxing as well as those who are curious about this martial art or just interested in physical fitness ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad
This book gives you a good understanding of the basic techniques in kickboxing. It goes into some advanced combonations but mostly basic. There is a brief section on training with thai pads, power shield, and punchingbag which gives you a basic knowledge of how to do them. But if you want agood training book, get "King of the Ring" by Benny "TheJet" Urqidez which will go in depth on training with bags andpads. This book is overall pretty good but Benny's book "KarateDynamics" covers all of the striking techniques plus more. ... Book Description
“When I walk out of the tunnel, I can see the lights, hear the music, feel the crowd, but it all begins to close off as I near the cage. By that point I’m thinking, I’ve been training hard, it’s time to focus....Every man is born with a fight-or-flight instinct, and mine is to fight. It always has been.” —From the Prologue

What’s it like to have no fear, to make people cower in their shoes, to know the sweet satisfaction of knocking a guy out with a single, devastating punch? You have to read my book to find out. I’ve been called the baddest man on the planet. I’m the face of Ultimate Fighting Championship, the leader in mixed martial arts and the fastest growing sport in America. In 1998 I won my first MMA fight. Not long after, the UFC came calling, and eventually fought my way to become the #1 ranked light-heavyweight contender in the world. Not bad for a bartender with a college degree in accounting.

I was raised by a single mother and inspired by my grandfather, a first- generation Irish American from Mafia-run Brooklyn. I learned how to fight at a very young age. Now I’m 6'2", 220 pounds, and a trained lethal weapon, but I’m also fiercely loyal, maybe even a bit sensitive, and unexpectedly romantic. In raw detail, and with total honesty, I’m going to tell you the story of my fighting life—both inside and outside the Octagon— including my childhood in the poor section of Santa Barbara, gritty insider accounts of my major fights, stories behind my trademark mohawk and nickname, my ongoing rivalry with Tito Ortiz and deep-rooted friendship with Dana White, and how I balance life as a father, a UFC champ, and a superstar—or try to, anyway. With never-before-seen photos, Iceman is my true, no-holds-barred story of fighting my way to become a champion. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An MMA Fan Review
This book really put it into perspective how mainstream MMA has become.I didn't realize just how popular the sport and its fighters have become until I read this book.

The book also provides details and insight into why Chuck does what he does.It provides life changing events and the decisions Chuck made to keep going.I find myself thinking of Chuck's life and the decisions he made and it provides a calming influence to me as I now understand that life can only beat you up if you let it.I found the book helpful in understanding Chuck and I am an even bigger Liddell fan since reading the book.

3-0 out of 5 stars Iceman-My Fighting Life by Chuck Liddell
I am a huge fan of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) mixed martial arts sport, and this book is an informative and insightful look into the early days of the sport and the rise and ascension of arguably one of its biggest and most charasmatic stars, Chuck Liddell (the Iceman). It is written simply and straight-forward, and Chuck gives his own viewpoint into this fast-growing and dangerous sport, and what type of mental and physical commitment it takes to be successful.I enjoyed this book a lot, and recommend it to any new fan of the mixed martial arts sport.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good read.
I really enjoyed this book. As a fan of autobiographies, MMA and the UFC. After i read it, i felt i knew Chuck better and knew what made him tick how he got to where he was, both professionally and as a man. I felt I had a better knowledge of MMA and the UFC. It's a book about Chuck and hi slife as a fighter, not the history of MMA and the UFC, but since he was a part of the second comming, he gives some good insite and behind the scenes stuff. all this made me crave more, so unfourtunatley I bought the Matt hughes book after. For that I may never forgive Chuck, Ever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Worlds Better Than The Matt Hughes Book
This is a true MMA fan book. Liddell mentions his family life and how he was raised, but its more of a side note and it is relevant to his fight career and he keeps the reader intrigued. Unlike the miserably boring Matt Hughes book, which was nothing more than a biography about his family and farmlife where fighting was just kind of mentioned here and there, the Liddell book is a very fun read. This book shows the behind the scenes lifestyle, and all the things he went through to get to where he is.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Great, but not bad, easy read
The title pretty much explains it for me.The book was an easy read, not boring, and not great and not bad, maybe good.I felt the overall content from the book was lacking.I watch UFC and have been a fan since before he entered it, and I was glad to learn a little more about it and everything.Thats why I gave it a 4, if it would have been hard to read or slow, then it would have gotten a 3, but it was an easy good read. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great place to start learning the basics...
Easy to read with only 80 pages and medium text. The pages are full of information from physical training, correct ways to perform a jab, upper cut, right cross, and various kicks. How to work the ring and hold your own against an opponent. Trivia on different leagues, a weight class table, and suprisingly a page on hand wraps and types of gloves and equipment. I read it in one sitting. A real guide book for beginners.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kickboxing made simple!
This book is great! It shows you the general basics of the steps. It shows you motion by motion how you should move your feet and arms. Also there is a section about exercise and training. It explains everything really well.I think I was looking for a more "Tae-Bo" kind of work out.You have to put your own steps to music with this book, which is fine.It is fun and if you are interested in Kick Boxing I would say go for it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is where to learn the basics.
This is a great book for learning the fundamentals of kickboxing. Written in a clean and concise style, it covers the work-a-day world of becoming a kickboxer.Leaving out the 'grandmaster' stuff usually found in martial arts books, Kickboxing Basics focuses on the meat: how to get in shape; how to throw a punch/kick; how to move around the ring; and how to win a fight. As a 'basics' book, it doesn't go into a lot of detail, but does give firm pointers to the paths the reader should explore.A great read. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but not great
Although this book has quite a bit of useful information. It lacks organization and cohesiveness. Mr. Seabourne jumps around a lot, and in the end there is no natural flow to the information he provides. I think thisbook would have been more effective, if the chapters were as follows:introduction, punches, kicks, combination, stretching (pre- andpost-workout), shadow boxing and/or heavy bag work, conditioning drills, and workout plans. Most of this information was covered, but it wasscattered, confusing, and sometimes, incomplete. Furthermore, his suggestedworkouts are weak. My overall impression of this book is that it is rather"girlie." If you are looking for a really good book on thesubject, check out "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Kickboxing."

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and effective martial arts exercise.
Complete Cardiokickboxing blends martial arts with fitness basics to provide an injury free program to improve stamina and help users get in shape. From non-impact workouts which help prevent injuries to the correctmethods for punching, kicking, blocking and footwork, this blends routineswith advice on meditations to increase energy and mind/body interactions.Black and white photos abound with examples.

5-0 out of 5 stars Everything I needed to know about cardio kickboxing
Complete Cardiokickboxing is the most complete fitness book on the topic of punching and kicking to music available.

I was able to use Seaborne's suggestions and develop my own program.

I tried some of thevideos out there but they were too difficult.

I especially liked all ofthe tips and different training techniques. ... Read more
