Should be classified CHILDREN'S book
I ordered this book, Paintball (To the Extreme), along with several others, since my teenage sons are getting into this sport.

This book had remarkably little description, but it was cheap so I ordered it.

It has great full color illustrations, but it is certainly geared to a child audience (probably 2nd to 3rd grade reading level.)My teenage boys thought it was hilarious.I told them they can read it to their two-year-old sister. ... Read more

Great Book, Horrible Quality
I purchased this entire series for my classroom after buying one and having so many of the kids enjoy it. They are great stories for struggling readers because many of them enjoy graphic novels. The problem is that within a week, 4 of the 6 books had pages falling out. It was not because of misuse on the students' part; the pages simply slid out of the book. Great book
Recently a couple of friends of mine and I started a team and we are gearing up for the local tournaments in the next couple of months. I bought this book in hopes of getting some tips, and I was not disapointed. This book has quite a few suggestions that you wouldn't think of unless you were able to watch pro teams regularly. I have taken some of the suggestions in this book and thaught about them as if they were a coach's guidence. Not the book you think
This book is not as good as it makes out to be. There is not much in it for the bush baller. Very low on diagrams, examples are written in long winded ways.

Regretable purchace. Buy the airesoft tactics book, a much better guide to paintball and airosoft

Worth picking up.
I picked this book up on a bit of a whim. I'v been playing paintball for a few years now and figured I knew most everything that I needed to know. (I know, there is always room to grow) This book had a lot more info in it than I was expecting. A lot of which me and my friends will be making good use of on the field. Defiantly worth picking up.

A MUST for new and intermediate players !
I got this book the other week and was well worth the money. I've played paintball for many years and this book has lots of information in it that I'd never have thought of. I liked the 'no-bull' approach of the author in relation to gun purchasing and the choice of gun to get. The quality of the pictures is excellent as well as the paper quality. Poorly written, simple minded, like a middle school kid wrote it
Decent ideas but honestly not worth publishing (or buying). I found it too boring to read and just brainstormed with my friends instead of refering to the book.

Outdated but not useless
This book was written back when semi-automatic markers were just beginning to appear, so most of the info is severely dated (unless you are looking to improve your stock-class game). That said, the chapters where Barnes discusses tactics and scenario ideas are still useful. However, the same tactics are also discussed in more modern guides. You would be better served passing this over unless you are going to use it to improve your stock game.

Excellent
The revised edition is excellent. Other than a few things that are out of date (e.g., charging is less effective now with semi-automatic markets than it was then with pumps), everything else is current and excellent advice for paintballers. Certainly worth the price of a couple hundred paintballs, for sure. Make sure to read this one and pass it on to your team.

Old, but still fun to read.

Every game imaginable...and then some.
Before I bought this book, I was looking all over the internet for a couple of new paintball games to play (to change things up a bit on the field).I searched through chat sites, forums, and practically every website I could find containing what I found to be was basically the same 20 games, tops....until I found this book! I checked out the book's preview on their web site paintballersalmanac.com and learned that these guys really did their homework! I WAS BLOWN AWAY WHEN I SAW THE INDEX OF GAMES! My list of 20 games that I spent weeks accumulating turned out to be a big waste of time compared to the 200 games in this book- I should have just bought this book from the beginning.

PROS:
Every game imaginable has been included, and then there's another 150 on top of that! I'm not exaggerating.I found that practically every game was a unique and challenging scenario. I didn't spot any "cheap knock-off variations" to "fluff up the book" - like, "Give the Captain a gun and call it a new game". Every game was legitimate.There were tons of games that I thought were purely brilliant, ranging from extremely simple to very challenging. What I really liked was the practical yet creative use of props, ranging from using a combination lock to using "cup-and-string-posts" for color changing beacons (Domination p.37) Games are organized alphabetically, one page at a time for easy reference, and the index in the back allows you to find games by alternative names. The classic games were in there too, so you can have all the "official rules" for the new guys in your group.

CONS:
There's a game or two that takes a bit more setup than your typical newbie might want to do - but almost every game can be set up in less than 5 minutes and the games that do require props are minimal, like "A plastic pipe" or "a foam ball". I just wish I had this book 10 years ago when I first started playing paintball (There's enough games in this book that I would still be playing new ones to this day!)

Great Tactics Pages
I have read this book many times now, admitedly the weaponry section is dated, however Ricahrd Cooke wrote this book in 1992 when paintball was still young in the UK.
The tactics section is very good though and i have used many of these tactics during games to great effect.
the list of sites and suppliers is useful too, amazingly most of them are still running too 12 years on after the book was written. Great writing and would recommend to any one interested in paintballing

Laugh and Cry
This book has most readers laughing throughout. There is some adult humor but no one said it was a childrens book. The mother of a 14 year old boy bought it for her son. She said he could not put it down. She had always had a difficult time getting her son to read. The story is very interesting and there are elements that any teenager or adult can relate to. Drama, suspense, humor and fear. This story touches on many emotions and reads very well. The author uses excellent description in his details. NEVER LET A CHILD READ A BOOK IF YOU HAVE NOT REVIEWED IT FIRST. DUH!

This is not for kids!
I bought this for my son, who is doing a report for school on paintballing.When he started reading it, he alerted me to several profane words on the first page- this book is absoulutely filled with foul language.It is most definitely not for kids, and we'll be sending it right back.

Must Have For A Paintball Business
I bought this for my son who went out after reading this book and bought 2 paintball fields from eBay.He never did get the field going but did develop a business plan using this book as a guide.He sold the fields and the book to a person who had a field and was expanding it.This is a good primer for the paintballpreneur.
