Product Description
This report was created for global strategic planners who cannot be content with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless world", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This report covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated market size (in terms of latent demand) for each major city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their size as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic region (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the total world market.

In performing various economic analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to investigate the market potential for various products and services across cities. The purpose of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a country and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of distribution within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not represent a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or strategic planner, a city represents an area of dominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This influence varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the economic potential for the world's major cities for "titanium lacrosse sticks" for the year 2009. The goal of this report is to report my findings on the real economic potential, or what an economist calls the latent demand, represented by a city when defined as an area of dominant influence. The reader needs to realize that latent demand may or may not represent real sales. ... Read more

Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Lacrosse," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Lacrosse in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Lacrosse when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Lacrosse, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more

Product Description

Lacrosse legend Bob Scott describes Johns Hopkins's 2005 men's lacrosse season as "the greatest in the university's history." The last time the Blue Jays claimed the NCAA lacrosse championship, in 1987, Head Coach David Pietramala was on the field as a sophomore defenseman. In Undefeated, photographer James T. Van Rensselaer and writer John Jiloty of Inside Lacrosse magazine tell the exciting story of the Blue Jays' perfect season and their dramatic play in the NCAA tournament.

Van Rensselaer's spectacular color photographs capture this unforgettable season in all its grit and glory. His lens brings you so close you can feel the intensity of a crucial faceoff, hear the ball rip through the net, see the sweat dripping into the eyes of a focused defender, and you almost have to flinch at collisions that seem just a split second away.

All of what made this season THE season for the Jays is here -- from the seniors who led the team to four grueling overtime victories to the young players who performed so well in memorable games against perennial powers like Duke, Virginia, and Princeton. Undefeated bears witness to a high point in the long and illustrious tradition of Hopkins lacrosse and celebrates the players who brought the program back to the top.

Product Description
The American criminal justice system, though undoubtedly one of the best in the world, is far from perfect. Every once in a while a notorious case comes along and reveals its uglier side for instance, its differential treatment of whites and people of color. Such cases often garner huge amounts of national media attention and capture the sustained interest of a normally restless American public. Whatever their outcome, they provide academics with exceptional opportunities to study, learn, and teach about the justice system. They also offer the chance to study related matters, such as the conduct of particular law enforcement and other officials, as well as the underlying causes of crime and the public's reaction to it. The Duke lacrosse players' rape prosecution is one such case. One evening in March 2006, members of the lacrosse team held an off-campus party where alcohol was served and two erotic dancers were hired to perform. A disagreement broke out between the dancers and the players; later, one of the former, Crystal Mangum, alleged that three players had raped her. Mangum was black and relatively poor; the accused were white and relatively privileged. Up for re-election in a jurisdiction with many African American voters, District Attorney Mike Nifong pursued the case very aggressively. He used questionable identification procedures and was unusually outspoken in numerous local and national media appearances. Even after DNA evidence indicated that the defendants had not engaged in sexual activity with the victim, he declined to drop the charges. Worse, he hid other exculpatory DNA evidence. The case split the Duke campus, the Durham community, and observers at large into sharply divided factions. Desperately trying to preserve its hard-won reputation as an upper-echelon school, the university cancelled the lacrosse season, suspended the three indicted players, and commenced a series of internal investigations. After months of dramatic twists and turns, the North Carolina Bar Association charged Nifong with violating several ethics provisions based on his handling of the prosecution. Within days of being charged, Nifong relinquished the case to the North Carolina Attorney General who, after reviewing the proof, dismissed all remaining charges against the lacrosse players and publicly declared their innocence. After a thirteen-month ordeal, the case was finally over. Eventually, the disgraced Nifong was disbarred. ... Read more

Product Description
Learning from Divorce, by Christine A. Coates and E. Robert LaCrosse, is a practical book that will help you rid yourself of negative feelings of guilt and worry and replace them with positive feelings of growth and hope. Learning from Divorce will show you how to confront your fears and flaws, motivate you to move forward toward change, develop realistic hopes about succeeding with future relationships, and turn your failures into victories!
In this groundbreaking book the authors explain that divorce can be viewed as a developmental process, a period of transformation and growth. They help the reader understand why the divorce happened in the first place— how unrealistic expectations of a permanent honeymoon or a partner who would satisfy their infantile needs and solve all their childhood problems have so often led to immature and self-centered behavior. In place of this attitude, Learning from Divorce provides the reader with a more realistic view of marriage as a long-term commitment requiring loyalty, compromise, devotion, perseverance, and selflessness. This book shows that the rewards of love and family exceed most any other joy or aspiration in one's life and will help you

5-0 out of 5 stars You REALLY can learn from divorce.
All too often when people separate or divorce they see it as catastrophic and the end of everything as it has been. They allow it to hold them back and get stuck in the anger, hurt, devestation and blaming. This book, written for the person going through it, is subtitled "How to take responsibility, stop the blame, move on" and that is exactly what it teaches.
Any change can be painful; the more important the situation that is changed, the more painful it can be. One can be stymied and stagnated by that pain, or use it to learn and grow as a person. This amazing book guides you to become a better you; to understand how you got where you are and how to improve your chances in future relationships.
It is a wonderful gift to give yourself or to anyone you love who is going through, or has gone through, a separation or divorce.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tools to Get It Right (Life Ain't No Ground Hog Day!)
Psychoanalyst Freud describes in his psychoanalytic theory of "repetition-compulsion," our tendency to re-enact earlier experiences for the mind to heal itself of trauma. Philosopher Santayana reminds us that those who ignore the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. In "Learning from Divorce," divorce attorney-mediator Christie Coates and child custody and parenting evaluator-mediator Bob Lacrosse artfully provide tools for the sometimes painful, always challenging and often rewarding work of self-examination - in the aftermath of divorce. They urge the reader to:consider their role in choosing their partner and in the relationship's "breakup," discard the limiting myths of marriage, understand the divorce grieving process, shed old patterns of blame, and rediscover the authentic self.

"We don't have the luxury of Bill Murray's [wacky weatherman] character in [the movie] Ground Hog Day," the authors remind us. (There simply aren't unlimited chances in real life, to try and try again to "get it right" - to perfect our approaches to meaningful relationships.) "Learning From Divorce" provides powerful insight and practical direction in the HOW of rebuilding after, and even growing from, the often dark experience of divorce.

As a conflict resolution professional assisting couples with this life passage and having experienced firsthand divorce's challenges, I found this book a unique distillation of many earlier researchers' work and at the same time, a fresh look with new approaches and tools.Highly recommended for the layperson and professional alike! ... Product Description
Revolutionary Rangers: Daniel Morgan’s Riflemen and Their Role on the Northern Frontier, 1778-1783 – Richard B. LaCrosse, Jr. with introduction by Harry Kels Swan. Strengthen your understanding of the colonial struggle for independence with this book about the campaigns and exploits of the riflemen during these critical years of the Revolution, with special emphasis on the New York State frontier.

Here is the complete account of the riflemen and their weapons; the formation and battle record of this elite regiment; activities in Schoharie, Onoquaga and Unadilla; and during Sullivan’s campaign against the Iroquois. Biographical sketches detail the careers of the officers and men. Of special interest is an analysis of the myths versus the facts regarding the life of the legendary Timothy Murphy.

Appendices include a biographical sketch of Captain Jacob Hager; some new research on clothing; dress, equipage and firearms of American rifle officers; monuments, landmarks and historical sites associated with the riflemen; and a muster roll of the rifle corps in 1779.

"Author-rifleman Richard LaCrosse, Jr. contributes in this essay a vital but forgotten chapter of our national Revolutionary War history. The role of the riflemen on the American northern frontier from 1777 to 1783, a vital segment in our war for political independence from Great Britain, has not been addressed by national historians. The significance of these farm-bred and trained soldiers, who employed American-made rifles in winning the war along this northern frontier, can now be assessed by students of our Revolution. In this splendid essay, author LaCrosse has contributed a readable and accurate portrait of a little-known and less appreciated segment of the American Revolution."

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent source of information on this famous and unique regiment:
For me, this is a very interesting book about Morgan's Riflemen, since my 4th great-grandfather served in this regiment, in his brother's rifle company (Captain Gabriel Long). Many of the soldier's names are listed, so if you have an interest in this unique regiment, pehaps because of an ancestor who served under Daniel Morgan, it is a "must have" book. The only disappointment is of a personal nature, in that my ancestor's name is not listed on the muster roll in the book, even though there is documented proof of his service.I believe that it may have been a transcription error of some sort...but this in no way takes away fromthis excellent book by Mr. Lacrosse.

3-0 out of 5 stars Only centered on a few
I would have given it a higher rating if it had at least given credit to the entire roster of 500 men hand picked to be Riflemen. The original Roster as complete as possible would have been nice. It seems to only center around a few not the entire regiment. All of these unnamed men were just as brave as the few written about, many of them suffered with the rest of the men at Valley Forge and elsewhere and stayed with the Riflemen to the end of the war.
While it gives a good account of the some of the deeds performed by Morgan's men, it should have been more centered on the entire group not just a few. Maybe there will be a follow up with more emphasis on the entire regiment?

5-0 out of 5 stars A valuable addition to the research library
This well-researched book provides valuable insight for the Revolutionary War student. While scholarly and fact driven, it makes this place and time in our history particularly accessible. It is especially of interest to those who would understand the significant role of the common man.Take special note of the photographs and the painstakingly presented appendices. Also, a nice bibliography is offered for further reading. ... The book has really cool pictures. I also like how it tells you about the history of lacrosse and other really, really cool facts.

4-0 out of 5 stars good read for overall knowledge of evolution of game
I got this book because I'm an avid lacrosse player and love learning about the roots and evolution of the game. Since I live in Texas where lacrosse isn't nearly as big here as it is in the Northeast, it was interesting to see how the game is played and the culture is so huge at the D1 level. There was too much emphasis on the men's game, however, with only one section devoted to the women's game. But the picture quality was awesome, thanks to Inside Lacrosse magazine, and the layout is also neatly done. Makes for a good coffee-table book. ... Read more

Product Description
High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! Box lacrosse, also known as indoor lacrosse and sometimes shortened to boxla or simply box, is an indoor version of lacrosse played mostly in North America. The game originated in Canada, where it is the most popular version of the game played, from the traditional field lacrosse game. It is played between two teams of six players each, and is traditionally played on an ice hockey rink once the ice has been removed or covered. The playing area is called a box, in contrast to the open playing field of field lacrosse. The object of the game is to use a long handled racket, known as a lacrosse stick, to catch, carry, and pass the ball in an effort to score by ultimately hurling a solid rubber lacrosse ball into an opponent's goal. At the highest level box lacrosse is represented by the Senior A divisions of the Canadian Lacrosse Association (Western Lacrosse Association of the British Columbia Lacrosse Association and Major Series Lacrosse of the Ontario Lacrosse Association), and the National Lacrosse League. ... Product Description
According to the National Center for Health Statistics of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, approximately 34 million Americans have a significant hearing loss; of these almost six million are profoundly deaf. Imagine living in a world where everyone around you speaks a different language, and you can't master it . . . The culture of those around you is different from your own, but you can't be a part of it . . . No matter how much you struggle to fit in, you never will. And what if this is your lot in life not by choice but by chance. How would you feel? This is the very same world into which millions of deaf persons are born, including Christopher Cline. Christopher's journey through life highlights the challenges that a deaf individual growing up in a hearing world faces on a daily basis, including the most difficult, yet most important, challenge of all gaining the acceptance and approval of one's hearing parents. Silent Ears, Silent Heart gives the reader a glimpse into the language, culture, and life of a deaf person, but it does more than that. The reader's heart becomes intertwined with Christopher's so that he or she is inspired to be empathetic toward the plight of deaf individuals. ... Read more
