Product Description
Italy has a long history of competitive games and sports, which was to a great extent inspired by the athletic contests of Antiquity. The human educators and the Renaissance rulers attempted to recreate the grandeur of Imperial Rome. Athletic excellence became an equally strong component of Italian culture during the Renaissance as in ancient Greece and Rome. Italy was the place to be for spectators and to train to be proficient in a variety of physical exercises. The main focus of this study is on how Renaissance Italy became the playground where royal tennis, the ancestor of the modern game, developed into a high cultural form of private court entertainment. The book regularly quotes from the text of the first book on tennis, Antonio Scaino's Trattato del giuoco della palla (Treatise of the Ball Game) of 1555, which was written as an instructive manual for the ballplaying courtier. Scaino's introduction of tennis laws enabled the aristocracy to draw a line between themselves and the populace who continued to play a crude type of the game in the streets. ... Read more

Vers 1869 ...http://booksllc.net/?l=fr ... Excerpt: Royal Rumble (1994) was the seventh annual Royal Rumble professional wrestling pay-per-view event produced by the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). It took place on January 22, 1994 at the Providence Civic Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The main event was the Royal Rumble match, a battle royal in which wrestlers enter the ring at regular intervals. Lex Luger and Bret Hart were named co-winners after they simultaneously eliminated each other. The undercard featured a Casket match for the WWF Championship, in which Yokozuna successfully defended the title against The Undertaker. In addition, The Quebecers beat Bret and Owen Hart to retain the WWF Tag Team Championship and Razor Ramon successfully defended his Intercontinental Championship. The first televised match of the pay-per-view was supposed to be Ludvig Borga vs. Tatanka. The two were engaged in a feud that began prior to Survivor Series 1993. Tatanka was undefeated in the WWF since his debut in 1991. Borga ended this streak on the October 30, 1993 edition of WWF Superstars (taped on September 28, 1993), when he hit Tatanka with a steel chair while the referee was distracted. As a results of storyline injuries from this attack and the beating he suffered afterward at the hands of Borga and Yokozuna, Tatanka was forced to miss the...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=5828339 ... 5-0 out of 5 stars You don't want to stop reading this book!
I really enjoyed this book. Most books I usually put down
but this one I couldn't stop reading.I could really relate to
the story and it made me think alot about lifeand the choices
I have to make at my age.I loved the characters and the honesty
of Tim with himself and his friends. I would love to read about
Tim again as he gets older just like me.

5-0 out of 5 stars Reflections of our lives through our children
Outside In is a book that sneaks up on you and leaves you with a clearer understanding of the choices that we all face in our lives.By simplifying the issues and relationships into those of a child, the author gave me a non-threatening way to introspect on the assumptions of duty that I place on myself.

Bravo to a well developed story that unlocks one of the plagues of our culture...an unrelenting duty to "be the best" regardless of the personal cost. With such a busy life, short respites like Outside In that provide clarity are too few and far between.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tennis, teenagers, trials tribulations and finally triumph
Outside In starts fast and never loses its momentum as it takes the reader inside the mind and heart of a teenage sports prodigy who just wants to be able to do things like everyone else (after all, what early teen doesn't?). This well-written, carefully developed story is about the lessons any young person learns while trying to find and develop their own personality. The multi-layered plot touches upon parent-child realtionships, peer-pressure, child prodigy issues, the internal conflict and sacrifice of finding one's true passion and of course, young (and often-times awkward) love.
The authour is at ease in his writing style and allows the reader to touch the physicality of the story via effective metaphorical passages. The pages turn quickly and the reader immediatley identifies with all the well-developed characters. For the teenager reading this, you will undoubtably be able to think of many people you know that could play each character. For those a little older, Outside In is a fantastic trip back to a time that is not yet too distant for tangible memories.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book About Kid's Sports Ever
Outside In is awesome!!It is my favorite book about kids in sports.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outside In is Outstanding
Outside In is a well-written and engaging book.I read it cover to cover in a short time and thoroughly enjoyed it.The author is able to relate the feelings of a teenager who is committed to an individual sport that he loves and the sacrifices he has made to excel in the sport. The book describes the excitement of competition, the dedication of an athlete, the comradary that sports can bring and the feelings of isolation that can come with competing in an individual sport. It also touches on issues of teenage romance and the desire to fit in with the popular crowd. This book has something for everyone! It's a must read. ...
