4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
A fantastic source of information for anyone wanting to improve their mountain bike riding skills.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book of use for all mountain bikers
I found this to be an excellent book on mountain bike techniques. There are illustrated examples of all the skills you would want to know for all styles of mountain bike riding.
This is a book to work through. For example it starts with the basics like wheelies and manuals and progresses to bunny hops showing how they are related and why you want to know one technique before progressing to another.
Whereas Ned Overend's book is XC race oriented, the techniques in this book as just as applicable for downhilling and freeriding as they are to XC and will help you whether you race or just like to ride for fun.
There is also a short section in the front covering the basics of choosing and maintaining your bike(s).

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but could be better
I think this is a great book for a visual perspective.

Things that are hard to describe in words are often given good visual treatment. I especially liked it when they showed multiple frames to illustrate a technique that might have changes across time.

For example, they illustrate performing a jump by showing you various frames including hen the rider enters the jump (showing body position, etc), while he's in the jump, and what he looks like when exiting.

This alone puts this book above others I have read on the same topic.

I also liked the treatment of many different topics. There's a really good cross-section of useful information covered, so it seems like just about anyone in the sport would benefit from the content.

There are a couple of things that I think need to be improved on to make this book better.

First and foremost, the book either needs to dispense with all the flowery, colorful jargon, and stick closer to simple English, or it needs to provide a glossary up front.

I am a beginning rider (supposedly one of the people this book is aimed at) and there were many times I did not understand a section perfectly clearly because of the specialized language they used.

Here's an example, taken from early on in the book:

"Pump backsides. Any time the trail turns downward, press down for some free speed".

That probably makes perfect sense to someone who understands these terms, but it did not help be as a beginner.

What does "pump" mean? Does it mean to "pedal hard"? Does it mean to quickly raise and then lower your body on the bike to "pump it"?And how about "press down" - press down on what? The pedals? The handlebars? The saddle?

I've read the whole book and I'm still not 100% sure if "pump" means "pedal", or something else.

This problem occurs throughout the book, in some places worse than others. There were spots where the language was so flowery that I actually laughed out loud.

I remember one paragraph talking about pimping and nailing and lips and rhino horns. I wasn't sure if somehow a chapter from Alice in Wonderland had ended up in this book about Mountain Biking.

The other thing I found confusing about the book was some of the conflicting advice given.

I found this especially true in areas related to braking. If one just listed all the sentences related to braking you might see something like this: "Stay off the brakes, speed is the key to smoothness", "Use the brakes to remain in control", "Only brake when you really mean to", "Braking is one of the most important skills", "People rely too much on the brakes", and so on.

This all reminds me of an out-take from the movie Poltergeist in which the main characters are giving Carol-Ann advice about how to come home: "Go into the light!", "Get away from the light!", "The light is your salvation!", "The light is the enemy!".

I'm afraid that after reading this book I am as confused about braking as poor Carol-Ann is about whether or not she should go into the light.

Apart from these gripes, I have spent many hours with this book and feel that I will become a better rider for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book for basic MT biker
This book give me a different view of Mt.Bike skill. Not just power but
trick and trade for the entry level like me or even may be higher.
Very educational. I wish I could buy his step-by-step DVD to improve my ride.

5-0 out of 5 stars All you need to know

Amazon.com
Moab is a mecca for mountain bikers, who come from around the world to ride its challenging trails. Whether you're a newcomer to the area or a frequent fat-tire flier, Mountain Bike America: Moab is a great addition to your fanny pack. Local cyclist Lee Bridgers blends his passion for mountain biking with his obvious love of Moab, describing 49 rides ranging from easy (Old Moab Highway, Dalton Wells) to "very difficult to abusive" (Porcupine Rim). Each starts with an overview--where to start, how far the ride is, how long you can expect it to take, warnings, environmental concerns, and how to get there--before launching into a detailed description of what you'll experience along the way, be it slick rock, deep sand, dinosaur tracks, or rusted mining equipment. Bridgers is careful to point out places where cyclists should use caution, encouraging less experienced riders to dismount--"if you are pushing a mountain bike, you are still mountain biking. Live to ride tomorrow." Detailed maps will help you plan your days--especially the cross-sections of each ride's ups and downs. Throughout the book, Bridgers emphasizes the need to protect the environment--"as mountain bikers we had better learn to co-exist with nature or else we'll lose the privileges to enjoy it from the saddle"--and offers up stories from his experiences as one of Moab's leading bike tour guides. Special sections on safety (carry more water than you think you'll need), bike selection and repair, Moab-necessary techniques (sand riding, dealing with flies), and area food, lodging, and services make this a useful all-around resource. --Sunny Delaney Book Description

We flock to it in droves to pay homage to what many consider the North Shore, the Mount Everest, the Vatican, the Taj Mahal, the Empire State Building, the Marilyn Monroe of mountain biking -- Moab, Utah. But mind you, Moab is not for everyone. Nowhere is the terrain more challenging or more dangerous. Nowhere is the penalty stiffer for screwing up. But if mountain bikers don't ride Moab, they will forever dream of what could have been. Moab is simply the best mountain bike destination on earth. No question. No controversy. No ifs, ands, or buts. It gets under your skin. Come here once, and you will come again and again.

From this book mountain bikers can expect exhaustive and comprehensive trail descriptions, from beginner to advanced, GPS-quality, digitally designed relief maps detailing each ride, and accurate profiles maps showing the ups and downs of each route. In addition, detailed directions get cyclists to the ride without getting them lost. Detailed mile-by-mile directional cues are also provided with difficulty ratings, elevation gain, trail contacts, and much more.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mountain Biking Moab, 2nd Edition: A Guide to Moab, Utah's Greatest Off-Road Bicycle Rides
I read several guides about mountain biking Utah prior to my recent trip.I have to say that of the 3 I read, Lee's book was not only thorough, but very accurate. When you get to Utah, you realize how immense the actual area is.There's alot of opportunity to ride, but also for peril.Lee does a nice job of telling stories that are interesting, give a heads up on local cool things, covers ecological and social issues that are relevant, and is a hip and thoughful author.I give the book 5 chili peppers.I will say, it would be nice to have a smaller format I could take in my hydrapack.Instead, I used a human guide!

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor and biased
I've read the book and biked with the authors company based in Moab and don't recommend either.

There are many other guides to Moab which are cheaper and equally informative (try Biker Mel's.). Only when you meet the author, ride the routes he describes, the routes he doesn't describe and hear what the locals have to say about him (all bad) do you realise how unreliable this book is. It is just too biased by the authors own personal opinion.

This guy is decsribed locally as a biker snob who made enemies after slagging off everybody else in Moab in this book and who refers to routes as 'his trails'.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Any one going to Moab needs this book. Some of the trails are just variations of the same main trail but it gives some great information.

2-0 out of 5 stars Mountain Biking Moab
The author provides excellent information, maps and important details that will help make your Moab experience much less frightening. The book will also familiarize you with the terrain/trails before you get there. However, Mr. Bridgers still manages to ruin it by being rude, crude and derogatory throughout the book. The text is full of swearing and blasphemy, crude descriptions of which body parts rock formations resemble, and put-downs aimed at Mormons; he promotes lies and almost never portrays Latter-day Saints in a good light. All of the information that you need from this book can be obtained in the Mountain Bike Moab Pocket Guide, and that book will fit into your Camelbak.Save your money, and don't buy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't bother - it SUCKS!!
Bridgers has his mountain bike clients write reviews for him. I lived in Moab for 15 years and can say this book isn't worth the money. ... Read more

Book Description

Mountain Bike Virginia explores the land whose terrain and geography are as unique and diverse as its history is rich and exciting. If you enjoy exploring remote coastal environments or the quiet backroads of Central Virginia's horse and wine country, or if you prefer hurtling down white-knuckled descents, crossing over deep river gorges, and cycling past waterfalls, wildlife, and rolling pastures, then Virginia is the place to be and this book is for you. Throughout its pages, Mountain Bike Virginia describes more than 50 of the state's greatest mountain bike rides, from sea level along the dunes at False Cape to nearly 6,000 feet atop the wind-beaten summits of Virginia's highest peaks.

This guide contains exhaustive and comprehensive trail descriptions from beginner to advanced, GPS-quality, digitally designed relief maps detailing each ride, accurate route profiles showing the ups and downs of each ride, detailed directions to get bikers to the ride without getting them lost and detailed mile-by-mile directional cues, difficulty ratings, elevation gain, trail contacts, and much more.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for biking and hiking
This book is well organized and detailed. I have not been lost due to bad intel and have thoroughly enjoyed each trail so far. The difficulty ratings are fair, too. The lists of 'best rides' at the beginning of the book that go beyond geography are very nice.

3-0 out of 5 stars Holes in the Atlas
I found the format of this book to be quite useful.Trails are divided into geographic regions with detailed instructions on how to get to the trailhead. Each trail in the book has a standard trail map, an elevation map (useful to gauge the trail's difficulty), some text to give more detailed directions, and other trail details such as parking fees, whether or not you can bring your dog, etc.Don't buy this book if you are interested in riding in the Lynchburg / Bedford / Roanoke area as it seems the author has not spent a great deal of time in this part of the state.Otherwise, Northern and Eastern VA are well covered.

4-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Detail
Mountain Bike VA is an excellent book for the mountain bike enthusiast or just someone who enjoys biking at a more leisurely pace.Divided by VA Counties; each ride has detailed instructions on how to reach thetrailhead, associated costs, distances, type of trail, difficulty, a traildiagram which includes a trail terrain profile, a couple of pictures and awitty, descriptive narrative.Well worth the minor cost and then some.Ihighly recommend it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this book!
This book has everything you need to get to Moab, pick a trail that is right for you and have a great time. There are overall technical ratings for each trail, individual technical ratings for each part of every trail, elevation maps, detailed overhead maps, instructions for particularly troublesome areas...it is all here.Someone said that it would not fit in a Camelbak, but it easily fits in one of the smaller pockets of my MULE.When I'm there next week, it will definitely not be left back at camp, but will be with me on every mile of slickrock that I ride.Do not buy Lee Bridgers' book! This one is less expensive, of higher quality and you can take it with you wherever you go.

5-0 out of 5 stars Moab mtn biking...really
This book caught my attention. The trail descriptions, maps, and difficulty ratings really provide a pretty good estimation of what to expect on each trail.(Which really comes in handy when matching up technical ability and endurance to particular trails.)Believe me, some of the trails mentioned are extremely challenging... and you don't want to get stuck on a trail that you aren't ready to ride. Please follow the advice given on the trails listed when it comes to your endurance/technical ability. This could mean the difference between injuring yourself or hoofing it back to the trailhead on foot.

If you have never ridden in or around Moab, this is a must-have book.Even as someone who has ridden in the area many times, I still use this to select which trail or trails I want to ride depending on the amount of time I have each day.

My advice: buy this book, read it, stuff it in your bag, and head to Moab. While it's too large to easily fit in a camelback, read through it at night while in the hotel planning out the next day's adventures.

5-0 out of 5 stars New Title -- still the real deal!
I found this in a Moab Bike shop.. Rim Cyclery or something like that.. anyway.. I had to buy it! It was the one I thought I ordered on Amazon before I got to Moab... but apparently the publisher just released a second edition and put the old edition's title on another book!!

This edition.. the "pocket guide" is the one you want if you're gonna actually get on a bike and ride.

It gives a good flavor description of the ride and the directions were spot-on... The profiles were good too. I really liked the maps.. they allowed good navigation. Not overwhelming .. just right.. This guy obviously put his heart and soul into this book.

Obviously this author's heart and soul reside on Moab's trails! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Guide, Used it Quite a Bit
Picked this up for an extended Northern California hiking and riding trip. I purchased about four others as well and I used all of them as each has a little something different. Not a single one was useless and none warranted less than 4 stars. I would reccomend doing the same rather than just picking one for your trip.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never Wonder Again Where to Find Good Dirt
As a serious S.F. Bay Area cyclist for over 40 years I approach any guidebook to my "back yard" with a certain degree of skepticism, as in "What new can you possibly show me?"I was delighted to find that Ms. Jackson did indeed show me some new mountain biking delights I'd overlooked, but along the way I learned even more new tidbits about what I supposedly already knew.Almost every featured ride has "enrichment" far beyond the necessary trail and topographical stats. No doubt the author learned things from her literary predecessors, which is as it should be, but there is also no doubt she has written the currently definitive off-road guide for mountain bikers of this region. The miracle of the S.F. area is that 5 million people can live so close to so much open space. It is no mean feat to review it all personally, provide directions that are simultaneously explicit and open ended, and simultaneously appeal to the first time rider and a "show me" old time rider such as myself. But Ms. Jackson has done this much, and more.I mean her guide book is not only that, but a fun read as well.Imagine!

5-0 out of 5 stars For the Rider, the Wannabe, and the Curious
Mountain Biking the San Francisco Bay Area is what the title says it is and much more. Lorene Jackson has tackled a huge subject (argueably the area with the largest number of mountain biking options in the country) and covered it well, providing the rider with all he/she needs to know before hitting the trail. But she does more than that. Beyond describing the ride, the terrain, and what's of interest, she makes each ride enticing.

Beyond offering detailed descriptions of 40 rides around the Bay Area, plus 17 more "Honorable Mentions," she provides much background material and information that will equip the novice and intermediate rider to be prepared and assured of a pleasureable experience.

But what I enjoyed most was her breezy enthusiasm that will draw many armchair riders to actually get on a bike and head for the mountains. Lorene Jackson and this book should spread the mountain biking "gospel" beyond it's current circle. I can't wait for her book on Lake Tahoe rides!

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Bay Area Mountain Biking Resource!
If you love moutain biking in the San Francisco Bay Area, then this book is your new best friend!

Detailed maps, great photos and tons of great rides that will challenge and inspire you as well as leave you breathless (both figuratively and literally). This book's detailed descriptions of where to catch the trails and navigate some of the best mountain biking in the world is a must for both locals and visitors to the birthplace of mountain biking.I especially loved the Marin trails section because it opened my eyes to some rides I didn't know about which have now become some of my favorites. And if you love single track riding, then Jackson will take you on some of the most harrowing rides you can imagine -- I've got the scabs and scars on my knees and thighs to prove it!

5-0 out of 5 stars great book, though showing its age
Although it is dated, and trails have changed since 2003 this book remains a must for NC bikers for its range of trails, readability, elevations.Sets a high standard for mountain biking books.Trails range from easy to hard. If I were to buy one book for NC trails this would be the one hands down.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mountain Biking North Carolina
I found this book to be a real comfort to my coming vacation.

The trail discriptions are right on, along with the Elevations made my selections easy. I can't wait to spend a week in the mountians of Northern Carolina..

5-0 out of 5 stars The best N.C. mountain bike book I own.
If you're going to mountain bike N.C. you need to own this book. It's easily the best one I own. The maps, directions, and charts are great and easy to follow. The rides are varied with all skill levels included. And this guy Muth has a great writing style, loaded with pesonality. My only suggestion is that he includes Dupont when he revises. Thanks Timm!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great trail guide. Great stories.
This is a biased review: I rode some of these trails with Timm while he was putting together the book. The book does a great job of communicating the care and enthusiasm he brought to the project (well, care in trail mapping - there were some impressive biffs). This book not only has a great selection of trails, but it's a fun read. By far the best guide to trails in North Carolina.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have guide
If you are going mountain biking in NC, you need this book. The information is excellent, with a lot of the book devoted to the awesome Pisgah National Forest. But almost as important, it is written with a passion for the ride like no other guide I've seen. This isn't a dry list of turns & mileage, but a colorful and helpful description of the entire trail. It's the kind of book that makes you want to ride. ... Read more

Having said that, this is a great book. It's not a thin little book with only a few rides. I found it very sizable and covers a good areas so whether your in Philly, Pittsburgh or somewhere in between there are rides near you.

My favorite features is selecting rides by feature. You can select rides for endurance, scenery, technical rides, single track, etc.

For biking with my wife I love the finding some nice family rides and rail trails in my area, and for myself I love long technical trails that test quads and skills.

My only complaint is that the index is arranged by ride numbers so after you look up the ride number you have to go to the index to see which page number it is on. Which is sort of annoying. It should list both. This problem is easily solved with the use of a paper clip on the PA map page and the front index.

5-0 out of 5 stars Mountain Biking Pennsylvania
This is by far the best book I have ever read for mountain biking in PA.It gives you a great amount of detail for each ride.It gives you everything you could possible need to know and more.It even gives you historical facts about the trails. It goes into great detail about the route and turn-by-turn directions by the tenth of a mile. Each ride is rated on many different categories include distance, surface, grade and even technical difficulty. It also provides a diagram that shows you were the step parts of the ride are and rates each of the climb. The book also does a great job as giving rides through out the entire state. The book contains 91 rides.I would highly recommend this book over the many books I have read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best thing for PA Mtn. Bikers
The book provides a well-written, comprehensive, guide to the entire state. It is apparent that the author has logged countless hours in providing riders with a complete guidebook to many rides throughout the state.Although this book does not cover any specific region in depth, it gives riders a taste of all areas.Riders of all skill levels will appreciate the format. There is a colorful and informative commentary for each ride, providing the "icing on the cake." This is one of my favorite books in my collection but one that never stays on the shelf.

4-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive & interesting
I have been searching for a good guidebook on PA mountainbiking for over a year. Ginieczki's effort here appears to be very well done. I have ridden at least 5 of his reviewed trails in the Eastern & Northcentral parts of the state, most before the book was ever published. I found his reviews of these particular trails very detailed, accurate, interesting & w/ crisp & clear directions. He sprinkles interesting bits of geography, history, humor & trail tips that make reading most enjoyable. I like the way the book is laid out & written, with good up to date markers & maps. Most measured trail distances matched my bike's computer - a good sign. My only gripe is that, unfortunately, it's not the kind of book that is easy to pack or refer to during rides. Otherwise, the most up to date, informative & best of its kind for PA that I've come across.

1-0 out of 5 stars Please avoid the South Mountain Emmaus Trails
The South Mountain, Emmaus, PA trails, as described in "Mountain Biking in PA" by Rob Ginieczki, are located on PRIVATE PROPERTY clearly marked by NO TRESPASSING signs. The gentlemen who owns this property is VERY ANTI-MOUNTAIN BIKE and these trails should be avoided. Numerous conversations took place between myself and the author of this book, before the book was published, informing him of the access problems associated with this area. Since he chose to disregard these conversations and send his readers to areas which are ILLEGAL to ride in, I would suggest that all readers be wary of the trail directions provided in this book. Please feel free to e-mail me for other, legal areas to ride in this area. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars serious training for anyone wanting to become a serious rider
This is a great book on mountain biking fitness training, not a book on technique is that's what your after....i have been riding mountain bikes for 2 years now and have improved my fitness over this time[also lost 25kgs somewhere along the way!!]...After riding socially i found myself wanting to do more and so i entered a race, and have now started racing on a regular basis. I found i had hit a plateau in my fitness, and not able to pay for a full time coach[or justify the cost of one to my wife]... i figured i needed a book to gain some information.

I found this book is an alternative to anyone who can't afford a coach I have read through it twice now [the second time with a highlighter pen and sticky tabs to note important sections]...

The book offers me a clear and simple training program to adhere to...and offers valuable info relating to pre race preparation...Improving lactate thresholds was a major area i needed to work on and having riden with my new training program i find i am leaving my riding buddies behind whom would normally beat me...I find that my fitness level is improving daily and the better i feel on the bike the more fun i have...I ride around 230kms a week these days[80% on single track], and i have more energy than i have ever had before[and i am 42 yrs young heading towards 21]

To sum up, this book has taught me to become my own trainer/coach. I find myself with more energy at the times i need it[especially race times] which was always a lottery ticket before...if you are a serious mountain bike rider or a beginner wanting to become one, i suggest this book is for you[on the other hand if you are one of my competitors disregard all of the above comments]

Thanks Joe Friel

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-Organized Information
Climb those mountains faster and ride longer with this reference book for series mountain bikers. These tips will help you become one of the greats.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book
I liked the approach of the book, with some helpful tips and ideas.

5-0 out of 5 stars What it claims to be
I raced to win the overall expert category title in my age group in the Intermountain Cup Race Series (the tri-state race series for Utah, Wyoming, Idaho) in 2002. How? Hard work, natural ability, and this book.

The criticisms against this book posted here are unfair ("weed hound"? sounds like something only a "weed hound" would say). This book is not an instructional book for beginners. Simply put, this book is a guide for serious athletes to become elite racers in the discipline of mountain bike racing, who chose to coach themselves. Training for mountain bike racing is similar to but different in terms of particulars from any other sport, and this book unpacks all of the information you could possibly need to set up a perfect training program. And there is A LOT of information to be had.

But what about technique? Well, bike handling isn't technically part of developing a training regimen. Again, this book is what it claims to be, not what you might want it to be. And if you're looking for information like that, you're not ready for this book. As in any sport, the need for a comprehensive book on serious training is really only appropriate for those already seriously racing. If that's you and you don't have this book, now you know what the winners are reading and doing. Don't believe me? As them. Not a single top athlete I have talked to doesn't use this book, unless they are paying for a personal coach out the wazoo.

5-0 out of 5 stars It made me faster and last longer!
I began mountain biking February of this year('03).I threw up on my first ride.I raced my first race in April and came in 22nd of 24 finishers.I bought this book in May.About five months later I was flying through our local tough park, Markham maintained by ClubMud.org (believe it or not we have some decent cross country MTB parks in Florida).I went from a best single lap of over an hour to multiple laps of 45mins each.In the fall Ford Tough Series I placed 2nd overall in my category (Men Beginner 30-34).What a rush!

The book was hard to read at first.Mainly because I wanted it to hand feed the training procedures to me.It finally dawned on me that it was training material for the self-coaching athlete that I, my own coach, had to put into a regiment based on my needs. It required that I get in tune with my body and its needs.I still reference it and still realize things in it I didn't before. The nutritional information was a big help in modifying my diet without dramatically impacting my family's eating habits. This is a book you have to read from cover to cover to get the most out of it.It's also wise to take the book's advice when taking training seriously and ease your body into it(although no-pain-no-gain does apply).I went from the slowest guy amongst my friends to the fastest after about eight weeks into the book.If you're not serious enough about getting faster to shut off the TV and read for a while for a couple of weeks than pass the book and stick to the magazines with all the pictures of guys you could otherwise be.

Thanks Joe Friel. ... Read more

Thanks again, to the authors!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is Rad!
I am a professional rider and have lived in the area for over 15 years. This book is the most acurate and descriptive book on the market and it is worth every penny no matter what level of rider you are. This is a great book and there are no inacuracies and the maps are great. See ya on the trails my friends

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Book
This trail bike is definitely a must for any serious mountain biker. The Santa Cruz area has some of the best trails in Northern California and most bikers do not even realize where they are. I would definitley recommend this jam-packed book to anyone looking for a biking adventure in Santa Cruz County. The authors seem to recognize that people need information to guide them to the trails that are suited to thier particlular abilities. I found the information straightforward and precise. To the Authors - GREAT JOB -

1-0 out of 5 stars I don't recommend this book:Inaccurate/Poor Descriptions
I live in Santa Cruz and bought this book to explore other trails that I haven't found yet.Though this book is fairly comprehensive, I have found some inaccuracies in the trail descriptions and portions of the book poorly document the trails and other important details. In addition, the writers of this book encourage riders to visit illegal trails and to disregard state law. There are other better quality books out there as well as many FREE websites that provide information on these same trails.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great guide book!
This book was very helpful in finding some of the best mountain bike rides on our trip to santa cruz. With lots of pictures, maps, and elevation charts, this is one of the best guide books i've bought. It also has very detailed mileage guides, so you cant get lost.If you are going to be riding in santa cruz, get this book!! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good
It has good information about trails, but I cant seem to find any really technical trails near boulder.

3-0 out of 5 stars General/Practical
A good book to pick up if you are new to the area, but there are some trails in the area that are not mentioned in the book?

It is small enough to stuff in the back of your jersey pocket, or hydration pack.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the BEST book for mountain biking near Denver
I have purchased the FalconGuide books for Moab and Fruita both are great. But this is the one that I use almost daily. It has a ton of rides that are 30 minutes or less from where I live.I ride trails in this book 3 - 4 times weekly.I save the ones that are a little farther away for the weekend. But all in all a great book.Nice size to so you can take it with you when you ride.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good overview of area trail networks
This book provides a good listing of trails in the Denver/Boulder area. There are maps for each trail and altitude charts to show the elevation gain. The directions to the trail heads are accurate.

The one thing Idon't like is that it only gives information about one trail for eachsystem. ... Read more
