3-0 out of 5 stars inspiration
This book was an inspirational sports book because, it will make you determined to do your best. The three reasons i liked this book are, he always pushes his parents so he can play roller hockey, He showed that even the little guy can make a huge differnce, and I liked how he practices to try to get better. This books is about a kid named Kirby who plays a lot of sports but doesn't like to stick to one,and he has a hard time meeting people on his new neighborhood. I rated it a 3 out of 5 because Matt could of elaborated more what was going to happen to Kirby next to keep the reader off there seat if he made another series about Kirby. Anyone who like a thrilling sports book will be satisfied with Roller Hockey Radicals. Kirby the roller hockey radical has fun in the book learning roller hockey but what will happen next you will find out.

5-0 out of 5 stars Roller Skating Radials
I rated it 5 stars because I love hockey. Also because it was cool how they had a hockey team. I've tried that before and it's hard to start.

4-0 out of 5 stars sweet book!!!
This book was great, I think the moral is that kids can make a stand and should fight for what they want!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Roller Hockey Radicals is Awesome!
It's about Kirby and he moved to a different town. He wanted to find some friends. Eventually, found a roller hockey team called, " The E-Street Skates". It was exciting! It had a lot of info about roller hockey. This book was REALLY RADICAL!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book for hockey enthusiasts ages 8-10
Danny Spottl, 3rd grade, The Piedmont School, High Point, NC. Kirby Childs moved with his parents from Minford to Valemont. It was summer break and most of the kids were at summer camp. So it was hard for Kirby to find kidsto play with. Anyway, Kirby met some kids that were playing roller hockeyon E Street.Soon, they invited him to play. The team played everySaturday against the Bates Avenue Bad Boys, which was the only other teamin Valemont. The Bad Boys played rough and injured the E Street Skates'captain. The parking lot where they played also needed repair.Kirby'sparents were worried and didn't want him to play. The team had a petitionto raise money for the parking lot to be fixed. They also got a referee tomake sure that the Bates Avenue Bad Boys couldn't break the rules. Now,Kirby's parents were happy that their 13-year old found friends to playwith. My favorite character is Lainie because she is the E Street Skates'goalie. I also play goalie in my team, the Jamestown Hurricanes. I like theparts in the book where they report how the games are played. And I likethe book a lot because it is about hockey which is my favorite sport. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great for breaking down the game of roller hockey
As a collegiate roller hockey player and youth hockey coach this book was very helpful. It does a good job of breaking down the skill sets that are necessary to exel at roller hockey. The book also has many detailed drills specified for different team and individual goals. Would recommend to begining players, advanced players, and coaches alike.

4-0 out of 5 stars A useful part of any coaches library
Although I have never played hockey, I coach a youth roller-hockey team and I find the descriptions and drawings of basic skills extremely useful for improving my ability to explain the core techniques of the game

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful
This book in my opinion is very helpful to first time players and people who are learning about the game. It has pratice techniques and different drills for all positions of the game which I find to be helpful. If you're a first-timer in the game or want something to give you ideas for drills this book is for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars it is a great learning book for new players
it is the best book ive readfor learning to play hockey it teaches you everything

3-0 out of 5 stars This book is a very drill-orientated book.

Overall, I was diappointed with this book. The
main focus was on drills and I wasn't aware
of it.The drills in it are great. They have
many drills for each individual skill.
However, the text wasn't that good.It seems
like it was written from an ice hockey
player's view point.There was little
consideration for the difference between
roller and ice hockey. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Coaching Youth Hockey
Excellent condition when received. This book offers detailed insight for those coaches that want to immerse themselves in the next level of coaching.Certainly not for the beginner coach.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good for beginners
I was taking a coaching class in college and used this book to supplement my class text books.Had some very good tips for new coaches and how to get the players involved.Introduced good concepts.Would recommend.

1-0 out of 5 stars Useless
Clearly not written by hockey people.

I could give numerous examples like pg 40 "Get Your Players' Attention""Make sure they aren't looking into the sun or at some distracting activity."

Practic plans are a joke.No way someone could run a 50 min practice based on these practice plans.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hockey review
I needed to understand how to teach children under 10 the game of Hockey and start towards gaining a coaching award in this age group. This book gives me a greater understanding of what turns on a childs interest and haw to maintain this interest.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Must for the Hockey Coach's Toolkit
This book offers a comprehensive set of introductory materials needed for the first time or experienced hockey coach. It is useful for either ice or roller hockey.I particularly appreciated the author's including thesocial, communication, and motivational aspects of coaching youth sports. Full of handy checklists and drills to emphasize the needed skills, thisbook provides a solid foundation for developing "your own" hockeyteaching and coaching program. The drills and progressions are excellent. The book would be better with more technical emphasis on skating skills andtechniques. But overall, I would recommend it for any coach or parent whois close to this fast-growing sport! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive Goaltending Knowledge for Ice and Inline!
I purchased this book when I first got into hockey roughly 4 years ago. It's complete with conditioning drills, information on equipment, positioning stances, and what to do in key situations. In fact, the only reason that I've given it 4 stars out of 5 is simply because the information at this point could stand to be revised.Yet it covers both butterfly goaltending (which is the standard across ice hockey today) and stand-up goaltending (less common in ice hockey, but still very necessary for inline play.)

If you're starting to play hockey and want to be a goalie, I'll tell you right now that this book is very useful to get yourself going.

5-0 out of 5 stars A high school coach's opinion
This book along with The Hockey Goalies Handbook by Corsi and Hannon will provide enough information and differences of opinion for anyone from beginner to the high school level. Chaptes 2 and 3 on exercises and stretching are something that every goalie needs to consider.I can't recommend one book over the other because they complement each other so well.

5-0 out of 5 stars Love, it's the best!!!!!!!!!!
A great comprehensive goaltending book.Stretching, taking care of your equipment, practicing, playing, and visualizing...this book has got tons of information and is very helpful. I'd love to see some follow-ups going even further indepth!

4-0 out of 5 stars This book helped an aspiring goaltender
I'm 30, never played a minunte of hockey, and want to play goalie. This is the book I bought. I loved it, because of the general all around information it provides. From stretching, eqiupment, technique , to mental toughness. It also does not talk down to you, as you were ten years old.
My only complaint is the lack of depth in the equipment chapters. If it was an all encompassing book, I would have liked more information on kinds of different pads, masks, gloves, ect.
I recomend this book, they tried to help all areas, and I think it worked on me. And I now play goalie twice a week.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hockey Goaltending is an outstanding starting book.
Offering a well writen and condensed description of both Ice and Roller/Street hockey for a person wishing to learn the How To's of Hockey Goaltending. It has great descriptions backed up with photo's to truely give the reader an idea of what is being described.

I am in my first year of a Roller Hockey league and have found this book to be outstanding for my level of play.My game has drastically improved and my understanding of the position has too.

I would recomend this book for any and beginner to intermediate levels of players. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book for coaches
I recently started coaching roller hockey and this book has been a godsend.I use it constantly to plan practices and drills. It covers everything from specific skills to offensive and defensive strategy. You might want to have more specific books on some in depth subjects (e.g. goal tending) but this does a great job covering all the basics.I highly recommend it.

2-0 out of 5 stars focus on drills and tactics
Roller hockey is a nice book for a coach, with the focus on tactics and drills.

This is NOT a book on stickhandling, skating en shooting instructions !

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good book
Good info. The part explaining defense is especially helpful, i.e. when to defend against a shot and when to play the pass.It makes coaching ad teaching penalty killing and odd-man rushes a lot easier.
For the record, if you find yourself defending against a two-on-one, always cover the pass from inside.

5-0 out of 5 stars great book and very thorough
This is a great book. It helped immediately just by reading it, let alone all the drills it includes. Did I mention the drills in the book? There are LOTS of them. Each is explained from a coaches standpoint and a players standpoint. This makes it obvious that this book is good for both the player and the coach. A definate must read if you're learning roller hockey.

5-0 out of 5 stars Beginner to Expert
Short and sweet, this book is excellent for the beginner as well as the advanced roller hockey player. It clearly presents each and every aspect of the game in a way that everyone can appreciate.I like to touch and feel books when deciding on buying them, but take my word for it, this is an excellent book on Roller Hockey. It is like having a coach available 24 hours a day.It shows skills the beginner can use and drills for advanced players to enhance their play as well. You will not be disappointed. ...
