Product Description
The perfect golfing gift: A book that is a complete, working 9-hole miniature golf course, with miniature golf balls and putter included. The first book you can play through. The book that's a true original.

Featuring nine themed courses, from pirates to dinosaurs to the classic windmill, The Miniature Book of Miniature Golf celebrates the silliness and the golf-for-everyone! attitude of Putt-Putt. Each page in the book is a cleverly designed hole, modeled on real mini golf courses. Tap the ball through the grooves and make sure to avoid the obstacles. Then see if you can get it in the clown's mouth on the last hole. Every hole is par fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Even if you don't play Golf, this little book is great fun.
It's pretty hard to catagorize this book.Yeah, you could call it a book,or you could call it a game;but whether you like golf or playing with games, this book will give you lots of fun.
Mike Vago has taken the Minature Golf Game out of the amusement park and placed it on the table right in front of you.
Its not very big, only 6 X 6 inches and 1 1/2 inches thick. It opens up to give you 9 separate holes of golf. Each hole is accompanied with a bit of story, rules and suggestions on how to tackle the challenges of that particular hole.As the name implies ,the holes are more like one finds at the Minature Golf Range than on Championship Courses. Each hole has been given its "Par" to challenge you.Par for the 9-hole course is 29.You can compete with yourself or against an opponent. It can be quite addictive, as you are challenged with all the things such as sand traps, water holes, bridges, doglegs, mazes and just about every hazard you find on a course, and including penalties.
It is well constructed and will give many hours of entertainment and challenge as long as treated properly. It opens very well, whether you are on the beginning or last holes. This is because of the simple ,though ingenious construction of the hinge. The game should definitely be played on a hard, flat surface such as a desk or table. It is also ingenious in that you drop the ball in the hole in the cover, turn the "Page" and then it is ready for you to start the first hole.Likewise,on "sinking" the ball,it goes through and awaits you on the second hole, and so on to the end of the course.
The only shortcoming is the container for the club and balls.I actually made a new cover out of a piece of heavy clear plastic and use a bit of tape to secure it.Losing the ball might be a problem, but if that happens, a small steel ball bearing would have to be found. It would have to be metal,as plastic would be too light. The book should have come with several spare balls.
Anyway,a great challenge to make par.The instructions and rules don't talk about "holes in one" but they are possible ,though very risky,by flipping over the "hazards","roughs", etc.on the course.
Have a good game ;and don't worry about the sun screen or the weather!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Miniatrue Golf Anywhere
It's a cute idea that enables you to play miniature golf anywhere! The different holes have different themes (a dinosaur, a skull) and different pars.I wish it came with more than one golf club and that there was a convenient way to store the balls and clubs after you open it however.I think the whole thing will go in a ziplock bag so we can put it in the car and bring it anywhere!

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book, wonderful fun!
This book tickled my golf-loving brother pink! His children also wrestled with him over it. It truly brought a smile to all our faces!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome! Highly Recommend!
My mother in law got this for my son when he turned 7. He LOVES this book and has been playing with it on and off for the last 7 months. His 5 year old and 2 year old brothers love it too (it's probably not recommend for young children due to the small golf balls and club, but we watch our son closely when he plays with it). It's nice and portable too! Very fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very clever and very well-made
My best friend and I used to play a LOT of miniature golf years ago, so I bought this as a b-day gift for her. When I got it, it was WAY more clever than I anticipated. You really do have to see it.The pages are intricately designed and built, and that makes them challenging to play. One hole in particular (the hedge maze one) will drive you nuts.Even the text in the book is informative (when true) and funny (when not-so-true).Again, it's so well-made that there's a certain "wow" factor when you flip through it.This thing would be perfect on someone's desk at work. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars miniature golf book
This book is a great look at mini golf courses from various states around the country. It brings back alot of fond memories of my youth playing mini golf. I still enjoy it when I can go.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not very well researched
The information from the 20's to 40's I can't argue with its the period from the 50's to the 70's that they didn't seem to research very well. Its as if they relied on one or to sources for their information

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Collection Of Miniature Golf For An Enthusiast
Starting with a cover of indoor/outdoor carpeting, this book is great for anyone who truly likes miniature golf.It has picture and articles about the game since its beginning and shows some of the best and most unique courses known to the author. ... Read more

From the supplier: Miniature golf courses are a fine addition to any municipal park. They are popular, easy to run, and will easily pay for themselves or turn a profit if just a minimal fee is charged per round. A permanent course can be built, but portable ones can be had for much less.

Excerpt:Eternite Miniature golf courseMinigolf, or miniature golf, often called crazy golf in the United Kingdom, is a miniature version of the sport of golf. While the international sports organization World Minigolf Sport Federation (WMF) prefers to use the name "minigolf", the general public in different countries has also many other names for the game: miniature golf, mini-golf, midget golf, goofy golf, shorties, extreme golf, crazy golf, adventure golf, mini-putt and so on. The name Putt-Putt is the trademark of an American company that builds and franchises miniature golf courses and Family Entertainment Centers. The term "Minigolf" was formerly a registered trademark of a Swedish company that built its own patented type of minigolf courses. It is a matter of taste which activity one wants to call "minigolf" rather than "golf", but probably the best candidate as the "first minigolf course in the world" is the MENS' Putting Club of St. Andrews in Scotland, which was founded in 1867, and still today is operating and open for public. Excerpt: Baseball and cricket are the best-known members of a family of related bat-and-ball games. While many of their rules, terminology, and strategies are similar, there are many differencessome subtle, some majorbetween the two games. Other present-day bat-and-ball games include softball, stickball, rounders, stoolball, pesäpallo or Finnish baseball, punchball, kickball and British baseball, which has similarities with both cricket and baseball. Earlier forms include the "Massachusetts Game" of baseball, which was similar to rounders, and one old cat and two old cat. Bat-and-ball games, in general, are sports in which one team (the fielding team) has possession of the ball and delivers it to a member of the other team (the batting team), who tries to hit it. The two opposing teams take turns playing these two distinct roles, which are continuous during a specified interval. This contrasts with "goal-oriented" games, such as all forms of football, hockey and basketball, in which possession of the ball or puck can change in an instant, and thus "attackers" and the "defenders" frequently reverse roles during the course of the game. In both cricket and baseball, the players of one team attempt to score points known as runs by hitting a ball with a bat, while the members of the other team field the ball in an attempt to prevent scoring and to put batting players out.
